A/N: Please don't hate me! I'm so so so sorry I haven't updated this lately. I was going through some family stuff I don't really want to get into.

Ok, so I still haven't had time or creativity to write 'A Weekend Getaway Part 2'. But I wanted to give you guys SOMETHING because you've all waited so patiently. So the following chapter is something I thought of and quickly wrote.

This is not related to the plot of the A Weekend Getaway story arc. Think of it as an interlude. I home to continue A Weekend Getaway soon. But for now, please enjoy the following chapter.

"Ruby, are you sure you're gonna be ok here?" Yang asked her sister. The only response she got was a pained moan. Unfortunately, the younger girl had received her 'monthly gift' from Mother Nature. The same gift every girl in the world wanted to return. The first day of it was always the worst for Ruby.

The scythe wielder was currently laying in her bed with her pajamas on, face down in a pillow, clutching her torso. Yang was standing on top of Weiss's bed, looking at her sister with a worried expression. Their other two teammates had already left for today's classes. Luckily Weiss hadn't given her leader much grief for staying at the dorm for the day.

"I told the professors you'd be taking a sick day. Are you sure you don't want me to stay here with you?" Ruby looked over at her sister, moving her head out of her pillow.

"No I'll be fine by myself." She said, shaking her head no. "You don't need to stay." Yang ruffled the younger girls hair and gave an encouraging smile before hopping to the floor.

"Just hang in there little sis. I'll be back during the lunch break to bring you some food." The blonde said as she headed for the door.

After saying quick goodbyes, Ruby was left alone in her own little world of suffering. She buried her face back in her pillow and let out a muffled scream. Determining that there was nothing more that she could do, Ruby closed her eyes and attempted to go back to sleep. But, she was interrupted when the dorm door opened again.

"Yang?" Ruby asked, not bothering to lift her head up from her pillow.

"Nope." Replied a familiar voice. Ruby looked over at the edge of her bed to see Jaune, smiling warmly.

"You're gonna be late for class." She told him, though she was holding a smile of her own.

"Just wanted to stop by and see how you were doing." The knight said with a worried tone. "So, how you feeling?" Ruby replied with a loud pained groan, making Jaune frown. However, it quickly turned back into a warm smile. "Well, I think I might have something that'll make you feel a little better."

Ruby watched as his head ducked back below her bed, and resurface a moment later. He reached up and set a small portable DVD player next to her, a few of her favorite movies, then gave her a pint of her favorite ice cream; strawberry chocolate chip.

"Aaaannnnd here's a spoon." Jaune said as he handed her the piece of silverware. "I thought you might need a little something to take your mind off the pain." He explained.

For a few seconds, Ruby only stared at the gifts her knight had brought her. But the silence was broken when she turned to him and said in a completely serious voice; "Marry me."

Jaune laughed at her reaction, and the short girl bent over the bed's edge to give him a soft kiss. When they broke away, Jaune lightly set his hand on Ruby's cheek. "I'll be back when lunch is over and Yang's gone. Don't worry, I'll bring you some video games when I return." With another quick kiss, he hopped off the bed and headed for the door.

"I knew there was a reason I loved you." Ruby called to him.

Jaune grinned back at her. "I love you too." He told her before closing the door.

When he was gone, Ruby set up one of her movies and began digging into her strawberry chocolate chip ice cream, all the while thinking of how lucky she was to have such a great boyfriend.

A/N: Who else wishes they had someone as awesome as Jaune?
