Unknown Friend or Foe (Pt 3)

"Sebastian?"
"Yes mother?" He turned to watch as she moved out onto the deck. She smiled triumphantly at him. She sat down and motioned for him to do the same.
"I've just heard from my informant. He found him." Sebastian glanced up at her, as he was sitting down. Now he would find out who she was talking about.
"You keep telling me that we will find this 'someone'. But you never told me who it was, or what he means to either of us," he said pointedly. She smiled graciously at him.
"This man that I have been looking for? He was an important man, once." She paused. "But for now, be content that I have located him. All will be revealed in good time my son." They both felt the rumble of the twin engines start up.
"We're leaving?" he asked pleasantly.
"Yes. We have a man to see."

"I don't see why KI3T can't come back and take them to California." It sounded like a simple statement. But it was KARR's way of letting Wil know that he was unhappy about the idea. "You know none of them trust me."
"That's not true KARR," Bonnie told him. "You've come a long way since we first met. And I trust you completely. You've proven your worth to me, especially over the last few days."
"See KARR, there is nothing to worry about. Besides, KI3T is in the lab waiting to be repaired. And it would mean a lot to me if you would do this," Wil explained to his vehicle.
"Oh alright. If it means that much to you," KARR grumbled. Wil smiled. He knew his car would comply with his request. They pulled into the airport, passing through the private plane entrance. KARR zipped across the tarmac and came to a halt in front of the massive jet transporter. It was a special design that Wil and Devon had worked on together. It wasn't as fast as their normal jet, but it wasn't far behind in speed. It had been painted black with a single Knight Chess piece stenciled in gold on the tail. It could transport two vehicles at a time. With a full load, it could still reach California in just over five hours. The company jet could do it just under four. The jet had been delayed, as it had stopped over to pick up something Wil had needed. "I've scanned the aircraft. I'm impressed-"
"Shhh. Don't ruin the surprise!" Wil cautioned him.
"What are you hiding?" Bonnie asked suspiciously.
"You'll see when we get back to the lab," Wil replied mysteriously. With that he exited the vehicle and motioned for the others to do the same. Waiting for the women to start boarding, he turned back to KARR. "Please take care of my cousin and uncle. It's important to me KARR. I trust you will do your best."
"I will do as you instruct. See you in California." With that, KARR backed up, spun around and headed towards the exit.

"Mr. Knight?"
"Yes? What is it?" he asked, annoyed at having been disturbed.
"Just wanted you to know sir, we found out someone has been trying to trace you." The head of security awaited for a response.
"Well?"
"It's a private investigator, named Jesse Ladd. I dispatched two men to find out why and take care of him," came the reply. He fidgeted nervously. He wasn't sure how his boss would react.
"Fine. Let me know the minute you know anything. Now get out." He had never even bothered to turn around to acknowledge the man's presence. And all he heard was the sound of the door closing as he left the office.
He had only been left alone for about an hour, when he heard someone knock on his door again. This was getting to be tiresome. He stood and angrily strode to the door. Yanking it open, he barked, "What do you want now?"
The security guard looked hesitant, afraid to say anything. The look on Garthe's face prompted him to speak. "T-there is an unidentified automobile heading our way sir. I was sent to inform you," he sputtered out.
"I must be surrounded by incompetent fools! Do I need to tell you how to handle the intruders?" Garthe seethed.
"No sir," the guard spoke meekly. "We have a team set up to ambush the car just as it gets to the gate."
Garthe's face darkened. "Get out of my sight and do not come back until they have been apprehended!" The guard back peddled down the hall, turned and took off at a slight trot. The intruder's would suffer for stumbling upon his secret base. He hoped they had said goodbye to their loved ones, as they would never leave alive.

Wil had taken up the back half of the plane. His laptop was in front of him on a make shift desk. Paperwork was scattered all around him. He had been attacking a problem and had sat back in his chair to give his eyes a rest. He had been at it for about four hours and had made sure the women had not gained access to the rear of the plane, where he had his surprise. He hadn't meant to, but he fell asleep. The stewardess had kept up a friendly banter with the ladies. She moved towards Wil's sleeping figure, when Bonnie stopped her and shook her head no.
"We will be landing shortly," she told Bonnie quietly.
"Okay, I'll wake him," she replied.
"Thanks." She made her way back to front of the plane. Bonnie got up and moved to Wil's work area. She started to pick up the papers that had fallen to the floor. They were photo copies of formulas. The MBS formula to be precise. These must be blown up pages from Wilton Knight's journal. She heard Wil move around. Looking up, she saw him sit upright quickly. His eyes had snapped open and he let out a gasp. Bonnie stood up quickly, looking at her nephew.
"Wil? Are you all right?" she asked him.
Turning, he seemed to jump a little, startled. "I didn't see you there."
"Sorry. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I was just…," he trailed off, staring into space. Suddenly he snapped back to reality. "Bonnie?"
"Yes Wil?"
"I think I know how to do it."
"Do what?" He had that far off look in his eyes again, as if he were trying to work something out.
"Don't laugh, but I think we've been coming at this problem all wrong! The answer has been staring me in the face all along. It's so simple…," he trailed off again.
Bonnie sighed. If he kept this up it would be night time before she got any answers. "Wil? What are you talking about?"
He turned to stare at her. It was a minute before he spoke. "I think I know how to combine the MBS formula with the nano-technology."
