The Parting Glass

An Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Story

Bristol, March 1723

The next morning I woke up with Anne in my arms. I kissed her and she woke up.

"Hello beautiful."

"Hello Edward. Sleep well?"

"Actually yes. I had a dream of Mary and Caroline. They told me things."

"What did they say?"

"Mary told me the name of her daughter is Jasmine. And that Woodes Rogers is somewhere in London. We have to go to London anyway so that we be made offical Assassins."

"And what did Caroline say?"

"She said that she gave us her blessing and that she likes you. And she also told us not to worry about Jenny. She'll appear to her and explain to her that we're not betraying Caroline's memory."

"I hope Jenny understands that I'm not trying to take her mother's place."

"We'll get through this together Anne."

She smiled. We kissed and we got dressed. I went into the other room and woke up Jenny.

"Wake up my little angel."

"Good morning father. Where are we going today?"

"We're going to London."

"Really? Why?"

"Anne and I have some business to take care of. And I think we'll try and find a place to live there. How does that sound?"

"It sounds like a great idea. Just one question, will Anne be living with us?"

"Yes. Is that a problem?"

"Oh no. I'm just curious."

"Jenny. What do you think of Anne?"

"I think she's a fine woman. Someone I could see as someone to look up to. Like an older sister or maybe an aunt."

"Good. Well we will talk more about this later. For now get dressed and pack your things. We're leaving soon."

"Yes father."

We walked out of the inn and called for a carriage. I told it to take us to London. It took us almost all day. By the time we reached the city, it was already dark. We found an inn and rented another room. It appears that my fame as a pirate was not as well known here as it was in Bristol. And I was happy to hear that. I wanted to take Anne with me to look for the Assassins. But I needed her to watch Jenny until I knew that she would be safe.

"I'm going to go look for the Assassins. Look after our girl, Anne."

"You know I will Edward. Just be careful."

"I will."

We kissed and I left to find the Assassins. I heard a rumor that they were stationed somewhere around St Paul's Cathedral. It makes sense. They can see everything from that view. But how do I find them? I scoured all over London but was unable to find anyone. I went into a tavern and got a drink. When I was about to give, I though about asking Mrs. Scott if she could send a letter to them and let them know I'm looking for them. Suddenly another man sat right next to me.

"I know you're looking for us. Meet us at this adress tomorrow night. And you may bring Anne with you."

"What about Jenny? I can't leave her unprotected."

"We've got it covered. One of us will pretend to be a babysitter. And perhaps one day, your daughter may join us in our fight. We'll see you tomorrow night...brother."
