FairyTail: AMidsummerNight'sDream

Chapter 8: "Confusion Ensues."

The rain pours down hard in Magnolia's East Forest, as a young woman sits on the cold ground; tired and frustrated.

"I'm running out of breath." Juvia said, as she sat in the cold, "Lucy's so lucky. She was born with beautiful eyes, where as I'm as ugly as a bear - for animals run from me."

As she lowered her head in self-pity, the rain became stronger and she began to seek shelter. Suddenly, the rain stopped. Just then, she noticed a young man lying on the ground.

"Who's there?" she asked franticly, "Natsu? Is that you?"

As she stepped closer to the man, she noticed that it was Natsu.

"NATSU?!, Are you okay?!" she asked, scared that something bad may have happened to him.

His eyes opened slowly. "I'd ride a roller coaster for you." he said as he got up and pulled Juvia closer to himself. "Where's Gray?! I'll beat the crap outta him!"

"Don't say that Natsu! So what if he loves Lucy?" Juvia asked him, "Lucy loves you. Be happy."

"Happy with Lucy?" Natsu scoffed, "No way! I resent the time I spent with her! I love you Juvia. Who wouldn't trade a raven for a dove? Anyone can see that you're a WAY better catch. I can't believe it took me this long to figure that out."

Horrified, Juvia pushes Natsu away. "How dare you?" she said, as she turned her back to him, "When did I deserve to be mocked by you? I can never get Gray to look at me…and you make fun of me for it?! Even though you hurt my feelings, I wish you well." she said as she stormed off, leaving Natsu sad and confused.

"And here I thought you were a nice guy. The nerve!"

"She didn't see Lucy," Natsu thought out loud "Stay there Lucy, and don't ever come near me again, 'cuz you make me sick. So be hated! I'll give everything I have to be with Juvia." he said as he ran after Juvia.

"Help, Natsu, HELP ME!" Lucy screamed as she woke up from her sleep. "I had a bad dream. I dreamt that a snake was attacking me, and you were laughing about it. As Lucy looked around, she noticed Natsu wasn't there "Natsu?" NATSUUU! Where'd you go? I'll find you, Natsu. Even if it kills me."

Elsewhere in the forest, a familiar group of actors gather together.

"Mr. Quince - there are some issues with this play," a blue-haired man said, "First: Pyramus takes his own life. I don't think the women would like that."

"Scary." one of the men said. "I think we should leave the killing out." another man said.

"I have an idea." the blue-haired man said, "Let's have a prologue that says we're not really hurting ourselves. Tell them I'm actually Jellal Fernandes. That will put the women at ease."

Mr. Quince thought for a second. "Good idea." he said.

"Won't the women be scared of the lion?" one of the men inquired. "I'm kinda scared of it myself." another man said, timidly.

"Bringing a lion in front of women truly is dreadful," Jellal said, "Because there's nothing more ferocious than a lion."

"We should have another prologue saying he's not a lion." said one of the men."

"Tell them that the lion is really Snug." said Jellal once more.

As Mr. Quince adds the prologues to the script, he notices more problems. "There's still more issues," he said nervously, "We need moonlight, because Pyramus and Thisbe meet at night."

"Will the moon be out when we do the play?" one of the men asked.

"Yes it does." Mr. Quince said after checking with his Archive Magic.

"Then leave a window open." Jellal said, confidently.

"Or someone with a lantern can stand on stage and say he represents the moon." Mr. Quince said. "One more thing." he continued, "The script says we need a wall for Pyramus and Thisbe talk through a wall." "We can't bring a whole wall." one of the men said under his breath.

"Someone should represent the wall by standing in the center of the stage and doing this," Jellal said as he put his index fingers to his thumbs, making circles with them.

"Then that's it." Mr. Quince said, happily. "Time to rehearse. Jellal, when you're done with your lines, go behind that bush." Mr. Quince said, pointing to a nearby bush.

As the group prepared to rehearse, none of them knew that they were being watched by the Fairy King's right hand man…
