-Chapter Seven-
For a while, his eyes bore into my green ones, which were already glossed over with tears. "I'm sorry" I whimpered out, screwing my eyes shut the closer his face drew to my own until I could feel his breath fanning over my flesh.
"M-Master! Please, she didn't mean it, there's no need to be violent!" Seras sputtered out, reacting quickly in fear of what would happen if she had stayed silent. Alucard looked towards her before looking back at me, growling as he finally let go. The minute his grip left me, I fell to my knees and stared up at him as he grumbled and turned away.
"Don't let it happen again, I'll let you off with a warning this time. But next time there will be a punishment" I heard him grumble as he walked away. Instead of exiting through the door, I watched as he phased through the wall, leaving me frightened and confused.
"Are you alright?" I moved my gaze away from the wall and towards the blonde, in the short time I had known her, she already felt like a close friend to me with how kind she was. Wiping my eyes, I nodded and sniffed loudly as I picked up my guns. Standing up, I almost stumbled over from their weight but straightened myself out quickly.
"Seras?"
"Yes?"
"What exactly is Alucard? Is he a vampire?" I asked, looking at her from the corner of my eye and watched as she nodded her head. She looked a bit uneased as she looked straight at me.
"That's correct, I'm one as well. In fact, he's the reason that I'm a vampire or even still alive for that matter" the blonde explained as I nodded my head. I didn't understand it completely but got the gist of it.
"Seras, do you mind showing me to my room? I kind of forgot where it was" I gave an embarrassed smile as she gently smiled back at me and nodded her head. The walk was silent and peaceful, for the most part. Every once and awhile I would look towards Seras anytime she made a noise of distress, her face expressing emotions that made it look like she was having an argument with someone. By the time the two of us had reached the door to my new room, we were little ways down from the main area. There were barely any windows down here in this hallway as if it was meant to block out the sun.
Seras shoulders had slumped downwards in defeat as she huffed before looking towards me with an apologetic expression. "Uh, thank you?" I felt confused by her behavior as she only nodded her head.
"I'm sorry" I heard her mumble as I entered the room, turning around she was already making her way back up the stairs. I furrowed my brows in confusion, closing the door and looking around the room. It lacked in the décor department, only having a bed shoved off to one side of the room and a small dresser on the other side. There weren't any windows in the room either, I wondered if this was really the room assigned to me. I wouldn't complain though, it was nice enough of them to give me a room instead of forcing me to share one with Alucard.
I walked over to the bed and examined it…it looked strange. The shape of it was enough to make me hesitate to sit down on it, but the events of today were already weighing down on me. Perhaps it was only my imagination and nothing was wrong with the bed. Flopping down on top of it, I flipped around onto my back and stared up at the ceiling. My eyelids slowly fluttered shut as I started to drift off to sleep, before jolting right back awake when the bed shifted.
For a few seconds, I was confused until finally noticing that the top of the bed started to slide shut. Kind of in a similar manner as a coffin would be closed. It wasn't until I was fully encased in pitch blackness and my breathing started to pick up from the sudden feeling of being trapped did I press the palm of my hands against the top of the lid. I pushed against it, my breathing only picking up more when the lid didn't move an inch. "Hello!" I called out as I formed one of my hands into a fist and pounded it against the top of the lid.
"Anyone out there? G-get me out of this thing!" I shouted, hitting the lid even harder as my hand was already starting to turn red. I only slowed down in my movements when I heard a deep laughter. It didn't sound muffled, instead, I could hear it loud and clear as if the person that was laughing was trapped inside with me. Looking around, I grew confused when I confirmed that I was alone.
"What's a matter, sweetheart?" I couldn't help but frown as I heard Alucard's voice loud and clear, it was almost like his voice was inside my head.
"Alucard, where are you? Get me out of this thing" I said, receiving a hum as if the man was thinking about it.
"Let me think about it…no."
"W-what do you mean "no"?" I sputtered out, my temper flaring up and replacing whatever fear I was feeling earlier. "Come get me out of this thing!" I hissed, but silence was my only response and I could only assume that he had left. Groaning, I slammed my forehead forward onto the lid and grunted. Sucking in a deep breath, I silently counted to ten before leaning back and tried my best to get comfortable. It was going to be a long rest of the night.
-Next Morning-
Waking up, I was confused why it was still dark before remembering what had happened yesterday. "Oh, right" I grumbled as I huffed, raising my hands up to my face to rub at my eyes. It wasn't long until my ears to perk up at the muffled sound of the bedroom door being opened.
"Ms. James, are you awake?" I heard Walter ask. "Why in the world would Sears bring you to one of the rooms down here?" he muttered.
"Yeah, I'm awake. Do you mind helping me out of this thing?" I asked.
"Hm? Letting you out of-oh goodness! What are you doing in there?" I squinted my eyes as I watched the lid to the coffin move away and let the light hanging above the room flood into my eyesight. Giving a small "thank you", I crawled out of the bed/coffin and just laid sprawled out on the floor. My limbs felt stiff from having to sleep in such a cramp space. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, but I could go for a nice warm shower because right now everything is stiff and throbbing with pain" I muttered as I peered up at the elderly looking man. He gave me a gentle smile while holding out a gloved hand that I took. It surprised me how easily he could pull me back up onto my feet despite his age. Giving a nod to show my gratitude, I started to leave the room before stopping in the doorway to look back. "Uh, Walter."
"Yes?"
"Where exactly is the bathroom?" I asked, deciding it was best to ask now instead of taking the risk of getting lost.
"Two floors up and second door to the right" he answered, still smiling as I nodded and mumbled a quiet "thanks" before taking off.
