Chapter 6: Intersection Part 1
Old White House, Metropolis, Delaware
Selena Arrived at the Old White Estate in the mid-afternoon. Slinking up to the front door it opened before her. A sense of dread welled up with in her.
"How nice of you to return to us my dear," Selena heard Lois's voice cackle from the upper level.
Selene gulped hard as all sense of her cockiness vanished.
"The Mistress is displeased with you," three voices hissed from the shadows.
From the underneath the Grand staircase Catherine, Victoria and Linda heads pocked out one atop the other. They stared at Selena with a devilish grin.
"A punishment for you," they continued as the pointed up the stairs.
Selina approached the staircase as the three witches' hands clung to the staircases railing. Their eyes followed her as the smiled.
"Oh yes my punishment," Selena scoffed as she peered over her shoulder as she passed by them. "I'm sure this will be added to the extensive list of punishments I have coming to me from our benevolent mistress."
Leaving the three simple minded witches behind Selena made her way towards the top of the staircase. A deep masculine voice emulated from the upper level of the house. It was soothing, yet it sounded like familiar. As she walked closer to her mistress's chambers the voice began to fluctuate. The once soothing tone shifted into the one she heard while in the woman's room at Bruce's.
"Breathe beloved…" Selena heard the familiar voice coo. "The pain will pass…"
"The pain will pass," Selena heard Lois voice mockingly laugh. "You fool, you stand to chance against my master."
Reaching Lois's room Selena saw Lois's back to the door as she sat in a darkened room with light seeping out from in front of her. Looking up Lois Selena saw two shadowy figures projected against the wall.
"Was she watching the woman Bruce had?" Selena asked herself.
"Why yes, it is my dear," Lois said. "Isn't she just beautiful Selena? I wonder if your beloved Bruce was able to keep his hands off her…"
Selena took a step forwards into the room, but Lois tilted her head unnaturally the way back stopping Selena in her tracks. Their eyes met. Selena was taken aback by the blackness filling her mistress's eyes. She had only seen them one time before, the night she took over the coven.
Selene forced herself to not show fear as she stepped into Lois's chambers. She knew she could show no weakness in this moment. For if she did it might be the end of her. Lifting her head back up right Lois went back to watching the two figures in front of her.
"She isn't his type," Selena replied coldly.
Standing behind Lois Selena saw him the man from outside Bruce's house. She wondered if this was the half of our master, the true evil that walked the earth.
"I'm sure she is," Lois added with a devilish smirk. "Isn't that right sweet Victoria, Selena doesn't really know what man want. If it's got a hole a man will fuck it…"
Selena hands touched the back part of the chair Lois was setting in. She tightened her grip as Lois spoke. Selena knew Bruce, this woman was too pure for him. He like them with a little bit of sin.
"So confident at our master you are Lois, I wouldn't mock whatever else desires her," Selena said asserting her voice over Lois's. "He might actually get it."
Selena took a deep breath calming herself as she walked around the chair to face Lois. Looking once more directly at Lois, Selena smirked as her dark eyes burned cold.
"Do you question our master's power child?" Lois hissed.
"Never my mistress," Selena answered. "Just an observation from a humble servant."
Turning back to figures on the wall she noticed something off in the distance, a different figure, one of flame. Had Lois not noticed him?
"A shot has been fired and it wasn't done by our master," Selena.
A rage filled Lois's eyes as the blackness faded from her eyes. Selena only smiled as she watched Lois stand to her feet.
"For a witch to claim to be able to deliver her to our master you have failed," Selena added with a smile.
Lois lifted her hand up and smacked Selena in the face. The burning shock left Selena stunned as she landed up against the wall.
"A battle may have been lost but a war, that takes more than just one battle to end," Lois hissed. "You see my dear sweet Selena, I have only just begun to fight."
Lois clapped her hands together.
"Catherine my dear," Lois called.
The blond witch appeared before Lois, kneeling at her feet.
"Come with me my little Cat," she continued. "Our prize has just arrived."
In a flash both Lois and Catherine were both gone leaving Selena still knocked out on the floor. Shaking the cobwebs from her head Selena propped herself up. Selena thought herself that a hit like that should have killed her. Lois was weak. A true coven leader should have power beyond understanding, Lois didn't. Maybe Zatanna wasn't dead after all.
Intersection Part 2
Metropolis Central Train Station, Metropolis
Rushing through two rail cars I made my way to the rare of the train. As I run I watched the locomotive come to a stop in the train station. Peering the back window, I try to find him, the man in blue, the Emperor. Hidden within the sea of people at the station I saw a glimpse of him off in the distance. The towered over all about him. Once the train was no longer in motion I opened the back gate and jumped off the back and landed on the train tracks. I heard audible gasp from the crown as I landed on the gravel between the train tracks. Behind me I heard Mr. Curry's booming voice shouting my name, but I could not stop. We needed him.
Looking about I saw a ladder the lead up to platform above. Making my way over to it I climbed up to platform. The crowd stepped away from me as if I was a savage animal. One voice in the crowd shouted animal at her. For a moment I looked down at my dress, which was now covered in mud and dust. The crowd's condemnation was palpable in the air but I couldn't linger on it. Looking back up in the direction of the man in blue I found he was no longer there.
"Fool," I thought to myself as I had lost sight of him. "How could I lose him…"
Once more I heard Mr. Curry and the others calling out for me. Looking back behind me I see them coming towards me.
"Yuda,"
I heard the voice, his voice call to me. The one from the bath. I head turned in the direction of the voice. Spurred forward but his voice I ventured further into the crowd until I saw him towering frame. He was stepping into a building.
"Faster you damn Herme before we lose her again," I heard Mr. Jordan's cuss behind me.
"I'd prefer not to blow these people to oblivion Hal," Mr. Allen replied.
Pressing my way thought the people I finally reached the building. It was a saloon.
'No coloreds' was painted on a sign in the window in large black letters. I knew I should probably wait for the others to catch up. Though every fiber of my being knew this was foolish, I wasn't on Themyscira anymore. I was in Man's World and no matter how much I didn't approve of it I had to play by their rules. Plus, I had already made enough commotion already.
"…I've missed you my beloved…" the voice spoke once more.
Standing outside of the saloon I finally saw him clear as day. A towering man with long raven curls. He was seated at the bar. Something was urging me to step closer to him. My legs moved on their own walking me closer and closer to the saloon's door until I found myself standing inside.
"Can you not read girl!" the barkeep shouted.
As I heard the barkeep's voice shout I finally realized what I had done. His hand pointed directly at me with mace in his eyes. I stepped forwards lifted me hands. "Oh dear me," I said coyly. "Forgive good Sir I lost track of where I was going…"
"GET OUT YOU DARK SKINNED HEATHEN," the barkeep continued to shout. "Your kind isn't welcome in here darky!"
I slowly began to step backwards to leave.
"I'm sorry…" I said.
As I spoke I tripped over a chair and tumbled to the floor.
"Had there been a chair there when I walked in?" I thought to myself. "I could have sworn there hadn't…"
Lost in thought I slowly get back to my feet. As I adjusted my dress the barkeep made his way from behind the bar.
"I said GET OUT!"
The barkeep took a step towards me but stopped his tracks. The man I had been following had grabbed the barkeeps wrist.
"The lady said she was lost," he said as she stared down at the barkeep.
His voice sounded so commanding and forceful.
"I see no lady just a savage," the barkeep replied as he pulled his wrist away from him. "Or are you one of those slave loving boys."
His words burned. I had been called a out of my name one too many times this day yet the man I had followed seemed more angered at his words than I was. The barkeep took a step forwards to the man in blue. Standing barely to his chest he shouted at him.
"…Your kind isn't welcomed here either!"
The man in blue balled his hands into a fist. Swiftly I step in between them and place my gloved hand on both men.
As I watched the man's face loosen as my hand met his chest I replied, "We were just leaving…"
"Filthy heathen!" the barkeep hisses. "I've got to teach you not to touch you betters…"
In a flash the barkeep firmly grabbed my wrist and yanked me into him. His breath as hash and foul against my cheek.
"Yay," his hisses. "You slave girl like it like that don't you…"
"I am no slave you fool," I replied. "I am Amazon!"
As I spoke I forced my head into throat causing him to release me. He stammered backwards holding his throat.
"WHORE," he hissed.
Once more he moved in close to try and hit me. The man in blue moved to protect me but I reached up and block the barkeep's hand before he could. The barkeep winced as I grabbed his wrist. With a twist I heard the bones in his snap. He crumpled to the knees.
"Never speak to a lady with such vulgar language again or I'll do more than break your wrist," I replied as I leaned down into his ear.
The barkeep didn't reply but nodded as if he understood. Releasing the barkeeps hand I noticed the man in blue was staring at me.
"You're strong," he muttered as he stared at me.
"I know," I replied with a smile. "I'm sure he will treat others with more respect next time."
"Well, well," a woman's voice said. Turning towards the saloon's entrance we both saw two women standing in the doorway. "You've got some grip their young lady."
"I didn't know my own strength," I replied.
The two women step towards up with a smile on their faces.
"Please forgive that rude man," she continued. "We all aren't so backwards here. I am Mrs. Lois Lane-White and would like to welcome you to Metropolis."
As she spoke the woman called Lois stepped closer to me. Something in her eyes didn't set well with me.
"… I hope this poor excuse of a man's action doesn't turn you off to our beautiful city young my dear," she added as she stopped right in front of me.
Her cold eyes looked me over as if I was a piece of meat.
"I would say no it hasn't," I replied. "Mr. Kent was a true Gentleman…"
Lois turned her attention to Mr. Kent.
"Oh Mr. Kent, I know everyone in this town," she said. "I'm sure I would have remembered those blue eyes…"
"I'm new here Ma'am," he replied. "I just got here a few hours ago."
Lois clapped her hands together, "Well then you both must come to a tiny gathering I will be holding tomorrow evening at my home. It will have all of the elite residents for you to meet and make both of you feel welcome into our city."
Mr. Kent recoiled slightly.
"I'm just a farm boy from Kansas Ma'am," he answered lowering his head. "I don't have anything fancy enough to fit in with you fine people."
I stepped over the barkeep's body and stood in front of the man in blue.
"I think I can help here," I said as I stood in front of him.
Looking up into his pale blue eyes I watched him become flustered by my presence.
"Pretty…" he mouthed.
"I would like to show my gratitude for your assistance," I continued. "Well my colleague Dr. Wayne might be able to help."
Mr. Kent looked puzzled at my offer.
"You are too kind Miss…" he replied softly.
"… Diana Prince," I replied.
I lifted my hands causing him to stop speaking.
"You don't have to come if you don't wish," I added.
As I spoke I reached into a side pocket of my dress and pulled out a card. 'Dr. Bruce Wayne'.
"Just head over to the Grand hotel and hand this card to anyone and they'll send you right up," I continued as I handed him Bruce's card.
Lois let out an audible gasp, "Oh you know Old Bruce? Oh my dear please tell him he has been missed."
Lois's face was too eager. Once more I got an unsteadying feeling emanation from her. I nodded at her with a smile.
"I will be sure to pass your greetings along," I replied.
"I look forward to seeing both of you tomorrow," Lois said as she turned to leave the saloon. "Good day."
Lois left with her younger blond friend beside her. She walked passed my fellow companions causing Mr. Jordan to shudder.
"You ok?" I said as I watched him watch Lois walk back onto the street.
"It's nothing," he replied.
I could sense he was lying, but now was neither the time or place for this kind of talk.
"I see you found big blue," Mr. Allen said breaking the silence.
I shock my head silencing him.
"Are any of you Dr. Wayne?" Mr. Kent asked as he watched the three men
standing about me.
"Oh no laddie," Mr. Curry boasted. "But we will be more the willing to bring you to him."
"Why would we do that," Jordan said as he stared intently at Mr. Kent.
He was trying to read him just as he did to Mrs. Lane-White.
"Because he saved me from this brute," I replied as I pointed to the barkeep who was still lying on the floor.
"We've got a hero here," Mr. Allen added as he smiled at Mr. Kent. "I like him already. Welcome abroad, Big Blue."
Mr. Kent mouthed, "Big Blue?"
"His into nicknames," Mr. Jordan scoffed as the turned to the saloon door. "You'll get used to it."
Mr. Curry and I both followed suit leaving the saloon behind us. I looked behind us and watched Mr. Kent following behind us.
"So, what does he call you," Mr. Kent shouted.
Mr. Jordan stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Mr. Kent. He pulled his dark shades down of his face. Illuminated green light seeped out of eyes.
"Oh, he calls he Reaper,"
Mr. Kent took a step back.
"Pa, I don't think I am in Kansas anymore," Mr. Kent muttered under his breath.
