You readers are in for a treat! Being nominated for Best Adventure/Drama gave me motivation to write my longest chapter to date. I have already finished Kim Possible: A sitch in Time: Past, half of Kim Possible: A sitch in Time: Future, and the following episode. The whole of Kim Possible: A sitch in Time will be over 10000 words, judging on my current word count. If you would like to vote for my story as Best Adventure/Drama, do so before the votes close.
Chapter 6
Ron's P.O.V.
"Greetings, Stoppable-San," Yori greeted, acknowledging my arrival with a bow.
"Yori!" I shouted in pleasure. I walked up and gave her a huge hug. "You look…okay. To what do I owe this visit?"
"As I was explaining to your father, I was sent by Sensei to help train you in the art of opening your chakras." Yori explained, "Also, Master Sensei would like another visit. Why don't you go on up and get some sleep and visit him again?"
I nodded in agreement right as Hugh asked how it was possible for me to sleep and visit Sensei at the same time. I barely heard Yori promise to explain it as I wandered up to my bedroom. When I got there, I wrapped myself in my covers and fell straight to sleep.
When I woke up, I found myself at the foot of Yamanouchi Peak and made my way up to the mountain. Just like last time, Sensei was waiting for me.
"Yori tells me you wanted to meet," I stated off the bat.
"Indeed," Sensei quickly affirmed, "I have chosen Yori to train you in the art of opening up your chakras. She is a fine teacher and someone you are familiar with."
I nodded and then blurted out, "What are her elemental abilities?"
"I suggest you ask her," Sensei deflected, "In the meantime, my students and I are safe in neighboring Obuse. I've also placed some of our transfers in the areas surrounding Middleton. If they are needed, they may be of assistance. Now, any news on Monkey Fist?"
"No new news. So that's good. Fortunately, I haven't been questioned by Global Justice yet. It's not going to be easy to keep this secret for long."
"Understood. Until next time."
Before I could ask what he meant, this dream state evaporated and my room came back into focus.
"That was cool," I muttered. I then headed back downstairs and found Yori chatting away with my mom.
"I'm ready to begin training," I directed towards Yori when she wasn't busy.
To my surprise, the next six weeks were pretty quiet in terms of action. Monkey Fist was laying low in Hiroshima to the surprise of Global Justice, Kim, Wade, and myself. Global Justice had indeed questioned me about my relationship with Yori while in Japan. I was able to tell them she was a security detail, assigned by the school (a half-truth), and they didn't question me about the matter further. If they suspected Mystical Monkey Power, they didn't mention their suspicions to me, much to my pleasure. Also, Yori and I did a lot of meditation, which didn't seem to help me open up my chakras since I was still unable to consciously activate "superpowers." Yori never showed any elemental abilities, so after a while, I concluded she didn't have any.
The time for action finally came one night at three in the morning, just hours before school. Yori came in and shook me awake. "Wake up. Someone is making a move on the Tempus Simia on display at the Middleton Museum. We believe it is Monkey Fist."
"That would make sense," I mumbled to myself. I quickly sat up and moved to work. Taking Rufus, who had been returned back to regular size at least a month ago, I ran down the stairs.
I had almost run out the door when I realized I had no idea how we were getting to the museum at this time of night. I voiced my query to Yori who told me to follow her. I followed her to my garage and didn't see our ride until it literally came out of the shadows. In my defense, it was very hard to find a black Prius in the dark garage.
"Badical!" I whispered, "How come I've never seen this before?"
"I used the same technique that we use in the Dragon Course to conceal ourselves. You can use it on physical objects as well as on people," Yori relayed.
"Oh, cool," I awed, "I'd like to learn that after we complete this mess with Monkey Fist. Who's driving?"
"I am," Hugh declared coming up from behind, scaring me. Perhaps he had gotten some lessons from Yori because he moved like a ninja!
Hugh had no trouble finding the car and starting it up. I slipped in the back with Yori and perhaps ten minutes later, Hugh pulled into an alleyway by the back of the museum.
"Kim said she would meet us here as soon as she can and we would all head in to face Monkey Fist," Hugh informed, somehow caught up on events.
I thanked Dad and waited patiently. A chance to face Monkey Fist? That would be scary as hell. Hopefully, my Mystical Monkey Power would keep me alive. I also hoped Kim catch me on my Mystical Monkey Power use. In all truthfulness though, I had no memory of what I did while under the influence of Mystical Monkey Power. Did my eyes change color? Did an aura surround me? Would it be obvious to Kim that I had these powers?
"Let's go," Yori announced, snapping me out of my musings. I followed Yori out and as Hugh said, met with Kim Possible.
"Who is this?" Kim questioned, looking at Yori. "You know what? Never mind. I'll figure that out later. Can I trust you to watch my back?"
"I've got your back, as you say," Yori replied confidently. Kim was momentarily caught off guard, by what I imagine was the accent, but shook it off and urged us in.
We found the Tempus Simia in the middle of the room when we walked it. First off, it was headless, which was scary as hell. Also, there was a large figure, perhaps 6'3" or 4", in a cloaked red robe standing over the statue.
"Well, well, well," the large figure teased, a voice modulator masking his real voice, "The Great Blue has arrived."
"I see the Crimson Ape doesn't know when to quit," I snapped, taking a guess as to the identity of this masked figure.
"Says the person who is unworthy of the power he has received," the Crimson Ape countered before jumping up in the air and smashing his fist on the ground, causing a mini earthquake.
I myself fell down having not been prepared for his attack. Yori and Kim, however, had enough time to jump over the earthquake and run towards the attacker, now known as the Crimson Ape.
"I'm right behind you, K.P." I cried, flipping up and running towards my enemy, who I sincerely believed to be Monkey Fist. However, I had to roll to the side as a green plasma burst got in my path, nearly burning me. I was already on the ground when another earthquake shook the ground. I got shot in the air and the back of my head connected with a stand, leaving me with a nasty bruise on the back of my head.
"Oh man," I groaned, "That's going to leave a mark."
Seconds later, several mini explosions rocked the museum and the mad golfer, Duff Killigan, dove out of the way.
"Lost your balls, Killigan?" I teased, "How are you going to play the course now?"
"Aye, Lassie. Talk about driving a wedge in an already subpar relationship," Duff hollered. We stared at each other momentarily before bursting into laughter.
"If you must know," Duff stalled walking over to his golf bag. He then pulled out two clubs. "I plan on borrowing your own."
I blanched at the statement and blacked out as he ran towards me with his two deadly weapons.
I woke up an unknown period of time later, finding myself in the Flamingo position, my right foot suspended in mid-air.
"What the hell is this," I exclaimed, taking note of a throbbing pain at the back of my neck and symptoms of a broken rib. I looked around, still in the Flamingo stance, and saw an unconscious Yori lying by the now empty Tempus Simia stand. Kim, however, was nowhere in sight.
Afraid that the Crimson Ape had taken Kim as a hostage, I put my foot down preparing to run out and search for her. Then the pain hit and I collapsed, screaming in pain. The foot that was in the Flamingo position, had apparently been broken. How though, I don't know. It felt like it had been snapped in half and then put through a shredder.
My screams were loud enough that Yori, who had apparently regained consciousness, and Hugh came running to my side.
"Are you okay?" Scratch that," Hugh cried in concern, "What hurts?"
"My foot. It feels like it snapped in two," I choked out, "Do you know where Kim is?"
"As far as I can tell she is still in the museum," Hugh relayed before explaining he saw the villains making their escape with the Tempus Simia.
"Tell me if this hurts," Yori said, testing each area of my foot. When she finished, she concluded, just like myself, that I had a broken foot.
"Now, where's Kim?" I asked.
"I'll search for her after I call the police," Hugh promised. He then went outside and left momentarily. While he was gone, Yori walked over to me.
"Where's Kim," I repeated, ignoring a huge black eye she had apparently received from fighting the Crimson Ape.
"I shall get her. I believe the plasma lady locked her in the sarcophagus," Yori replied.
"No, no. I'll get her." I assured. "Just help me move."
Yori didn't argue with me. Instead, she lifted me up and walked me over to the sarcophagus. I pulled it open to reveal a Kim with her hair pulled over her face.
"Thanks," Kim huffed. The three of us then walked back to the middle of the room, Kim with a big limp. I was laid down very carefully by Yori to the spot Hugh would return to.
"What happened to you, Ron?" Kim asked worriedly.
"I could ask you the same thing," I deflected, not knowing how to tell Kim I didn't remember how I injured myself. "What's with that huge limp?"
"It's nothing. I'll be fine," Kim promised, "So about the Crimson Ape…"
"Later," I replied, just as Hugh came back in and said, "I've contacted the police and ambulance. They should be on their way soon."
"Fine. We'll talk later," Kim promised, "Would you like me to find something to keep your leg elevated?"
"Foot," I corrected, "And yes, please. I'm in so much pain."
Before Kim could leave to find something to elevate my foot, Hugh stepped in, dropping down on all fours. I thanked him for the assist, to which he insisted was no big deal.
Time crept by much too slowly before the police and sirens could be heard. They were inside and checking out everyone for injuries minutes later.
"The name's Bobby James," an African American began, taking a seat next to me, "Are you the patient with the broken foot?"
"Yeah," I replied.
"Duncan! Bring the cast," Bobby James hollered. A white male, whose first name might have been Duncan, left quickly. Bobby James then turned back to me and asked, "Anything life-threatening we should know about before treating your foot?"
"I have no idea." I admitted, "I have a bump on the back of my head from hitting the wall and maybe a broken rib."
"I'm going to check you for a concussion." Bobby James announced.
I nodded while he ran through the concussion test with me. Meanwhile, Duncan came back with the cast, relieving Hugh of duty, and fit it on my foot. Fortunately for me, I didn't have a concussion. I did, however, have that broken rib.
"Now, after hitting the back of your head, did you lose consciousness for any reason?" Bobby James asked.
"Yes," I replied, "But I think it was stress induced. I've blacked out during times of fear and fighting."
"Well let's order a CAT Scan anyways. Better safe than sorry. So, talk to me about these times that you've blacked out."
I relayed what little I knew, which was ever since Monkey Fist tried to kill me about a year ago, I have had periods where I blacked out during times of fighting and fear. During that period, I was unaware of what I was doing but would regain consciousness after the stress had passed. I told him that about 6 weeks ago when I was fighting the Toxic Snowmen, that I lost consciousness 20 or 30 times for seconds at a time. I hadn't had another episode like that until today when I passed out and regained awareness with a broken rib and a broken foot.
"Tell the neurologist to look into Multiple Personality Disorder and Stress-induced blackouts," Duncan noted on a paper he had brought along.
Nearly 45 minutes later, the neurologist came back with the preliminary reading. "Your brain scans show no signs of fracture or bleeding. So that's good news," the head neurologist began, looking at the results in a folder he was presently carrying. "You lost consciousness because of fear essentially. This fear, most likely from a past event, created a barrier that prohibits you from making new memories during the times of extreme stress. You've said this has happened before which is natural for stress-induced blackouts. I think it would be best if you accept the way the brain is handling the situation, as undesirable as it may be. If these blackouts are still occurring within the next 5 to 10 years, I might suggest psychotherapy."
"Okay," I replied, satisfied by his findings.
"Now go home and get some rest," the head neurologist ordered.
I did just that.
Kim's P.O.V.
Several hours later, I limped into Home Room for my first class of the day. Last night had been super bad. Not only had the bad guy known as the Crimson Ape escaped with the bottom half of the Tempus Simia, but he (or she) had effectively beaten me and that girl I teamed up with singlehandedly. Teleportation. Possibly telepathy; Yori and I weren't able to land a single strike on the Crimson Ape. Power. Creating earthquakes and wind? And they had teamed up with Shego and Duff Killigan. It was too much for me. I also wondered where Drakken was. No way the cloaked being was Drakken, for he was too tall and much too skilled.
"Possible," Barkin called out from his attendance list, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Here," I cried, not giving him much attention. Instead, I went back to my thoughts.
'Who was that girl that I fought with? She was certainly capable of fighting. She moved quickly and gracefully like a ninja. A ninja!'
"That's it," I exclaimed aloud.
"What's it?" Barkin shot back.
"I figured out a problem I was working on." I relayed. The mystery girl was someone named Yori. She was Japanese and had probably met Ron at Yamanouchi School. When and why did she come to Middleton though? Why had Ron kept her a secret from me for so long? So many questions needed to be answered, but they would have to wait until I saw Ron next.
That chance came during 6th Period, Geometry, as he stumbled into class a minute or two after the late bell. He was moving awkwardly with 2 crutches to support the cast on his right foot. What had happened at the museum that caused him to break his foot?
"That looks like a serious injury, Mr. Stoppable." Mrs. Whisp, the school's math teacher and a witty old woman in her 50's, commented.
"It is. I'll have it for a while," Ron replied to my dismay.
"Well then, glad you could join us." Mrs. Whisp sincerely replied, "I'll excuse your tardiness. Now, until you get your feet back on the ground, pun intended, you'll need to keep that foot elevated. There are no free desks available at the moment, so do you mind just standing in the back for today's lesson?"
"That will be fine," Ron assured, settling in the corner closest to the door.
Satisfied, Mrs. Whisp began today's lesson on parallel and perpendicular lines.
After class had ended, I made my way to Ron and asked him, "Did you break your foot last night?"
"Unfortunately, yes," Ron answered, ducking his chin under his shirt.
"How did it happen?"
"I don't remember."
I shot Ron a double take. He couldn't remember? Or he didn't want to tell me? Either way, I wasn't satisfied.
"What can you tell me about Yori?" I demanded, "I recognized her as being the injured ninja from maybe 2 months ago."
Ron just shot me a weak smile and vaguely replied that she was his tutor from Japan and that she had been staying in an apartment in Middleton. She had come over here to avoid Monkey Fist and see Ron, per her father's request.
"Do you know who the Crimson Ape is? What did the Crimson Ape mean when it said you weren't worthy of the power you've received? Are you the Great Blue?" I fired.
"Not the person behind the mask. I know he is considered to be an enemy to the Great Blue," Ron relayed just as quickly. "Also, I don't know what he meant when he said I wasn't worthy. I believe I am the Great Blue, but I'm not sure what that means."
I sat on that information and wished Ron luck, traveling back to my locker. I needed to contact our supergenius, Wade, and see the tape of last night's fight so I could see how Ron got injured. I also needed to see if he could dig up anything on the Great Blue and or the Crimson Ape.
After doing that and completing my last class of the day, I headed to Global Justice. I hadn't heard any news about Monkey Fist in a long time and was wondering whether or not he was still in Japan. It only made sense for Monkey Fist to team up with Duff Killigan and Shego.
After going through their security, I met up with Dr. Director Betty.
"Kim Possible," Dr. Director Betty greeted, "I assume you had questions about the Crimson Ape."
"How did you," I began. I then decided it wasn't important and affirmed, "Yeah. What do you know? Is Monkey Fist still in Japan?"
"Our sources say Monkey Fist is still in Japan. That's all they will tell me. He most certainly hasn't left Japan though because Japan is under a no-fly zone and it's been confirmed that nothing has come to or left Japan." Dr. Director Betty answered, "With regards to your second question, we don't know who the Crimson Ape is. We've measured him at 6'3". Now, the man known as Monkey Fist is only 5'10", so it's not him. But that's about all we know, aside from the fact that he can somehow produce miniature earthquakes, which by all accounts is impossible."
"Don't forget about the teleportation and creating wind," I added.
Dr. Director Betty shot me a look and said, "That must have been after the camera shorted out."
"What? Sabotage?" I quested in disappointment. It was unlikely now that Wade got anything off of the cameras that would tell me how Ron had broken his foot.
"No. It was some sort of electromagnetic interference not recognizable by our tech experts." Dr. Director Betty revealed, much to my surprise. "But before it happened, Duff Killigan was charging at Ron Stoppable and it picked back up after his foot had been broken."
"Ron told me he doesn't have any memory of fighting Killigan. I don't know if that's true, but could you look into that?"
Dr. Director Betty promised she would and asked, "Do you mind if we debrief you on last night's mission?"
I said that would be okay and was in the middle of describing my fight with the Crimson Ape when Will Du, an arrogant Global Justice agent who treated everyone else as amateurs, burst in.
"A plane registered to Montgomery Fiske just broke Hawaii's airspace and is headed south towards Australia." Will Du interrupted.
Dr. Director Betty excused herself and left to discuss this situation with Will Du. I was able to catch the words Shego and Killigan a few times, but they spoke too low for me to catch any information of use. Finally, Will Du left and Dr. Director Betty came back to me.
"Killigan, Shego, and this unknown villain are headed for Australia where they plan on obtaining the second half of the Tempus Simia idol. I need to get you on a plane and travel down to wherever they are headed and stop them." Director Betty ordered.
Worried about a numbers advantage, I asked if I had to leave immediately, or could recruit some people to help me with this mission.
Thinking it over quickly, Director Betty gave me an hour to gather recruits before I needed to leave. I thanked her profusely and headed out.
Stopping by Ron's house, I picked up Yori and used their phone to call a few people. Unfortunately, of the 4 people I called, only Monique tagged along. She was super excited to participate in a mission, though she might not feel the same way after her first mission.
Using one of Global Justice's Superspeed Aircrafts, we made the journey in about 10 hours, right around the time Monkey Fist's aircraft landed.
Before we landed, the piolet announced the 'bogies' were directly under us and to skydive our way down. Monique was flat out terrified and initially refused to jump out of the plane. It took a few tries to coax her into it, but she eventually followed Yori and me out.
When we landed, Monique was shaking and looked pale. After vomiting, she quipped, "Well this mission is off to a bad start. Where to?"
"Two and a half miles that way," I directed, pointing a finger north. Shifting around in my pocket, I took out 3 mini Tech paragliding devices.
"Here. Use this so we don't tire out before the fight." I continued, passing one to Yori and Monique.
I activated the first device followed by Monique and Yori, the latter almost being decapitated by the device that activated late. After she got over the scare, we drove the remaining distance in a few minutes.
When we arrived, we found Duff Killigan, Shego, and the Crimson Ape waiting for us.
"So you brought along Monique instead of the Great Blue," the Crimson Ape reported in his modulated voice. He then burst out into a peal of laughter that sounded sinister with the modulator.
I froze in horror. How did the Crimson Ape know who Monique was? I was almost certain now that the Crimson Ape wasn't Monkey Fist. He had never seen Monique, of that I was certain. But then who was the Crimson Ape?
Monique, however, went on the offensive.
"Who the hell are you? Mr. Terror?" Monique demanded, not showing any fear.
"I AM God," the Crimson Ape answered with a roar. He, or she, jumped and levitated in mid-air and then shot tiny bolts of lightning from his palms.
I rolled sideways and the lightning bolt struck a nearby tree, setting it on fire.
'Can't do anything about that,' I thought, picking myself back up.
"Fore!" Duff Killigan cried, launching off a shot that landed near Monique.
"Golf balls?" Monique asked in confusion, "That ain't gonna hurt me."
'Yes it will,' I thought, racing towards Monique. I heard the beeping sound of the explosive as I kicked it up and sent it into the sky where it exploded. Again, Monique paled.
Before she could say something, I spotted a green ball of plasma heading towards Monique.
Grabbing Monique's wrist, I grabbed her and pinned her down as the blast passed us. However, my reaction wasn't quite fast enough as Monique let out a chilling scream.
I whirled around and saw that her pinky and ring finger had been burned off.
"I'm out." Monique cried, running away from the fight scene. Tears threatened to spill but I turned back to fight the villains.
I was next bombarded by a huge gust of wind that blew me back several yards. Upon recovering from that, I saw Shego coming at me, her hands leaking plasma. I was able to register that the Crimson Ape and Yori were nowhere to be seen, but couldn't process where they had gone as I barely managed to avoid Shego and Killigan's coordinated assault.
I dodged and ducked and dove and back flipped in desperation, but I was wearing myself out.
Before I even had a chance to put up any sort of offense, one of Shego's well-placed blasts knocked down a nearby tree which fell on my back, leaving me in a lot of pain and effectively pinned. To my surprise, the villains left and Yori came.
"Can you help get this off of me?" I pleaded, "We need to stop Killigan and Shego before..."
"Not as important as making sure you're okay and Monique gets home." Yori insisted, trying to lift the tree off me. Needless to say, she was unsuccessful. Monique came out from wherever she was hiding and the two of them tried to lift the tree off me. On their 4th try, I rolled out.
"Do you have any way of contacting someone to pick us up?" Yori asked.
Straining to reach my Kimmunicator from my back pocket, I opened up a channel to Wade and asked him to set up a ride back to Middleton and to scan my back for damage.
Wade didn't ask any questions, rather he scanned my back and contacted Global Justice to pick us up. Meanwhile, he told me my diagnosis, a fracture in my back. It would take several months to fully heal but with rest, I might be able to participate in limited movement in a few days.
During the flight back, I was given medication for my back pain and I kept on apologizing to Monique who couldn't stand to be near me. She cried most of the way home and stayed in the back of the plane where she sat with Yori.
Over the next few days, I went to school in a back brace provided by Global Justice. The looks of pity just about killed me emotionally. Not being able to help people hurt more than the back pain, which hurt like hell.
To my extreme disappointment, I was told the villainous trio was back and would try and restore the Monkey Statue in a temple in Rwanda, Africa. I fought like hell to be allowed to travel to fight and won! I would have to wear the back brace for the roughly 8600 mile trip as a compromise.
When that time came, I journeyed with Yori who meditated and slept the entire trip. We finally landed right next to the temple where I eagerly took off the back brace.
"That's so liberating." I exclaimed, "It still hurts, but I think I can fight. I won't try a backflip for several weeks though."
"Well, I wish you luck," Yori proclaimed, "Let's stop this man...or woman."
Together, Yori and I entered the temple and were surprised to find the villains sitting around waiting for the sun to come over the small opening in the ceiling.
"In 120 seconds, give or take, the head needs to connect with the body." The Crimson Ape stated, perhaps unintentionally giving us a time table to stop the idol from being completed.
"Well then, you won't mind if we steal it," Yori shouted, alerting the villains to our presence.
"I'll lend you the head, but you will give it back to me before I complete the statue." The Crimson Ape boasted, tossing Yori the monkey's head to everyone's shock. "Now get it back for me."
With a nudge, Duff Killigan and Shego came running towards us.
"It's a game of keep away," Yori reasoned, letting me in on the plan, to my satisfaction. She ran off in one direction with Shego while I ran the other direction, albeit with some pain. I was much quicker than Duff so getting open was no challenge. Yori proved to have great aim, much like myself, and we kept it away from the two for a long time until we didn't. With perhaps only seconds left, Yori threw it in my direction before being bulldozed by Shego. I went left but had to drop into the splits so Killigan's golf club didn't give my face a makeover. Unfortunately, his golf club made contact with the idol's head and launched it back to the Crimson Ape who put the statue in place.
When the sun struck the idol, a shockwave of red energy went out in all directions, knocking everyone to the floor. I wasn't able to get up quickly enough, but I saw Killigan and Shego racing towards the portal that had appeared behind the Crimson Ape. Yori was on both of their tails.
"We'll meet again, Kim Possible. In time." The Crimson Ape bade farewell as he stepped into the portal followed by Shego and Killigan. The portal closed just before Yori dove in, resulting in a bellyflop.
I sunk my head in my hands. What did we just do? We failed big time. From here on out, I was clueless, but one thing was for sure. The Crimson Ape would get everything he desired and that scared me.
Vote! Vote! Vote! Since it has already been finished, I will likely post Kim Possible: A sitch in Time: Past by the end of the month. I hope you enjoy this chapter and the ones to come.
