Chapter 6

It's a rainy Wednesday and no one has called in anything. The office blinds are open so the rain could be seen on the window. The rain always seem so romantic to Hikari. "You can only go out if it's cloudy or rainy, right, Shido?"

"Yeah. Why do you ask?" he questions.

"Because I want to go on another date with you." She smiles at him. "Not a 'date' date, you know?" she blushes, too.

He shrugs. "Why not?" He grabs his coat and umbrella and they both head out. Guni stayed to watch the rain. Shido opens his black umbrella so they don't get wet. The pitter patter of the rain was soothing as they walked. They talk and laugh at jokes that Hikari told. He didn't think he'd ever laughed this hard in his whole existence. He looks her over and asks without thinking,"Don't you get cold wearing a skirt?"

"It doesn't bother me. I've had to get used to it when I went to school."

"Oh, I see."

Hikari holds onto his arm. "Thanks for going out with me. It's more fun being out in the rain with someone."

Shido blushed a little and replies,"You're welcome."

People pass them by like they weren't there. Actually it was like Shido and Hikari was the only people in the world. If it got any better than this, Hikari thought that she'd be light as a feather and fly away.

"Hey, I'm sorry... for making you cry the other day." Shido says to her. "I didn't mean to hurt you or upset you."

She looks up at him with a soft smile and her warm brown eyes. "I forgive you. You was just wanting to protect me." She gives him a kiss on the cheek.

His glittering emerald green eyes looked into her glowing orbs of warmth and found himself craving that same warmth she had. He stops walking. "Hikari?"

She stops and walks in front of him, facing him. His lilac colored hair moved a bit in the freezing rain breeze. Her eyes question him. She was silent, watching him, staring at him like in her dream.

'You're like the sun that I long for.' He wanted to say that to her but didn't know if he could. Instead he lowers his face down to hers to kiss her on the lips. Hikari was dumbfounded for a second or two but then closed her eyes to savor this moment. Blood rushed hotly up her neck and to her face, her heart pumping it through her veins. Her hot lips felt good on his cool mouth.

Shido pulls her close to him and let heat be asborbed by his body. 'I want this... This warm light...' He let go so as not to keep this going for too long or he might lose control of himself. They was now catching their breath for the kiss had taken their breath away. Their breath was puffs of smoke.

"Shido..." her voice even melted like warm butter. Her eyes was sparkling. Her hand slowly brushes his bangs, her fingers lightly stroking his forehead. With her hand resting at her side, she asked him,"Would you like to come to my place this weekend?" It was an invitation.

"Yeah." he accepted. He didn't know what to say besides one word sentences.

They both didn't realize that they had walked so far in town that they would have to run to make it back to the Kanagawa police station on time. It was a lunch break and they were going to be late to be back at the office. What happened between them would be hush-hush... a secret between them.
