"Elphaba!" She shouted as the green woman tore past her. She didn't understand what was going on.

She ran up the stairs after her, crashing into the room shortly after her. She hadn't realised where they were until she saw Elphaba hunched over the book.

Elphaba looked up as the blonde ran in before she could read from the book.
"She's going to kill you and rule Oz!" Tears filled her eyes. "She's me! She is me I need to stop her, it's in here!" She turned back to the book tears falling to the brown pages.

"No Elphaba. No she isn't" She said, rushing over and pushing the book away.

"The answer isn't on those pages. I know it." She said, pulling her into a hug.

"I know you don't want to" She began, "But you have to trust me" She finished, unknowingly echoing the letter.

Elphaba's body shook in the blonde's arms with a soft cackle.
"Looks like we both need to gain Elphaba's trust." She moved fast and grabbed Glinda by the neck. "No head start this time my pretty, I need to kill you now before you can ruin anymore of my plans."

Glinda's heart froze at the cackle and before she knew it hands were on her neck.

"No!" She screeched, panic rapidly rising in her as her airway was restricted. Her hands scrabbled at her throat as she tried to use her feet to propel herself backwards, but she couldn't find any purchase on the smooth wooden floor.

The witch cackled as she moved the blond to sit in a chair in the corner of the room as she tightened her hold on her neck.
"No more interfering with my plans! I will rule Oz and show the Ozians just how Wicked they have made me!"

"Elphaba" She gasped, struggling to breathe, "Please"

Her hands grappled uselessly at her neck, the Witch wasn't loosening her hold.

The witch grinned as she tightened her hold. Intent on watching the life drain from the blonde one way or another.

She couldn't breathe anymore, all leeway gone. Her eyes went wide as her attempts became more frantic, hands scrabbling at the back of Elphaba's, nails catching skin and drawing blood. She couldn't move her legs for the way the witch stood over her. She couldn't do a thing.

Except die.

That was what the Witch wanted. Maybe she coudl trick her? She made a show of jerking her chest forward as if she was spasming with lack of breath. Her hands became limp and she let them fall away, jerking to a stop at her sides, they hung uselessly. She let her eyes flutter closed.

She prayed it would work. She was running out of oxygen.

The witch smiled and relaxed her hand as she let Elphaba take control again.
Elphaba gasped as she felt as if she awoke again this time to find her own hands around a limp Glinda's neck.
"No!" She screamed flying back and toppling over her own to feet in her panic.
"No! Glinda! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Tears sprang to her eyes as she buried her face in her knees.
"I'm sorry!" Her voice was a whimper now as she sobbed.

Glinda remained motionless in the chair, actually letting herself fall onto the floor as the pressure was released, letting gravity move her. She didn't dare show Elphaba she was alive, lest the Witch take hold again. She was going to have to play dead.

Carefully she took shallow little breaths, trying not to move her chest. She prayed Elphaba wouldn't have the sense to look for a pulse. She had not doubt the Witch would take control again the moment she realised she was alive.

"No no no no no!" Elphaba hissed as she saw Glinda slip to the floor.
"I'm sorry Glinda. Don't worry I'll end this!" Elphaba cried as she stood and ran from the room quickly. She knew how to end this. "You will not win!" Tears ran down her face burning her skin as she ran to the kitchen grabbing the largest knife she could.

When Elphaba fled the room she lifted her head. She hadn't liked the sound of that statement at all.

To end it. It sounded like a death sentence.

She got to her feet as quietly as she could and snuck down the hallways. She kept her breaths shallow, not wanting to alert either Elphaba or the Witch to the fact that she was alive. It would be far too dangerous.

She reached the kitchen and peered through a crack between the door where it hung on its hinges.

Elphaba quickly shoved the knife into her abdomen screaming in pain as she did so.
She collapsed to the floor for a moment before she slowly got to her hands and knees.
"Oh why must you be so difficult!" The witch hissed in pain as she dragged herself over to the cupboards pulling down a towel to press it to the wound.
She gripped the counter hard as she slowly made her way to her feet.
"Glinda's already dead, why must you fight me?" She slowly made her way to the door of the kitchen using the walls and counters for support.
"This won't stop me! I'll never let you see the light of day again Elphaba! The Wicked Witch is here to stay and no one will ever figure out how to stop me!" She cackled before hissing in pain as the gash in her stomach was jostled.

Glinda nearly ran into the room as she saw Elphaba stab herself. But she stopped short upon hearing the Witch's voice. Now what did she do? She couldn't let Elphaba die! But if she went in there the Witch might kill her! She sped away and grabbed that little bottle of magic oil Elphaba used. Perhaps if she put it within the Witch's view…

She hurried downstairs and placed it on a table in the hallway before kicking the door rather loudly and speeding off down the corridor, making sure she was out of sight. She prayed this would work.

The witch turned sharply as she heard the kick to the door. She moved faster to the hall and looked around. Surprised to find the healing oil bottle on the table in the hall.
"Glinda," she hissed even as she grabbed the oil and spread it over the bleeding wound before pouring it onto the rag and holding it to her abdomen with a hiss of pain.
"Oh my pretty is a smart little thing." She called knowing she wouldn't have gone too far.
"Worried about your friend too much for your own good!" She moved down the hall to her room for her supplies slowly growing more and more steady as the oil started to work.
