Furies' Anger

Disclaimer: I don't own any of this.

She's been in some pretty tight spots over the years but never had Aoife ever experienced something like the Furies' Lair after Henry Mills' magic. Passing through the portal had only made the wind pick up, until entire chunks of rock were being sucked through.

Aoife had fallen to the ground and held on the best she could as pieces of the cave were being thrown around her. The Furies were being taken too, their screams fading through the red mist. She knew her weapons were gone, both her swords missing. Her nails dug into the dirt, trying desperately to hang on.

A moment later, the adrenaline pumping through her brain ceased and her mind cleared. Why the hell was trying to stay? She wanted to go through the portal; the portal meant seeing her father.

She glanced back, her hair flying her eyes as she tried to see the portal. They were unpredictable things, always depending on who you were thinking of at the time. The dirt began to give way just as the entire roof of the lair got sucked into the portal.

What had Henry said-family always finds each other? She really hoped that was true.

Gritting her teeth, Aoife let go and felt the wind catch her. It was like she was a child again but this time, she really hoped this portal was taking her home.

Barely a day had passed since Henry had returned. He had never been so happy for running water or a hot meal that he didn't have to shoot himself. All he wanted was to curl up on his mom's couch and have hot chocolate with cinnamon. He got his wish but instead of going to sleep, he was answering questions.

Killian was sitting on the edge of the armchair, leaning forward as if to catch every detail about Aoife from Henry's mouth.

"She's about seventeen now, just taller than me. She's got black hair and blue eyes and-and she's got these little scars all over her arms from fighting Furies."

Killian winched, imagining his little girl standing up to those creatures all on her own. Emma was sitting beside Henry on the couch. "Are you sure that she'll be able to get through the portal; you did say that there were a lot of Furies?"

Henry snorted and looked over at Killian again. "If anyone can get here, faced with impossible odds, it's Aoife. She knows how to fight them, knows their weak spots. She'll come, she will."

He seemed so sure of this, it gave Killian more hope. His daughter had always been a fighter, scrappy and determined. If she had survived this long, she would come back to him.

"Tell me more about her?" he asked, "How long did you spend with her?"

Henry kept talking, filling them both in on his adventures. He drank his hot chocolate and Emma wrapped the blanket tighter around his shoulders.

It was a little while later when the door opened and David walked in with Gold. "There were more Fury and Portal sightings; it's moved into the forest," David stated, brushing a hand over his busted lip. "Those creatures move pretty fast."

"And magic is proving very ineffective against them," Gold added.

"Don't worry!" Henry said, "When Aoife gets here, she'll be able to tell us how to really kill them. We can't rely on arrows alone. They'll catch on and find some way to avoid them."

Emma raised an eyebrow at him. "Well, look at you and your battle strategy."

Henry grinned widely. "Aoife's a good teacher."

Killian cleared his throat and stood up. "I want to go and search the woods near where the portal has been seen. Aoife might have come through and been knocked unconscious."

"That's a long shot, Killian," David said, "We don't even know if she's come through at all."

There was another booming in the sky, so loud that it shook the apartment. The sky flashed red once and then turned back to the usual blue.

"What was that?" Emma asked her hand protectively over Henry's knee.

"That was a bit more violent than other times the portal has appeared," David commented as he went to look out the window.

"I've seen that before," Gold commented, "It happens every time a portal finally closes itself off. I think that's the last we'll see of the Land between Worlds."

Killian snapped around to stare at him. "Then Aoife must have come through," he exclaimed, "She must be here already."

Emma stood up and went to stand beside him. "Maybe yes, but that also means that there could be far more Furies out there as well. Everyone is taking cover and we can't just run out there blindly. We need a plan."

Killian didn't have time for plans, he had to find Aoife.

She winched as nearly every bone in her body hurt. Aoife twisted around to lie on her back, groaning as she tried to catalogue her injuries. Definitely had some bruised ribs, she was covered in scratches and her back ached.

Aoife blinked up at the sky, taking in the blue colour. She could see the tops of trees and for one terrifying moment, she thought the portal hadn't worked. She shot up into the sitting position which set a line of fire up her back. But when she looked to her right, there was no mistaking the modern road that blazed through the forest. It was covered with that black stuff Henry had described.

With a grunt, Aoife picked herself up and hobbled towards it. Her boots hit the hard surface and she looked left and right. With a sigh, she picked right and started to walk. Her mouth felt like sandpaper and there were moments when he vision went blurry but she kept going. This must be Storybrooke; her father must be here.

She kept walking until some buildings came into sight. Then they lined up into streets and Aoife could hear screaming. There were more and more people coming into sight, people she recognised from the Land. Even those she didn't know, she could pick them out because of their clothes. Obviously, she was not the only person who had been sucked through the portal's supersized vacuum. People just ran past her, some giving her a double take but scampering away even faster. It was when Aoife heard the familiar screeching of the Furies did she understood why.

She peeked around a corner and looked around a much large street with a clock tower in the middle of it. There was a group of people lined across it like an army, facing the largest of the Furies. Aoife had met it once or twice; it had been that Fury who had tried to convince her to finally turn. She was about to spin around and find someplace to heal, when she caught sight of him.

Killian Jones was standing beside a blonde woman and Henry himself, dressed in modern clothes and looking not a day older than the last time she had seen him. "Papa," she whispered, clinging to the bricks of the building.

Her vision swam again but she took a breath and forced herself to focus.

"I can smell her," the Fury hissed, its talons cracking the road's surface. "I can smell the Fury Girl...hand her over!"

Aoife couldn't hear what reply Henry gave the Fury but it obviously didn't go down well. The creature looked ready to pounce. Aoife put her back to the wall, feeling the adrenaline pump through her again. Her father was there, after all these years and some Fury was standing in the way.

Her face hardened and she suddenly remembered something Henry had said one night. He had been given up for his best chance. But she hadn't; she had been taken. Her father had been her best chance.

She patted herself down, only to remember that she had no weapons. Cursing, Aoife looked around for anything she could use. Suddenly, she remembered exactly what she had done with her last dagger.

As she rounded the corner and marched down the street, she really hoped that Henry had too.

There was a Fury in the middle of Main Street again. It had landed on top of a car and crushed it, before sliding off to block the road. Its wings were huge but its talons and teeth were sharp as knives.

People ran screaming, including those confused ones who had popped out of the last portal. Emma, her parents, Gold and Regina quickly gathered to confront it. To both Emma and Regina's displeasure, Henry joined them. Killian and Grumpy were there too and while everyone expected a fight, it wasn't exactly what they got.

The Fury crouched over the road, hissing. "Give me the Fury Girl," it demanded, leaving everyone confused.

It was Henry who replied. "Aoife's not here! We don't know where she is."

The Fury just screamed again and weapons were drawn. "I can smell her! I can smell the Fury Girl...hand her over!"

"Well, when she gets here she can kick your ass," Henry yelled back.

This did not get a friendly response. The Fury set its eyes on Henry and Emma pushed him behind her. But he shoved himself back to the front of the group with a grin.

As the Fury started to rant and rave about traitors and liars, a girl made her way down the street. She looked wounded and her clothes were dirty but her glare was trained on the Fury.

And after seeing her once, Killian knew. It was Aoife. She still looked like him but had grown into a beautiful young woman. He felt his breath catch when he saw the blood on her clothes but he also saw her nod to Henry.

Somehow, the boy knew what she needed and he slowly reached behind him to pull a dagger out from under his jacket. He slid it across the ground, sending it right past the Fury. The creature laughed at what it thought was a pathetic attempt at a fight.

But Aoife scooped up the dagger and when the Fury turned, she stabbed it in between its ribs. The Fury gasped and Aoife said, "You always did talk too much."

Then the Fury exploded, sending ash through the air.

"Aoife!" Henry called happily and the girl blinked through the dust to smile at him. But then her eyes went unfocused and she stumbled backwards. Killian was at her side like a shot, catching her before she hit the road. Aoife blinked wearily, looking up at him.

"Papa?" she croaked out and Killian nodded. He pushed her dark hair back and smiled. "It's alright now, you made it. You came back."

Aoife tried to grin but she quickly fell unconscious. Killian picked her up, even if she was much bigger since the last time he had held her.

"We need to get her to the hospital," Emma said, "Where's my damn car?"

Killian followed Emma to her little yellow bug, muttering as he went. "It's ok, Papa's here. I'm here now."

Aoife was tucked up in a hospital bed, still resting. Killian was one side of the bed while Henry was at the other. Emma had gone to find coffee.

Dr. Whale had been uncertain about giving Aoife medicine that her body wasn't used to so Gold and Regina used magic to heal her. She had been beaten badly but somehow found the last bit of strength to stop the Fury.

Killian held her hand, his eyes still watching her. She had changed so much and yet he still saw that little girl who got into mischief.

Henry sighed and stood up, reaching into his pocket for change. "I'm going to get some chocolate bars from the vending machine. I promised Aoife I'd get her some when we got back to Storybrooke."

Killian smiled at his kindness and Henry walked out of the room. Stretching slightly on the chair, he nearly missed Aoife's face twitching.

But when she groaned out loud, Killian snapped his attention over to her. "Aoife? Aoife, are you awake?" he asked softly and she opened her eyes with a confused scowl.

This cleared up when she focused on him. "Papa!" she exclaimed and he scooped her up in a tight hug.

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you," he said, tears clogging up his throat.

Aoife wasn't doing much better, her hand clinging to his jacket. "Me too."

Killian pulled back enough to look at her face. "I am so sorry sweetheart. I should have held on to you tighter. I shouldn't-."

"It's ok," Aoife replied, "That doesn't matter anymore. I forgave you long ago and there was nothing much to forgive anyway."

Killain smiled and kissed her forehead just as Henry came back in. It took him a moment to realise she was awake but then he was hugging her.

Aoife laughed and patted his back. "It's good to see you too kid."

Henry let her go and they helped to swing her legs over the bed. "I feel much better," she said, "Did someone heal me?"

Killian nodded, still concerned over her moving so soon after the fight. "Yup Gold and my Mom did-my other mom, Regina," Henry explained.

Aoife nodded and raised an eyebrow at her father. "Are you as confused about their situation as I am?"

"You have no idea," he replied. Aoife went to stand up but Killian held her arm.

"Easy, you just fell through a portal and fought off a Fury."

Aoife sat back again and stretched out her muscles instead. Her stomach suddenly grumbled and Henry reached into his pocket.

He pulled out a few chocolate bars and handed them to her. "Welcome to Storybrooke," he exclaimed and Aoife laughed.

"Thanks Henry, I'm guessing these are the best welcome gifts?"

He shrugged and replied, "Well, hot chocolate with cinnamon is also pretty good. Not to mention pancakes at Granny's! We can go get some at breakfast and then I can show you the bay and the library and the-."

"Slow down Henry," Killian said, chuckling, "Give her some time to adjust."

"Right now, all I want to do it sleep," Aoife admitted but after she spoke there was a screaming.

All three of them got up and stared out the window. In the distance, there was a group of Furies flying over the forest. They weren't attacking but they were letting people know they were there.

"That Fury I stopped before," Aoife said, "It was the leader; the rest of them must be preparing for a last attack."

"We can stop them," Henry said, "If we can walk into their lair and get out then we can defend on our own ground."

Killian wrapped an arm around Aoife's shoulders. "It's a good thing I'm in the mood for a Fury fight," he said with a grin.
