AN: I apologise in advance! I thought I had uploaded a few chapter but I only seem to have 6 chapters in this story! Sorry it's been a very long time for a update but here goes! If you can't remember what is going on this is it, Marshall is at Mary's for the second night as he tried to sort stuff out with Abigail but she said they needed time apart. Mary and Marshall watched 'Expendables' and seemed to get reasonably close. Marshall broke it up by going to bed, but now they're both awake as someone is tapping at the door.

"Get back Marshall, get back!" Mary shouted as quietly as she could. She opened the door, peering her head round to see who it was before she fully opened the door. She was stunned. She pushed the door open, she couldn't even believe these words wee about to come out of her mouth. Marshall couldn't see anything from his position in the hallway although he knew Mary was shocked. The smell of whiskey from the figure at the door was very abrupt, as soon as Mary opened the door it struck her. 'You, you, better come in.' She led the figure to the kitchen stools, ensuring it was sat with it's back to Marshall who was still in the hallway, like Mary told him to be. 'So what are you doing here?' Mary stumbled with her words. Silence wasn't so much golden at this minute. All the tall figure could do was stare at the kitchen table where it was sat, until their head looked up to face Mary. 'Well then!' Mary said. The figure cleared his throat, 'you deserve an explanation', Marshall knew exactly who it was as soon as he heard his voice, Marshall made himself taller and in the eye site of Mary. Mary glanced at him telling him to get back in, he still wasn't listening, but then she gave him that look, and he couldn't ignore that, he crept back into cover. Mary stared at the figure, "so come on then, give me an explanation..Kenny!" She couldn't quite believe she actually said those words.

"Mare, now I know you must be angry.." Kenny was interrupted. "First of all, it's Mary to you, continue." She said sharply. "Ok. But Mary, please listening to me?" Kenny asked, Mary nodded and he continued, "I really didn't intend to hurt you, me and Abigail go way back before her and Marshall even met," Mary looked puzzled, so Kenny paused for a little bit, then continued, "I'm from Texas. That's my birthplace, I went to school with Abigail, all the way up to college, we were in the same classes, although she was always a lot cleverer. We lost contact in our second year at college, we both done different subjects but studied at the same college. I guessed she moved here to be a cop, I know her Dad was the best in his section back at home." Kenny paused again. Mary was even more stunned, she kept on checking on Marshall, who was even more confused than Mary, he didn't even know about her Dad being a cop. "That's no excuse is it? Anything else?" Mary grumbled, trying not too look at Kenny too much. "Let me continue," Kenny cleared his throat, "when I moved here, with my ex, Abigail wasn't here, however when she moved here, she contacted me straight away, I seen her a few times, before Marshall was even the picture, and I don't mean have sex with her, I mean we just had coffee and chatted about school. She told me about her new told as a detective in the Albuquerque department, she seemed thrilled to be following in her Dads footsteps. She knew I'd split up with my ex and she see Oliver quite a few times also. When I got with you I explained that I didn't just want sex and that I was quite fond of you" Mary laughed, Kenny blushed but continued "I don't think she knew who you were until Stan's leaving party, she mentioned that she and Marshall were having trouble at home because he couldn't 'release' his partner, I didn't know what that meant until I seen you and Marshall at Stan's leaving dinner. You have something special and honestly that night made me think if I could compete with that." Kenny stopped. Mary and Marshall were staring at each other. What had Kenny just said. "Mary, are you alright?" Kenny interrupted Mary's stare, he turned his head around where Mary was staring at. Luckily Marshall moved sharply as soon as he seen Kenny move. "No no I'm fine, just trying to get my head around all of this, carry on please." She coughed then let him continue.

"After the leaving dinner I didn't want anything to do with her, not sexually, I couldn't believe I didn't make the connection. Anyways, we seen each other once after that but it wasn't organised. We bumped into each other in the mall. We talked but that was it. She texted me. It was a bit hitty-missy texts at weird times of the days. She last text me on Thursday morning. She said her and Marshall had an argument and she needed someone to talk. I couldn't not go, I didn't go until a little after lunch time. She seemed a little shaken at first, it was really weird. I didn't intend in having sex with her, honestly that was not the intention. She needed help." Kenny coughed which was perfect timing for Mary to butt in. "So, let me get this straight, you two go back way before Albuquerque, you had sex when she came here but you didn't know that she was going with Marshall, at Stan's leaving dinner you knew who she was but cut it off, then she asked you for help the you talked to her and ended up having sex even though you knew who she was? Do I have it right?" Mary said in a sarcastic tone. "I know it sounds silly but that's the truth Mary, I didn't even know her and Marshall were planning on getting married. She never had a ring on, which doesn't make this situation any better I know. I want you to know I never meant to hurt you." "Well oh jeez thanks" Mary said sarcastically. Marshall couldn't believe what he just heard. As if his week wasn't bad enough. He zoned back into Mary and Kenny's conversation "are you sure I can't get you some ice for your eye and a glass of water" Mary continued as she got closer to Kenny to check his eye, "that would be great thanks, he sure has quite a hit. Don't blame the guy, I'd do the same if I found him on you." Kenny stopped himself from saying anything else. Mary laughed, "that wouldn't happen, I wouldn't cheat for starters." Kenny laughed too. "Listen Mary, I'm really sorry, thanks for the ice and the water. I best be off now, I don't blame you if you don't call me, I just thought you deserved to know the truth. How is Marshall? Have you seen him? Is he here?" Kenny noticed the two water bottles in the lounge. "No and even if he was that isn't your concern, you're lucky he didn't kill you Kenny, I've only ever seen him like that once, I don't know what you would have done if I wasn't there to stop him." Mary sighed. "You better go, and get yourself sober, or at least a better smelling breath." She stood up from the kitchen stool and came around to Kenny's stool, so he didn't look into the hallway, Mary walked him to the door, "thank you for this Mary" Kenny sighed, "this doesn't change anything Kenny." Mary pointed out, "go, you best be on your way." Kenny stumbled down the street, his tall figure stumbled down the street and Mary shut the door when it faded, she turned around and slouched herself against the door, letting out a big sigh.

She closed her eyes in what seemed like forever, but it was only a coupe seconds. She suddenly remembered about Marshall. She opened her eyes to find Marshall sat in front of her. He was sat opposite her her, but not too close. He wrapped his arms around his knees and had his back curved towards Mary, he laud close attention to her glassy eyes and soft blonde hair. Marshall didn't care about what he just heard about Abigail, his focus was Mary. He could see that she was hurt. Marshall whispered softly "Hey Mare, are you ok?", he leaned towards her, but not too close. Mary didn't have any words at this minute, she'd been coping all week with this, then Kenny showed up and she fell apart. Mary opened her mouth, but the words just couldn't come out, Marshall nodded at her, meaning he was staying until she told him what was going on. " I, I just don't understand." Mary murmured, she sat herself up straight and rubbed her eyes. "What do you think? Do you think any of it is true?" Mary sighed again and looked at Marshall for the first time since they were on the floor. Marshall interrupted her deep stare, " I honestly don't know at the minute, I want to make sure you're okay" that last part slipped out, he didn't mean to say it. "I'm ok, just trying to piece it all up. Help me up." Mary rubbed her eyes for the final time. Marshall put his hand out to help Mary up. She smiled at him uncomfortably, he couldn't help but smile back and brung her in for a cuddle. Mary longed it be held.

I apologise again about the lack of updates but my focus is this story now! What is going on?! Do you believe Kenny? What do Mary and Marshall actually think?
