Spouse Swap

"Everyone in the truck in thirty minutes!"

Slinging her Coach cross body purse over her head, Rylee made her way down the stairs. The redhead was extremely excited about the plans the group had for the day, Emily had found a tourist website and found out about a festival that would be going on tonight. Apparently there was one once a month, and they got here just in time to catch one.

It would be an adventure, since they all decided to switch spouses for the night. The idea belonged to Camila, who thought it would be fun to get to know one of her husband's friends. She had agreed wholeheartedly, Camila had chosen her husband Ted, she chose her longtime friend Stephen, leaving Emily to hang out with Randy for the night.

Rylee couldn't wait to get the night started, it had been so long since she had, had one-on-one time with Stephen. He was her first guy friend at college, the whole reason she had met the man who was now her husband. In a way, she had him to thank for her happiness now. Plus, she wanted to know how he had met his wife. The two seemed like polar opposites, she was nothing like the girl she thought he'd end up with. But they were extremely cute together, and they seemed like they were extremely happy together.

By the time she got outside she saw Ted leaned against their rented Chevy truck talking on the phone; donned in an old college shirt, khaki shorts, and black Nike shoes. When she got closer to him, she placed a kiss on his cheek, as he finished up his phone conversation.

"Yeah bro, send the pics over, can't wait to see them."

After he hung up the phone, he placed a full passionate kiss on her lips, "Ooh, strawberry."

Chuckling at the grin on his face, she asked, "Was that Brett? What's he up to?"

"Yeah, he and Jessica just left the doctor's office. He's going to send some pictures of the sonogram they had done today."

She hoped that he didn't pick up on the sadness that came over her, but by the look on his face, she could tell that he did. They'd been together for so long, it would be impossible for them not to know how the other is feeling. They were both extremely happy for Brett and his wife, and they loved their nephew with all of their heart; they just wished that it was their time already.

"Hey, it'll be soon, I promise."

Grabbing her by the waist, he pulled her in for a tight hug. A few stray tears fell down her face as she clung to her husband. When she heard the door to the house, she quickly wiped them away and kissed Ted on the lips once more, before pulling away from him.

"I swear, you two are so cute!"

The expecting mom of the group smiled as she walked past them, she was followed by the other people in the house. They all looked pretty excited to get on with their day. Surprisingly, Emily didn't have her face buried into her Blackberry. She and Stephen were walking arm in arm, the sparkle in their eyes was too much to deny. They were indeed crazy for each other.

Randy was the last to get to the truck. After helping Camila get into the backseat, he slid in beside her. Once everyone was settled in, Ted pulled away from their temporary home and headed back down the road that had brought them there in the first place.

Almost an hour later, the gang had arrived at the festival. There were people roaming around the entire place. Booths were set up on both sides of the street, they seemed to go on for miles. Music played loudly over speakers, the delicious smell of food filled the air.

"Alright, I say we split up and meet back here in… two hours?"

The others nodded in agreement at the Irishman's suggestion. After everyone said their goodbyes to their significant others, they all ventured off with their new partner for the night.

Ted and Camila decided that getting their face painted would be the best way to spend their time together. He had opted for a tribal like tattoo on the left side of his face, the artist was putting the finishing touches on the butterfly that looked like a mask over Camila's eyes. The girl had a constant smile on her face as she talked to the person working on her. It was easy for him to see why Randy had fallen for her, she was absolutely stunning.

When he saw her walking towards him, he got up from his seat, and met her by the payment center. Before the woman could get any money out of her wallet, he had slid a twenty dollar bill over to the cashier, and grabbed Camila by the arm and pulled her away.

Smiling, she looked up at him, "I can pay for myself, you know that, right?"

He laughed, "Not as long as you're with me, you can ask Rylee; I never let her pay for anything we do together."

"Ah, a true southern gentleman? Those are few and far between."

Shrugging he looked down at her, "It's just how I was raised, my dad would kill me if I was anything but a gentleman."

The two walked in silence for a bit, not really sure of where they were going; until they got to a small hut that offered cuisines of many different backgrounds. Ted ushered her in, letting her lead the way to a booth that was in a corner in the back. It took a while for the waitress to get back to them, but once she did, they promptly placed their order and sipped on the drinks she left for them.

Once they were alone, she left Ted's blue eyes on her, before she could speak; he did so first, "So tell me Camila, what's it like to be married to the Randy Orton?"

"You make him sound like some god or something. Why is that?"

"I don't know… it's just, the Randy I remember wasn't exactly a one woman man, you know?" seeing a concerned look on her face, "What is it, Cam?"

Taking a deep breath, she looked at him, "I don't know, it's just…"

The ocean breeze caused a chill to run down his spine. Music played a few yards away from Emily and himself, the two hadn't really said much, but it was a very comfortable silence. She was staring out at the sunset, while he had his eyes locked on her.

She was elegant. Dark hair tied loosely in a bun, a headband to keep the bangs out of her face. She had very pale skin, with just a hint of makeup. As beautiful as a porcelain doll, he could definitely see why Stephen had married her.

"Can I get you two anything else?"

He took his eyes away from Emily, and brought them to their waitress for the night. She was a cute little thing, maybe about fifteen or so. In talking with her earlier, they found out that her parents worked the booth they were eating at.

"Um, I'll take another beer… Emily?"

Taking her mind off of her thoughts, she shrugged, "You know what? I'll have one of those pineapple margaritas you told us about earlier."

Once she walked away, Randy turned his attention back to her, "I thought that you didn't drink?"

"Not very often, I figured why not tonight though."

"Cheers to that, then. Well… when we get our drinks of course."

Laughing at his comment, she leaned back in her chair and stared him down, "So, tell me… how excited are you for this baby? You seem like you'd make an excellent father."

He nodded, "Oh yeah, I can't wait. I've been wanting to be a father since I married Camila… that's something I never wanted, until I met her. She changed everything for me, made me settle down, realize what I really wanted out of life, ya know?"

"Sounds like you two are really meant to be."

Leaning back in his chair, he shrugged, "Yeah, I think so… she's it for me, our life together is all I want. I just wish she could see that more."

"Oh? What do you mean by that? If you don't mind me asking…"

"Nah, it's not a problem… you see, I'm keeping a secret from her; it's nothing major, but it's been causing a lot of tension between us." Sighing he took a look around the place, before bringing his attention back to her, "Since she got pregnant I've been…"

Stephen couldn't remember a time that he had smiled this much. With he and Rylee talking about college days, smiled was all that he seemed to be doing. It felt good to have some alone time with her, it was like they had never been apart. Just like old times.

The duo had decided to come check out some live music. It was something they had enjoyed doing back when they were in school, so this was the perfect opportunity for them to bring back all those cherished memories. With drinks on their table, they listened to the band and talked amongst themselves.

Rylee had been his first friend at school, aside from the guys. She was the person he told everything to, and vise-versa. They were truly the best of friends. With tonight's time together, it was obvious that, that hadn't changed at all; and he was very thankful for that.

When the band went on break, the crowd began to disband to do whatever they wanted until the next set. Sighing, the Irishman took a swig of his beer and leaned closer towards his friend. She was still just as beautiful as she was back then, her green eyes still sparkled, red hair as long as it was back in school. She was absolutely gorgeous.

Moving to the seat right next to her, he swung his arm around her shoulder, "So tell me, how has life been for you?"

She shrugged, "It's been good, I suppose. I love my job, I work with toddlers at a local day care in Palm Beach. Ted is a very successful lawyer, we have a beautiful home a few yards away from the beach; kind of like the place we have here." Flashing one of her brilliant smiles, "I just love it… life has been very good to us."

"Well that's great to hear, you two deserve nothing but the best."

"Thanks Stevie, that really means a lot to me."

He lost her attention for a while, when she looked out to the stage to see the band climbing back onto it. Figuring that he only had a few minutes to say what was on his mind, he cleared his throat and tapped her shoulder, "Do you mind if I ask you something?"

"Of course I don't, what's up?"

Taking a swig of his beer, he turned his attention back to her, "I have to say, when we got here, I was expecting to see a little posse of DiBiase's running around… but there was none. You two haven't said anything about them, so I assume that they aren't at home with the grandparents, so… what gives? Having a family is all you two talked about, even back in school; I would figure that you would have at least one or two running around."

Once he saw tears glistening in her eyes, he reached over and grabbed her hands. "Honey, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have…" before he could finish his thought, she had her arms wrapped tightly around him, her years dampening his t-shirt.

"We've been trying so hard Stephen… we really have…"

a/n: So what did y'all think? I figured that I needed to get the ball rolling on the drama aspect of this story… what these people confess about their relationships should definitely do that! It's going to be fun to see how all of this plays out.
