He shoved some money in his pocket and grabbed a book then headed out of his dorm room. He saw some weird- looking people down the hallway so he started to walk the other way, to the stairs. The doors were pushed open before he got there and gave the small guy a nod. It was 3:54 so he had 6 minutes before he had to be at the café so he hurried up a little bit and knocked into a few people while doing so. Eventually, he stepped inside the café and found Lydia sat at a table in the corner reading a book.
"Looking for Alaska. Great book" He showed up behind her and it took her a little by shock.
"Oh yeah, it's one of my favourites" She smiled and patted the seat next to her. He sat down.
"You've already read it?" He asked
"Well no, but I'm nearly finished and I know it's a good one"
"Ah, well I won't ruin the ending, even though it's kinda shitty. I mean who would do such a thing like that to a perfectly good character?" He bashed his hand on the table sarcastically.
"Ohhh, you mean what happens to Alaska? Yeah I know, I've read that bit. It's the worst!" She hit her hand on the table too and they laughed.
"What you guys laughing about?" Cora sat in front of them on the other side of the table.
"Books" Lydia grinned
"Oh, you haven't changed at all. Still the book worm. I see" They laughed a little.
"Stiles, this is Cora Hale, we went to school together, been through some shit together, we did a lot together, but then she had to go to South America for a while on a - umm - trip. So yeah" She smiled nervously.
"Hi, I'm Stiles" He offered his hand across the table and Cora shook it. Her skin was soft.
"Oh yeah, Cora this is Stiles, my room mate, new friend, and person I met yesterday" She laughed again. She accidentally kicked him and he kicked her back gently.
"Hi" Cora said politely. It was weird seeing Cora being nice to people. Lydia had always seen her as a stubborn type, but she was nice to Stiles. It made Lydia think, maybe Cora likes Stiles, maybe Stiles likes Cora. Or maybe she's just over thinking things and Cora has just become a better person.
"So, where are you from Stiles?" She asked
"Somewhere near Beacon Hills. I actually don't know what it's called. I haven't been there in years. My dad is the Sheriff in Beacon Hills-"
"Woah, you never told me that. Your dad is Sheriff Stilinski? Oh, I should've known because of your last name" She laughed.
"Yeah" He laughed "What about you, Cora? Where are you from?"
"I'm from Beacon Hills as well. Went to South America for my safety" She said, but then realised she messed up.
"I thought you went for a long trip?"
"No, I- uhh. Gangs. It was gangs and they wanted to kill me. So I left" She blurted out, which was no better than being hunted by an alpha pack.
"Oh, I'm sorry"
"It's fine. It was kind of refreshing I guess"
"Umm, Cora. How was South America?" Lydia wanted to take part in the conversation.
"It was great. I went to a small High School and met a few people. I got some good friends and found some people like me. You know, we had the same interests, same personalities" She emphasised on the 'personalities'.
"That's good. Did Derek visit? I'm sure he mentioned you sometimes, but I wasn't sure" She raised her eyebrows.
"Yeah, he only visited like twice a year though"
"Oh, so you were gone a long while?" Stiles asked, he felt a little left out, he didn't know why he agreed to join. He didn't understand anything they talked about and he didn't know what to do.
"Six years" Lydia answered for her.
"Wow, that's a long time" He chuckled a little "I'm gonna go to the toilet, I'll be back in a minute" He smiled and got out of his seat to go walk to the bathrooms. He didn't really know what he was meant to do, so he just decided to let the two friends gossip and chat while he sat in a cubicle for 10 minutes reading a book. Lydia and Cora didn't realise how long he'd been gone, they were too intrigued on each others stories, and Cora had a lot from South America.
"So, you seem close with Stiles?" Cora giggled
"Umm, no. No, he's just my room mate" She stroked her hair and smiled "He's great and all, but I don't know. We literally just met and we don't know that much about each other" She frowned.
"Then get to know him"
"How?"
"Play a game, just ask questions"
"Already did that"
"Well, there you go. What's his favourite food?"
"Pizza, ham and cheese. Because he likes it basic"
"Wow, you do know him"
"I only know his favourite food" She rolled her eyes
"But you remembered, that means you care. Favourite music?"
"Depends on his mood"
"Where does he live?"
"Near Beacon Hills, you know that. He told you"
"How many girlfriends has he had?"
"Two"
"Wrong. Three"
"What? How do you know?"
"You see, Lydia. You may be able to predict death and shit, but I am a psychic and I know that soon enough, he will have three relationships because you are single"
"Shut up"
"No thanks" She grinned, menacingly. Then Stiles walked back and sat down next to Lydia again.
"Hey, Stiles. You were gone a while. Hope you weren't looking for any girlfriends" Cora winked
"What happened when I was gone?" He laughed
"Nothing!" Cora opened her mouth to speak, but Lydia interrupted her quickly "Nothing happened"
"So you just sat here in silence?" He asked, with a smirk.
"Yes" she paused, waiting for an answer "I mean no! We talked about stuff, but nothing really important" She was getting uncomfortable now.
"Oh really? 'Cause I think he would understand perfectly" Cora teased, but then she saw Lydia giving her the death stare. "I'm just joking. Stiles, don't worry about it. We're just messing" She laughed. "anyway, I should probably go now. I got to go meet Malia and Kira"
"What? Why?" Lydia asked
"Well, they don't know who I am, so I'm gonna go introduce myself to them. I've heard lots about them, want to see it for myself, you know?" She giggled "Bye, Lyds. Great seeing you again" She gave her a hug and turned to Stiles. "and it was nice meeting you, Bilinski" She gave him a hand shake.
"It's Stilinski" He corrected as she walked away.
She turned around and waved "I know" She laughed.
"Well" She paused "Wasn't that nice?" She smiled genuinely.
"yeah, she seems nice"
"Well, she's great once you get to know her. Kind of" Lydia laughed.
"Have you got anymore classes now?" He asked, grabbing his things.
"Nope. All done for the day" She grinned, giddily "What do you say we go somewhere?"
"What do you mean?" He chuckled.
"We could drive somewhere- anywhere. Just go. I know it's our first day of college, but it's been kinda crazy, I guess. So, what do you say we go on an adventure?" She paused "We could go to the beach, or a park, or a field. Anywhere. We can go anywhere you like" Except, they couldn't go anywhere they liked. If he said they should go back to the room, it's a no. If he said they should go to the club, it's a no. If he said they should go to a bar or someplace, it's a no. She didn't like the boys who did that, they were trouble. Lydia started rumbling about places they could go, but he just stood there grinning.
"Lydia" He interrupted "You had me at 'adventure'" They smiled together and he took her hand in his and they left the café
"Where are we going?" She asked while they entered the bright blue Jeep.
"Everywhere"
