Song Lyrics that inspired this chapter:

How cold have I become?

It burns for a moment but,

but then it numbs you.

The Grey || Icon For Hire

{{ The entire thing, story thing, is set before The End . }}

Robin was addressing the team, it was a few days after the 'incident' and everything had gone back to normal.

Sorta.

Beast Boy was still giving the same dry jokes, poking fun at every situation.

Cyborg still played video games with BB, always updated, taking care of his systems.

Starfire was the same ball of energy and light she always had been.

Robin was still their fearless, butt kicking leader.

Raven, she was the only conflicting element.

She was colder, everyone could see that. Even Starfire the sweetest of the bunch tried less and less to hang out with the demoness. It was like her heart had been whipped out and crushed*. It was if all emotions had left her, and she couldn't even muster the sarcastic smiles she used to façade - unbreakable. The only thing was, everyday it seemed to be less and less of a façade; it seemed to be more and more of her personality. Nobody could understand what had happened. It was hard to be completely unemotional when you have constantly be with the person who made you this way.

"So team, dealing with this potion hasn't been easy for any of us, and the inactivity of Jinx and the rest of H.I.V.E means we should be on guard." He looked pointedly at Raven, who didn't even flinch at his unrelenting gaze. "Especially us Raven." She only gazed straight ahead, looking straight through him, it was unsettling.

"Yeah." She finally answered, she rose to her feet and began her exit, even though the meeting hadn't been dismissed.

"Dismissed." Robin said quickly, following Raven.

She was making her way to her room, knowing he was following her. "What Robin?" She just wanted to go to her room and meditate.

"Raven, what is your problem?" Robin's voice was controlled and even, even though he was speaking through clenched teeth. She whipped around in his direction. He could see her hair had grown so much darker than it's natural violet color, he couldn't tell if it was going to go red for her anger or black like the space where her heart would be.

"My problem?" She asked with raised eyebrows.

"Yes, your problem. You've been so cold and unemotional recently."

She mustered a hollow, low laugh. "Just because I'm not a pink-haired fire-ball of energy, and rainbows, and happiness, all the freaking time, doesn't mean I don't have emotions."

"Raven, you know I don't expect you to be like that."

"Well then what!?" She snorted. "You're saying you don't expect me to be like that but yet here you are, telling me I'm heartless."

Robin ran a quick hand through his gelled hair. "I never said you were heartless."

"Oh please." Raven rolled her eyes in disbelief. "That's basically all you weren't saying, it's what everybody's thinking and I know it." Robin couldn't meet her eyes on her last statement, telling her she was right. "Did you ever stop to think that maybe I like it this way?" She scoffed and began walking back to her room.

"Raven. Wait!" Robin speed walked after her grabbing her hand.

She yanked her hand away harshly, whirling around to face him. Her eyes were glowing red, anger practically seeping out of pores. With a low, demonic, strangled voice she spoke. "Don't you DARE touch ME, with the SAME hands you CARESS HER with." She engulfed herself in her black energy and was gone.

"Raven, why are you doing this?" Intelligence asked her. Raven was in Nevermore visiting her emotions. "You know it's not right."

"How am I supposed to protect myself from getting hurt?" She asked. Intelligence sighed, pushing up her glasses.

She looked Raven straight in the eyes, searching for some light. "Raven, you know that pain is inevitable. Bottling up your feelings like this isn't healthy. Or safe, and you know that."

"I know that."

"You also know that you don't deserve this, and neither does Robin. It's not his fault." Intelligence reasoned.

Raven sighed. "Yeah, I know. But-" Just then, the Titans alarm sounded and she had leave. "We'll finish this later."

The Titans were in a fierce battle with Dr. Light. Everyone had been pretty much beaten, except for Raven who had been calmly watching, staying close to Robin without interfering in the battle.

Raven began her mantra, signaling the end of the battle. "Azarath Metrion Zint- AH." She hit the ground with a thud. Using her powers she picked up motorcycle, ready to launch it at . Raven was blown away, yet again, by the canon of light. Raven knew Rage was bubbling under the surface, she could feel her powering through. She tried to fight it, but it was too late.

"Don't come any closer." She warned, her voice deep and strong.

"What's the matter?"He teased. "Afraid of the light?"

Suddenly the pain of Robin's distance shot through her and Rage pushed through the surface, her eyes glowing red. She rose again, black long tendrils coming from within her cloak. Dr . Light began to back away, trying leave the scene. They grabbed at his suit, the circuits beginning to shorten out. His pleas and cries of mercy couldn't be heard by Rage, the only sound she could hear was blood beating in her ears. "What's the matter? Afraid of the DARK?" She retorted with her demonic scratchy voice. A sadistic smile crossed her face, she loved this.

It wasn't Robin's voice that stopped her, even though that's what it looked like. It was the small voice in the corner of her angry mind that stopped her.
"Just like Daddy." Her red eyes became violet again and Dr . Light was released.

Raven stood there silently, looking at Dr. Light shaking. Before anyone could speak to her, she was gone.

She paced in her room for what felt like hours.

What is going on?

I'll tell you what's going on. You're getting what you wanted: no emotions.

That's not what I wanted!

It is and even if it's not, it's what you need.

I still have RAGE!

And?

Listen here little girl -

"RAVEN!" The scream had broken through her inner war and she stared at the door. She walked calmly over and opened the door. Robin was standing there, huffing. "We need to talk. Seriously."

"I know, come in." If Robin was surprised by Raven's reply he didn't show it. He stepped cautiously into her room trying to trigger anything. She grabbed her mirror and walked over to him. "But, it would be easier to show you then tell you." She put a small hand on his shoulder and faced the mirror.

"Where are we going?"

"Nevermore."

Before he could say anything else, he was whisked away with Raven.

He rubbed his eyes, trying to asess where he was.

"What is this place? It's so frigid, cold, so-"

"It's my mind." She spoke through gritted teeth.

Robin gulped. "Sorry."

"I brought you here for a reason." Raven looked around at the red streaked sky. "You probably do know my emotions control my powers, which is why I have to keep them balanced. But, recently they've been very out-of-order. It's like which wolf you feed. Whichever emotion I feed the most, controls my powers. But, if I suppress my emotions they become unstable." She led him through her mind, walking like she was following a trail.

"Wild." Robin whispered.

"Yeah."

"So which have you been suppressing?" Robin wondered aloud.

Raven pointed right in front of them. "Her."

Leaning against a tree, with a fuchsia cloak was 'her'. Her hood was down, her violet hair spilling down her shoulders, reaching the small of her back, she held a red apple in one hand. She turned to face them, allowing the cloak to fall to the side, her curvy legs in full view. A small smirk in Robin's direction was her acknowledgement of his presence. "Haven't seen you in a while."

"Yeah, I've been busy." Raven replied.

"Not you." She stood and smiled at Robin. "You."

Robin smiled a little. "We've never met."

"Yeah we have. I saw you almost every night for two weeks."

"Where?"

"In our dreams." She flicked her long hair over shoulder, and gave him a wink.

"Raven," Robin began. "Who is this?"

"My emotions are manifested in to real people, like my mind is manifested into a real place." Raven explained. "Like Rage, Happiness, Timid, and so on."

"And this is . . ." Robin asked again.

"Desire, passion, but mostly-"

"Lust." Her emotion finished for her. She eyed Robin hungrily.

He swallowed hard, trying not to be attracted to her. He tried not imagine her wrapping her long legs around him, he was failing miserably. Robin tried not to imagine weaving his fingers through her hair, pulling her down to suck him off. But he failed at that too. "So when she said she saw me in your dreams she meant . . ." He trailed off, realizing what she meant. A deep blush spread across Raven's face.

"You were wearing a lot less than that in most of them." Lust flirted.

"THANK YOU, Lust. No more information needed." Raven interrupted. "Whenever I try and contain or suppress a prevailing emotion, another one takes over."

"Rage." Robin concluded.

"The potion made her a prevailing emotion, so when trying to suppress her, Rage pushed through." Raven glared at Lust, who was making faces at Robin. She then tightened every muscle in her body, at the sight of him biting his lip. Lust, being one of her emotions, began walking towards Robin, biting her own lip. "Robin stop!"

He released his bottom lip from his teeth and snapped his head in Raven's direction. "What happened?"

"You're turning us on." Lust smirked, looking at the red-faced Raven.

"Really?" Robin asked smugly. "Just by biting my lip?"

"Cocky bastard." Raven muttered, now glaring at Robin.

Robin, in turn, bit his lip again and gestured for her to come to him, sending waves of heat to her core. Lust's eyes darkened at the sight, and she began advancing towards him.

"Stop!"

"She doesn't mean that." Lust interjected, wrapping her arms around Robin's neck. "It's funny, a lot of our dreams include this." Robin was suddenly being pulled away by his cape.

"We're leaving." Raven dragged Robin along behind.

"Are you sure you want that babe?" Raven's steps faltered then stopped altogether. She knew she shouldn't have done it, but she decided to do it anyways, she looked back at Robin and saw him tugging his lower lip in between his teeth for the third time in less than 10 minutes.

Lust overpowered her and she was in Robin's arms before she could kiss him, like she wanted, her body stiffened at the sight of Rage a few yards away.

He supported her by holding her thighs, allowing her to tentatively lock her ankles around his waist. "I see her." Robin whispered in her ear. "You want me to bite your lip instead babe?" Raven's head fell on his shoulder when he called her 'babe'. I guess she has a magic word. "Come here."

What the hell is he talking about? I'm already here. OH HERE. Raven's heart sped up as his hand started grabbing her ass.

"Robin. . ." She ground her hips into his as he started sucking on her neck.

"How do we get out of here?"Robin muttered into her neck.

"Hmm?"

He chuckled lightly at her response. "I'd rather not do this in your mind."

"Portal. . . mmmh . . . there's a portal." Her head lolled back at the thought of what they were going to do outside her mind."In the back. Have to pass her. . ."

Robin slowly began walk, Raven was still in his arms. As he neared Rage, he wondered if he could be killed in her mind.

"Where are you going?" The demonic emoticlone asked.

Lust had overpowered her, Raven spoke, her voice smooth like silk, enticing, laced with seduction. "You won't ruin this for me." Robin dropped his head to suck on her neck, scraping it with his teeth, then soothing it with his tongue."We are leaving." Some driving force lead them to the portal and they were back in Raven's room.

Raven was still in his arms and Robin couldn't bring himself to put her down. Robin unclasped her cloak and dropped it. Raven felt the back of her knees hit her bed and suddenly Robin was on top of her and she wanted more. "Robin, please." Robin ran his hands up and down her sides. She could feel something pressing into her thigh and she smiled.

"Raven, god, you're so hot." He kicked off his boots, and removed his cape. Robin was lying intimately between her legs, he raised a hesitant to the swell of her chest. He lightly squeezed, and then gauged her reaction, when she bit her lip and let her eyes fall shut, he took it as a good sign. He started massaging the two globes, taking note to how firm they are. "Off," He mumbled wanting to feel her all the way."Take it off." She reached behind her back and pulled the zipper, she was an expert at single-handedly pulling it off. She shrugged her arms out of it, letting it fall at her waist. Robin stared at her full breasts, until Raven began to squirm, and he looked back at her worried face. He closed his eyes and groaned, "You're so sexy."

She blushed and rolled her hips onto the bulge in his spandex pants. He took her right nipple in his mouth, sucking and nipping at it until soft moans started falling from her mouth. When he removed his mouth, she arched her chest up against him again, silently begging him to start again. He tugged at her leotard and started dragging it down her legs. Almost everything was bunched around her ankles, her leotard, her tights, her boots, everything except for her panties.

Just as he was about to go for her panties, they were interrupted yet again. "Friend Raven? Please help us find friend Robin, we have joyous news!"

Raven wanted to cry out in frustration. Robin sighed and rolled from between her legs. She reached down and pulled her bra and leotard back on, hating herself for letting it get so far. He pulled on his boots, and fixed his cape back into place.

"Rae," He tried to start.

She held up her hand and shook her head, "Don't." She got up and walked out, Robin following minutes after. They entered the living room where Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Starfire stood.

"Raven! Robin! We have the best of news! Share friend Cyborg!" Starfire could barely contain her excitement at the news.

"What's going on?" Raven was nervous at what could possibly be so important that they would interrupt-

"We think we found an antidote to this curse."

"It's a not a curse." Robin and Raven said in unison.

"Yeah, well whatever it is. After taking body scans, some of your blood, and a few more tests we realized what it is." Cyborg brought up a map of their brains. "See? All of Robin's physical and emotional connections are linked to Raven, and slightly vice versa. So, if all your emotional and physical needs are linked to one person, you become dependent on them for everything. After brainstorming a bit, we came up with two solutions."

"Cut out your brains!" Beast Boy exclaimed.

Cyborg rolled his eyes and continued. "Two solutions. The first one would be to cut off all emotional need for Raven, by falling in love with someone else." Raven was motionless at this, and Robin just stared ahead. "Or, cut off all physical need for Raven by. . ." He trailed off.

"By what?" Robin asked, looking between Raven and the screen.

"By having relations with someone else. When doing this, the need for her to satisfy you, will vanish." Cyborg looked at the two, noting that one seemed crestfallen and the other just empty.

"So I either live with this until Jinx gives us the antidote, fall in love with someone else, or sleep with someone else?"

"Or cut your brain out!" Beast Boy added from the kitchen.

"It's up to you, and well Raven too." Cyborg concluded.

Starfire was smiling at Robin, and flew over to him, her face emanating pure joy. "This is wonderful is it not?!" She gave him a bone crushing hug, and a mega watt smile. "Now we can be together, and nothing will stop us!" Robin didn't want to rain on her parade, but with Raven standing on the side of him, he couldn't do that to her. Starfire could tell something was wrong when he gave her a weak smile. "What is it? Don't you wanna be with me?"

"No, no, I do." He felt Raven tense, then flinch back, like a slap in the face. "It's just. . . "

"An easy decision." Raven finished for him.

He looked back at her and saw her straight faced, and heard the break in her voice on 'easy'. "No, it's not."

"Why not?" Starfire pondered, returning to the floor. "You want to be together right? This will break the curse."

Raven scoffed at this typical melodramatic speech. "It's not a curse." She spat under her breath.

"Of course, I want to be with you but-"

"But what?" Starfire crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head. Raven rolled her eyes, and looked up at the ceiling. "Now we can be together."

"I have to consider Raven's feelings." Robin reasoned.

Starfire was confused. "Raven doesn't have any feelings. Right Raven?" Suddenly all eyes were on her, including Beast Boy and Cyborg's. She racked her brain for words, but came up empty.

"Look, this isn't a simple situation, we have to consider the emotions of all parties involved." Robin explained, trying to save everyone.

"She's right." Raven finally spoke up. "It is simple." She stared at Robin with those painful, hard, amethyst eyes. Her walls were clearly back up, covered in thorns and the broken pieces of her life. "Do you want to end the curse or not?"

It was an ultimatum.

Do you love me or her?

Do you want me or her?

Me or her?

"What's it gonna be?"

"Yeah, what's it gonna be?"

Robin looked at the girls and made his choice.

He took her hands, stared deep into her, and gave a small smile. The inferior watched in broken horror at the sight taking place in front of her. "It's you. It's always been you. I love you." He sealed the deal with a kiss.

She felt a stabbing in pain in her heart, physical pain. Could this literally be her heart breaking? She collapsed onto the floor, in a big heap, unable to stand the insufferable pain.

"Raven!" Robin yelled her name in a panic, releasing Starfire from his grasp.

Seconds later, he collapsed into a similar heap, in the same pain as her.

They both slipped into the same realm of unconsciousness, meeting each other there.
