I DON'T OWN SONIC HEDGEHOG! I OWN RAIN! PLEASE REVIEW AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

RAIN THE HEDGEHOG:

CHAPTER FIVE: TECHNO TEACHER:

Sonic stood on top of the roof of Chris's house, looking out at the sizable lawn. He leapt down off the roof, running off at his 'Sonic Dash', and speeding back a few seconds later. Amy and Rain opened the door, and Rain stretched, yawning. "Hey, Blue. Where'd you go?"

Sonic glared at her. "STOP CALLING ME THAT!" He shrugged. "I just went out." Amy sighed as Sonic walked past her. He's so mysterious!

"Thorndyke residence. Very good, sir." Mr. Tanaka glanced at Chris as he hung up the phone. "Your father has requested that I inform you that he and your mother will be stopping by for a visit this afternoon." Chris grinned. "Wow, Ella, they're coming to see me!"

"What a nice surprise!"

"It's not even my birthday!" Chris bit his lip. "Uh...uh-oh." Mr. Tanaka frowned. "Is there something wrong?"

"No. I'm all done! Can I go now?" Chris stood up from the table, and Ella nodded. "Yes, go ahead." Chris ran off. "See you later!" Ella stared after him, puzzled, then glanced at Mr. Tanaka. "Something is up."

"Hmm..."

Chuck was eating lunch up in the attic with Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Rain. Chris lifted an eyebrow at them. "I've gotta go to school, so I'm counting on you guys to stay out of sight when my parents show up!" Tails nodded. "Got it!" Rain gave him the thumbs-up. "No problem!" Amy grinned. "Yeah, sure! You can count on us!"

"It won't be for long. Mom and Dad's visits have to be short, because they both have busy schedules!" Sonic let out a snort, turning his back on Chris. "Hey, Sonic! Is he mad at me?" Amy laughed. "Don't mind him."

Chuck frowned. "Get going, Chris, or you'll be late for school if you don't hurry up!" Chris yelped, glancing at the clock, and accidentally fell down the stairs in his rush to make his way down the steps. "I'm okay!"

Tails glanced over at Chuck. "Chris sure is happy that his folks are visiting." Chuck nodded. "Mm-hmm, he is." Rain tilted her head curiously. "What do they do?"

"Chris's dad is president of a huge software company. He spends most of his time at the office, or traveling on business." Amy frowned. "And what about his mom?"

"She's a star. A famous actress who jets all around the world making movies." Tails sighed. "I bet it's pretty tough for Chris not having his parents around most of the time."

"Yes."

"He must miss them."

Rain crossed her arms as Amy looked over at her. "So, Rain, what's your story? What about your parents?" Rain scowled, not answering her question.

Eggman growled in frustration, swirling his swivel chair around and around. "I've got to think of something! I've got to think of a way to conquer this planet!" Eggman smirked. "Perhaps the children...maybe one of my robots could brainwash the school-kiddies so that they'd love me and honor me and look up to me as a hero and they could persuade their parents to accept me as their ruler!" One of his robots came forwards, holding his deck of cards. "Here are your choices."

"Let's see. Hmm...this is a tough one! I'll let the machine decide! Perfect! Intelligente!"

Chris stared in confusion at the mathematical equation on the board. "That doesn't even make sense!"

"I don't even know where to start!"

"I'm totally lost!" Chris glanced over at Mr. Stewart, who had nodded off. "Should we wake him up?"

"No, don't! Then he'll put us to sleep!" Intelligente opened the door with a slam. "My, my, what a intelligent-looking class!" Chris and the other students just stared at the robot. "Huh?"

"Oh, perhaps I've arrived during nap-time!" Mr. Stewart awoke with a start, blinking at Intelligente. "I'm sorry, but what are you-"

"I'll give you three guesses, young man!"

"You're a robot?"

Intelligente glared at him. "A robot teacher! Good-bye! I'm taking over!"

"You are?"

"I am!"

"How's that?" Intelligente grabbed Mr. Stewart by the scruff of his collar, lifting him out of his seat, and throwing him into the hallway. "They're replacing me with a robot, huh? Wait'll I give that principal a piece of my mind!"

The principal took a large sip of his hot tea. "Delicious." Just then, Mr. Stewart burst into his office, fists clenched, causing the principal spill his tea all over himself. "How dare you!" Mr. Stewart cringed when he saw the tea spilled all over the principal.

"I'm glad to know you never hired that robot. My students will be relieved, too." Mr. Stewart heard laughing coming from inside the classroom, and peeked inside. "And that's how you crack an equation! Mathematics is a breeze when you keep your eye on the 'pi'!" Chris grinned. "Now it's starting to make sense!" One of the girls nodded. "It's easy!" Another boy gave the thumbs-up. "All right!"

"Yeah!" The principal grinned at this. "That robot is a great teacher!" Mr. Stewart stared at him, stunned. "Sit in on his class and study his technique!" Mr. Stewart groaned. "But, sir!" His eye twitched as he watched Intelligente through the window. "Thank you, class! It's an honor to teach you!" He crossed his arms. "There's something fishy here! I'd better check this out with Headquarters!" He smirked, heading for the bathroom. "Come in, this is Truck-Four-Charlie calling Homeroom on a priority alert!"

"Let me get this straight. You want us to send out our land, sea, and air forces because a robot kicked you out of your classroom?"

"Roger. I'll transmit my coordinates!" The people at Headquarters starting laughing their heads off. "Wait'll Control hears this!" Mr. Stewart narrowed his eyes. "Seems like we're having technical difficulties! I'll have to go to the police!"

"So, you were assaulted by a robot who took over your class, and now is holding all your students prisoner? Stay right there, I'll be over in a jiff to investigate!"

Mr. Stewart tapped his arm impatiently, scowling with frustration. "Where is that cop? He's late!" The police car pulled up, and Mr. Stewart narrowed his eyes. "Well, finally! Hurry, hurry, hurry! Come on, officer, the kids are danger! Let's move it! Just remember, the robot's dangerous!" Mr. Stewart gasped as he opened the door to the classroom. "That mechanical menace kidnapped the kids!"

"I've always wanted to play baseball! Shall we?" The kids cheered Intelligente on. "Well, what are we waiting for? Play ball!" Mr. Stewart pointed Intelligente out to the cop. "Right there! You knock it down, and I'll attempt to disable its power supply! There's no time to lose!"

"Remember to keep your wrist relaxed all through the pitch, like so!" The cop shrugged, munching on his burger. "Doesn't seem like those kids are in danger to me. In fact, it looks like they're having a great time! I wish I was out there playing." Mr. Stewart narrowed his eyes, snatching the cop's burger away. "Stop pigging out and arrest him!"

"Hey!" The cop raised his baton. "I'm nailing you for burger burglary!" Mr. Stewart yelped, running away. "Drop that sandwich, scumbag!"

Eggman frowned, staring at the screen. "I wonder if Intelligente has successfully brainwashed those brats into admiring me yet! I'd better look and see how it's going!" His eyes widened. "What's this!?"

"I'm ready!" Intelligente called to Chris.

"Put it over the plate!" Intelligente scored a home-run, and cheered himself on. "My first home-run! How thrilling!"

"Intelligente sure is a hit with his students. They love him." Eggman crossed his arms. "He's supposed to make those kids love me, not himself!"

Chris's parent's plane arrived at the Thorndyke residence, and they got off the plane. "Welcome home." Chuck grinned as he came over to them. "Lizzie. Nelson. Good to see you again."

"Hello, Dad."

"Hello, Father! How's everything going here at home?"

"Wonderfully well, now that the two of you are here!" Chris's dad glanced around. "When does Chris get back from school?"

Tails, Amy, and Rain watched Chris's parents go into the house with Chuck. "Chris's dad seems like a nice guy!" Amy nodded. "His mom is really pretty! Don't ya think so, Sonic?" Sonic just shrugged.

"Wow, nice shot!" Intelligente leapt into the air, catching the ball. "That's the greatest catch ever!"

"Whoa! He's cool!"

"Well, well, well! Seems the old retro-thrusters aren't as rusty as I thought! Reminds me of my early days on the cricket field when I was no bigger than a laptop!"

"Message for you! Master Eggman has a message for you!" Intelligente tilted his head in confusion. "A message?"

"How'd you like to visit the junkyard!?"

"Do you mean he's miffed at me?"

"Sure, the Doc's angry at you! The kids are supposed to get stuck on him, not you, bucket-brain!"

"That used to be my mission!"

"Huh?"

"I'm afraid all that's changed!"

"Huh? How come?" Intelligente crossed his arms. "I was sent here to make these students admire Dr. Eggman, but I found it far more rewarding to be admired myself!"

"What!? You blow a circuit or something!? You know Dr. Eggman'll turn you into scrap metal, you barrel of bolts!" One of the girls frowned, walking over to Intelligente. "Mr. Intelligente, what's going on?"

"Dr. Eggman may do with me as he wishes, but I refuse to abandon the students in my charge!"

"You're the greatest teacher I know! I wish all teachers were as great as you are!" Chris nodded. "Me too!"

"Same here!"

"Oh, thank you! That's so wonderful!" The mail-robot scowled, crossing his arms. "Stop crying and get those kids to admire Dr. Eggman! Now I'm crying!"

Eggman frowned. "That crybaby! They should like me!"

"I'll see you all tomorrow, class!" Intelligente called out to the students. "See ya!" Chris grinned at the other students. "I've gotta hurry home now, guys."

"Yeah, how come?"

"'Cause my mom and dad are coming home for a visit! See ya!" Chris gasped as Eggman suddenly appeared on the baseball field. "Intelligente!" Intelligente gasped. "Oh, my hard drive, it's you!"

"I bet you think you're smart for disobeying my orders, you traitor! But I'll get you!" Intelligente winced. "No, please don't take this out on me!" Intelligente sped towards the students. "Help me get away!"

"Huh? But what about what you said a few minutes ago, when you swore you'd never abandon us, no matter what Eggman threatened to do to you?!"

Intelligente tilted his head. "I really said that?"

"You did!"

"We all heard it!"

"I suppose there's no way around it, then. What was I thinking?" Eggman laughed, and Chris frowned over at him. "What's so funny?"

"You don't really believe that snivelling circuit-box plans to keep his promise! I'm ordering him to keep you in detention, where you'll be forced to respect me!"

"No way!"

"What a snake!"

Eggman clenched his fist. "You listen, robot, unless you want to end up in a scrap heap, you'll follow my orders!" Intelligente saluted Eggman. "Yes, sir!"

Chris crossed his arms. "I'm not staying! I've gotta go home!" Intelligente seized Chris by the back of his shirt. "Not so fast! You'll stay in detention with the rest until Dr. Eggman dismisses you!"

Sonic stared up at the sky, and Amy, Tails, and Rain watched Chris's parents through a window. Chris's dad frowned. "I wonder what's keeping Chris." Chuck nodded. "He knows you two are here to see him." Chris's mom bit her lip. "What if there's been an accident?"

"I'm sure my security people would find out and contact me." She nodded, albeit reluctantly. "You're right. He's probably playing with his friends and simply hasn't noticed the time."

Ella frowned. "I wonder what's keeping Chris? Dinner's almost ready." Mr. Tanaka narrowed his eyes. "Perhaps I should go and look for him."

"You know the Thorndykes don't want Chris babied or treated differently from other children. I'm sure he's fine!"

Chris's dad scowled, standing up. "I'm going to look for the boy!" Lizzie sighed. "Nelson, have some faith in your son."

"Huh? Oh, yes, right. He's a level-headed-boy, and I'm sure there's a good reason why he's late." He clenched his fists, starting to yell. "We have to stay calm!" Chuck shook his head. He hasn't changed since he was a boy.

Amy sighed worriedly. "I'm getting worried now, too." Amy, Tails, and Rain glanced up at Sonic. "Hey, Sonic! Can you go look?" They blinked as a blue flash of light sped past them.

"For today's art class, we will sketch the illustrious figure of Dr. Eggman! As you draw, take note of the Doctor's noble visage, and dignified baring!"

"This pose inspire you? How about something more dynamic?" Chris cringed. "Ugh...it doesn't matter how Eggman stands, he'll always look terrible." Sonic sped past them just then, knocking the sketchbooks out of their hands. "Hey, what was that?"

Eggman grinned. "Perhaps a pose like a champion!" Intelligente glared at him. "You mean a chump! You're so busy showing off, you haven't noticed we're under attack!" Sonic smirked down at Eggman. "I always knew you were a poser, Eggman!"

Eggman gasped. "Intelligente!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Get rid of Sonic!" The other students frowned. "Who's Sonic?" Chris gasped as Intelligente saluted Eggman. "Yes, sir! Whatever you say!" Intelligente sent missiles flying at Sonic, who leapt out of the way just in time, plowing into Intelligente, taking him out.

"Wow!"

"He's tough!" Eggman scowled at Sonic. "Here, Sonic, your prize!" Sonic frowned at him. "What prize!?"

"A little reward for your victory!" Sonic crossed his arms. "I don't want a booby prize!" Eggman turned to Chris, intending to give the prize to him. "I don't it!"

"Yuck!"

"Who'd want that?!"

"Nasty!" Eggman tutted. "All right, I'll wear it myself! Bye!" He leapt back into his astro-car, and the students frowned. "He's a weirdo."

"Yeah. He could keep me after school for a million years, and I still wouldn't admire him!" Sonic sighed. "You'd better hurry home, Chris. Your parents are waiting!" Chris's eyes widened. "Yeah, that's right!" He raced off, with Sonic speeding after him.

"He's so cool!"

"He sure is!"

Mr. Stewart frowned, munching on the cop's burger. "You know, maybe there's more to being a teacher than passing out homework and taking naps in class." The cop snuck up behind him, eyes narrowed. "Enjoying my burger?"

"Um..."

"Get back here! Stop chewing, you thief!"

"Hey, Mom and Dad, I'm home!" Chris's parents grinned, racing towards him. "It's Chris!"

"I was so worried!"

"I told your mother you could look after yourself, but she wouldn't listen!" Chuck laughed to himself quietly as Chris grinned. "Sorry, I got held up at school."

Chris's dad grinned over at him. "Of course, I know there was absolutely nothing to worry about! You know, when I was your age, I was kept after school a few times myself!" Nelson laughed, and Lizzie shook her head. "Oh, I'm sure Chris is better behaved than you were." Chuck smirked. "That's for sure! Actually, Chris, your father was more worried about your absence then he lets on. Wasn't he, Mr. Tanaka?"

Mr. Tanaka nodded. "Well, Mr. Thorndyke was concerned enough to phone the president." Ella laughed. "And Mrs. Thorndyke called the TV networks to get the bulletins on news." Lizzie gasped. "I didn't call all of them!"

Rain giggled, watching the Thorndykes from the window outside the dining room. "The Thorndykes seem like a real nice family, don't they, Amy?" Amy and Tails nodded. "I'm glad Chris made it back home in time."

"Uh-huh. It always feels good to get back home."
