I looked at everything as we walked around the new amusement park, hand in hand. "Oh my gosh, Kacchan, look at that!" He looked towards the direction I was pointing. "What is it? what are you pointing at?" My excitement got the better of me before he could get an answer out of me, I ran off. "Oi! where are you going?!"
I ran toward the object of my excitement. Leaving Kacchan in my dust. I heard him yell at me faintly, "Dammit Deku, slow down!" But there was nothing that could stop me now. Before I knew it I was at my destination, eyes full of wonder. "This is what you were freaking out about?" Kacchan asked, confused.
"Just look at it Kacchan. It's so cool!" He shook his head as he handed an amusement park worker five dollars. "You're such a nerd." The worker handed him three orange plastic balls. "Do you know the rules of the game?" He asked, languidly. Kacchan scoffed at the worker's question. "What a stupid question. Who doesn't know the rules of this game." Before I could scold him for being so rude Kacchan threw a ball at the target, hitting it dead in the center. "OH YEAH! Bullseye!"
The worker rolled his eyes and asked which prize Kacchan wanted. He shrugged and looked at me. "Which one did you want?" Frantically I pointed to the giant All Might plushie. "Right," said Kacchan, "Should have known." The unenthusiastic worker handed the prize to me he wished us a 'good day,' dully.
As we continued to meander around the park aimlessly, my mind kept going back to earlier that day, as we left the hospital. 'What was Kacchan lying about?' I hugged my new favorite All Might plushie tightly to my chest. 'Why would he even lie to me? I hope he's not in any trouble.'
"What are you looking at dumbass?" Startled out of my train of thought, I shook my head. "N-nothing, I was just thinking." His eyes narrowed like he could read my mind. "About what?" My hands went up in defense. "Nothing, nothing. It's not important." Before he could argue any further, I grabbed his hand and began to pull him towards one of the lines for a roller coaster. "This one looks fun," I said nervously. He took his piercing eyes off me and looked at the sweeping track of the coaster. "Are you sure you can handle this one? Didn't you say that you throw up on roller coasters with too many turns?"
'Damn,' I scolded myself internally. 'I didn't look at the ride. I just went to the nearest one.' I put on a brave face. "Y-yeah, I did say that, but with you here, I'll be fine." He looked at me, skepticism written all over his face. "Okay. If you say so."
Five Agonizing Minutes Later*
'This was a terrible idea.' Barely able to walk, I stumbled out of the exit for the ride. 'At least I didn't... Oh no!' Before I could stop it, my lunch decided to jump out of my stomach. Kacchan knelt behind me, rubbing my back. "I had a feeling this would happen." When I grunted in response he laughed. I glared at him. "What, it's your own fault. You're the one who got into that line." I wiped the bile from my mouth. "I know, I know, it's just..." Before I could finish I threw up again.
Kacchan reached down and pulled me to my feet. "C'mon, let's go get you some water." I let him pull me along, not complaining. 'At least he cares... a little." He walked me over to the nearest bench. "I'll be right back with some water, don't go anywhere."
After a few minutes passed I noticed that Kacchan still hadn't returned. 'What's taking him so long?' I looked around in the crowd, not seeing any sign of him. The next thing I knew there was a hand wrapped around the back of my neck. I froze.
"Act natural... We're just old friends. Act as such. And don't even think about making a racket, you hear me?" The grip tightened, making it hard for me to breath. "I just wanna have us a little chat. That's it, all right?" My heart began to beat wildly as the man sat next to me. "And what happens if you show the slightest odd behavior, you ask? Simple, the moment all five of my fingers touch your neck, you'll start crumbling, from the skin of your throat on down... And, within a minute, you'll be nothing but dust."
I swallowed hard. "I-if you do, then a hero... A hero, f-from the crowd... Will come capture you...!"
The man chuckled in his gravelly voice. "Of course, but have a look! Even though any one of them could brandish their quirks like a weapon at any moment, why do they gather? Why do they laugh? The laws, the rules, they're all based on peoples individual morals. So at heart, they think, 'Oh, there's no way anybody would do such a thing'." Out of the corner of my eye, I could see him smirk. "Y'know, I could skill twenty... No, maybe thirty people before getting captured..."
I stiffened. 'I should just do whatever he wants. I can't let anyone gets hurt because of me.' "What do you want to talk about...?"
"HAHAHA, that's the spirit."
As we sat there I tried to figure out who he was. 'I remember seeing this quirk before, but where... Oh! The attack at the training center! What was his name?... Shi-shigaraki!'
"To tell the truth, I hate mostly everything, but the number one thing that's pissing me off right now is the Hero Killer." I furrowed my eyebrows. "But isn't he with you guys...?"
"I never agreed to him joining, but he's one of us according to society. And that's the problem. Near everybody seems to be gaga over the Hero Killer. The Yuuei invasion and the Noumus we released on Hosu... All of it's been swallowed up by that bastards fame. Why is nobody looking at ME?!"
'Wow... Narcissistic much.'
"No matter how much he puffed himself up, in the end, he was just destroying what he didn't like, same as me. Between the two of us, what do you think is the difference? Midoriya."
"What's the difference between you two...?" I thought for a minute. "I neither understand you... Nor except you... Whereas, for the Hero Killer... I don't accept him either... But I do understand him... For both me and the Hero Killer... We started out... By watching All Might. And, back then I was saved by him... At the very least, he didn't destroy because he wanted to. And he didn't give up so fickly. His methods were wrong, but he tried to live according to an ideal... That's what I think."
"Ahh... My head feels clearer now, like a bunch of dots finally formed a line. I feel like I get it now... Why the Hero Killer pisses me off, and why you're so annoying! It's all about All Might. Of course... Of course, it'd all lead back to him in the end. Ahh, what was I so bothered over...? The reason all these people are spending their days laughing with shit-eating grins is that All Might is too! It's because of him, they're always grinning, lime there was never anybody he couldn't save!!"
He began to squeeze my neck even tighter. "Ahh, I'm so glad we were able to chat. This is great! Thank you, Midoriya!"
"Deku?!" I looked up to see Kacchan standing before me. "Let go of him, you bastard!" Kacchan took a step towards us, small explosions coming from his palms. "IT'S NOTHING! I'M FINE! SO DON'T COME ANY CLOSER..."
To my surprise, Shigaraki let go. "Oh, so he had company?? My bad, my bad!" Shigaraki stood up and walked a few feet away. "Right then, see ya. And you do know what'll happen if you try giving chase, don't you?" I was still trying to catch my breath as he went to leave.
"Wait... Shigaraki...!! What is All For One's ultimate goal?" Kacchan looked at me, surprised. "Huh? Did you say... 'Shigaraki'..."
Shigaraki shrugged. "Dunno. Whatever. But you should focus on taking care of yourself. Because the next time we meet, it'll be because I decided to kill you." And with that, Shigaraki walked slowly into the crowd, disappearing.
"Deku! Are you all right?" Kacchan rushed towards me as I continued to cough. "That bastard, I'll kill him!" Kacchan turned to go after Shigaraki, but I grabbed his hand. "Please... Don't... Just stay with me... Please." His eyes softened as he took a deep breath. "All right, I'll stay. C'mon lets get you home."
