Okay, I tried to do first person but every time I tried it always felt like I'm using too many 'I' and 'My''s. It may be because I've never been too good with feelings other than depressing ones. I'm the high school girl who has no friends or people to talk to.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fanfic | Destiny | Witch – Part 1
Reanna stood in the middle of the library; her hands on her hips – two fluffy red and yellowy gold things hiding her hands on either side of her body. She wore a white long-sleeve shirt with a short red school girl looking skirt around the lower part of her body – her hair was tried in a braid that fell down the side of her left shoulder.
Giles paced the floor, his fingers grinding against the skin of his forehead – an agitated and annoyed feeling starting to linger through his veins as his Slayer stood near him wearing that atrocity of a uniform. "This is madness." He stated the obvious after thinking through everything the blonde had told him about her plan. "What could you have been thinking?"
The blonde simply frowned, gazing down at the cheerleading uniform she wore, "What's wrong with it?" Not understanding what was so mad about her choice in clothing, the uniform she'll be wearing during her cheerleading audition.
He ignored her clothing question, continuing his rant, "You are The Slayer! Lives depend on you – I make allowances for your youth but I expect more than a certain amount of responsibility in return."
"Do you –" He continued, trying to figure out the right thing to say, "-Do you just listen to the simple things you already know I say and ignore the rest?" He questioned, noticing that she did do that exact thing a lot. "Is it some kind of rule you've made up?"
Reanna shook her head, that didn't really make sense but the way Giles was fussing over the situation, she couldn't help but be amused by it – sure, a couple of times she'd made the effort NOT to listen but what was the point in listening if it were to do with something she wouldn't even need in the future, "I have a rule to make sure I do well enough in school to stop my dad from ragging on me 24/7." She told him, shrugging her shoulders like it was nothing. She was only trying out to be on the cheerleading squad, it was something she's been wanting to try out since the Slayer powers kicked in, "I repeat; I'm trying out for a place on Sunnydale High's cheerleading Squad." Jumping in front of him; making a side V shape with her arms and pom poms, shaking the bundles of colours about in her hands.
Giles nodded, getting that part clearly after hearing about it at least three times in the last couple of months since he's been her watcher, "You have a sacred birthright, Reanna." He told the younger girl in a way someone would talk to their child, "You have been chosen to destroy vampires; not to wave pom-poms at people." Waving his own arms in the direction towards the pom-poms as a gesture.
He suddenly straightened up, shifting the tie around his neck as he turned, "And – as your Watcher … I forbid it." He shifted uncomfortably, realising how silly that sounded towards 'The Vampire Slayer'.
Reanna's lips quirked, it lifted in amusement, "And, how do you think you're going to stop me?" Already knowing he wouldn't be able to. She folded her arms against her chest, tilting her head towards the man – actually interested in what his answer would be.
Giles turned, looking stumped, "W-Well, I-I," He stuttered, realising that he really couldn't stop her doing something when she had The Slayer strength and skill. He cleared his throat, mirroring her stance as he, himself crossed his arms, "By appealing to that common sense I know you have buried deep inside. But then, I may need to get your brother on my side to find it."
Reanna sighed exasperated by the conversation now, rolling her eyes as she moved forwards, "I will still have the time to fight the forces of evil." She told him, "But, right now – I just want a chance to try out for something I've waited literally a YEAR for." She hoped the Slayer-ness would be a great advantage to her, knowing that cheerleading needed a lot of balance and skill in the art of gymnastics.
~ 1 ~
Reanna, Xander, Willow and David waltzed into the school gymnasium slowly together; everywhere around the room - more than twenty girls around their ages were warming up for the upcoming event that'll be starting in less than five minutes.
"So, what did Giles actually say about this particular event?" David wondered, his eyes gazing towards all the bendy, athletic girls in small skirts. His head tilted to the side, seeing a pretty brunette doing a handstand, the skirt around her waist slipping down just a touch as gravity intervened. A click of fingers across his face snapped him out of the state, he blinked, regaining his dignity quickly before he lost what he had left. He noticed to the side his sister giving him a glare, he frowned apologetically, "Oops, sorry." Realising his sister noticed him in his teenage boy state (which isn't surprising mind you).
Reanna scoffed rolling her eyes while the two best friends next to her struggled not to look amused; Xander though was on the same train of thought as David – there were some pretty girls in this hall, the blonde in front of him in the cheerleading outfit was outdoing them all – not that he'd say it out loud of course. "Doesn't matter," She waved it off, "You're a guy – anyway…" Getting back to her brother's question, "When I told him; he tried appealing to the common sense I have."
"So, that's a 'No way in Hell'?" Willow pitched in, getting what the blonde female was saying. She and Reanna had become closer over the last couple of months she's been in town – it must be nearly 3-4 months ago since she first arrive; month ago from when they all found out about the supernatural world, excluding Reanna of course.
"Yeah." Reanna grinned, remembering the look Giles had on his face – it was pretty amusing to get under the guy's skin at times but she did love the concern he gave when he told her to be careful before she went on patrol every night. It really did make her feel like she had a second father; someone to look up to if her actual father was too busy with work – which is pretty much all the time lately come to think of it.
"It's weird though when you think about Giles and the nightly patrols," She continued, remembering the vampire-less nights, "It's been like, 8 days since a vampire's been in the vicinity – I'm sure they haven't vanished but maybe their finally getting the notice that I'm in town – ready to stake them all if need be."
David shrugged, glancing to his sister, "Maybe the guy should just get a girlfriend?" He suggested, he had been with Reanna twice on those patrols {no matter how hard she tried to stop him, she just couldn't}, over the last couple of months it had gotten to him that Reanna really could take care of herself out there – he didn't have much experience in the way of fighting yet so it was a good conclusion to say it wasn't best for him to go out with her very often but he did want to make sure she was safe at all possible times.
Reanna didn't look so sure about the idea, "I don't think so," She shook her head, the braid in her hair flinging over her other shoulder and back again as she did so, "I think the guy just needs to get his head out of the old musty books and get a social life – then, he'll probably be ready for an actual girlfriend."
"Well, Xander and I are behind you all the way." Willow exclaimed, patting her blonde female friend on the shoulder. In return, the blonde in question gave her a look of gratitude.
Xander's eyes drifted over the entire female student body, much like David had done only a moment ago, "Look at these girls giving it their all like this." He noticed a girl doing a handstand, her skirt slipping but not too bad, the situation was practically identical to the one David found himself in. "Now that's what I call 'School Spirit'." He murmured, he deeply knew that neither of these athletic girls could come close to Reanna though.
David let out a chuckle when he saw Xander's head still turned to a girl with long brunette hair, "Xander," He knocked the guy out of his daydream, "You should quit looking at the girls like a piece of meat before they lash out at you like tigresses."
Xander blinked out of his gaze much like David had before, glancing between Willow and David as Reanna strode past, and rolling her eyes at the typical boy behaviour she has to deal with every day at home. Sometimes it sucked being the only girl in the household. "Huh? Where was I?"
Willow just looked plain amused, "You were pretending that scantily-clad girls in revealing postures were a spiritual experience."
Xander looked to her innocently, "What do you mean, 'pretending'?" The girls shook their heads with little chuckles. "Oh!" He exclaimed, getting them to look back at him. He reached into his shirt pocket, grabbing something that looked to be some kind of chain.
"What have you got there?" David inquired, frowning at what Xander was getting out of his pocket with such a weird grin on his face.
"Yeah," Reanna tilted her head in curiosity, "What is it?"
Xander lifted the piece of jewellery up a little, letting the blare of the gym lights shine from it. "It's just something for good-luck, you know, for tryouts." He waved off what it was really for, but he still wanted Reanna to wear it.
"What's that?" Willow was also curious, feeling a little surprised that Xander had gotten Reanna something. A little hurt was creeping up again because Xander had been hung up on the blonde ever since she moved to Sunnydale, but something inside her just knew that Reanna and Xander are never meant to be and she was okay with that.
Reanna gave him a small smile, grateful but also a little touched inside that a boy outside her family was being so thoughtful to her. She already knew that Xander would be a long-time friend, she couldn't see herself being with Xander romantically unless some kind of witchy spell had intervened if that was even possible. She held out her hand, feeling the bracelet fall into her palm as Xander carefully put it in her care. "That's so sweet, Xander."
David lifted an eyebrow, catching two words carved into the flat base of the silver plating, "'Yours, always.'?"
Xander swallowed nervously, "They all came like that, really! They all said that." He tried to lie, but David knew all too well before the boy could even speak. Reanna on the other hand bought it, she went with the answer and never questioned it.
Before another word could get out, a huff sounded from beside the girls – Cordelia stood there in her sports bikini top and shorts, her hands on her hips in an agitated posture. "Just look at that Amber." Looking at the brunette with enviousness, the girl David had been ogling earlier. Amber grabbed her right leg and stretched it out fully, letting it reach above her head so that her body was doing an air split. "Who does she think she is? A Laker girl?" Cordelia had obviously completely forgotten that neither of the four Scooby's liked her, and that neither of them can barely tolerate her.
Willow nodded, "I heard she turned them down." Feeling the need to say something, this was the nicest Cordelia had been to her in years, even though technically the brunette wasn't even talking to her. Maybe nearly getting killed by that vampire was a good thing for the prissy spoilt brat?
"Okay! Listen up!" A voice shouted, the vocals filling the room just enough so that everyone could hear. One of the seniors were speaking, her hair was long and brown and her vibe just screamed 'Top Cheerleader'. "Let's begin with," She looked down at the clipboard in her arms, her eyes rolling down the page to pick a name to start the tryouts off, "Amber Grove."
"If you're not auditioning, move off the floor."
Willow gazed around the room as everyone started to pile up against the bleachers, "Amy!" She spotted a girl with chestnut hair, she wore the typical cheerleader's uniform for Sunnydale High. "Hi!"
Amy let out a small smile, seeing Willow as well, "Hi." She waved back, strolling over to her old ginger friend. One whom she hadn't seen in a long while.
Willow's shoulders slumped, feeling like she missed something because obviously she did, "I didn't know you wanted to be a cheerleader." She took a step back, looking Amy up and down carefully, "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight." She couldn't help but feel a little surprised that Amy had decided to follow in her mother's footsteps. The subject had never come up as a potential hobby and future.
Amy nodded with a small unsure smile, "Had to." She went to stand between the ginger and blonde females.
Willow gestured to Reanna who stood patiently with her hands tied together behind her back, "Do you know Reanna?" She wondered. To the side she noticed David and Xander moving up the bleachers, trying to find a seat for all of them to sit together.
Amy shook her head before turning to the new blonde with a tentative smile, not entirely sure of the new girl yet, "Hi." She was about to say something but the blares of the dance music Amber had chosen started coming on. They each turned to the girl, beginning to watch the show, Amber letting go and showing off her moves to prove she if the best choice to be on the next Cheerleading Squad. Willow silently left to sit next to the boys, knowing that she would not be participating in the cheerleading tryouts. She and the boys were only there to support Reanna in getting a place on the team.
Amber began doing so many moves, her body doing a bunch of different twirls and spirals - all different ways for the next. Then the flips and specialised jumps came. 'It's lucky that I have these Slayer abilities, otherwise I would have been toast', Reanna thought to herself. "She trained with Benson." Amy's voice cut the blonde out of her staring.
Reanna frowned, her eyebrows crinkling in confusion. "Who's that?" Turning to Amy, practically ignoring the cheerleader giving it her all now.
Amy explained, "He's one of the best coaches money can buy."
"There's cheerleading coaches?" Isn't that a bit stupid and so not worth the effort?
Amy gave a look of surprise, obviously getting the gist that Reanna knew nothing about them, "Oh, yeah!" She nodded, silently wondering if the blonde would actually be any good at cheerleading. She hoped herself would be enough, even after all the hours she trained with her mother for this particular event. "Do you not have one?"
Reanna shook her head, not liking the idea of having a cheerleading coach to begin with. Giles was enough for training, even if it was only for slaying.
"I train with my mom." Amy stated, each of them glancing back to Amber whose movements grew faster and more rehearsed. "Three hours in the morning and three at night."
Reanna's eyes suddenly grew sad, "Sometimes I wish I had that," Nodding to the girl next to her, "Having a mom who'd spend so much time with me."
Amy grew understanding, "Divorced?"
Reanna blinked away a few tears that tried to come out, "No," She shook her head, actually wishing it were a divorce rather than a death, "She died when I was little. Cancer."
"I'm sorry." The chestnut girl apologised, feeling sorry for even starting the conversation about her own mother's antics with cheerleading.
The blonde waved it off, feeling a little better, "It's fine, it happened a long time ago."
Both of them became quiet again, going back to Amber's performance who now held pom poms in her hands – doing signs with her arms like cheerleaders would do during a game. Slowly, something that looked to be smoke started to pour away from Amber's hands, coming out thicker the more she moved.
"What the …?" Reanna's brow creased in confusion, eyeing the smoke warily as if trying to get a sense of it and nothing but foreboding streamed into her veins.
Willow began to notice it as well, she couldn't help but shout, "That girl's on fire!" She called out, trying to get everyone in the room to notice the smoke as well.
Besides Reanna and Amy, Cordelia rolled her eyes as her back stayed turned from Amber, not wanting to be influenced by such a show off. "Enough with the hyperbole!" She huffed, putting her hands to her hips again – already not liking the competition she had to work with this year.
The smoke began to thicken even more and screams filled the room as Amber finished her last move – throwing both her hands towards the ground, the pom poms shaking once but instantly bursting into flames. A high pitched screech left Amber's throat, horror and pain coming out in waves and her eyes widened at her burning palms.
Reanna's eyes widened at the sight, her instincts reacting immediately by twisting around from where she stood – pushing past all the bodies around her and ripping down the school logo sheet from the ceiling, above the bleachers. She grabbed it tightly, rushing towards Amber who helplessly waved her arms about, trying and failing to put out the flames herself. By this time Cordelia and every other student in the gym started looking on both shocked and terrified; mostly for how this had occurred, their minds kept telling them that this was some kind of trick – but the howls that left Amber's mouth were enough to bounce them back to reality.
Reanna collided with Amber, throwing the girl to the ground as she quickly wrapped the burning hands around the material – trying to cut off the oxygen the flames were feeding on. Continuing to pat down in a fast manner, the flames were dimming quickly – the simultaneous flaming hands were out within seconds. Reanna's body was hovered over Ambers, the brunette face full of distress and tears, she sobbed as her vision never left her hands. They hurt so much, the pain was practically blinding. The blonde finally wrapped the blanket around the injured girl, holding her close as if trying to help the pain – as if trying to give Amber the strength to hold on, to let her know that help will be on its way as soon as possible. "You're going to be okay." She kept telling her, trying to sooth the sobbing teenager. "It's okay. You're going to be okay."
Reanna sighed, relieved the fire had been averted quicker than it would have been if it wasn't for her – and if it wasn't for her? Amber would have been burnt to a crisp. She looked up; seeing Xander, Willow and her brother looking at the situation wide-eyed and a little rattled. "Ah, man." She murmured quietly to herself, "This is new … but not something I could call exciting right now."
~ 1 ~
In the library; Xander, Willow and David were all sat at the dining room looking table – Giles was in his enclosed book area and Reanna continued to pace up and down, her brows forming a tone of confusion. This was definitely something she hadn't witnessed OR experienced yet. Something else to add to the glorious life of 'The Vampire Slayer'.
"I've been slaying vampires and demons for more than a year now – but I've never seen anything like that – her hands literally busted into flames."
Giles revealed himself from his gated, locked cabinet room holding an old musty book as usual. "I imagine not." He nodded, not looking up just then.
David frowned, "What could have done it though?" He asked no one in particular. "It doesn't sound like something a vampire's capable of, was it a demon?" Ever since he had begun more involved in his sisters secret life, Reanna had been teaching him things here and there – mostly just the basics and the need to know stuff; basically for a 'just in case' measure for when she isn't around.
Giles looked over to him, tilting his head slightly in thought, "It could be; there are many demons in the world but something doesn't quite fit in that area." He was glad that his Slayer's brother was starting to learn about Reanna's duty more thoroughly – he knew the boy wasn't completely okay with it but it was nice to see the two siblings working together. When he first met the two in the same room, there was a tension between them – an estrangement … a rift.
Reanna let out a small grin but still looked a little wary at the same time, "When you think about it; something new does sound a little cool – right?" Glancing between everyone in the room; her mind now moving past the gruesomeness of what happened back in the gym.
Giles nodded, looking a little pleased while his head finally retreated from the large book in his hands, "Quite." He agreed, "Spontaneous human combustion is rare and scientifically unexplainable." Reanna hopped onto the table, sitting at the edge while her legs dangled over the side. David was on the left side while Xander and Willow sat on the opposite. All of them listened to Giles as he spoke, "There have been cases for hundreds of years." He raised an eyebrow in wonder, "Usually all that's left is a pile of ashes."
Willow gulped, "That's what Amber would have turned into if it hadn't been for Rea." She glanced to Reanna as she spoke, she was happy that the blonde had been there. It hadn't been too long since they lost Jesse; and even though they never knew Amber very well or even spoke to her at all, she was still a part of the school and student body.
Xander frowned, looking between Reanna and Giles who knew more about vampires and demons than they'll ever know, "So, what your saying is – 'We have no idea what this could be and what caused this fireball of an event'?" He huffed, "That's such comfort." His tone completely sarcastic as he leant back in his chair.
"But that's the thrill of living on the Hellmouth." Giles stated, an excited gleam shimmering in his eyes, a dreamy smile forming on his lips. He bent down to sit against a chair leg by the upper level of the library, but only keeping a metre away from the kids so they could still hear what he had to say. "There's a veritable cornucopia of fiends, devils and ghouls to engage." He looked up from his monologue, seeing all four teenagers staring at him with eyebrows raised – probably not feeling the exact same way as him. He blinked, looking a little disappointed at the current reactions, "Pardon me for finding the glass half full."
Reanna backtracked herself to what Giles had said before – about the topic on spontaneous combustion. The idea itself sounded plausible but something inside her told her this wasn't what they were looking for. "Is there anything similar to what happened to Amber?" She questioned Giles, "Do you really think she could have spontaneously combusted … just like that."
David shook his head, his running through his hair, "It doesn't really sound right to me." Obviously sensing the same thing his sister did – they were more alike than they thought.
"Well,-" Giles began, getting up from the side of the chair – going through his brain encyclopedia for what can cause such an event. "-rage is the most common piece of the puzzle. From previous records, the person that combusted had been terribly angry, or well, upset."
Willow looked puzzle, "I don't think Amber was either upset or angry though – at least not majorly."
Xander came up with an idea, "Maybe Amber's got this power to make herself be on fire." He looked around to see everyone looking at him sceptically, "It's like the human torch, only it hurts." He shrugged, no one else had thought of a better idea that could fit – yet.
Reanna stood up, letting out a breathe as she realised what needed to be done next, "I'll need to look into Amber's life then; check out to see if she's had any similar experiences before."
"Oooh!" David grinned, looking to Willow as he spoke, "That's means we have a job Willow. Hacking into the school's computer system." She looked terribly happy about it as well; something neither or them should be excited about since hacking into a protected system was a crime you can be imprisoned for.
Xander shrugged, "I can ask around about Amber – I know some people who can tell me a lot of things about her." Getting up from his seat the same time as Willow and David did, swinging his backpack over his shoulder as all of them got ready to leave on their jobs.
Reanna looked a little desperate, "Guys, please don't get involved – not this time." She pleaded. This was something new; something she hadn't faced before today – meaning if something went wrong, one of them could be severely hurt and it would be all her fault. David had said when all this first began; that he didn't want to go home to dad and tell him that she was dead – but not just dead; murdered. Well, it goes the same way – she wasn't going to go home one day and tell their father his oldest child is dead. It's not his time – he has a full life ahead of him – but for herself, she honestly wasn't sure anymore on what her future outlook was going to be.
Xander frowned, "What do you mean?" Looking to her with confusion, "We're a team." He paused, seeing confliction in the blonde's face, "Aren't we a team?"
"Yeah." Willow nodded, looking back at the boys, "You're the Slayer, and we're, like, the Slayerettes."
David shrugged, looking to the two beside him, "You can't budge their decision, sis." He told her, knowing that this would be hard on her. He could see it in her eyes, she didn't want either of them hurt – but everyone makes their own decision. She may be the Slayer, but everyone was their own free person, she can't make anyone else's decisions for them. "And you know I won't back down either."
"I just…" She started, looking between them and sighing, "…I don't want any of you in danger; we have no idea what this is right now and none of you are really trained to handle much in the way of combat. It's going to be dangerous."
"Ha!" Xander belted out, getting everyone to turn to him, "I laugh in the face of danger…" He paused, not looking completely sure of himself now, "…Then I hide until it goes away."
Reanna shook her head, giving in again for what seemed like the hundredth time, "Fine but, just go slowly." She instructed, hoping they'll listen to her. "Don't attract any attention and just, don't do anything drastic until we know exactly what we're dealing with."
The blonde looked up to Giles this time, "What if Amber isn't causing this herself? Would it be a demon causing this?" She asked him, not sure where the information will really lead next.
Giles looked up, turning to them as he put away a book on the shelf, "Well, then we have to determine who or what did. It may be a demon, but then it could be something completely different. After that's all been figured out, we'll deal with it accordingly."
The warning bell that signalled lunch was over rung, all the students automatically looking up at the speaker embedded in the wall as he sound blared out in waves. They sighed simultaneously, not looking forward to sitting through afternoon classes when they could be saving people's lives from the unknown.
~ 1 ~
Later that evening, Reanna got up from her desk. Since she had come home after school her schedule included; homework, homework and more homework – Oh, and don't forget a midnight slaying session to finish the night off.
The blonde padded down the stairs, feeling the need for a gallon of water to pour down her throat. Today hadn't gone very good; there wasn't anything interesting in Amber's life to suggest she had torched her own hands. Meaning the incident had to have occurred from something else – and that something didn't settle her inner fear of someone near her getting hurt. That was her one big fear to do with slaying – not that she'll be hurt herself, but it would be if her brother, father, Willow, Giles and Xander got hurt. She felt the bond between them binding together; it was like the Scooby circle was meant to be and it felt nice. She didn't have to hide, she didn't have to keep secrets and most of all – she could be herself (to a degree because of her father not being able to know).
Reanna turned the left corner, entering the kitchen to notice her father sitting up at the counter, writing something down in a small black journal – a dozen or more single sheeted printed papers laying across the counter. Looking closer to her father's face, he looked stressed – his hand reached up to scratch his head, his features molding into a thinking form. She frowned, "Dad?" Worried her father was pushing himself a little too hard, so far she had been able to make sure that being in every class was a priority. All the little adventures were an after school thing unless it was something important (unfortunately, there were a couple incidents of class missing – both for herself and David much to her dismay) "You alright?"
Mike's head shot up, startled – obviously not hearing her come in. He turned towards the hallway, seeing his daughter slowly walk in – looking undoubtedly concerned. It wasn't often that he was like this – stressing over work this much. "Reanna." He blinked, looking over at the clock seeing it was past 6pm. He raised a shocked eyebrow, "Is it time for dinner already?!" He asked himself, time really had flown by hadn't it?
Reanna walked over to the cupboards, still paying attention to her father. "I can make it if you want." She offered, even though her version of dinner would be a bowl of salad that won't magically explode.
Her father rubbed his eyes tiredly with a snort, "I don't think I want the house burnt down, sweetheart." Shaking his head, looking up to see his daughter smiling a little at the quip.
Reanna rolled her eyes in a mock hurt manner, "Fine then." Grabbing a glass from the upper cupboard next to the window, holding it under the sink before turning on the tap – letting the glass fill up nearly all the way. "Be like that then." She glanced back at the papers lying on the counter, she pointed to them as she clicked the tap off and turned back round. "So what have you got here then?" She wondered.
Mike looked back down at the papers, letting out a breath of tiredness. "Just something for the Gallery – as am Assistant Manager of the Gallery, I get the privilege to make sure all the paperwork and everything it accurate and complete. This is the gallery's first major show, meaning it has to be the best of the best."
His daughter cringed, making a face that clearly said 'sucks to be you'.
Suddenly Reanna's father frowned, tilting his head towards her in confusion and wonder, "Didn't you have something going on at school today?" He inquired, swearing that he could remember his daughter saying something about a club audition at one point or another. "Something about a club?"
Reanna looked a little stunned her father remembered that, she had told him a while back during his weekly show – his TV shows are something you don't want to mess with (he's very serious about his TV shows) "Yeah," She nodded, taking another chug from the glass in her hand – hoping onto the counter attached to the kitchen window – sitting face to face to her father, even if he was still at the island counter huddled around his awful paperwork. "Cheerleading."
Mike raised an eyebrow, "Cheerleading?" Wondering if he heard that right, she had never been into many athletic things before – why now? "When did this happen?"
"For a while." She responded vaguely. She couldn't exactly say 'ever since I gained Slayer powers – meaning I have more energy to power a small wind farm than a normal person' could she? "It's just something to keep me busy."
Her father nodded back, thinking this was a good idea. "Good. It'll keep you out of trouble." His head turned back to the paperwork in front of him, beginning to read some of the fine print again.
The blonde frowned, her shoulders slumping a little at the comment – obviously feeling a little hurt by that remark. "I'm trying; isn't that good enough. I'm not in trouble am I?"
He shook his head, the attention swaying between two things – his daughter's spoken words and the written words on the paper. "No, not yet."
Reanna pursed her lips, feeling like a sledge hammer had been thrown at her, "Wow," She mused, "I'm really feeling the love." Her tone sarcastic but loud enough for her father to hear.
Mike sighed, looking back up – now knowing that his words were probably a bit harsh, she really had been trying from what he could see. Everything in her school life was better than it used to be back in LA. She really was trying to live up to her promise she made from day 1 at that new school. "What I mean is; you used to do a lot of things that kept you out of trouble – before the original trouble started. I'm just happy you're getting back into the swing of things, even if it is new clubs like cheerleading or even a soccer club if your school has one."
Reanna couldn't disagree with that reasoning – before all the trouble started, she HAD given up on quite a lot of things that kept her busy. "I can understand that." She glanced towards the hallway before looking back at her father, "I'll leave you to your work – we can have pizza or something later if you want – I'm sure David would love to pay." She hopped off the counter with a laugh, quickly filling up her glass to the brim again before leaving the room with one last smile to her father – content with waiting a couple more hours for food.
Wow, it's been so long since I've updated. School finished for me on Tuesday and now I have a lot of free time on my hands when I'm not at work or at the gym. I'm trying to get back into writing after having such a long break. So, let me know what you think of this chapter and hopefully the next one will come very shortly.
