A/N: Hey my beautiful readers, I hope you enjoy this chappie, a lot going on in this one and Kono may or may not be on her way home, and the guys may or may not be flying to Japan. Just to let you guys know the only reason Kono can't reach a phone is because she's in a village and most of the time a phone is miles away and/or there is no phones in the actual village itself, and sometimes small villages like this one in Japan don't allow phones or any technology in these villages so yeah.
So I'll be updating a lot more this time, I'm on summer vacation so I'm so sorry for the long wait I really wanna end this story because I have another really good one for you guys. So possibly after I finish this one I'll be starting that one the same day.
Enjoy

"Chin. Danny. I seen Joe today-" Steve was interrupted by Danny's hint of surprise voice
"Joe's back?" He replied in question.
Chin wondering the same thing in silence on his side of the receiver.
"Yea, and he uhh...he brought some news back with him." His voice awkwardly cracking, as he cleared his throat. Scratched the back of his neck, silence settled for about five seconds before Chin started to speak.
"Well, what's the new bruh. We ain't got all day Kahuana." Chin chuckled, as Danny laughed along with him. If only they knew...
"Chin, Danny, Kono...she's alive." As silence filled the air, the tension started to get thicker. Nether Danny nor Chin saying a word, only the breathing could be heard on both lines. Danny was the first to speak.
"She's what?" He repeated dumbfounded, he obviously remembered a casket being buried underground.
"Kono is alive, and she's in Japan.
Present Day
Five-0 Headquarters
7:57 p.m.
The silence in the room was deafening, you could hear a pen drop and the echo after. Steve almost started to think they had hung up until the shifting on the other side began.
Danny was the first to speak.
"She's...what?" For the first time in a long time Danny didn't know what to say or how to say it. They spent months mourning over the lost of their rookie, only to find out she's...alive?
Steve sighed and ran a tired hand down his face, as he sat back against his leather brown office chair. So many thoughts ran through his mind, about her, him...them. The flashbacks of her in his bed, her running away. He didn't really know what he was going to do when he saw her again. He's always been fucked up, but never as fucked up as he is now...maybe he should consider that therapist Danny is always going on about.
"Yea, Kono's alive Danno. She's in Japan." The same silence overcame the room and no one spoke a word. Chin hasn't spoken since Steve had first told him about Kono being alive and in Japan. He could only imagine the thoughts and feelings of this man, seeing his little cousin being buried in a casket, mourning over her, only to hear couple months later she's alive, maybe well, and in Japan.
He was wondering if Chin had left the conversation. There was nothing, not a thing on his side. Steve heard shuffling on the other side of the receiver, he couldn't pinpoint who it was but the voice that came after told him who it came from.
"How long did Joe know?" Steve almost had trouble hearing him, his voice sounded so different than a couple minutes ago when Steve had called him. The pain in his voice was evident, Steve couldn't help but cringe as he knew what Chin was feeling when Joe told him.
"He knew 3 days after it happened apparently." He was starting to get upset, Joe out of all people knew how this affected him and his team. Why hadn't he told him sooner. Steve was always curious about what Joe did when he would disappear for weeks, and months at a time...but to hide something like this from him for so long. Letting them go through this pain and suffering for so long with any hesitation on his part. It made Steve question if Joe had anything to do with Kono's situation, or theirs for that matter.
Steve knew Joe and Wo Fat had some history...but was it deep enough to betray his best friends son, and the son Steve knew Joe considered him? He couldn't..or rather didn't have time to find any answers to these questions before Danny started to interact with three again.
"So, what's the plan?" Danny's voice echoed with determination, Steve was slightly taken back. He had of course thought of getting Kono back here. But something wanted to tell him or tell them to let Kono find her way back here. Kono always proved to be one step ahead than they even thought she was. He had frowned at the thought of people misjudging her for her young age and inexperienced work in the field.
People didn't know that Kono knew more than they would ever think she would know. Hell, she knew somethings Steve just didn't even care to know or think about. Not saying that he's stupid of some sort. Because Steve McGarrett knew many things, but who knew Kono Kalakaua could recite the entire Naval Hymn without breaking a sweat.
Steve fought with himself here. Should he go to Japan find her, and bring her home. Or should he let her find her way back. Her and Steve had history, and it ended in a way that left him hurt and used in a way.
Kono is strong.
She can hold her own.
She is intelligent by all means.
She can kickass if need be.
But, she does act implusively at times.
And, she is alone.
He sighed, and rubbed his building scruff around his face. He could only imagine what's going through her head right now. So he made his final decision on what he should do. He knew he was right, and no matter how the outcome turns out. She would be home, and they would need to talk about somethings when everything settled down.
"Get your stuff ready, and get down to HQ. We'll be leaving in 5 hours." They instantly agreed and said their horrible excuses for goodbyes, before going their separate ways. Steve sat in his leather chair, conflicted about this whole ordeal. He honestly didn't know what to feel or what to do. Yeah, as soon as they bring her back. He's definitely gonna take up Danny's offer for that therapist.

She let out a quiet groan as the old man next to her snored loudly on her shoulder. She would wake him up and tell him to lay back in his seat, but she really couldn't care less. He was tired, and we all have our bad days. So she slowly tried to straighten out without waking the old timer, hearing the retired bones in her back silently crack at being motionless for what she guess was about 10 hours. Leaving what she thought about 3 hours until she reached Honolulu's International Airport.
She took a sip at the ginger ale the perky flight attendant offered her for the second time since the flight took off. Kono put the Styrofoam cup back on the tray and stared out the window. It was night out, but she could see the stars obviously closer than they would be when she's on the ground quite beautiful. She looked down on the city and ocean she wasn't sure they were passing. Maybe it was Paris or England she quizzingly guessed. The bright collective lights reflected off the wing of the plane giving the surrounding feet of clouds around them an almost bright but faint tinge of color.
Laying her head on the side of the small plane window, Kono closed her eyes and said a short prayer of thanks to Mr. Fukushima and his family. She had no idea he even cared enough, or had the money to give her to go back home. The money he had given her was just enough to get a one-way ticket to Hawaii, and she also had money she earned saved up to get some clothes to change into and food to eat.
Closing her eyes with a smile on her face, the lingering thoughts of seeing her team again in a couple hours. Excited her but unnervingly scared her at the same time. Who knew how they were gonna act when they seen her again. Who they be happy? Sad?
Would they pass out from the obvious fact that she isn't six feet under, and that she's alive, physically well, and still breathing.
The questions buzzing in her mind, made her small smile turn to a frown as she opened her eyes looking down at her phone to see what time it is.
11:55 p.m.
It read, she sighed at the fact that she's been in here for almost a day. Running her fingers through her thick brown hair, she jumped a little as the old man she had forgotten about moved closer on her shoulder, making his snoring impossibly loud in her ear. Kono blow a small tired breath and closed her eyes leaning against the window again, she thought 'only got two hours left'. She let the thoughts and worries slip away for now and fell into a quiet sleep awaiting the arrival to the airport.

"Danny, we're taking your car. And by taking I mean I'm driving." Grabbing the keys off the Smart Table, Steve said already halfway out the door with his medium sized dufflebag on his shoulder.
"Why do we always have to take my car! Your truck is well enough handled to go to the airport Steven." Chin chuckled and slapped a hand on his teammates shoulder, following in suit with Steve who was already in the new black Camaro. Danny had gotten after his old one was blown up by those assholes.
"Why would I use my truck, if I have a faster way to get to Kono right here Danno." Steve started the engine, and raced down the street towards the Honolulu Airport. Danny didn't say anything, but humphed and grumbled a low "Steven" leaving both Chin and Steve to laugh lightly at their blonde teammates misfortune.
There was silence in the car, as all three members were left to their thoughts. Each thinking of different aspects, different pains, and different new comings of the apparent return of their rookie. She's alive. She's ok. The same thought ran through their heads. They really didn't know or understand what was happening. But they were happy, grateful and blessed to know that Kono is ok and she is alive. Now they have to find her.
"I can't believe she's alive." Chin's hand rubbed the smooth of his neck, as they rounded another corner. Seeing the command tower not far from where they are. Danny nodded, he couldn't believe it either. He knew he saw a casket going into the ground but never did he think Kono would even die on their terms. She was always so strong, always did everything so implusively. Wanting to get things done, but the right way. Making sure no one got hurt in the process, but willing to risk her life so easily.
Just like Steve. They were one and the same, but completely different at the same time.
He took a glance at their leader, Danny knew Steve all to well. The complete silence from him. The way his eyebrows furrowed together, and the thin line his lips made. His infamous constipated face. Sighing he wished none of this happened, they all did, and as they finally arrived at the airport. None of them really knew what they were going to done when they saw her again.
Present Day
Honolulu International Airport
1:12 a.m.
It's been two hours since she's gotten back, since she didn't have her car, and it is one in the morning. It's was hard for her to try and find a ride to her house. Sighing she decided to grab something from the 24/7 food court that would fill her empty stomach.
Steve, Danny, and Chin, spend about 30 minutes going through security, and were waiting for the governor's private plane for them to get here. Danny started complaining about how there shouldn't just be some random guard ready to in his words "feel you down" when going through security. Steve rolled his eyes at his partners choice of words.
"Danno, you of all people should understand why that has to happen." Steve raised an eyebrow, while putting his dufflebag over his shoulder and walking towards the food court that they saw was open everyday and all day.
"I know Steven, but you have to agree that doing that everyday all day to people you don't know is a bit unnerving. I would find it a little disturbing, that I have to touch a man's balls every time they come through security." Danny rambled on as Steve and Chin laughed freely at their partners rant.
Kono sat down in a quiet space by a burger joint which didn't have many occupants but her, a man she figured was on business from his attire, and a family of three stopping to get a bite before they left to their flight. She ordered a chicken sandwich with a mango shake, and a side of fries, after getting up and changing in the bathroom. Refreshing herself as much as she could with the few bathroom refreshments and clothes she had bought. Pulling her shirt up, she looked at the healing bullet hole that tore through her that night.
God, it was so good to be back. She just wanted to go home and figure out what she was gonna do later. Going back to her food, she ate and tried to think of something or someone who would be able to drive her home. She heard a couple of men's voices the she knew from what it sounded like enter the food court. One she could make out talking about security and balls, and the other two she thought, were laughing at what the man was saying. She shrugged and continued to eat her food.
They looked around at the slightly crowded area. Steve remembered a burger place he had came to when he would be hungry and needed something quick to eat at.
"Hey, you want to try this burger place?" Steve said looking over at the two, receiving a nod from both of them. Walking up to the place, he scanned around seeing the neon letters that spelled JJ's Burger's in varies amount of colors and two men working behind the counter. He casually looked around the surprising nearly empty space, other than the family and business man he had seen. He continued to look around, but abruptly stopped as his eyes landed on...her.
Kono automatically looked up at the footsteps that were coming in her direction, and gasped as she had seen the men she heard earlier. It was them. It was her team. She looked over at Steve as his eyes trained on her, never moving. The two of them having a staring contest, as Chin and Danny turned around to see what was wrong with Steve as he was obviously stopped by something that grabbed his shocking attention. They to had turned to see what he was looking at and gasped.
"Rookie."
"Cuz."
She felt water on her cheeks, as she ran and hugged Chin and Danny. She cried, and didn't care if people were looking at her like she was crazy, or if they would talk about her later. She missed her team. She missed her boys. She smiled into their chests and pulled away, looking behind them Steve was still there looking at the reunited members of his team. She told Chin and Danny that she would be right back, they glanced at Steve and nodded in understanding. Walking towards the counter, they started ordering their food.
With one last glance, she turned and looked at Steve. Listing her options, she walked up to him and looked into his eyes and his looked down at hers. His mouth opening but closing as what he was going to say just got lost in the jumbled emotions and thoughts that traveled through his mind.
"Hi Boss." Kono's voice softly whispered, cracking slightly as more tears slipped down her cheeks. She didn't think as she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him, taking in his scent. He gasped slightly as his arms automatically went around her waist.
"I missed you." She said against his shoulder, he finally had gotten control of his thoughts enough to speak.
"I missed you too Kono." His husky voice cracked with unseeing tears, he pleaded would not fall. He pulled back and before he could think any clearer. He had kissed her, and a small moan elicited from her throat. Which brought him back to reality, and as he pulled away the thoughts of him and her floated in his mind. Then of her leaving him, telling him they would never happen, and his soft smile soon turned to a frown and then a blank face. Letting her go, he walked towards Danny and Chin who had be eating and intently looking at her and Steve.
She looked at his retreating back and felt the numbing sadness in her bones. He didn't want her. He didn't care that she was back. He didn't miss her.
He didn't love her anymore, and she deserved it. She thought as she walked back to the table sitting by Chin while Steve and Danny sat across from her. Chin and Danny talked to her the whole time, as they wanted to know what it was like. What she had to go through, and what had happened that night. Steve didn't say anything, he didn't even glance in her direction. He didn't say a word to her as they left the food court.
He didn't say a word to her as they drove from the airport.
He didn't say a word to her as he dropped Chin and Danny off at their cars.
And he didn't say a word to her as he dropped her off at her house.
And Kono couldn't help as the tears spilled down her face, as the only thought crossed her mind. He hated her.
A/N: Hey guys, glad you made it to the bottom. So what do you think of this chapter, crazy. Our favorite rookie is back and in Hawaii. Steve kissed her, and went instantly mute after. What do you think is going on in his head. We will find out in the next chapter. This is honestly the longest chapter I've ever written. I hope you guys like and I'll see you soon.
