A Fairy's Broken Wings
CHAPTER 7
Helping out a friend.

(Lucy Heartfilia)
The night lingered, freezing and quiet, while Lucy and Natsu spoke in her apartment. She could see the way he glanced at her from time to time. When they spoke, she could tell that he held his tongue back from uttering more; when she wouldn't flinch by his rather odd doings. Natsu Dragneel had the face of someone who didn't speak their mind, and that annoyed Lucy. Especially because Natsu isn't known for holding his tongue. Happy seemed to notice the awkwardness, but he wouldn't say anything. Maybe, now, out of all times, the cat might have caught his own tongue.
It had been two fat, bloody, lonely, days that Lucy wanted (Needed) to see Laxus. To feel his hands on her, his lips feverishly kissing her, his sweet touch, his hugs from behind… Lucy was going mad without Laxus, and even though Natsu was near, there, in front of her, she could feel her heart beating for someone else.
And yet.
"Hey Luce?" he got close, after seeing Happy fall asleep. A cracking smell coming of him; a mixture of salt, sweat, and smoke. It wasn't unpleasant per se, but Lucy certainly found herself more fond of Laxus's smell; mint, bark, and sweat. She saw him, cornering her, close to the window nonetheless. His eyes fixated on her own as if he were to seize his pray after slaughtering. "It's been so long… I've missed you."
That's all her heart needed. Her reflexes jerked her forward, catching Natsu's breath, her lips on his. She hoped he would pull back, because she found her own body betraying her at that moment. His hands slid on to her lower back, pulling her in, incrementing the force and passion of the kiss. She could tell that he wasn't inexperienced. A picture of him and Lissana appeared in her mind, nearly clouding her lust. Or was it love? After all, she knew Natsu far longer than she ever knew Laxus. She felt his body falling on hers, leaning her back on to her own, soft covers to her bed.
For a moment, she saw Laxus, but then he disappeared from her thoughts, almost as if she were being hexed by herself. She stopped kissing Natsu, not necessarily pushing him off, but she simply glanced at the ceiling, letting guilt wash over her body. There was no marital status amongst her and Laxus, right? So she wasn't doing anything wrong, technically.
"Did I do something wrong?" asked Natsu, pouting, his eyes deep and onyx. Not orange and fluorescent, said a voice in her head. She shook the voice away. And focused on the redundant question. He left her, leaving a simple letter, and now he was back, snogging her like an old toy. Maybe, just maybe, he didn't think it that way, but that's how she felt after being abandoned and then, now, nearly entering second base with a man, who, probably she stopped loving. But no, Natsu. Technically you did nothing wrong. Why was she becoming such a bitch? Wasn't it obvious?
"No, Natsu," she uttered finally after a while, his eyes came back to life. "It's just that…" she felt her eyes watering, however, mostly out of guilt. "I never thought that you like me this way…" If she would have known, then she would have never given Laxus a chance? Now, who's the most undisputable bitch in the continent? "I thought you and Lissana—"
"No," he broke her off, looking out into the window as if she were trying to not remember something, "Lissana and I were trying for a while, but afterward, we both got bored because there wasn't anything. I think." He sat up, looking at happy. "She was always mentioning you and comparing herself to you, and well, that made me kind of mad." She saw him avert his eyes from hers as if he were trying to run away from what came next. "But in the end, she was… uh —" she could tell that he was broken inside; in fact, he sounded just like her when she practically begged Laxus to slad her. " —she confessed to me that thanks to me, she was out of the closet and… she and Ca-cana went out right after we broke up."
A bubbled laugh nearly escaped he lips, but she rammed her mouth shut. His confession wasn't necessarily funny. Natsu went out with a Lesbian (and practically ended up torn by the fact), but the realization of her stupidity made her want to laugh. All this time, if Lucy was confident enough, she could have had Natsu a while back. Then again, she would never have the chance to be with Laxus.
"I want to forget her," he said in a embarrassed tone as if he were ashamed. Well, Lucy would be, too, if Laxus turned up to be with one of the guys in the thunderbolt legion. Her skin shuddered at the thought. "I can't get her out of my head."
Lucy pulled Natsu, kissed him, felt him and got on top of him. They separated, she glanced at him, guilt overwhelming her, but she knew, in her heart, what Natsu needed. She also knew that Laxus—if she would ever see him again—will ultimately smell flames on her—Only if! She had actual sex with Natsu. She cleared her voice, and said, with a seductive tone, just like Laxus did, "I'll help you Natsu, from a friend to friend." Only she hoped that she and Laxus were to become more than simple Friends.
She noticed him purse his lips in shame, but then let himself be touched and caressed. He nodded slowly, and even though he tried to hide it, she could tell that he was enjoying it.
.~O~O~O~.
He was there, standing in front of her, her bones quaking on the inside, her rears wanting to be hammered on to his. She wanted his touch, but she could feel the overwhelming guilt pushing her to speak, loudly and full of emotion. Whatever happens, she would think, I deserved it.
"What's the matter, blondie?" asked the man who made her heart skip a beat. Laxus.
In a matter of seconds, she told him what she'd done with Natsu. Emploring that he'd listen to the end, she saw him strike away in an immediate bold of lightning. They were nothing! And yet… she wanted everything! She was standing right outside her apartment, her eyes wide, no tear, her breath barely audible or visible, the tips of her fingers were trembling, and for the first time, she knew how Natsu felt when he left her. Like dragon shit.
"I'm sorry," she already suspected that Natsu heard. In fact, she hoped he listened. "I didn't mean for you and Laxus to break up—"
"He never once asked me out…" she barked, walking inside, wanting to hug Natsu, but the guilt pushed her back. "So, we were nothing. But still…"
"It hurts," Natsu spoke, low, his voice raspy.
The two were a complete wreck of people. They both have hurt people they've cared about, so they had no pain to feel whatsoever. Only the overwhelming guilt to feel. Lucy had no right to blame Natsu. She kissed him first. What a fucking whore, she told herself.
And yet.
"I want to rebuild Fairy Tail," uttered Lucy, her lips curving into a smile, "what do you say, Natsu?"
"We're seriously friends, again?" he asked, almost unbelievable.
"We never stopped being friends, Natsu."
However, Lucy had one more task to do before she went on another adventure with Natsu. It was more a want, rather than a task, but still received the title of "requirement" in her own mind, at least. She needed to cure Laxus.
Why?
Because she loved him.
Yes, she finally, bitterly and full-heartedly, admitted it.
Lucy Heartfilia loved Laxus Dreyar.
