Lunchtime rolled around and Pencil ran up to Fire, who was sitting at a table.
"Fire! We've gotta warn everyone!" Pencil shouted.
"What?" Fire asked, confused.
"Well, I would've told you earlier, but I didn't have any classes with anyone I knew!" Pencil said, "Anyway, come on! I needa tell everyone at once!"
A red alligator and a blue raptor were sitting on a table nearby. They were about to kiss when suddenly, Pencil ran up to them. Fire walked up behind her.
"Allie! Wet! Listen up! Where are the others?" Pencil shouted anxiously.
"Uh..." the alligator, who was named Alemara, trailed off.
"You mean Headache and Tamalex?" asked the raptor, Wet.
"Yeah, them and Axel!" Pencil said.
"Well, I don't know about Axel, but Headache and Tamalex are in the middle of the cafeteria, fighting." Wet, said, snickering.
"PLEASE don't tell me they attracted a crowd..." Fire muttered, sweatdropping.
"Why? That'd be cool! Then I could be like 'hey, I know them!' and then I'd be famous too!" Pencil said.
"Uh, Pencil? You had to tell everyone something?" Fire reminded her.
"She did?" Alemara asked.
"Oh yeah!" Pencil remembered, "Come on, guys! Follow me!"
They followed Pencil as she ran towards the middle of the cafeteria, where a large crowd of students were watching two arguing reptiles, finding it amusing and entertaining.
"VEGETARIANS ARE WEIRD!" the blue crocodile yelled at the top of her lungs.
"NO THEY'RE NOT!" screamed a green stegosaurus.
"Tamalex, you gotta respect other people's opinions!" the stegosaurus yelled slightly more quietly.
"Yes, and MY opinion is that vegetarians are WEIRD!" Tamalex, the croc, yelled back, "You're not respecting MY opinion, Headache!"
Headache, the stegosaurus, covered his ears.
"Ow..Tamalex, you're giving me a headache, listen, can we please let this go...?" Headache asked more timidly, still covering his ears.
"What, and let you win!?" Tamalex shouted, "Remembering that I'm a carnivore! I could easily eat you if I wanted to!"
Headache felt suddenly shy.
'Girls get scarier as the get older...' Headache thought to himself, blushing.
"I can tell something's troubling you." Tamalex said sternly.
"No! Nothing is troubling me!" Headache shouted back.
"YES! SOMETHING IS! NOW, SPILL!"
"THERE'S NOTHING! I JUST WANT YOU TO ACCEPT THAT SOME PEOPLE HATE MEAT!"
"IS THAT ALL?!"
"YES!"
"FINE I ACCEPT IT! ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?"
"NO!" Headache shouted, "Uh...I mean yes...?"
"NO! YOU'RE NOT! TELL ME!"
"TELL YOU WHAT?"
"WHAT DO YOU WANT!?"
"I WANT YOU TO GO TO THE DANCE WITH ME!" Headache shouted. Then he covered his mouth, realising what he had said, and blushed a deep shade of red.
Headache ran off, still blushing.
Tamalex stared after him. Her cheeks were dark pink.
"Uh...hey, Tam?" Alemara slowly walked up to her.
Tamalex saw her and the others and slowly approached them.
"Hi Allie. Hi Pen. Hi Fire and Wet." she said with a blank expression.
"What's up?" Alemara asked, pretending she didn't see what happened.
"Yeah, and where is Headache going?" Wet snickered. Alemara lightly hit him on the head.
"Y-you saw that?" Tamalex stuttered.
"Ha, Tamalex, acting shy?!" Wet chuckled sarcastically. Alemara hit him again a bit harder.
"Uh...well...Headache asked me to the dance..." Tamalex admitted, "I don't know what to do. Usually when we dance together, it's because we're forced to be partners because we're the only ones left."
"What are you going to say to him?" Alemara inquired.
"Well, he has improved his dancing skills since we were younger..." Tamalex trailed off.
"Hey, now that you mention it, I saw Headache in his room yesterday practising some dancing!" Wet burst out loud laughing. Alemara hit him a third time even harder.
Wet rubbed his head from the pain.
"Did I hurt wittle Wet the waptor?" Alemara teased.
"No...my head's just itchy!" Wet defended himself.
"Wait, did you say Headache was practising his dancing?" Tamalex asked.
"Yeah, with a broom and everything!" Wet laughed, "He was supposed to be sweeping the floor!" Wet continued laughing.
"Ok, Wet's too busy laughing. Fire, do you know how long Headache was planning to ask me to the dance?"
"Uh...maybe ever since he saw the paper? I mean, it is only the second day back..." Fire said.
"Oh, wow. It feels like it's been a couple weeks since we started. I fit in pretty fast I guess!" Tamalex said, "This gang of popular girls even asked me to join their group but then they said something about attacking some 'stupid dinosaurs' and I realised they were talking about you guys. So I declined. And then some fox girl was called me a stupid croc!"
"I see." Alemara said.
"They would have taken advantage of you!" Fire said to Tamalex, "They found you just because you were in Year 12 and they probably wanted to turn you against us! And they would do that to all of us, one by one."
"I'd rather hang out with my average friends than a popular group of bullies anyday." Tamalex said, "But I really wonder how a dance with Headache will play out. Does this mean he likes me?" Tamalex blushed as she asked the question.
"Possibly!" Fire said.
"Most likely!" Pencil said.
"Definitely!" Wet snickered. Alemara punched him.
"Sorry Wet!" she squealed.
"Mood swings..." muttered Pencil.
They all sat down. The crowd had all dwindled away by this point.
"Well anyway, get Headache and Axel! I need to tell you guys something!" Pencil said.
Right on cue, Axel dragged Headache over to them.
"Just tell her!" Axel demanded.
"No!" Headache refused.
"Tell her or I'll tell her for you!" Axel demanded.
"No way!" Headache said.
"Tell who what?" Pencil asked.
"Oh, Headache wants to tell Tamalex that-"
"No, I don't!" Headache interrupted Axel.
"There's no time for that right now!" Pencil said as Axel and Headache sat down, "Even though it's probably something love-related, for once there's actually something more important than that on my priority list!"
"What?" Axel asked.
"Yeah, what could be more important than love?" Alemara giggled.
"Some girls have been bullying Fire, Axel and I!"
"WHO ARE THEY SO I CAN BEAT THEM UP!?" Alemara shouted in rage.
"Ok, so I was in the bathroom, and these two mean girls Mindy and Cindy walked in and they said they were coming after us! So beware!" Pencil warned them.
"So, how come they haven't attacked us yet?" Alemara asked.
Tamalex pulled out a timetable.
"Because they all had a meeting to go to. It should end right about now, though, according to this." she said.
As Tamalex was putting the timetable away, Pencil remembered something else.
"Oh and Mindy also said she was going to-" she was cut off by Mindy diving at her with a knife. Not the meat cleaver, but a long, sharp knife.
Pencil swiftly dodged.
"Oh, uh, hehe, hey Mindy! I see you've got a new knife...!" Pencil smiled nervously and quickly ran off.
"Don't worry, Pencil, we got your back!" Alemara called back as she, Axel, Fire, Headache, Wet and Tamalex blocked the way in a line. Mindy snapped the fingers on her free hand.
The gang of girls showed up and threw rubbish at them. It was mainly potato chip packets.
"Use SODA CANS, you idiots!" Mindy shouted.
They pulled out empty cans of soda and threw them at the reptiles.
One of them threw a can full of soda at Axel. He fell over and his glasses fell off.
The other 5 all peered down at Axel, and then they all glared at Mindy and her gang in unison.
"ATTACK!" Alemara shouted.
Alemara shot ice out of her claws, Fire shot flames from his hands, Tamalex squirted milk out of her mouth, Wet squirted water from his mouth and Headache made wild tornadoes of leaves.
Mindy's whole gang fell over.
"Wow, you girls are pathetic." Mindy muttered angrily. Mindy threw a brick at them.
They all dodged.
Axel got up.
"Everyone grab onto Axel!" Tamalex shouted.
"What?" Axel asked.
They all formed a chain with Axel at the front.
"RUN!" Tamalex screamed.
Out of shock, Axel started running. The others desperately tried to hold on.
They all hid in the library.
"That girl is CRAZY!" Axel exclaimed, "She's so persistent! She just won't stop!"
"SSSHHH!" a librarian shushed them.
"Sorry." whispered Axel. The all went to the beanbag section and sat down on beanbags.
"Let's just rest here for a minute," Axel said in a soft voice, "After that we'll go and find Pencil."
"Hey, Headache?" Tamalex asked.
"Yeah?"
"Well, you said before that you wanted to go to the dance with me?" Tamalex asked.
"Uhh..." Headache trailed off.
"Well, I'd like to go with you." Tamalex said.
"Really?" Headache asked, "Are you tricking me?"
"No, really!" Tamalex exclaimed.
"Oh, ok..." Headache smiled, "Ok then."
"Yes!" he whispered to himself.
"I hope you and the broom did enough dancing practise!" Tamalex added, snickering.
"Wha-?" Headache then turned to Wet, who was laughing his head off, and glared at him.
"Do you think we should look for Pencil, now?" Fire asked nervously, "I mean, what if we lead them right to her?"
"You're right, Fire." Axel said, "We have to be sneaky."
Little did they know that Mindy and her gang were on the other side of the bookshelf, eavesdropping.
"You guys stay here and ambush them. Wait for me to leave first. I'll go hack into the computer system." she said softly to her gang of girls.
Mindy dashed out of the library.
"Do you guys hear something?" Alemara asked.
"Yeah, I hear something too!" Headache said.
All of a sudden, Mindy's gang leapt at them, tackling them all to the ground.
"Ow! Get off us!" yelled Wet.
"Ow!" screamed Headache.
"I'll use my fire powers on you!" Fire shouted.
"Ha!" shouted Veronica.
"We can't use our powers!" Tamalex exclaimed.
...
Meanwhile, Mindy was in the computer room, typing something. Pencil saw her through the door and gulped with worry. It had just occurred to her that she never got a chance to tell her friends about Mindy hacking into the computer.
Pencil ran in to stop Mindy but by then it was too late.
"Hello Pencil!" Mindy smiled evilly, standing up from her chair, "I'm sorry but you're a tad too late! The newspaper will be published overnight and will come out tomorrow! You can't do a thing about it now!"
"I can still tell my friends before it comes out!" Pencil said, running out of the room.
"Good luck," Mindy said sarcastically. She looked at a copy of the year 11 timetable pinned to the wall.
"You don't have any classes with your friends after lunch!"
The bell rang right when Pencil ran into the library and found her friends being pinned to the ground by Mindy's gang. They all heard the librarian coming around the corner and the gang of girls quickly ran off in the other direction and out of sight.
The librarian walked around the corner and saw Pencil helping her friends up.
"The bell has rung, please go to your classes." said the librarian.
"Wait! I need to tell you guys something!" Pencil exclaimed in a worried tone.
"I'm sorry, but you all have class time right now. You can wait til later." she said and walked away.
"Oh drat." Pencil said looking at her timetable, "I don't have any classes with you guys. Can't I just tell you now?"
"If it's going to take a long time, then no." said Alemara, "And I can't come over this afternoon. Tamalex and I both have fishing lessons."
"And I entered a motorcycle contest." said Wet.
"I have to study at my house. Sorry I can't come over, Pencil." said Axel.
Fire shrugged.
"Me and Headache have plans too. We're going shopping!" Fire said.
"But can't I-?!" but Pencil couldn't explain before her friends all walked off in separate directions.
Pencil sighed sadly.
She walked to class.
Oh no! Will Pencil ever get a chance to tell her friends about Mindy hacking into the computer before it's too late? Btw if you lost track, it's Tuesday in the story atm. Anyway, tune in next time to find out what happens the next day! And order some popcorn...or pizza! :P
