Serena and Chuck walked into his and Nate's empire suite to find Nate and Blair sitting on the couches bickering over something.

"Do I need to call your mothers to break up this fight?" Serena asked lightly.

"S!" Blair shrieked as she jumped up to get to Serena. "Please tell Nate that he cannot just take you up to the van der Bilt estate, we need to bond, as a group, here," she said.

"Nate I thought you said always sunny, the country isn't going to be sunny now," Serena complained leaning her head on Blair's shoulder.

"Wait when did you two discuss this?" Blair asked. "Never mind I don't wanna know but I still won't let you just take her away."

Nate sighed and Serena rolled her eyes. "Blair it would do her some good to be away from the drama for a few weeks, Chuck?" Nate said searching for his friend to help him argue with Blair.

"I think Nathaniel has a point," Chuck said and smirked at the look Blair gave him. "Of course the two of us will join them and it will be a party."

"I like Chucks idea, come on B, it'll be fun, just us. No Juliet, no parents…." Serena said.

"No Humphreys, I like this idea," Blair said smiling and Serena rolled her eyes. "Oh come on the only one you would miss is Cabbage Patch but that would only be you, the rest of us are perfectly fine with leaving them behind."

"Great then it's settled, we need to pack," Serena said excited about getting out of the city for a while.

"Small problem," Nate said holding his index finger and thumb close together.

"Your mother," Chuck finished.

"I love how the two of you are finishing each others sentences," Blair said raising an eyebrow at the boys.

"I thought you guys sorted that out," she said also amused but the boys have always been as close as she and Blair were.

"We were given instructions to wait here while Chuck got you," Nate said.

"Now that we have her, Humphrey is trying to get her to talk to Lily so he may have already went to mother dearest and told her we are here," Chuck said.

"Dan wouldn't do that, I asked him not to," Serena said.

"So now you're trusting the ultimate insider?" Blair asked bringing up old Gossip Girl nicknames.

"I don't remember him saying he won't tell Lily," Chuck said and Serena narrowed her eyes at him.

"Then you boys better hurry and get to her before cabbage patch finds his tractor and speed rolls to her spilling all the secrets he thinks he has. S and I can go to the penthouse and get our bags while you two talk to Lily and meet us there, if she does manage to get to Serena before you get to her I will be with her," Blair said.

"I feel like we should put our hands together and break or something," Serena said.

Nate looked amused, Chuck raised his eyebrow and Blair looked a little confused. "Why would we do something specifically meant for sport and the lower class?" she asked, Serena shook her head.

Blair and Serena went to the Waldorf penthouse while Nate and Chuck went to the van der Humphrey's to talk to Lily, who was hopefully calmer then she was the night before.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Serena asked Blair, she was still packing Blair on the other hand called ahead and had Dorota pack her things.

"I'm not staring at you like anything, I'm just curious," Blair said sitting on Serena's bed.

"About?" Serena prodded when Blair didn't say anything else, throwing more clothes onto the bed.

Blair held up the sweater Serena threw at her and raised her eyebrow at the blond. "Have you been shopping in Little J's closet?"

"Shut up B," Serena laughed. "I think my mother bought that for me from one of her exotic holiday trips."

"Still, more her taste then yours."

"Show's how well my mother knows me," Serena said pulling the sweater away from Blair and throwing it back into the cupboard. "I'll throw it away when we get back."

"Aha," Blair said eyeing Serena curiously. "So who have you chosen?"

"Honestly I don't know B, I walked into the empire that night completely confused about who to choose. I mean I've said it before, I love them both, how do you choose between…"

"The guy you've always loved or your first actual relationship?" Blair filled in with a knowing smile. "Neither you nor Nate were very good at acting and even though I was a bitch and refused to give him up I always wondered how the two of you would be in a relationship."

"B, we would've probably been the same as you were, actually we would've been far worse because my partying and drama would have eventually scared him off."

"Now see there's where you confuse him with Humphrey, Nate was there through the drama and drugs and imperfections and he still loves you."

"Just like Chuck still loves you?" Serena questioned and Blair shot her a deadly look.

"Stop changing the topic, just to comment a little more on your little dilemma though, you were, no you are the only one Nate's ever truly loved but that's not so true with Humphrey, Vanessa came before you."

Serena was about to reply when she heard the elevator and her mother's voice calling her name, she and Blair looked at each other a little surprised, Serena zipped up her bag and followed Blair to where Lily was.

"Blair, Serena," Lily greeted as they descended the stairs.

"Mrs … Humphrey," Blair greeted not sure what surname to use, Serena turned to Blair and nodded to tell her she'll be fine alone with her mother. "Cabbage patch, kitchen," she ordered Dan, who came with Lily, as she marched out of the room. Dan rolled his eyes and followed her.

"Are you here to take me away?" Serena asked as soon as they were alone.

"No," she said calmly. "I've spoken with Charles and Nathaniel, they explained that Jenny, Vanessa and Juliet were involved in your drugging. They also mentioned that you are going to the van der Bilts for a while."

"Yeah, I just need to get out of here for a while so now do you believe that I haven't gone back to my old ways?"

"Yes Serena, I know you've changed and I shouldn't have been so quick to assume the worst of you," she said walking forward and hugging Serena.

"See, I was right about Serena talking to her mother," Dan said, he and Blair were standing at the doorway ready to intervene if they were needed.

"You think it would have gone this smoothly if Nate and Chuck hadn't got to her first?" Blair asked with a raised eyebrow. "I know you think you were helping Humphrey but you really weren't."

"It may have, why doesn't anyone want to believe in Lily?" he asked.

"You haven't been living in the Upper East Side long enough to be caught up in the parental drama of our lives. Your mother was always there for you, she showed she loved you. She probably didn't constantly criticize the way you dressed, the things you ate, the way you behaved. If you did something she didn't approve of she would talk to you about it, maybe ground you and that was the end," Blair said.

"I don't see how …" he started and Blair held up her hand to stop him

"In the UES if they ever paid enough attention to see that you have a problem you would be locked in places like the Ostroff centre if your 'problem' was too much for society to handle. Although society wouldn't know this, they would think that you are on holiday or staying with relatives, we're very good at hiding things," Blair explained.

Dan stared at Blair for a while before turning his attention to Serena and Lily. "People change Blair."

Blair shook her head, "Not people brought up the way Lily was." Blair walked to Serena and Lily leaving Dan to his own thoughts about their childhood lives.

"Enjoy your time away, I wish you would have stayed in the city," Lily said with a smile hugging both the girls.

"I need this mom," Serena said and Lily mouthed a silent 'I know'.

"See you when you get back then?" Dan asked hugging Serena and she nodded.

"Yeah sure," Serena said smiling at him as they left the penthouse. "If I stayed in the city any longer they would have made me have more waffles, I swear all Rufus does is cook those ridiculous things the entire day."

"Come on lets get our bags," Blair said laughing at Serena's sudden rant.

"I would really love to know what they said to her," Serena said as they went up the stairs to grab their bags.

"They're charming and Lily could never say no to them, ever," Blair said. "This trip is going to make me break my promise to Juliet."

"You promised her something?" Serena asked surprised as they entered her room.

"I promised her that I will make her pay as soon as I know you're ok and well I know you are ok but I'm going out of the city, imagine how far away from here she can get," Blair said.

"She's probably already gone," Serena said.

"Chuck's PI is tracking her, she isn't going anywhere without us knowing but I really don't want to travel too far just to destroy her," Blair said.

"Well you can make her pay when we get back, think of it as a planning retreat," Serena suggested. "And I'll come with you, we can make it a holiday thing."

"What are you two talking about?" Nate asked as he and Chuck took the girls bags.

"My plans for the Goth Queen and her ladies in waiting being on a temporary break while we're at your Grandfathers," Blair said.

"Now I'm excited about coming back to the city if you have the action planned," Chuck said and Blair smirked she needed to think of something to really make them pay.
