INFECTIOUS LOVE; CHAPTER SIX
Melody shifted her sore neck as she opened one eye and glanced around the room.
Still in my room, Melody thought as she glanced up at the clock. I can't believe I slept for- Spit, Lexi, she probably…
Melody froze, her thoughts vanishing as she heard footsteps walking around the apartment. Osmosis and Leah can't be home now, can they? Melody wondered as she grabbed her phone, there were no messages from Ozzy or Leah, making her more nervous.
She got up quietly, tiptoeing towards the door; grabbing her purse, she held it like a shield before quietly walking out of her room.
"I have a purse, and I'm defiantly not afraid to use it. So I suggest you come out right now." Melody said, pushing away her fear.
Melody entered the kitchen, quickly glancing around before heading towards the door.
"You wouldn't really hit me with a purse now would you?" Melody shrieked, dropping her purse in the process.
"Lexi,-" She turned around sharply glaring at her germ friend, "How the hell did you get into my apartment?"
Lexi giggled before plopping onto the couch, "Easy, the balcony. You should really lock that door; you don't want any creeps now."
Melody smirked, "Wouldn't want that" she said coldly before bending down to pick up her purse.
"You okay?" Lexi asked, eyeing her friend up and down.
Melody smiled slowly before walking over to the kitchen stool, "No, Leah is so mad at me. I just don't know how to please her anymore, it's like she wants me to be exactly like her-"Melody paused, trying to think of the right words, "I don't want too though, I'm Melody Fitzpatrick, not Leah Estrogen. I shouldn't be treated like I'm 12 right?"
Lexi shrugged, "I don't know, my parents barley talked to me… You're lucky you got people that care."
Melody sighed, "I guess, but it's like ever since I got the job at the Blood Clot, Leah's been treating me differently, even Osmosis and Drix see it. Like this morning she yelled at me because I came home at four in the morning, and when I told her about Max, she flipped even more."
"Because she cares Mel, if she didn't give a damn, do you think she would even ask?" Melody lifted up a finger to object, but Lexi continued on, cutting her off. "Melody you don't understand, Leah cares about you. She doesn't want you making the wrong choices."
"So is Max a wrong choice?" Melody asked, her voice slightly deflating.
"Does he make you happy?"
Melody nodded, "Yes. I know I just met him yesterday, and we hung out once but, there's something about him. I'm not sure what, but he's different then the vaccines I know, and I'm drawn to it."
Lexi laughed, "If he makes you happy then don't let the fear of what others think stop you from doing the things that make you smile. Leah will just have to get over it eventually."
Melody laughed, staring in awe at Lexi, "So tell me Melody, how good is Max?"
She gasped in shock, her cheeks slightly turning pink, "I beg your pardon?"
"You heard me Fitz, obviously you guys had some action" Lexi winked before getting up and walking over to the fridge.
"No, we didn't. Why would you even ask that? God no."
Lexi snickered, quickly taking a sip of water. "I'm curious, duh. Why else would I ask that?"
Melody rolled her eyes, a smile crept on her lips, "We didn't do anything, he's not like that-" Melody heard Lexi snort in amusement, "He's not Lex, I swear; but if you must know about last night-"
"Please share, I'm dying to know what kind of kisser he is."
"Well maybe if you'd stop interrupting me I'd be able to continue," Melody rolled her eyes before continuing, "Anyways, you know that old clearing? Like out back behind the club, maybe a block away-"
Lexi nodded smiling warmly, "Well, he had a blanket, and we sat down for a couple hours just talking about ourselves. Actually I just talked about myself, Max seemed very, um, nervous when I tried to bring his background up."
"Well what did you ask him?"
"Just his family life, he said he doesn't remember much,"
Lexi furrowed her eyebrow, trying to sink the information in, "Oh, well what did he ask you?"
"Same stuff, he asked about family, friends, where I work. It's funny, when I talk about working for the mayor, everyone gets super bored; but Max, he seemed entertained."
"Oohh sounds crazy." Lexi said in a sarcastic tone.
Melody groaned in annoyance, "Do you know what the hypothalamus chamber is?"
"Um no, is it a joke between you and Max?"
Melody shook her head, "Nope. Anyways, that's about it. We just talked about each other, and then I took him to see Clause. We missed the bus back to the club so we had to walk in the rain. I um, kissed his cheek when he dropped me off, but that's about the whole night."
Lexi grinned in approval as she waved her hands around frantically, "Seems like a total fairytale."
"Yeah, I guess. Hey do you find it weird that Max may know Osmosis?"
Lexi's smile slowly faded, "No,"
"Well why not?" Melody asked.
"Because Melody, I asked him if he worked for the immunity last night, he said no and when I asked why Max said he wanted the immunity dead."
Melody's stomach twisted into knots, a wave of nausea rushed over her.
"Mel, you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I forgot to tell you that Leah thinks we're drunken whores."
Lexi's jaw clenched as she got up and strutted her way towards Melody's room.
"Where are you going?" Melody asked jumping out of the chair,
"Looking inside your closet for cute ass clothes."
She slowed down her pace as she watched Lexi open her closet doors, "Well why?"
Lexi smirked while glancing at a short light pink mini dress, "Because, if Leah thinks you're a drunk whore now, just wait until she sees you tonight."

"Should I call her? Or should I just text?"
Thrax stared down at the small phone placed on the table, "I could say, 'Hey, it's Max', but what if she's expecting a call? Cruz-"
He paused calmingly looking up at the germ sitting across from him, "If you were Melody, what would you prefer? A call or text?"
Cruz snorted, he put down the sandwich he was holding, trying to cover a laugh, "How the hell should I know?"
Thrax scowled at Cruz's reply before holding a long gaze at the phone; lighting his claw, he aimed it towards the phone angrily.
"Aye Yo man, don't do that, I don't have enough money to replace all the shit you burn when you're angry." Cruz exclaimed as he reached over the table grabbing the phone and quickly shoving it into his pocket.
Thrax growled in disapproval, his claw returning to its natural shade.
"Why you making a big deal anyway? Just send her a text and leave it alone; I mean you said so yourself you had a certain deadline for taking this body down, and you're wasting time by flirting with my bartender." Cruz said between bites of his sandwich, earning a displeased look from the virus.
"I'm not wasting my time. She's an important part in this plan, without her I won't be able to succeed."
"You almost succeeded once without her, why the hell can't you do it again?"
Thrax sighed, "You are forgetting two useful things, first of all she has access to my chain and the hypothalamus chamber-"Cruz nodded, finally understanding, "Secondly, she's close with Jones." Thrax spit out the name like it was poison, before returning to a calming emotion.
"So basically you're using her?" Thrax nodded, keeping his eyes on his claws, "Then how come texting and calling her is such a big deal?"
"Well, it isn't-"
Cruz laughed, "You have feelings for her, don't you?"
Thrax glared at the germ angrily, his burner claw turning bright orange, "You are so fucking lucky I don't kill you." Thrax said angrily before pushing back the chair and walking to his room.
He's totally in love…. Cruz thought, laughing hardly as he made another sandwich.

Leah sighed, a displeased look placed on her face, "Ozzy, Drix, common. We need to do this."
"Actually baby, you need to do this; we don't really care." Ozzy said as he glanced from Leah to Drix.
"Osmosis is right Leah. It's wrong to snoop around in-"
"Drix where do I work?" Leah asked angrily, Drix, startled by the sudden anger stuttered, "Well, um, with the mayor?"
"Exactly, and because I work in Cerebellum Hall, I have access to files, access all over the brain and I have access to use these resources whenever I like."
"But, snooping around because you think Melody's lying?" Leah glared at Osmosis, a feeling of calmness rushed over her.
"She is Ozzy, why can't you just-"
"I don't think you're being very fair towards her." Drix stated, causing Osmosis to look up from the ground.
Osmosis stared softly at Leah, a small smirk grew on his face, "Leah think about it, she's a grown women now. She can take care of herself, and we all know that; and not to mention she's the most trustworthy person I know. She's never done anything bad; she's always been that good kid. So cut her some slack the first time she decides to have fun. I'm a cop Leah, and if I trust her, why can't you?"
"Because," Leah whined, "She shouldn't be out that late with a boy who she 'just met'"
Drix chuckled to himself, "I know this is none of my business, but I must say that Osmosis is actually right about something for once. Melody just wants to live her life in a carefree fashion right now and I think we should just accept it and guide her."
"Thanks Drips, but I'm always right." Osmosis said, flashing a big smile.
"Once again, it's Drix."
Osmosis shrugged, half smiling, "Whatever… Leah do you finally understand?"
Leah nodded calmly, glancing at the ground. "I guess, maybe I'm just overreacting. How should I apologize? I hurt her pretty bad this morning and I feel awful…"
Drix smiled adjusting his canon arm, "What does she like?"
"Doughnuts!" Osmosis stated, earning a laugh from the group.
"I think I have the perfect girl getaway." Leah said pure excitement in her voice.
"It better involve doughnuts…" Osmosis said eagerly before following Leah and Drix down the street.

"I'm not so sure about this idea anymore…" Melody glanced around the empty street, quickly pulling her dress down.
"Hunny, it's supposed to be that short." Lexi called out as she spun around glancing at Melody from head to toe.
"But-" Melody tried to object, but only to be shot down by Lexi's voice.
"Leave it." Lexi started, quickly running over and shooing away Melody's tugging hands.
Melody groaned in frustration, as she brushed her hair back, "Can we go home?" She asked hopefully,
"Why? You seemed to be okay with doing this earlier."
"Well that was before you actually, you know; made me wear this dress…"
Lexi folded her small green arms, "Excuse me Melody, but I didn't make you wear anything, I asked and you agreed."
"Out of all the clothes I have, you pick this one?" Melody asked as she rubbed her arms, feeling the cold air on her skin.
"If you don't like the dress then how come you bought it?" Lexi giggled as she flipped her hair over her shoulder.
"It was cute…"
Lexi rolled her eyes, giggling at her friend. "So what time did Officer Jones say he was going to be out till?"
"He said around 11 he'd bring Leah home."
Lexi nodded, a big smile spread on her face.
"What?" Melody asked, her eyes wandering around the empty street as they walked.
"Nothing," Lexi replied calmly, staring into absolute space.
"I don't think I can do this," Melody swallowed the lump growing in her throat as she felt her stomach twist into knots.
"We can go home if you want."
Melody snorted as Lexi spoke, "You're kidding right? The whole day you've been telling me how awesome this club is and now that I want to go-"
"Melody," Lexi's voice was calm as she stopped walking, only to step in front of Melody, "I know you don't want to be here, I've sensed it all day."
"I do want to be here, I just think it's a bad idea-"
"You are a horrible actress, so stop lying to yourself."
Melody let out a sigh of relief that Lexi caught on before it became too late.
"Come on, we should go now before we miss the bus" Lexi said, turning around and heading the way they came.
"No, I'll go by myself. Have fun at the club."
"Do you seriously think I'd let you walk these streets alone?" Melody shot up a hand to object but Lexi ignored it, "If anything happened to you-"
"Lexi," Melody said calmingly, "I can take care of myself."
Lexi sighed, "Nope. I'm coming with you." Rolling her eyes in annoyance, Melody folded her arms, "Seriously I can do things myself. Please Lexi."
"Fine-" Lexi knelt down and grabbed a small knife that was hidden from her boot.
"Take this and use it if anything happens. Use your cell phone too, and also use your voice."
Melody grinned eagerly as she took the knife from her hands, carefully running her finger on the blade.
"Well what are you going to use in case, you know…"
Lexi smiled as she patted her boot, "Always bring two. Now be safe okay? Promise me you'll call me when you get to the bus?"
Melody chuckled as she pulled her friend into a hug.
"Promise. See ya later!" Melody said as she bounced away from the embrace and began to walk down the darkly lit street…
What's going to happen to Melody? Dundundunnn
What does Leah have planned?
And could Thrax possibly be catching some feelings with a certain red-headed cell?
Guess you'll have to read more to find out :)) Hope you all liked this chapter!
