A/N: With Concordia gone, Sparrow had quite the phase to go through… alone…

P.S. A small feature coming to the next story arch (which character will it be?). I feel like the feature should enhance your reading experience!

6 years ago, midnight, hidden cavern…

Sparrow stumbled into the hidden residence her mother and she had always returned to.

She inched toward her bed and collapsed on top of the sheets.

She let the blankets embrace her as tears continued to stream down her cheeks.

"Mom's gone." Sparrow stated internally.

Sparrow looked up at the rocky ceiling for a moment.

She closed her eyes tightly and tried her hardest to forget about the night's events, but to no avail.

She could still see the vivid images of her mother's last moments flashing in her head.

Sparrow rose and walked over to her workbench.

Through violent sobs and stinging tears, Sparrow constructed a Hypnosis crystal.

In her distressed state, she did not care nor consider the duration of the crystal, meaning that the effects of the hypnosis would last for an unknown amount of time after administration.

She swayed the crystal from side to side as she stared into the gem and began making a declaration.

"You'll make them pay for what they've done." Sparrow began.

"You'll forget the power that you possess, and you will also forget about what your mother has told you about your power so that one day you may rediscover it and unleash your full power on those who oppose you." Sparrow continued to herself.

"When you awake tomorrow, you will be reborn. You don't need anyone else. It's all on you now." Sparrow finished.

With those final words, she felt the Hypnosis crystal's effect kick in.

Sparrow let the exhaustion, pain, and anger wash over her as she slowly succumbed to the peacefulness of sleep.

Early morning, hidden cavern…

"I'll see you again my little Sparrow." Concordia's voice echoed in Sparrow's dream.

Sparrow sprung awake and fell off her chair.

She observed her surroundings for a moment.

Her workbench was quite messy from the previous night, so she decided that she should clean up before anything else.

After grabbing an apple for breakfast, she could finally think straight, and focus on the day's tasks.

Sparrow grabbed her cloak, blasting staff, and a small assortment of crystals.

The young crystal mage headed out of the cavern.

"Today marks a new phase of my life." Sparrow announced internally.

"Today, I show the Cyclonians who they have hurt, and how they will pay." Sparrow finished internally as she pulled the hood of the cloak over her head and proceeded towards Incrementum.

Early afternoon, Incrementum…

The orphaned crystal mage wandered the busy streets of Incrementum.

From behind her simple brown cloak, she observed the citizens going about their daily duties.

As she approached the market district, she caught the aroma of freshly baked goods.

The scent was accompanied by the roaring of vendors as they vocally advertised their produce and products.

As Sparrow continued through the market district, the aroma brought back memories of her mother and her shopping together at the market.

Early evening, Incrementum…

As she left the market district for a more residential area, she observed two Cyclonian infantry patrolling along the street.

She sneered at them from the cover of her cloak.

"How I want to end their lives right here, right now!" Sparrow screamed internally.

She walked past the two guards as she continued her stroll around the city.

Sparrow had not come to Incrementum for supplies, nor had she come to meet someone.

Her only intention was to slay a few Cyclonians when the chance presented itself.

The lone crystal mage turned a corner and continued her serene walk for a few more moments.

Her stroll was interrupted as a yell came from an alley in front of her.

"Time to hunt." Sparrow stated internally.

Sparrow slowly proceeded into the alley and caught three silhouettes around a corner.

One individual was cowering in a fetal position while the other two shadows stood intimidatingly.

Sparrow waited around the corner for a moment to analyze the situation further.

"You're coming with us!" came a voice from around the corner.

"We're going to have a lot of fun with you!" said the other voice.

Only audible whimpers resonated as the two captors moved in for the kill.

Without further hesitation, Sparrow lunged around the corner and ignited the crystal on her staff.

"Get her!" yelled one of the Cyclonian soldiers.

Before his comrade could dodge, Sparrow jammed the staff into his abdomen and pinned him against the wall with it.

The other soldier looked in horror as his impaled comrade slowly slid to the ground with blood trickling from his mouth.

"You did this." Sparrow uttered as she swept her staff under the soldier's feet, knocking him to the ground.

Sparrow began pummeling the soldier with strikes from her crystal staff.

The alley soon became splattered with crimson as Sparrow began to slow her strikes.

In exhaustion, Sparrow rested against the wall, catching her breath as she slowly sat down.

She looked over to the traumatized civilian who she had saved from the two Cyclonians.

"Why?" the shaken female villager asked.

"Because they took everything from me." Sparrow replied as she wiped some blood off her cloak.

After resting for a few more moments, Sparrow slowly rose and headed for the exit of the alley way.

"Wait!" the female villager exclaimed as Sparrow was about to turn the corner.

"What." Sparrow answered flatly.

"Who are you?" the villager inquired.

"The Crystal Mage of Terra Quies." Sparrow answered simply as she walked around the corner, and disappeared from the female villager's field of view.

Sparrow proceeded toward the gates of Incrementum.

When she reached the checkpoint, she overheard a few Cyclonian soldier's rapidly scrambling into the city.

"They killed two of our own! Gather the others!" a frantic Cyclonian soldier shouted as his comrade ran to get reinforcements.

Sparrow gave a small smirk as she saw the Cyclonian soldier run off into the city.

"One day, it'll all catch up to you." Sparrow muttered as she observed the chaos she had created.

Late evening, hidden cavern…

The crystal mage returned to her hidden residence.

She unceremoniously tossed her cloak aside.

Feeling famished, she procured a piece of bread and an apple from her food storage.

As she quietly ate, she glanced at her staff which was prompted up against her workbench.

The head of the staff was still covered in blood from the day's events.

"I guess I have to clean that off to avoid unnecessary attention." Sparrow said internally as she eyed the blood-stained staff.

The cold night's breeze blew into the cavern.

Sparrow observed the shadows from the moonlight caressing the foliage that were now casted upon the cavern floor.

"I'll clean the blood tomorrow." Sparrow announced mentally.

With that, the young crystal mage cleaned up, and slid under her sheets.

Sparrow could still feel the anger inside of her.

She needed more of them.

She needed more prey.

"The hunt continues tomorrow." Sparrow reassured mentally as she slowly succumbed to the grasp of sleep.
