Many students were gathered in front of the bulletin board by the main entrance of the school building, which had a memo pasted in it. It was about the tutoring sessions.
"To all the students enrolled in the tutoring sessions:
You should be at the library by 5 pm, bringing your books and study guides, which will be delivered today. The entrance to the library will be forbidden for those who are not part of the program. In case you are not able to assist, you should let it know the school principal. The tutoring sessions will begin on Monday and your partners will be assigned that day."
"Yuuki… how are you feeling?" Zero saw the girl walking next to the crowd of students. He was still worried about her. After what had happened last night, he was worried about her, especially because she didn't say what made he feel like that.
"Zero! I'm fine thanks" she blushed a little
"That's good to hear but… what happened yesterday had something to do with Kaname sempai, right?"
"Yes, but… apparently it was just a big confusion"
"Or that is what they want you to think" he turned his gaze, a little annoyed "anyways… before class starts we are supposed to deliver this papers to the Moon Dorm. They're for the tutoring sessions"
"Sure, let's go… and I will explain everything to you while we're on it" Yuuki blushed a little as they headed to where the vampires were. She explained to Zero what had happened and the talk she had with Rhoslyn. They passed the checkpoint by the dorm entrance without any problems. Being prefects allowed them to enter the Moon Dorm grounds.
"Honestly, it doesn't surprise me. Those monsters using that kind of tricks for politics just shows how despicable are they. Still, I didn't see that one coming from him"
"Please, don't talk like that about Kaname sempai! They should be going through a difficult situation"
"That is not our business, just keep in mind whom are you dealing with. I wouldn't like to see you getting hurt again. I don't know what would I do if that happened" Zero looked at the girl with a very intense glance, like if he was about to say something very important and sincere, but the dormitory door opened and a girl with grey hair showed up, staring at them.
"Yes?"
"Hmm… we came to deliver the syllabus for the tutoring sessions that will start on Monday" said Yuuki with a shy voice and while Zero looked broody.
"Yuuki… I didn't expect to see you this early" Kaname appeared behind Seiren, tenderly looking at the teenage girl, but there was something else in his eyes too.
"Kaname sempai…"
"We came to deliver this syllabus and unfortunately it's a personal delivery, so we cannot leave them just with anyone" Zero out emphasis in that last word "this might take a little while"
"Kiryuu kun, what a nice surprise" said the vampire sarcastically "Please, come in… Seiren, gather everyone who enrolled in the tutoring sessions" immediately the girl disappeared "have a seat while everyone is gathered"
Kaname was checking Yuuki's behavior, trying to figure out her attitude in case there was still some sadness inside her or perhaps some anger that could show in her eyes, but the girl was reluctant of seeing him to the eyes. He was pretty sure the reaction had been caused by the paper Aidou showed him the night before and he was eager to speak with her alone so he could explain everything.
He wasn't very worried, since Yuuki's attitude towards him didn't change much, but still he tried to show her a little affection and proximity by leaning on the back of the couch where she was sitting; next to her.
In front of them Rima and Shiki were talking. They looked very relaxed and without any intentions of going somewhere else.
"I think Ichijo signed in for that tutoring thing. I wonder if he is any good at teaching"
"Unless he's the one receiving the tutoring"
"Don't be ridiculous Rima, is obvious that the Night Class students will be the ones teaching the Day Class students. Don't forget that our academic level is higher" a blonde vampire with blue eyes was coming down the stairs, wearing some green pajamas.
"Their modesty is admirable… as well as their pajama's choice" said Zero, trying to piss off Aidou.
"And just who do you think you are to judge my clothes?! Giorgio Armani?"
"Well, actually, Mr. Prefect has a point. Your pajama is a little… too old fashion" aid a female voice behind Yuuki.
"Rhoslyn, not everyone could have the fashion style we've got" Aisha made down the stairs too, fixing her hair in a smug way.
"And who invited you two?"
"I'll be joining the tutoring sessions… and I supposed you too?...as well as your cousin, who's been following me thought the hall.
"You guessed, Aisha. I was about to go to sleep thou…" Akatsuki said with a sleepy face and yawning.
"I'm afraid I won't be joining you in this one, so I will leave you all with this nice company" said Rhoslyn touching Zero's arm and winking at Yuuki, who turned to see Kaname and blushed a little.
"You won't be joining us Rhoslyn-chan?"
"I'm sorry Ichijo, there are some businesses I have to take care of from time to time and I can't be sure I will be here for all the tutoring sessions"
"Oh well... I was hoping you could teach me Romanian"
"Since when did you have interest in languages?" asked Shiki from his seat.
"Wow… they even look like normal teenagers if you like at them like this" Zero whispered to Yuuki.
"I think someone needs to teach you some manners" Aidou approached Zero menacingly.
"Please… let's hurry up so we can resume our activities asap" Kaname put some order."Yuuki?"
"Oh… yeah, I think everyone is already here" she looked at all the vampires who were in the room "I will be calling your names and Zero will give you the syllabus" the male guardian opened a box with some notebooks and started to deliver them to the vampire students.
"When you head to the library on Monday, a prefect will be accompanying you all the way there. And I think I don't need to remind you that the school rules must be followed"
"Ok, thank you very much" Kaname approached both prefects " let me walk you to the door"
"Thanks, Kaname sempai" said Yuuki kindly as she smiled, with more shyness than usual.
"Oh by the way, the Headmaster asked me to give you this" Zero took out an envelope from his pocked "bye" and they left the building.
A little while after that all the vampires returned to their rooms and Kaname opened the envelope, reading the message from the Headmaster, immediately getting more serious. Then he went to the second floor to instruct Seiren some things and entered his room, hoping to get some sleep. He was totally exhausted from his own thoughts and actions last night, so a good sleep was just what he needed.
An hour before Night Class headed to the school building, Aisha and Rhoslen were patrolling the Moon Dorm surroundings, but this time they were accompanied by Seiren, as well as the Day Class prefects. They looked more serious than usual; they even put some metal fences to keep the students at bay when Night Class came out.
"Ok, so the plan is: we have to double the security…"
"Triple, Aisha, triple!"
"Sorry Seiren… triple the security, not let any funny business happens and assure the safety of both classes. Understood but why the hell a bunch of vampire hunters are coming?" Aisha finished fixing the fences and crossed her arms as disapproval.
"I can think of many things, but having in mind what's going on, the worst thing that could happen is to have an accident between the two classes just in front of them. That would be a mess!
"Rhoslyn…" Seiren was being persuasive with her tone as she looked at her with a little mistrust.
"Oh, come on! They are guardians too; they have the right to know some things. Besides, they are on a better position to complain about all this mess with the Headmaster.
"Let's just focus on the task at hand and there should be no problems" Yuuki smiled "Zero, help me out with this!"
Several minutes later some Day Class students started to gather near the Moon Dorm, wanting to see the Night Class students pass, but just before they could start with the usual mess and screams they were led behind the fences. The guardians told them that it was because some government inspectors were coming to check the school. A very convincing argument.
The tension could be felt among the prefects when five guys dressed casually in dark colors came near the exited teenagers, silently and trying to be unnoticed. They were discretely watching the every move of everyone around them and their glances were threatening. For the Day Class students, there wasn't anything out of place, but the vampires felt the special vibe coming from the hunters.
When Night Class went out, there was something slightly different in their attitude. Surely Kaname let them know about the vampire hunters that would be there during the afternoon. Some of the vampires were around Kaname, like if they were protecting him and sending a clear message to the hunters: don't mess with the pureblood. Even Aidou wasn't so full of energy while he greeted his fans, which somehow made the prefect's job easier.
Then, a girl approached the crowd. She was running as fast as she could, apparently late for seeing the Night Class parade. As soon as the vampire hunters noticed her, one of them made a smirk when the girl passed next to him and put a little rock in her way, making her fall.
The girl lay on the ground, hurt and with a scratched knee, without knowing her accident was caused by those vampire hunters. Blood started to appear from her injuries, making the vampires focus on her as soon as they noticed it. Immediately Kaname knew what had happened and saw his classmates in a harsh way, like if he was speaking to them with the eyes. Evidently he stopped them from making any kind of movement or action that could give them away, so they passed by just ignoring the girl, but it was a whole different thing for Zero. He was very thirsty, he hadn't feed in the last week and as soon as the smell of the blood reached his nose his eyes turned red.
"Zero! Stop being a lazy ass and help me restrain these girls! They are trying to jump the fence!" Rhoslyn took Zero's hand, waking him up from the trance the blood caused him "Yuuki, why don't you take that girl to the infirmary, it looks like she was very hurt"
"I…" there was a pause before Zero could speak again. He didn't expect any of that, but quickly he understood what was going on and started to play along with Rhoslyn "You better don't jump that fence, if you know what's good for you! And what the hell do you think you're doing girls?! Go back to your dorms!" there was something in the vampire's touch that made him forget about the blood and the thirst he had.
Yuuki took the girl away, leading her to the infirmary while Aisha took care of the screaming girls, keeping them at bay just like she only knew. Apparently she had a talent for that. A couple minutes later the whole Night Class was inside the school building and the fangirls went back to their dorms.
"Say, gentleman… why don't we go to get some tea? By now I'm sure you all noticed that there is nothing out of the place in here and my pacifism ideals are pretty effective" out of nowhere Kaien Cross appeared, most likely he had seen everything "please, come with me"
The vampire hunters followed him to his office, talking while they were at it and leaving the prefects behind.
"That was close! Nothing good could come from that kind of people. That thing was on purpose! We were lucky that nothing happened!" Rhoslyn said as she grabbed her schoolbag from behind some bushed.
"How did you do that?" Zero asked suddenly, a little bit angry and scared.
"All I can say is that you own me" she winked at him
"How ironic… we ended up defending Day Class from a prefect…" Aisha started to laugh "but don't look so gloomy Zero, nothing happened… the thing is, now you will be in charge of taking off those fences ok? We have to go to class."
"How funny!" he said, very angry as he looked at them go away "but what the hell was that? My thirst didn't fully disappear but I was able to contain myself…"
"Are you ok?" Yuuki, who just came back to check on her friend, looked at him with much concern.
"Yes, nothing happened… just a little reminder of what those beast did to me"
The night was at it's full in the sky and night classes were going like they normally would. It was the fourth period and all the tension the vampire hunters had brought was pretty much gone. They were talking with the Headmaster and their threats couldn't be felt around the vampires.
"Alright, take out a sheet of paper" a whisper started to sound after the teacher said that "hurry up and keep it quiet"
"Oh, don't tell me…" Rhoslyn looked at Aisha with doubt in her eyes and biting her pencil.
"What? I don't get it"
"I think he's going to…"
"Ok, question 1, what are the main objectives of the accounting applied to administration?" the teacher made a pause and looked harshly at the students, smiling and showing his fangs "quiet kids, we're on exam. Let's see how many victims we'll have tonight"
"Surprise exam! Damn!"
"What? Is that even possible? I thought they let you know before an exam, nobody told me that this could happen! I need to speak with the headmaster!" Aisha said in despair.
"Pay attention to your exam, miss. You can tell your traumas to the Headmaster later, right now focus on not failing the exam"
After a couple minutes, they started to solve the exam that was filled with math problems and complex calculations that would make anyone go insane.
"What the hell is this? Did we even…" Rhoslyn looked at her exam with a very funny expression
"Could you tell me the answer for the question…2 and 3… and… well would you help me out?
"Silence girls! We're on the middle of a test, I don't want to switch your places like if we were on elementary school. And by the way, I kind of get amnesia on exam days, so I won't answer to any doubts"
"How convenient…" Aisha growled and kept answering her exam.
A little while passed and suddenly a loud sound came from one of the windows, like if it was broken or something. Some vampires turned around to see what was going on, but most of them didn't pay attention. A little later, it sounded again and the windowsill next to Rhoslyn started to show cracks.
"What the hell?" said the blonde girl and then looked at her friend, who had the same astonished expression.
"The freaking hell is going…ah!...ups!" she started to say, looking at Aisha's direction and seeing Kaname, who was a couple meters away from them, with a serious frown and a deadly glance, looking straight at both girls. Soon after that he turned to see his exam with an even angrier look "You better focus on your exam…"
The class continued normally and all students gave the exam to the professor. The ones who had class in another classroom left right after finishing the exam, and the other stayed in there. When Kaname left his seat, he looked like his normal and quiet self and spoke for a while with the teacher before leaving the room. Nobody could hear what he said, but as soon as he left the windowsill, now filled with cracks finally fell apart. Most of the class didn't mind it thou.
"What was that?" Aisha didn't have a clue of what was going on.
"Well, I have a slight idea, but…" in that very moment Akatsuki turned to see both girls. His sit was right in front of them and next to Aidou's.
"Don't worry… every time the dormitory leader Kuran has problems with his exams or exercises, the same thing happens… actually, is very easy to know when he's going to have a good result o his tests. You can measure it with the seize of the cracks. If the window is complete, he will get a good grade… if something like today happens…well, I think he will have to pay more attention to class."
"Don't talk about Kaname sama like that" Aidou started to yell.
"So, this… is normal?" Aisha didn't believe it, while Rhoslyn tried so hard not to laugh very hard.
"Sorry Hanabusa… but that is the truth. And… it looks like he did pretty bad in this exam…the window is now pretty much useless"
"Has there ever been a time when all the windows broke?
"Rhoslyn! How dare…."
"I remember this one time, on redaction's final test…"
"Akatsuki!" both girls stsrted to laugh after seeing Kain's expression while Aidou was trying to shut him up.
"So, Aidou, how was the test for you?"
"Naturally, it was great… being the genius I am, a test as simple as that one couldn't have much complication"
"Oh I forgot how modest you are, Mr. Genius… How about you Aisha?"
"I think I will fail it…. I really need those tutoring sessions asap" she had a suffering expression for a while, and then Yagari sensei entered the classroom, with his usual coldness.
"Take out your text book and open it on page 87. I want you to make an abstract from the topic "Kolberg's stages of the moral judgment" with examples, and you will do it individually. You two, I will not allow you to be together.. De Angelis, sit down in that bench over there, and miss Novak, you're good just where you are… the same goes for Mr. Kain, but Mr. Hanabusa…" Yagari saide seriously and using his first name to make him angry un purpose " in that bench next to miss Touya. Just one student per row… I don't want anyone copying and I trust you guys enough"
Everybody looked rather uncomfortable with the teacher, but still did what they were told and started to work while Yagari walked next to the students checking their writing.
The class was very quiet, but certain black haired girl wasn't able to concentrate on her work. The broken window was so tempting; the landscape that could be seen through it was very beautiful with the school gardens and the beautiful moon, as well as the fresh air that came from the outside. The whole thing was very relaxing for Rhoslyn, who immediately remembered the Romanian nights in the woods, before all that politic crap happened.
Yagari was talking with Shiki about his work and Aidou looked at them over his shoulder, arrogantly like he was a know it all…which pretty much he was.
"How annoying!" said Rhoslyn to herself and began to write her abstract but a few minutes later she noticed some notebooks and books in the bench in front of her. Aidou's belongings conveniently left there without anyone noticing them. And that was the moment when a big idea came to her mind.
Using her vampire speed, and after making sure nobody saw her, she grabbed one of the notebooks and threw it out the window, immediately putting her most angelical mask and continuing with her work. The same procedure was repeated several times with an eraser, a pen and even with a piece of thee broken window… actually that last one was just to avoid anyone getting hurt with it. What the hell was a broken glass doing in the desk anyways?
"Miss Novak, as soon as you are finished playing around, I want you to give me your most likely unfinished abstract and leave the classroom, please" Yagari looked at her with a killing glare completely surprising the girl. Apparently her mischievousness weren't unnoticed, and it was the least she could expect from a vampire hunter. Still she was a little pissed when she grabbed her belongings and giving Yagari the paper with a couple notes that were supposed to be an abstract "see you next week and… I want an exposition of this topic for Monday"
"What?... ok professor…" making a notorious sigh she left the classroom, but before that she looked at Aidou and laughed a little.
As soon as she went outside she started to patrol around the school. That was her last class of the day and duty called. Soon she noticed one of those vampire hunters prowling around. The idea of those guys walking around the campus could only mean problems for the vampires, but they were doing their job…somehow. With a little luck, he wouldn't have noticed the cracked window or the school stuff falling from the third floor.
The weekend passed painfully fast for the students enjoying their free time. The weather was getting warmer, summer would be there soon and hanging around the pool was the favorite activity for many Day Class students, who were the only ones allowed to use it. For some "strange reason" Night Class students didn't have permission to go to the pool during the day, and using a pool at night just wasn't the same. For that same reason, they could be found having a walk around the town or eating ice cream with their friends, some night they even rode bikes trough the small city.
Akatsuki was apparently a loner, but it wasn't unusual to see him with his cousins. It was like if he was taking care of them, keeping them away from trouble, especially with Hanabusa who loved to break the school rules. Ruka was calmer and usually her weekends were spent in one of her friend's houses or barely leaving the Moon Dorm. That weekend was particularly the type he was most fond of: no homework, a very few vampires around the dorm and a little walk around town with Aidou buying candies. He couldn't think about anything more relaxing.
Even the dormitory leader was spending the whole weekend inside his studio. The red hair vampire knew it very well: Kaname's behavior just showed that he was planning something big, but he decided to ignore it. Besides that, he had gone to this studio right away after seeing Avriell and her friends pass by, which was a little weird, but didn't mind it at all. Instead he was more interested in hearig the fashion show story from Hanabusa when they went to have dinner in town. Perhaps that was the reason why Kaname was acting so weird.
On Monday morning, a couple minutes before the dawn and without anybody around the school campus Kain could hear a very loud and unmistakable noise, which was most likely heard by everyone inside Cross Academy. Both cousins looked at each other pretty confused and wondering what was going on. Moments later Ichijo ran very fast in front of their room, most probably looking for Kaname.
"I can't see anything though this window… that sound surely came from the other side of the building"
"Something tells me that it is not a good idea to go outside and find out what was that, Hanabusa. We better stay here"
"But what if…" Aidou was very nervous.
"Just look at that…" Akatsuki said while pointing at the door "Evidently it was something unexpected. Ichijo just wouldn't start running around like crazy for no reason, and this is the second time he passes by… but Kaname is not going with him, which means is nothing THAT important.
"Do you think is normal to hear a freaking chopper inside the campus?
"Who knows… do you think a school filled with vampires is normal?" Hanabusa wasn't able to answer to thad, and his face showed it "Ok, let's go to the living room and eventually Ichijo will have to come back, then we could ask him what happened. Besides, I'm not willing to suffer your anxiety at this hours."
About half an hour later Ichijo entered with a worried and tired look on his face. His expression was quite funny and it was even more after the two vampires in the living room saw what had happened.
"Aisha, I told you it wasn't a good idea to arrive at this time... and much less in a fucking chopper, you morron!"
"Well, you weren't complaining at all, besides you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. We made it to the school, right?" the blonde girl entered the Moon Dorm, carrying a suitcase and following Ichijo. Behind her, Rhoslyn entered too, holding a big shopping g bag in one of her hands.
"Girls… could you be quiet, please?...and what are you guys doing here?"
"We were worried after hearing the chopper and we were wanted to ask you what was going on…but is obvious that Hanabusa has some competition on breaking rules"
"Hey! Keep me out of this! Besides, my behavior is always according to the situation.
"Juridically speaking, what isn't forbidden is allowed" said Rhoslyn in her defense, making a serious face, like if she was about to give a professorship "and there is nothing inside bylaw referring directly to transportations or ways to arrive to school"
"Oh, there isn't?" a male and deep voice said from the second floor.
"Oh snaps…I think we're pretty much fu…." Aisha started to say
"Kaname! I suppose you'd like to have a word with the girls…" Ichijo went up the stairs while the two girls followed him, looking very gloomy.
The two vampires in the living room were only able to look at them passing by, ready to receive a good scolding.
-There surely isn't a boring day in this school
-I'm starting to think the same, Akatsuki.
The next day started earlier for Night Class. Some of them had to wake up early in order to be ready for the tutoring sessions starting at 5. The enrolled students were gathered in the main gate of the Moon Dorm, waiting for Kaname to go to the library. It wasn't such a big group, so it would be easy for the prefects to keep the Day Class at bay… even with the punishment given by the pureblood.
"When Kaname-san said that we were supposed to carry his books and Ichijo's, I had a very different picture in my mind" said Rhoslyn very serious, listening to the laughter behind her.
"Is not funny Avriell! " Aisha tried to look at her sister to send her a harsh glare, but it was pretty much impossible with all the books she was carrying.
"Like… is so embarrassing to have a sister who's a dogsbody… "
"For your information, there are people who actually read books…"
"Well, yes… but I don't see a reason to bring the whole manga collection to class" Rhoslyn was juggling with the book she carried "Damn! And I still have to make an exposition for Yagari's class…I woke up with the wrong foot…that guy hates me!"
"Oh… right !but I'm pretty sure he hates everyone… you should have seen the scolding he gave Aidou when he started to be complain about his lost stuff"
"Really? What happened?" Rhoslyn tryed to speak with an innocent voice.
"Actually, it was a piece of the broken window… and he didn't stop calling it his treasure. Then Akatsuki told me why…and then everything he lost was found in the gardens. How odd.
"Treasures? And here I was thinking I was doing him a favor by throuwing away the garbage…" Aisha looked at her friend very surprised "what?... it was so tempting, all his stuff in front of me… I just had to throw out his stuff…
"So, it was you?!" Aidou started to yell, very angry "Rhoslyn!"
"And just where did you come from? Were you spying on us?"
"Shut up! How dare you throw out my things… you're gonna pay for this…" his aura became red, and it got worse when Akatsuki laughed next to him.
"So, that's why Yagari sensei got mad! I have to admit, throwing things out the window like that is something I would have never thought" Akatsuki kept laughing and a little while after that they arrived to the library, meeting the headmaster in the front door.
"Welcome, everybody! Come on in!" Kaien Cross was standing there, next to the door. There weren't many Day Class students around the place, which was rather unexpected, but still la good thing. The vampires entered, Ichijo already carrying his own books and Rhoslyn ready to leave" "Rhoslyn! What a second please... I know you won't participate in the tutoring sessions, but I was poing you could help us out with the patrols during that time. Professor Yagari will be patrolling too"
"Just my luck… ok sir!" the girl approached him with a frown on her face while the teacher made a sign so she would hurry up.
