A/N: Been a while since my last update, again uni has been super stressful for me so I don't get as much time to write. Decided to update today however, because it is my birthday and I gave myself a bit of time to relax and just focus on things that I enjoy doing (writing stories). I won't prolong this, so enjoy!

Brittany jolted awake, feeling her heart rate pulse quickly. She calmed her fast breathing as she looked around her. She was back in her makeshift hay bed. It felt as If she had just woken up for the first time that day.

Wait did she even wake up at all today? Maybe that whole thing was a dream. Or maybe she had to stop convincing herself that everything she experiences nowadays is a dream.

She looked down at her right arm and her eyes grew alarmed at what she saw. The purple had gotten more brighter and now wasn't as subtle as it was before. The glow had also now gone up a few inches, almost up to her elbow and was pulsing slightly.

It scared her to think that this infection was slowly draining the life away from her. She didn't really feel any different, but the pain that she experienced from it said otherwise.

"Brittany! Oh thank god you're awake!" Jeanette cried as her sisters rushed to her side.

"How long was I passed out?" Yea, what happened to her really wasn't a dream if her sisters were this concerned over her now.

"Only an hour, we thought you would be gone longer. We were so scared, we didn't know what was going on. Your little episodes are getting a lot worse from when you first started having them." Eleanor spoke up glancing back at Theodore and Simon, who were quietly talking amongst themselves.

Just like brunch, there was no sight of Alvin. She mentally shrugged, maybe it was normal for him to not always be around.

It stayed like that for a while, her sister's right by her side and chattering away while the boys were stationed more than 10 metres away from them and were quietly talking amongst themselves. Brittany sighed and tried to get up to which both of her sister's grabbed one arm and helped her up.

She was starting to get somewhat irritated with how they were babying her around. She wasn't a baby and certainly wasn't going to be treated like a porcelain doll that might break any second now.

"Girls, I'm fine. I can walk on my own thank you." Jeanette and Eleanor both glanced at each other looking somewhat reluctant before they finally let go of her arms.

"I guess I'll go over and let Theodore and Simon know that you're fine now and that we could get going soon." Eleanor said before she walked away, glancing back at Jeanette and Brittany while giving her bespectacled sister a pointed look.

Jeanette took a deep breath in before looking at Brittany "Look Brittany, I'm sorry. It wasn't right for me to have kept everything away from you guys. I should've told you sooner. I just don't want you to stay angry at me forever. I miss my older sister."

Brittany shook her head and put her hands on her younger sister's shoulders "Jeanette sweetie, It's okay. I'm sorry for staying mad at you for so long. I understand that it wasn't your fault."

"So we're good now?" Her younger sister looked up at her with her dark blue eyes, glimmering with hope.

Brittany hugged her sister in response before quietly speaking "Yes, we're good." She smiled feeling some weight being lifted off her shoulders. In all honesty she hated arguing with her sisters and didn't like how distant she and Jeanette had grown after the past few days.

After breaking up the hug, both girls looked towards Theodore, Simon and Eleanor approaching them.

"So, we'll be heading off on foot from here on." Simon stated looking at a map that he had in his hands.

"By foot? Didn't you come here by car? It'd be a lot faster to lose track of that beast thing chasing me, remember?" Brittany sassed, tapping her foot on the ground.

"Faster? Yes it would be, but the route we need to take can't be reached by car. It isn't that far of a walk. There's a waterfall nearby. There's a secret route hidden within the rocks that will take us into the magic realm. Of course, normal humans can't enter this route as they don't have any magical blood within them.

Brittany was somewhat shocked to hear this information. There was another realm and they were going to enter it soon? She wondered how it looked like. Ooo, maybe they'd have some pretty new clothes that she might be able to get her hands on soon.

After a few more minutes of Simon explaining the route they were taking (which was completely boring to Brittany, she had no idea why her sisters were so intrigued with what he was saying) they finally packed a few bags filled with their belongings and headed out.

They were walking for about 10 minutes now with Simon leading the group and Jeanette right next to him, to which they were animatedly talking about who knows what. Theodore and Eleanor were shortly behind them and Brittany trailed behind quietly.

She felt like the fifth wheel when she was walking beside them so she decided to just stick to the back. There was still no sign of Alvin. She didn't know what his problem was but she couldn't care less. The guy irked her and she disliked him. She didn't know why but she just didn't like him. She did appreciate his good looks though, she understood the effort of maintaining oneself.

Bored and now starting to feel sluggish from the endless amount of walking, Brittany suddenly had an idea. She pulled out her camera from her bag and started looking around at her surroundings to see what she should take a photo of.

She was seeing some really pretty flowers and started taking photos of them. She found a particularly interesting bunch of red, sparkling flowers that radiated like rubies when the small rays of the setting sun touched them. She awed at the brilliance of the colours, somewhat losing track of the group and quickly snapped some photos.

She opened up her gallery and looked at the photos and was completely confused when she saw some bright, vivid purple flowers behind the red ones that she had snapped a photo of. She looked up at the scenery that was void of any purple flowers.

"Her heart beat accelerated as she was starting to become more and more scared that this had something to do with her infection.

"Relax, they're magical flowers. The reason why you can't actually see them is because they have an enchantment on them that keeps them from being seen to the naked eye. No ordinary camera can usually pick it up but I guess your one was equipped by a mage."

Brittany jumped at the sound and looked to her side where she noticed Alvin looking over at the camera in her hands. "It actually might come in really useful for you in the magic realm. Can help you detect dangers if you know how to use it properly."

Brittany blinked and looked down at the camera in her hand, she had gotten this camera on her thirteenth birthday. It was her last gift from her parents before they had passed due to a tragic accident, they had been brutally murdered one night while the girls were at their aunt's house.

Brittany shook her head, ridding herself of those thoughts and then closed her camera, putting it back into her bag. She finally looked straight ahead and noticed that her sisters and the other two brothers were nowhere to be seen.

"You really shouldn't get caught up behind everyone else. It can be extremely dangerous out here. Especially in the magic realm." Alvin spoke softly, motioning his head so that she could continue walking.

"I didn't realise that I had lost track of them, I blame you for interrupting me and making me focus on these flowers." Brittany huffed not looking in his direction.

Alvin rolled his eyes at this, slightly irritated with the girl. She acts like she's the queen of everything some times. He had no idea how her sisters managed to put up with her "Just keep walking." He groaned and thankfully she hurried her steps and was soon a few metres up ahead of him.

Alvin purposely stayed a few metres behind Brittany. He didn't like getting too close to her after what had happened earlier during their training. He wasn't sure what exactly went wrong, he had locked away all his magic and energy so that it would not affect the girls during training but somehow it still happened.

It was weird. He had never had this problem before when training his brothers. He had even helped demonstrate a few tricks with Eleanor and Jeanette prior to Brittany. He shook his head and looked at the girl in front of him who was avoiding any rocks, twigs, branches or insects in her way. Boy was this going to be a long trip that he was not looking forward to.
