We are young chapter 7

Well I've been gone awhile haven't I? I'm so incredibly deeply horrifically sorry that I haven't written in over a year and I'm hoping I can try and get it back again. I want to keep working on this and my "Chuck vs New Directions story (the story may not be that good but the writer is awesome in my opinion ;p). I'm also working on a Gossip Girl story so there should be a lot uploaded in the coming year. Hopefully.

"Anybody going to football try outs?" Finn asked as he, Blaine, Puck and Kurt walked out the mandatory basic geometry class they had just attended. It was a few weeks after they had been accepted to the Adams apples and they were almost used to the new routines they had come up with shortly after meeting. The Blainchel apartment, along with the Starbucks on campus and callbacks an awesome bar Kurt had found that was just for NYADA students, was the main place where they all hung out and someone slept over almost every night. Mostly it was Puck or Santana as they drank the most and were therefore not trusted to cope with the outside world without getting injured, arrested or both. Due to their large friendship group and similar interests they were always in a class with people they knew.

Blaine replied "umm maybe, I dunno. I've never played for a team before I usually just watch it. What about you guys?" They all nodded and Blaine looked round at Kurt with a confused expression. "Even you Kurt?" Kurt gave a mock offended look and said "Of course! I'm the only reason McKinley won a football game sophomore year. I was the team kicker and I intend to be here as well."

Glee club met nearly every lunchtime and a few days after school. Rachel was always first to arrive and the last one to leave. She put as much into the glee club here as she had back at Carmel. As she was sorting out the sheet music for the song she wanted to perform, Brody came into the auditorium and sat down next to her. "Hey Brody how are you?" Rachel asked with a polite smile, still sorting through her music. "I'm perfect Rachel. Perfect. What are you working on?" she held up the paper, revealing 'glitter in the air' by Pink. "Now as awesome as you would sound singing this, don't you want to branch out a bit and do something that isn't a slow love ballad?" Rachel looked at him with confusion. "Rachel, you are so talented. Probably the most talented person I know. I just think that maybe doing something different would benefit us all." Rachel thought for a moment and recounted all the solos she had done in glee club so far. They hadn't all been heartfelt love songs directed at Blaine, had they? She stood up, grabbed Brody's hand and dragged him to the piano. "What did you have in mind?"

"But why? Why can't I star in your movie and be the make-up and costume and help write the script and sing all the songs on the soundtrack?" Sugar cried at Artie as Rachel walked into her musical theory class. They were sat in their usual seats and Sugar had a pouty face and her arms crossed. "Because it's my film! I want everything to be perfect and I want it to be my vision of perfect not yours!" Artie replied. Rachel sat down as Sugar got up and left. "Is she allowed to do that?" Rachel asked as she watched her slam the door. "Listen Rachel, you'll quickly learn while sitting with us that Sugar does whatever she wants and I'm usually the one who deals with the consequences." Artie said bitterly and faced the front of the room. Mr Schue walked in just as the final bell went. He put down his bag and coffee and wrote the day's topic of discussion on the board. "Insecurity", he carried on speaking as he turned around to face his class. "This is the basis for a lot of the songs that are your top played right now." He put his pen down and sat on his desk. "All of us, whether we admit it or not, are insecure about something we are or we have done. Your assignment is simple. I am going to email you all different scenarios that have something to do with the theme of insecurity's. They won't be personal but I expect you to go about them from a personal point of view. You are going to create a presentation, choosing a song that relates to your scenario and why you have chosen it. You should also make links to other songs and for extra marks you can come up with a solution and how music can relate to that as well. Now although this is theory of music, I would be very impressed with any material items that can help you explain your point. This will be your first graded piece in music theory so try you best. If you open your email, your scenario should be there. You have three weeks. Good luck"

That day after classes had finished, the Adams apples met in the auditorium. "Hello apples, we will start todays practice soon but first Rachel and Brody have a song that they thing could edge things up for us at our competition next month. "Oh hell to the no!" Mercedes cried as she stood up to face Adam. "Is there a problem Mercedes?" he asked in a firm voice but his facial expression showed the group that he was slightly scared by her dramatic outburst. "Problem? Problem? Hell yeah there's a problem." She said pointing her finger at him, "you aren't seriously springing a competition onto us with only a months' notice, are you? I mean you better not be because if you are then we are gonna to have some problems white boy." Adam sat down in his seat, mouth slightly open and looking like he might cry. Melissa sensed this and stood up, a hand on Adams shoulder. "Yes we have a competition next month. Yes Adam should have told you before now. And yes maybe this competition could determine whether or not we have any funding next semester." To this last sentence Melissa was met with looks of shock and a chorus of disapproval. Her voice shouting over the complaints, she said" which is all the more reason why we need to start practicing and coming up with a set list instead of arguing." Both she and Mercedes sat down as Brody stood up and extended his arm to Rachel. "Let's do the number"

The opening bars to "A change would do you good" rang out as Brody and Rachel came on stage. Blaine sat up in his seat. Why hadn't she told him about her duet? She said she had been working on a number but she hadn't even mentioned Brody. Why? They started an elaborate dance routine as Rachel sang the opening lines of the song. As the song progressed, Blaine became more and more uncomfortable with the sexually charged moves they were doing. When the song ended he gave a small but polite clap and didn't join in with the cheering the rest of the group had started. Adam, having regained his confidence throughout the number, stood up and praised them both. "Fantastic and a definite contender for competition. Who knows maybe you two could do this as our big duet? We'll see. Either way well done to you both" The group applauded in agreement. It seemed that Blaine was the only one who didn't think it was a good idea. After all Rachel was his duet partner and always had been. She had only ever sang duets with Jesse St James back at Carmel and that had ended with her slapping him across the face and not speaking to him since. He would just have to do a duet with Rachel in front of the group and show them all that he was the best partner for Rachel, not Brody.
