Evening came faster than the starlight. Mira learned that Tiu Sin was 18 years old and was helping her parents run the fabric shop. Her payment for working the summer was a higher education at the School for Earth Benders. She learned that the founder of the Earth Academy has asked their name be kept secret until they die. They didn't want any recognition for the school. Mira also learned Tiu Sin strived to become a Metal-Bender and join the Police Force, but fear held her back. This would not be the last time Mira visited the flower shop, for she promised come back.
The girl's, Mira and Tiu Sin found a wonderful mattress that soothed ones back whilst they rest. The feathers come from the Turkey Duck, besides the matress, Mira bought sheets to match the Earth Nation green and a lighter yellow curtain to cover the window. She found a shaggy carpet that felt like grass and an assortment of colors paint. Tiu Sin showed Mira a unique paint that was made for Earth Nation Families. It has an Element of the Earth in which one can bend upon the walls, but once the paint dries, the earth element dissolves leaving the permanent color. It was a new invention by a man named Varrick. I know, the name didn't mean much to Mira either, but the paint was great!
Resting with a cup of tea, Mira set the kettle down and headed upstairs. Tiu Sin had just left after the deliveries and Mira easily refurnished her room. As you enter, the door sat a foot from the right wall. Her bed stayed opposite on the far left wall, surrounded by pillers of rock. The mattress sank into the small cave, much like a pool of water. The bed took on similarities of a bubble chair, however it had a full rock cover such as the rock caves of the mountains.
To the left and right of the bed, Mira plopped two small cherry birch dressers. Two Aspen trees find the corners of the walls adjacent to the bed. She found Bougainvillea, a vine with white and pink flowers and once grown will arch its way over the door. Tiu Sin also ordered a small green chair called The Cradle, perfect for Mira's Meditation. She designed this room after the Earth Nation room that her Mother owned. There is a picture of Mira's nursery hiding in a page of her journal, a green room, with beautiful artwork and plenty of trees and nature to sooth the Earthen needs, designed, by her mother.
The wall color started with a Sky Blue and as the color descended to the floor it changed from light blue to green to forest green. Her Yellow curtain emphasized the sunlight shining in and a tall mirror could be found bolted to the left of the door. Her dresser was painted black and a small lamp sat on top. In the corner straight ahead of the door she placed one more plant. This one a bonsai, only a shrub, but once it got bigger it would be her prize posession. Each of the trees didn't require too much care. Mira bought two wall assesories, a green poster with the Earth Symbol and a green poster with a Flying Boar, for Lin. She hung these both above her dresser because she knew there would be a perfect time to present her gift to Lin.
"What did you do!?" an explosion came ripping into the room. "There are plants! In my House! What are you thinking?"
"I decorated my room." she responded in a matter-of-fact manner. "You said it was my room. I get control of it."
"And this is my house! I say no!" she retorted, looking around. Her eyes widened, and Lin turned away.
"But this is my room Lin. You made the agreement, so if it is my room, I should be able to do whatever I want within these four walls."
"I say no and that's, that." The taller woman said quietly. "Please take it back. I ask you now, take it all away."
"Who do you think you are Lin? My Mother? God, it's not been 24 hours and you think you can control my life, just like everyone else. You know nothing about family do you? Or maybe you were too sour that nobody wanted you in their family. Explains why Tenzin left."
"That is none of your business!' Lin's eyes dilated, a savage look glinted upon Lin's face, "You were adopted! At least my Mother loved me!"
"No, that's not true! Bumi's my Father!" terrified, Mira choked, "Lin, no- my Mother died when I was young. I remember her."
"Flameo." Lin cussed. "Hate to break it to you kid, but both of your parents are dead now."
"Bumi wouldn't lie! Would he?" Mira looked up, tears were gathering in her eyes.
"No, Bumi doesn't lie, but sometimes he doesn't tell the whole truth." She looked at Mira, No emotion showed, as if she had gone numb. Didn't he mention anything about turning 18?"
The stare between the two women led to Lin conitinuing. "Mira, when you turn 18, I was supposed to bring you to your parents. When Bumi said, she died, he didn't lie. The woman you were with had been maimed by the Triad, so Bumi adopted you. Yakone and his men had found their way into Republic City and many people were evacuated from the area. They never made it. I was told to relocate you, and so I did. To Bumi."
"Why would he lie? Father never lies!" Murosha turned and ran out. "My life is all a lie. Lin, why do you have to ruin everything?"
Well that went smooth. First day of taking in a teen and she runs away. What would you say Mom? We weren't the easiest to raise were we? I guess I should go follow her. Maybe she will show me how you felt raising us. She has no idea how important her life is. If she only she knew. Lin walked to her room and sat down, just to rise again and run downstairs. If only she knew.
"When are we going?" Murosha begged, her black hair trimmed to keep the long strands off her neck.
"When everything is ready! You are just as bad as Ikki!" Tenzin said, looking at his niece. "Why are you here so early? Where's Lin? What happened?"
"Nothing. I don't know. It doesn't matter." she sighed, heading to her dufflebag. Inside sat her few possessions. Two outfits, shoes, a simple necklace she usually wore, except a new one took its place. She had two journals, and some special ink. From there she had two headbands and a green overcoat for winter or for the Water Nations. She didn't own much else, but she didn't need to. There was so much that she learned to get from the earth around her.
And Mira hid. She hid high in a Grand Fir, and she felt tranquil. Her life held meaning with the Earth and nature. It was there she felt closer to her Mother even though it was the same Earth who took her.
Dearest Mother, am I , really worthy enough to be here? In the presence of the last Air-benders, the Avatar, and in the City of Hope? I feel so lost, Mother, and I know you can't do much now that you are gone, but we are connected, and I will always love you.
As the evening rolled around people came gathering with what they owned, preparing for the two week journey north.
"Mako! Bolin! You guys made it! I am so glad you could come!" Korra shouted, running up to the brothers.
"Hey Korra. I am glad we could make it too" Mako said quietly.
"Of course we would make it!" Bolin yelled. "You're the Avatar and our best friend! We wouldn't miss it if the world ended!"
"I wouldn't either," said the quiet girl coming up from a huge metal ship. "I hope I can repay some of the damage my Father caused. I know it isn't much, but I hope it helps."
"Thank you Asami! You guys are the best friends any Avatar could have!" She laughed hugging the three.
"Mira you can come out." Korra called to the trees. So Mira flipped off the branches, landing softly on her toes, and hardly causing a sound she walked calmly to the group.
"Hi. I hope you didn't think I was eavesdropping."
"No, I don't expect that. What were you doing up there?" The Avatar asked.
"Hiding." The light brown eyed girl said, scanning the gazes of the people around her. "From Lin."
Mira cracked a small smile. a giggle escaped. "I'm ridiculous aren't I?"
"No, Lin is." Bolin replied punching Mira. "Don't worry about that Hag! You wanna come with us to the North Pole?"
"I have to, Lin's orders." Mira found deep interest in the ground and glanced back up. "I've never met so many people my age. I hope I don't act too weird. I just don't want to mess up my first chance of having friends."
"I want to be your friend!" Bolin erupted, "So does Pabu, right Pabu? You want to be Murosha's friend?"
So as Bolin continued to coo over Pabu, Korra and Asami happily greeted the new girl into the circle.
"We would love to."Asami said.
"Yes, it would be my honor." Korra stated after.
"No, Korra, it would be my honor to serve you the best I can. I may not be the best bender, but I can fight. And hide." she smirked.
"Awesome. Now let's pack up before Beifong arrives. I don't know what she did to you, but any sane person knows you wouldn't cause extra mischief." Korra said.
"Like Korra?" Mira guessed. They all laughed, even Korra who held an annoyed look. "Sorry, I should go before Lin arrives. I don't want to bump into her quite yet."
"What has she done?" Korra asked.
"More than you know." More than I realize. Mira whispered quietly. The sadness in her voice crept in before she knew it, Mira turned and ran. Tears came faster than lightening, and the Grand Fir became her safe haven once again. Until she saw Lin.
I hope the plot twist was interesting! The time is moving slowly and we are just reaching the end of Season 1! I hope to try to write more and get to season three, but I have a lot to go. Keep Reading and message me suggestions! I love this show and I really don't want to butcher it, but I want to keep it interesting! Thank you! Thank you!
