hey guys!here is the latest chapter for the Gamer Effect. This one is a surprising one, as I didn't think anyone would try to write from this perspective! Anyways, I know I have been posting a chapter a day, but I want to remind you guys that most of these chapters belong to you guys! Thanks to you, this fic has become really interesting according to the Internet so let's keep it up! Also a little heads up for those who want Bazerker to continue to appear, don't worry he will. It's just going to take me some time to decide on what I want to do. Anyways, enjoy the new chapter!
Tevos was slowly coming to her senses.
The thing that visited Citadel only few minutes ago has turned her world upside down without much effort. Oh, how she wished to be at Tessia right now, drinking her Tessian Blue and never hear about humanity once again. But she had her duty.
So... Humanity. Should be capable of negotiation, but the way the only known human talked to Council and left was worthy of Krogan. He also mentioned that it is forth among humanity by military strength. It means that others might be calmer and less aggressive. But with 95% of population being military commanders I wouldn't expect them being peaceful, and we might have encountered most diplomatic and clever one. Actually how large their population is? If they are not colonizing worlds, I doubt they have much population. It is entirely possible that there are a dozen or so commanders fighting over clusters of stars.
Tevos's mind immediately conjured picture of insanely huge armies fighting over solar systems. She definitely needs her Tessian Blue.
Sparatus may be an idiot as long he pleases, and look only at the potential military power of the enemy. But even he agreed that this Humanity was more dangerous then Rahni even if they potentially have only few dozens living individuals. Only his reasons were on wrong places - Humanity was dangerous, but not because of military might.
Epsheel and the Salarians can live amidst reports from predeployed satellites for clues to new technologies for all she cares. But it won't really matter in long run if what she saw and heard was correct.
No. The biggest problem was creature's words about immortality.
Immortality! For God's sake.
It was a sacrilege towards Asari's religion, a threat to Asari way of life and culture. More importantly it was almost certain death for Asari diplomatic influence and value as most wise and experienced race if those humans ever shared their technology or decided to play diplomats. She saw it in creature's eyes, it was experienced, it was old it might have even been wise if not for the sheer amount of rage it was expressing. It was a frightening thought, but that human was not lying.
The also was a problem of Asari's nature. Asari as a race were slowly consuming other races. They are attractive to any other species, they can have spawns with other species, they usually have more then two children, their culture frowns upon pureblood Asari. In all, Asari are slowly converting population of other races into their own while masterfully covering it up. They were truly dangerous to almost all known races in galaxy, may be except Salarians and Krogans. First were not affected due to their way of thinking and biology while second are already in bigger danger.
And these Humans as immortals won't be simply eliminated, they might be wise enough to notice, they live long enough to see and feel, and is doubtful that they will like it.
And lastly in case of conflict, it will be very difficult to negotiate. Especially in the absence of government of mankind.
"Whatever actions we take, I should make sure that we are isolated from this humans for so long as possible, at least until I have a chance to discus it with matriarchs."
Sparatus took an audible breath trying to calm himself. It wouldn't do to act on emotions now.
Sparatus was a turian and so he knew when he was outclassed and outgunned. In fact all three of the council already accepted that they were technologically behind Humanity, so the thought of being powerless was easy one to accept. But the fact that Sparatus couldn't give head or tails about this creature's military powers, that they were far greater then those of turians was infuriating him. Not only thousands of turian lives were lost, but there were no way for him to avenge them.
Sparatus calmed himself once more.
'Was it possible to use Krogans once more?' If what he heard was true, these Humans were worth ten Krogan species, 95% of population being military commanders with fleets of their own. Is it possible to find and capture weaker commander? 'Was weaker even a word he could use to this species.'
"I need time. Whatever actions we take now, they should be neutral towards humans. I should try to get technical and recon support from salarians first. Get a*** of our own generals here and start planning counter action before any real combat actions. And finally drag scientists by their mandibles so that they will make us bigger guns and better counter measures."
Epsheel's mind was running at a speed of light.
He already predicted some thoughts of his colleagues and decided that Asari will be against any immediate actions and Turians might support light recon missions.
"That won't do. Technology gap enormous. Need much more recon data. Time of essence."
It was doubtful that old stealth ship design will work against superior technology. It will be waste of manpower.
First they needed to discover methods of safe data collection. Was it possible to provoke Batarians for this cause?
"Classical intel might be impossible. Population infiltration might be only option. For obvious reason disguise is in ord... Disguise?"
Now it hit him. Creature implied that it could look like it want, probably the reason it did not recognized Turians as living beings.
That was a problem. Provoking by Batarians might be still in order, but counter intelligence should be of higher priority.
"Whatever actions we take, I should make sure that we are isolated from these humans until we develop counter measures, except for our own intel missions, which are to be as safe as possible."
and that's it for today! What did you guys think? This is on of the most interesting ideas I have ever seen concerning the Asari, so I want your opinions. bye everybody!
