Here's Chapter 7 of The Legend of Sheik! Enjoy!

Sheik awoke the next morning to the sound of the Princess yelling. He knew immediately she was having another argument with Impa. Sheik leapt out of bed and walked slowly into the living room.

"But I can hide permanently with this thing!" Zelda shouted to Impa. Impa stood in front of the Princess, her arms folded.

"We can't risk it, Princess." Impa responded. "We can't risk leaving the cave."

Sheik quickly formulated a plan and approached Enco.

"Father…" Sheik said, "I was wondering… if I could accompany you the next time you go into town."

Enco didn't respond, he shot a look to Sheena who simply nodded her head. Enco took a deep breath and finally spoke. "Sheik, your mother and I agree that it's finally time for you to leave the cave."

"Sheik can leave but I can't?!" Zelda shouted to Impa, throwing her hand to Sheik. Sheik made eye contact with Zelda, and Sheik gave her a quick wink. She knew he had an idea.

"Sheik is a capable young man, capable of handling himself. You're a princess. And Ganondorf is after you." Impa yelled.

Zelda, now pretending, tried to continue her fight. "But—"

"There are no buts in this situation, Zelda." Impa yelled. "I'll take you Desert Colossus, but we're not leaving the desert."

Zelda threw her hands down and ran off to her room, passing Sheik along the way, both of them sharing a glance. Sheik smiled beneath the white cloth.

"I'm planning on going into to Kakariko village this afternoon, Sheik. You can come with me now."

"Thank you, father." Sheik said calmly. Sheik turned around and returned to his room.

"Sheik!" Zelda whispered from her room, Sheik smiled and walked towards the Princess. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Yes, use the stone! I'll take it with me into town!" Sheik responded. Zelda smiled and clutched the stone in her hand, she took a deep breath and exhaled. The stone began to glow and in an instant Zelda vanished. The Gerudo Amber fell onto Zelda's bed faintly glowing. Sheik picked it up and clutched it in his hand.

I'm excited, Shiek! Zelda laughed. Sheik nodded in response. He then ran into his room and gathered his belongings into a small satchel, making sure to place the Gerudo Amber inside with the utmost care.

"Sheik!" Enco called from the living room, "I'm ready to leave!" Sheik's heart leapt with excitement and he bounded out of the room. When Sheik arrived in the living room, his father spoke again. "Are you ready?" Sheik nodded in response.

"Be careful," Sheena added before the two left the cave. Enco wrapped his arms around his wife and gave her a soft kiss.

"Don't worry, I'll keep our son safe."

Sheik followed his father out of the cave and into the winds of the haunted wastelands.

"Now!" Enco shouted over the winds, "Our biggest challenge will be sneaking past the Gerudo guards. But, if you put to use the training we've been working on, you won't have a problem!" Sheik simply nodded in response. His heart was racing, his father was taking him on a path he had never known. After walking for a while Sheik and his father came across a small stone building surrounded by large poles with red flags attached, violently flapping in the vicious wind.

"Now it's pretty easy from here." Enco shouted, "we just follow the flag poles to the entrance." Sheik nodded in response. Sheik followed his father who walked swiftly from one flag pole to the next. Soon Enco and Sheik were met with a large river of quicksand.

"How…" Sheik began to ask, but his father answered his question by leaping high into the air and soaring to the other side, landing gracefully in the sand.

"Jump, Sheik!" Enco yelled. Sheik nodded and crouched on the ground. He prepped himself, then shot straight into the air. Sheik aimed towards his father and dove to the other side of the river of sand. Enco stood with a smile as his son soared across the river of sand and landed next to him on the other side. "Great job, son. Now hurry up, we're almost out of here!" Sheik nodded again and followed his father out of the haunted wasteland. Soon the two were faced with a large gate.

"The Gerudo guards survey the area. Jumping across the buildings is the easiest way across, But you must be quick. Follow my lead." Enco looked away from his son and leapt up toward the cliff, clutched on the side briefly, then soared to the top of the Gerudo fortress. Sheik gulped then repeated his father's maneuvers, but with much less grace. Sheik still managed to land on top the Gerudo fortress.

"Great job, son. We're almost to the end. Let's keep going." Enco moved across the top of the Gerudo fortress with great stealth, which his son tried to emulate. Soon they reached the other side of the fortress and he leapt over the large rock and reached the other section of Gerduo valley. There was a large chasm, which a waterfall was flowing water into; and a small bridge was guarded by Gerudo woman. Enco and Sheik, who were placed high above the valley on the rock, looked down at them.

Enco was speaking, but Sheik had a hard time listening. The water far below was mesmerising to him, this was the first time he had ever left the desert, and so this was the first time his eyes had saw running water. Of course it wasn't the first time he'd ever seen water. His parents would always bring home buckets of water for them to drink, but th large waterfall was like nothing he had ever seen. Sheik smiled, then cleared his head and focused back on his father who was still talking.

"Avoid the bridge and leap over the chasm, then we'll be out in Hyrule field!" Enco said excitedly. Sheik watched his father jump over the large chasm, and followed eagerly. The two finally made it out of the Gerudo valley and for the first time, Sheik smelt the smell of grass.

Hyrule field was amazing, everything felt so fresh and alive. It was so different from the desert. Sheik knelt down and ran his fingers through the grass and smiled.

"Father…" Sheik said quietly, looking up from the ground. "Thank you so much for letting me come with you. This is amazing." Sheik stood up and took in the environment around him. The birds were chirping in the trees, the clouds rolled across the sky, which created shade from the sun's rays. The soft wind blew across his face, which was warm and comforting, and free from traces of sand. Enco continued walking, Sheik followed but his mind was observing the fresh new environment. There were flowers, bushes, trees, and even new enemies that were not leevers. Sheik attentively listened to his father as he showed Sheik the many things to see in Hyrule field. The Zora river, Death mountain in the distance, the Lon Lon Ranch, and even Hyrule castle.

"But things are not well there, Sheik." Enco said pointing to the north. Sheik observed a large ominous cloud surrounding the area.

"Ganondorf…" Sheik said. Enco looked at his son. "The Princess told me about him."

"We'll be safe in Kakariko Village, though. Don't worry. The Sheikah used to live there. The grave of our ancestors can be found there." Enco stated. Sheik nodded. "The village is right over there, it won't be long until we reach it."

The two approached the village and Sheik smiled as they walked into Kakariko village. The large spinning windmill caught his attention first. There were many small buildings around the village. A small shop and quite a few houses, there were many people and wildlife moving throughout the village.

"Son, go ahead and explore. I'll stop by the shop. Please don't leave the village." Enco stated with a warm smile.

"Yes, father." Sheik responded.

Sheik, Zelda's voice flooded Sheik's brain. Let's go to the graveyard. I just know something of importance is there, I can feel it! Sheik nodded.

"I want to go to the graveyard, father." Sheik said to his father, who nodded before they parted ways.

Remember the Legend of the Temples? Zelda asked, One of the temples mentioned was "in the house of the dead." We might be able to find another silver tile there. Since we found the requiem of spirit near "the goddess of the sand," I bet we can find another song there.

"Princess, I bet your right," Sheik said quietly and hurried off through the stone arch leading to the graveyard. As they walked into the grave small drops of rain hit Sheik's face. For the first time he felt rain, and smiled once again.

Sheik stood in the middle of the graveyard and looked around, heavily surveying the area before saying anything. "There is no one around, Princess. It's safe to come out."

Sheik pulled the stone out of his bag and placed it on the ground, it began glowing and soon the Princess was standing in front of Sheik.

"Impa's going to kill me if she finds out I left the cave!" Zelda said with a giggle. She dropped to her knees and ran her fingers through the grass. "It feels so good to be out of the desert and see and feel the grass again!" Sheik smiled at the Princess as she stood up. "And the rain! Oh! It feels wonderful on my skin!" Zelda threw her head up and outstretched her hands. Sheik smiled and oustreached his arms as well.

The two giggled for a few moments, enjoying the light drizzle on their skin. Sheik lowered his arms after awhile and spoke.

"We should probably start searching for that silver tile. I don't know how long until my father returns."

Zelda nodded and the two surveyed the area even more.

Sheik sighed, "I don't see a silver tile around here, Princess."

"Perhaps there is a different graveyard?" Zelda responded and continued to glance around the area, this time something caught her eye. "Wait!" Zelda shouted, "what about up there on that ledge?" Sheik nodded and approached it, followed by Zelda. Sheik jumped up to the ledge and Zelda closed her eyes to focus her magic. In an instant she vanished then reappeared several feet above the ledge and crashed to the ground, Sheik rushed to her aid.

"Ouch…" Zelda groaned, while Sheik helped her up.

"Are you alright, Princess?" Sheik asked.

Zelda dusted herself off, "Yes, I just can't seem to get the hang of teleportation magic." Zelda looked down and screamed in excitement when she realized what she was standing on. "Oh! We found it!"

"Yes!" Responded Sheik, "There's another song etched into the side of this one." Sheik knelt down beside the tile. "This one reads, The Nocturne of Shadow." Sheik looked to Zelda in excitement, "This is another one! We're finding them, Zelda! Finally!"

"Play it Sheik!" Zelda urged. Sheik nodded his head and pulled out his harp.

Sheik studied the music etched into the silver tile, then shot the Princess a slightly confused look.

"What is it?" Zelda asked.

"This song is 7 bars long in 4/4 time, which isn't what puzzles me. See... as the name suggests it should end in minor I, or a half cadence. But this one is unusual for a nocturne as it ends in a major I cadence."

"Okay," Zelda said impatiently. "Just play the song!"

Sheik shook his head and focused on the more important issue. He smiled and held up his harp and began to pluck the notes etched into the side of the silver tile. Once the song finished the familiar voice whispered in the air.

Warp to the Graveyard? The voice asked.

Sheik looked to Zelda who nodded. Sheik responded "Yes!"

Suddenly purple sparkles surrounded Sheik and Zelda and they felt themselves fly into the air, only to return back to the graveyard, standing on the silver tile.

"It worked!" Zelda shouted excitedly.

Sheik held up his harp again. "I want to try something, Princess. You stay here."

"All right," Zelda said and stepped off of the tile. Sheik smiled and began to pluck the notes of the Requiem of Spirit. Zelda watched as Sheik responded to the whispering voices, and was swept away with orange sparkles of light.

Sheik felt himself being lifted into the air and he quickly felt himself descending to the ground. When Sheik felt solid ground he observed his surroundings and felt the harsh dry sun beaming on his skin and the familiar air of the sand-filled wind. Sheik smiled as he noticed he was back at the Desert Colossus. The leevers began rustling in the sand, and Sheik quickly plucked the notes of the Nocturne of Shadow. He was surrounded by purple light, and was swept away.

Zelda smiled as she noticed the purple balls of light fly down to the silver tile and Sheik materialized in front of her.

"Sheik! Do you know what this means?" Zelda asked excitedly. Sheik shook his head as he put his harp away. "This is how we can sneak out of the cave! We can use this song to leave and explore the rest of Hyrule."

"Do you think that's a good idea? Mom, Dad, and Impa…"

"Sheik, we can't live under their constant supervision. If we want to save Hyrule, we have to break away from them."

There was a small silence before Sheik spoke again. Sheik nodded, "You're right."

The sound of a stick snapping downward jolted Zelda and Sheik's attention back to the graveyard.

"What're you kids doin' up there?" An old bald man asked. Sheik moved in front of Zelda and extended an arm to protect her.

"Who are you?" Sheik demanded.

"Dampé, the grave keeper. Y'all are in my graveyard. What're you doin' up there?" Dampé asked again.

Sheik looked to Zelda, then looked back to Dampé. "Nothing."

"Well then why don't cha' come on down from there?" Dampé said.

"I don't sense any danger around him, Sheik." Zelda whispered. "I think it's okay." Sheik nodded and scooped the Princess in his arms then leapt gracefully from the ledge and landed next to Dampé on the ground. Sheik placed Zelda on the ground and the two stood up in front of Dampé.

"Why, your highness." Dampé said as he stumbled back in excitment, then bowed in front of Zelda. "I didn't know it was you 'dat was up there! Forgive me if I was being rude."

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Dampé." Zelda said with a curtsey.

"And who is this strapping young lad." Dampé asked. He saw the Sheikah symbol on Sheik's chest. "A member of the Sheikah tribe. Well I thought all of them were dead and gone."

Sheik smiled, "Not quite."

"Well I've been looking after your ancestors since I was your age. Making sure they're all resting peacefully." Dampé said. He turned to Zelda "And, of course, I respect the grave of the Royal Family."

Zelda and Sheik glanced at each other and smiled.

"What don't 'chu Young'un's come on back to my little ole' shack. I just made some Deku Shrub tea."

"Tea sounds wonderful!" Zelda said with a smile. Dampé offered his arm and Zelda gladly took it and walked with Dampé to his small shack at the front of the grave, followed by Sheik.

The three walked into the shack.

"Sit down there on the bed!" Dampé said. Sheik and Zelda nodded and did as the grave keeper asked. "Now it ain't much, but it's home."

"It's lovely, Dampé." Zelda said with a smile.

"Here's some of my famous tea." Dampé said offering both Sheik and Zelda a cup. They both took a sip then exchanged shocked looks and tried to stifle their coughs. In order to be kind to their host they both tried to hide the fact that it was the absolute worst tea they've ever tasted.

"Do ya like it?" Dampé asked with a smile.

"It's wonderful." Zelda lied. Sheik simply nodded.

"You don' talk much, boy." Dampé directed to Sheik.

"Sorry, sir." Sheik responded. "I don't have much to talk about."

"Not a man of many words, I see. Nuffin' wrong with that, I suppose." Dampé smiled again.

"Dampé, do you mind if we ask you something…" Zelda said.

"No, ma'am. Go right ahead."

"Can you tell us about Ganondorf, and what's been going on?" Zelda asked.

Dampé's face fell and fear overtook him. "Your highness, ever since you fled the castle, The Dark Lord has been destroying the land of Hyrule. I've done heard he's awakening terrifying monsters and is trying to remove the land of our native species, the Kokiri, the Goron's, the Zora's… Everyone! It's not safe anywhere, anymore, Princess… We sit and wait here in the village. For right now it's considered safe, but we never know when the King of Evil will actually strike."

"You mentioned terrifying monster's, what monsters are you talking about?" Zelda asked.

"Well, so far I've heard rumors of Ganondorf resurrectin' the dragon, Volvagia." Dampé said. Zelda and Sheik stared at the grave keeper, seeking more information. "Volvagia is 'dat ancient dragon 'dat feasts on the Goron's. Ganondorf's plan is to bring the creature back to life and use it to rid the land of Goron's."

"That's terrible!" Zelda shouted.

Dampé nodded and continued sipping his tea. "It's only a matter of time until all of Hyrule falls into darkness."

There was voice from outside of the shack.

"Sheik!" the distant cry of Enco yelled.

"Thank you for hospitality, Dampé." Zelda said with a smile, but with extreme urgency in her voice, "but I'm afraid we have to go. Perhaps we will see you again."

Dampé nodded and smiled, "It was a pleasure to meet ya, your highness, and Sheik."

Sheik nodded as Zelda gripped the Gerudo Amber and vanished. Sheik collected the stone and placed it in his satchel.

Dampé stared in amazement at what took place in front of him, and remained speechless.

"Goodbye, Dampé." Sheik said with a smile and quickly left the shack.

"Sheik! There you are!" Enco said with a smile. "What were you doing in there?"

"Visiting, the grave keeper, father." Sheik responded. "He told me some upsetting news. Did you know Ganondorf's planning on resurrecting a dangerous dragon?"

"Yes, son…" Enco responded. "Ganondorf is more powerful than any of us can imagine. But let's head home. There's no use dwelling on what we cannot change."

Sheik began to follow his father out of the grave. He stopped and gulped. He had decided he wanted to show his father what he had been working on.

"Sheik?" Enco asked, "What is it?"

"Father, I want to show you something." Sheik said as he pulled out his harp. "I can get us home much faster." Enco squinted his eyes in confusion. But Sheik didn't explain. He simply plucked the notes of the Requiem of Spirit.

Enco's eyes widened in surprise as a voice whispered Warp to the Desert Colossus?

"Yes!" Sheik responded, and orange balls of light swept Sheik and his father away. Soon the light carried them down to the silver tile at the Desert Colossus. Enco shouted in surprise.

"Sheik! Son! How'd you- What just? ... Wow!" Enco shouted excitedly.

"They're called warp songs, father. Zelda and I learned this one yesterday." Sheik explained.

"That's amazing. Do you know anymore?" Enco inquired.

"No." Sheik lied.

"That's a pity, you could get us back to town much quicker." Enco said with a laugh. "Now come on, let's head on home." Sheik nodded and followed his father back to the cave.

When they reached the cave they were met with a very unhappy Impa and Sheena.

"Princess Zelda!" Impa shouted at Sheik. "Get your royal highness out of that stone right now!"

We've been caught, Zelda's voice echoed through Sheik's mind. Sheik's face went red, he knew they were both in deep trouble.

There was a sudden flash of light from Sheik's satchel and the princess emerged in a powerful burst of light.

"Sheik! You let the Princess go with us?" Enco yelled in anger.

"Yes, father." Sheik said with his head lowered.

"You know that our sole duty is to protect the royal family. You put her in danger by letting her leave this cave!" Enco yelled.

"I was safe the whole time!" Zelda shouted as she extended the spiritual stone. "No one could find me here."

"That doesn't matter, Princess." Impa shouted.

Flames sparked in Zelda's hands, "We can't stay in this cave forever, Impa! We'll die if we do. Ganondorf will destroy the land. Why can't you see that."

"I do, Princess." Impa stated, "but neither of you are ready to face the King of Evil. Neither of you can face the King of Evil. You and I both know Link is the only one who-"

Zelda closed her eyes and focused her energy and in a burst of green light vanished from the living room.

"Zelda!" Impa shouted, "Zelda! Where are you?"

"Sheik, I cannot believe you put the Princess in danger." Enco shouted.

"I'm sorry, father." Sheik said with his head lowered.

"Sorry doesn't cut it, Sheik." Enco shouted. "The princess could have been killed and it would have been entirely your fault."

"Enco…" Sheena muttered quietly.

"Do you understand me?" Enco yelled to his son. "I never want to hear of you helping the Princess leave this cave, ever again."

"Yes, father." Sheik said. Sheik lowered his head and walked slowly to his room. Princess Zelda was sitting on his bed with tears in her eyes.

"They don't understand, Sheik." Zelda cried. "If we sit here and do nothing, the land is doomed."

"I know, Princess." Sheik said as he wrapped his arms around Zelda. "I promised I would protect you, and I will not let any harm come to you. I promise you that." There was a long moment of silence before Sheik spoke again. "I want to escape from here again." He said again.

Zelda looked up to Sheik, "What?"

"You're right, Princess. We cannot stay in this cave forever, and my harp is our key to the outside world." There was another pause. "I just don't want to leave just yet, I think we should train more before we attempt to leave."

Zelda smiled. "I agree, Sheik. Thanks for understanding."

Sheik nodded and wrapped the Princess in a hug, the two friends smiled and held each other for the rest of the night.

So Sheik and Zelda learned a new song, and it sounds like they are wanting to get into more trouble. Check out what happens in Chapter 8!
