Chapter 7 – ABOMINATION PART 1
The following morning, I heard the alarm on my cell phone sound off alerting me to wake up for school and I groaned. Rolling over in place, I slammed my hand down and double clicked the lock button to shut up the annoying ringer. Sighing, I rolled onto my back and froze when I felt a warm body next to me. I bit my lip turning my head to see Derek sound asleep. His mouth was slightly open, his breaths coming out and in at an easy pace. He looked so normal for once. His hair wasn't very styled and slightly disheveled. I remembered exactly why it was and I blushed just slightly.
Last night was not just the usual making out we did in the past. No, this was way more. We went all the way and now it left me wondering exactly what was going to happen next? I wasn't going to push him about it but it just made me wonder…
Were we now just going to always have casual sex? Did him coming over to apologize mean anything or did he simply feel bad about being a dick? I know he's not the greatest at sharing feelings so I knew that him coming over and saying sorry was a big step.
Derek cleared his throat and turned onto his side facing me. I turned as well and slowly I brought my hand up to touch his cheek. Just before I got to though, I felt his fingers wrap around my wrist to stop me. He guided my hand down between us and then slipped his fingers through mine. I kept my eye on him but he still didn't open his. His thumb started to move, rubbing small circles on my skin.
"I have to get ready for school." I whispered.
"Don't." he mumbled.
I watched him as he opened one eye slowly to take a peek at me before closing it again. I smiled a little and got closer to him. "I'm sorry but I have to."
With his werewolf speed he had his arms around me and flipped us over so that he was hovering above me. While I was actually fully naked underneath the covers, I could feel the fabric of his boxer briefs. I looked up at him and brought my hand up to run it through his hair.
"Don't go today." He said seriously.
"Give me one good reason as to why not." I challenged.
"I could definitely give you… maybe demonstrate a few…" he smirked, leaning down to kiss my neck and I closed my eyes momentarily but snapped them back open and pushed his head up again.
"I'm serious." I said as seriously as I could.
He smiled and rolled his eyes, "Come with me."
"Where? To that smelly, gross…" I stopped when I saw a slightly disapproving look on his face and sighed. "For what?" I asked.
"Because I'm going to work those kids all day today, might as well see what I'm doing for yourself."
I contemplated not going to school for the day. I let my hands wrap around his neck and bit my lip. I was definitely not up to staying up this early and getting ready for the day just yet; also, I was a little sore from last night. I looked up and with a sigh I caved. He smiled.
"Just today. I'm going to have to tell my dad to call in."
Derek rolled off of me shaking his head, "He's not here."
"Where'd he go?" I asked, sitting up and wrapping the sheets around me.
"He never came. Don't worry though, I asked Scott if he heard anything and he told me he saw him with Stiles' dad last night."
Derek sat on the edge of the bed, his back to me as he bent down and slipped his jeans on. I stared at his tattoo on the center of his back. I was going to remember to ask him about it later. He stood and hopped once to fit into them correctly and I smiled, watching as he turned and I groaned. He looked up at me with a raised eyebrow and I gave him a look.
"You should be on the cover of GQ, just saying. 'Hottest Alpha of the Year' sounds catchy." I said as I leaned over and opened the bottom drawer to my nightstand, taking out some cute black underwear. I slipped them on under the covers and saw him head to my bathroom.
Standing up, I rushed over and picked up his shirt, slipping it on before he could when he got out. I checked the mirror on my dresser to see that I had a gross bruise on my cheek and a scratch. With a sigh, I turned.
"I'm going downstairs!" I called out as I left the room.
When I got to the kitchen, I turned the lights on and looked through the fridge. Taking out a carton of eggs, I set them out on the counter and opened the freezer to find a packet of bacon. What guy doesn't like bacon right? Setting that out as well, I put the bacon in the microwave to defrost and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Derek walk in the kitchen cautiously.
I turned and he looked at me and down at his shirt I was wearing and I shrugged.
"You're making breakfast?" he asked sounding very disbelieving.
I raised an eyebrow, "Yes. I'm making breakfast. I'm going to make a damn good breakfast and you're going to go take advantage of your free time and watch ESPN or something on the huge plasma in my living room, now go. I'm going to cook and I don't like being bothered when I'm cooking."
Derek's eyes widened slightly, looking a little amused but he only pursed his lips, hiding a smile and put his hands up in defense before turning to head to the living room across the kitchen. I smiled, a little with myself happy that he actually listened.
Around noon we had decided to head back to where Derek and his betas were living for the time being. I wasn't too happy going, but I figured skipping the day would be nice. I had already texted my dad to let him know I'd be home and he told me he'd be out most of the day anyways, to be safe.
As soon as we got there, Derek stepped in before me and I saw the familiar faces stare back at me shocked. Isaac looked pretty wary and Erica just glared. Boyd was standing somewhere behind them looking unsure. Derek cleared his throat.
"Erica, Boyd… say hi to Valerie." Derek said as he continued walking forward. Boyd gave me a small, unsure smile and Erica just crossed her arms.
Alright bitch, be that way then. You were the one that slapped me.
"I need you all to play nice with each other, no bullshit. You two," Derek said pointing at Isaac and Erica, "You both used more than enough excessive force yesterday and for that, you're training all day."
If she could, Erica would be shooting fire beams out of her eyes at me right now because that was the look she had on her face. Oh well, your fault. I sat down a few feet away from the group and watched as they began what to me was Survival 101 for Baby Betas.
A few hours later, I stepped out because I was getting bored. They were doing the same things over and over again and I could tell Derek was losing his temper slowly but surely. I went out to the hall and as soon as I found a spot where I got a bar of service, I dialed Stiles' number.
"Okay, where the hell are you? You haven't been answering any of your phone calls, I literally had to call my dad and then he tells me your dad told him that you weren't feeling well so you stayed home? You can NOT scare us like that Val, Scott even left during lunch to see if you were okay and you weren't even home!"
I rolled my eyes switching my cell phone from ear to ear and sighed, "Stiles, I'm okay. Okay? You're talking to me; I'm telling you I'm fine. I just… felt like going into town today."
"So why did Scott say he smelled Derek's scent literally everywhere?"
"Derek's scent? That's weird." I said as indifferently as I could.
"If there's something you're not-"
"Stiles! I'm fine! Oh hell no, there's this woman at 3 o'clock who's eyeing a dress I was just gonna go try on, gotta go, talk to you later!"
Hanging up the phone, I rubbed my forehead and sighed. Reason I never got any phone calls before was because my phone was off. The cell phone reception was crap inside this place and I didn't want to waste my battery. Walking back down the hall, I expected to see Derek pushing his baby werewolves around. They had been at it all afternoon. What I didn't expect to see, was Erica manhandling my man with her legs all wrapped around him slobbering all over his face.
"What the hell?" I frowned, walking up to them.
Derek had thrown her on the ground but that wasn't going to stop me from getting angry and defensive. Erica glared at me and stood up, getting right in my face. We were basically the same height so we were eye to eye and she smirked.
"What's wrong? Did that make you mad?" she asked, talking to me as if I were a child. "I can smell the both of you all over each other, it's disgusting…" She gripped my arm and I felt her claws digging into my skin slightly and I brought my knee up, reaching down into my boot and immediately taking out the electrocution stick.
I shoved it right against her and she fell back, immediately convulsing on the floor from the shock.
"Hey hey hey! That's enough!" Derek growled behind me. He grabbed the stick from my hand and threw it across the room. I looked at him with wide eyes. "No more! Stop taking that thing out of nowhere!"
"That's all I have to defend myself with! What is wrong with you!"
Isaac sat crouched down holding onto his wrist from a nasty break Derek had given him just before and coughed to hide a laugh. I glared at him and he frowned immediately. Looking again at Derek, he had turned his back and headed into the broken train.
"Valerie, come with me." He said.
I looked back at the three betas seeing Erica looking slightly terrified and just for a split second I regretted what I had done to her; only for a split second though because then I remembered what she did to me and that hurt. I followed where Derek had gone through and saw him sitting with his head in his hands.
"So, who kisses better?" I asked, sitting down next to him.
"Erica's too desperate." He answered after a moment, and I smiled despite what had just happened because I knew they could all hear that.
"You look stressed out." I frowned.
"Do I?" he asked sarcastically.
"Your back muscles are twitching…" I observed.
"I just… I need to figure out what the fuck is out there, someone else got hurt and it has to stop." He sighed.
I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket multiple times and I looked up ahead with wide eyes. I took it out and the screen lit up with 40 texts that I hadn't received before but since I momentarily stepped into a spot with reception, they came through. There were two from Allison, and even one from Matt asking if I was okay and that my friends were looking for me. The rest were from the boys. I unlocked my phone and started looking through the texts and I gasped, standing up.
"Stiles… I just got a text from him…" I said.
Derek looked up. "And?"
"And I think we might find out what it is that's out there."
"Why do you always have to make Stiles feel intimidated?"
I stared at Derek with my arms crossed as he drove to the high school and he didn't answer. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Fine, don't answer me. We made it to the school parking lot in no time from my house where we had just come from so Derek could change. I refused to go out with him unless he did. He smelled like sweat and dirt (not in a good way,) from that hellhole he was living in. While we were there though, he had gone over a full-proofed plan to make stiles fess up about what he saw last night while he was getting his Jeep fixed. Again. Thanks to Erica.
There was a game tonight and it should have been ending now. The parking lot was still fairly full so we parked the furthest we could away from the crowd. While we walked to the school, Derek had called Erica to go look for Stiles to talk. I figured we should go to the pool area since it'd be the safest place to be with no intruders.
Derek and I walked through the gym, and he picked up a basketball that was sitting in the middle of the court. He stared at it for a moment before dribbling it and turning to shoot.
The ball made it into the net and I raised an eyebrow, "Impressive." He nodded.
We continued through the gym as he held onto the basketball and we walked through another hall before entering the where the pool was. It smelled of bleach and it was really cold. I crossed my arms and we waited until we heard some doors open and I looked up to see Erica dragging Stiles in by the ear. Why must they always…
"The Gods above are testing me." I muttered, closing my eyes for a moment and rubbing my forehead. Derek glanced at me with an amused look.
"Ah, ah, ow! Ah! Oh… Valerie hey!" Stiles rubbed his ear before looking back at Derek, "Shit…" He ended up muttering.
"Stiles." Derek said curtly.
"Derek." Stiles mirrored.
"What'd you see at the mechanic's garage?"
Stiles' mouth opened and he looked at me in shock, "Hey! When I tell you things, it's between me, you, and Scott! You can't go telling… him… but to answer your question, I saw several EPA violations that I'm seriously considering reporting."
I rolled my eyes both at him and Derek who started up the theatrics and dug his nails into the basketball he was holding causing it to deflate.
"Holy God." Stiles said and swallowed.
"Let's try that again." Derek said.
Stiles sighed and put his hands on his hips, "Alright, the thing was pretty slick looking. Um, skin was dark. Kind of patterned… uh, I actually think I saw scales. Is that enough? Okay?" Stiles said and I looked over at Derek who looked like he was trying really hard to process what Stiles just said.
Stiles grunted when Derek gave him a look and continued, "Okay! Uh… eyes. Eyes are, um… yellowish and slitted. Um, it has a lot of teeth. Oh, and it's got a tail too." He finished.
From the corner of my eyes I saw Derek and Erica glance up and I followed their gaze and froze. I looked back at Stiles whose eyes widened.
"Wait, did you guys see it? You have this look like you know exactly what I'm talking about!" I shook my head and nodded my head up and just then the creature started hissing. Stiles turned his body and looked up. He took an immediate step back towards us.
The creature let out a high-pitched screech and I winced at the noise. It leaped from the top balcony and landed right in front of us. Derek pushed me back a little and immediately crouched, wolfing out and growling at it. Erica went to do the same but it pushed her back with great force against a wall causing her to knock out.
Derek turned to look at us, "Run!" he shouted pushing Stiles back, who took my hand without even thinking.
Just as we were going to, we saw the creature whip its tail in front of itself and it sliced the back of Derek's neck. I let out a gasp and Stiles rushed forward just before Derek lost his balance. I went ahead and helped him on the other side and we hurried around trying to get to the exit before the creature came at us again.
It pushed me backwards and I fell hard against the tiled wall, hitting my head in the process and blacking out.
[ END OF CHAPTER ]
Val has a habit of blacking out during the worst possible times... lol. ALSO who loves Delerie fluff? I do!
