Chapter 7: Summer of 1997
Petunia almost finished packing. A few weeks ago when Harry had come back from Hogwarts he had announced that he was in danger. Therefor they, the Dursley family, was also in danger and they had to go in hiding. Vernon had gone completely mad and had started screaming at Harry for a good twenty minutes about how they should never taken him into their home.
After Vernon stopped screaming and was still glaring at Harry, Dudley had asked what Harry meant with 'hiding'. Harry had explained that people from the Order of the Phoenix would take them into their home and take care of them while he, Harry, would be off to fight in the war that was going on. They weren't save in their own home because followers of the man who killed his parents would most likely attack them.
After Harry finished explaining Vernon opened his mouth to start yelling again, but Dudley interrupted him and said 'All right, I am going with this order people'. Vernon had looked at Dudley as if he had gone completely mad, then he turned to her. 'What about you Petunia, do you believe him?'
She took a deep breath and said 'Yes, I do believe him. I think we should go into hiding'. Vernon had huffed and walked out of the room without saying another word.
That was a few weeks ago and tomorrow they would leave to go to these people of the order. They would have to live into this wizarding house, the thought alone already sent shivers down her spine.
She was alone in the house now so that gave her the perfect opportunity to go into Harry's room and take a look into his photo album. She hoped that he hadn't already packed everything up like everything else in the house.
She opened his door and walked inside. From what it looked like he had sorted all his belongings into two piles. A small pile was placed next to a small backpack and a bigger pile was thrown into his trunk. She guessed that he would only take the small pile with him. On top of that pile she saw the photo album, as if it was the last thing he had looked at before he left his room half an hour ago.
She picked it up and took a seat on his unmade bed. She quickly went through the album in search for a page she didn't know yet. She soon found one, it was a picture of seven people in sports uniform with broomsticks in their hands. Underneath Harry had written 'Quidditch team of 1996-1997. Chasers: Ginny Weasley, Demelza Robins, Katie Bell. Beaters: Jimmy Peakes, Ritchie Coote. Keeper: Ron Weasley. Seeker/captain: me (Harry Potter).'
They were all smiling in the picture. Petunia recognised Harry, Ron and Ginny standing next to each other. So Harry was captain of the team, she remembered that James had been captain too, must be in their genes then.
The next page showed a picture of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny in front of a Christmas tree. They had their arms wrapped around each other and were smiling brightly into the camera. Above the picture Harry had written one word 'Christmas!' Even though Harry looked genuinely happy in the picture she could she he also had a sad look in his eyes. 'It must be hard to celebrate Christmas when your parents and godfather are dead..' Petunia thought remembering the first Christmas after her own parents had died.
She didn't want to feel sad now, so she quickly turned the page. On the next page she was surprised to see Harry and Ginny running to each other and kissing one other full on the mouth. 'They are couple?' Petunia thought. 'God, they look so much like Lily and James when they are wrapped up in each other like that'. Underneath the picture Harry had written 'Gryffindor won the housecup! …. Picture taken by Colin Creevey… '
Petunia smiled slightly, remembering the jealousy she had felt towards the relationship of Lily and James. But she was somewhat happy for Harry and Ginny.
She turned to the next page. There was again a picture of Harry and Ginny, but next to them were Ron and Hermione. They were all laughing but Petunia noticed that Harry and Ginny gave each other sneaky glances and when they started to lean into each other Hermione and Ron would quickly pull them away from each other, looking slightly annoyed but smiling nonetheless.
On the next page was a picture of an old man. Petunia recognised Dumbledore. Underneath was written
R.I.P. Albus Dumbledore.
The best headmaster and mentor I've ever known.
I wish I could have prevented this.
Petunia was shocked. Dumbledore died? Was it because of his age or because of the war that was going on? The old man had seemed so strong.. Not knowing what to think of it she quickly went to the next page, but it was empty.
Petunia closed the album and placed it back on the small pile next to the backpack and quickly left the room.
Just in time, because she heard the front door open.
AN: Hope you liked it.
