Chapter 7
-Yuki-
It's been two months since she'd gotten sick.
It's been two months since Kaname left.
It's been two months since she'd felt the warmth on her skin, where now, the cold air gripped at her with the beginning of winter.
Fall had been short and not so sweet. It had been wet and gross. Honestly, to her, everything had felt wet and gross. Yuki had tried so hard to focus on studying and school. She'd pushed her friends away and had grown distant to everyone and everything. She wanted to badly to forget about everything, about her memories she thought she'd had of Kaname and Zero….
Zero…
That name. Such a simple name. Two syllables but it sent an electric shock down her spine every time she thought of it. She had done her best to distance herself from him. Honestly it hadn't been too difficult. She stayed at the girls' dorm every night and he stayed at the Headmasters. They seemed to avoid each other whenever dinner came and whenever they did bump into each other Zero would avoid eye contact and Yuki would blush and quickly walk away.
She knew that day in the bathroom, when she'd seen the blood, that she had convinced herself it was all a dream… but now that she'd had time to really think about it she was determined to find out the truth. However, she was embarrassed and scared of the truth. So, she avoided the idea and thought completely. She had successfully raised her grades from a low D to a high C. That might not seem like a lot, but for Yuki that was quite a bit for such a short period of time. It also meant she wouldn't have to make up for it over winter break. That scared her. Everyone was leaving soon. Some were even leaving now. Most of the nightclass had already gone home to their families for their expensive vacations somewhere warm and tropical probably. That meant she didn't see much of Zero either because they didn't have to monitor dayclass students during the switch, but it really wasn't hard. Zero had been slacking on his nightly duties as guardians. Which meant Yuki had a lot of alone time for herself… sometimes it was hard not to think about what isn't true and what is.
Kaname didn't leave for no reason and you know it.
The voice was quiet but it spoke volumes. It was true. If nothing had happened why would he up and leave like that? Especially without letting Yuki know beforehand. Even the headmaster seemed utterly confused at the sudden departure, but no one questioned Kaname. He was still a Pureblood Vampire. He had important things to do….
Right…. And what about your memories of Zero and that night?
Yuki huffed under her breath: "Just a feverish dream…"
Yuki had been sitting in the quiet library of her school, looking over her books which she was studying over for finals, and she couldn't seem to push the thoughts away this time.
Zero had seem completely oblivious to her supposed "dream." And Yuki knew something was up. There was no way she could dream up something like THAT. Especially her having been a virgin and never having been with someone before. Small details she could remember from the "dream" seemed more and more clear that it couldn't be. Things she remembered, like marking on Zero's body she wouldn't have known about if it were not for them having been together like that.
Yuki groaned and buried her head in her hands on the table.
You're being watched.
The thought was sudden but it made Yuki immediately alert. She recognized that feeling on her back, that warm gaze, velvety and dark. Without even looking she knew it was him and a lump rose up in her throat.
Yuki turned around to find Kaname alone in the doorway leading from the outside to the Library. It had gotten dark out without her noticing.
"Lord Kaname…" she said softly and Kaname stepped forward towards her.
Yuki flinched suddenly, remembering the "dream, and Kaname quickly stopped.
"Yuki, we must speak privately." His voice was everything she'd remembered. It had been a long two months without him, and even with that negative memory of him, she had longed for his presence. She adored him. She always had. He was her hero, her savoir… in a weird way… in a deeper part of her… he was her "Master".
It was terrible of her to forgive him so easily, but she already had. It had given her time to think about that encounter… but she still wasn't 100% sure it was real. Zero had placed doubt and maybe she hoped that none of it had actually happened either.
"We are here alone…" she answered his request. "What is it?"
She felt dumb. Why couldn't she say more… like: "Where were you?"
Kaname smiled ever so slightly and she could see the familiar warmth in the way he had always looked at her, but there was something else in his eyes.
Uncertainty
That was rare for Kaname Kuran- Pureblood Vampire.
"Yuki…"
She knew it was coming. She knew he was about to lift all her doubts about that night not so long ago, but she was afraid of what was to come after.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I tried to hurt you. I'm sorry I abused you in that way."
It's true… Kaname… Zero…
Yuki felt light headed and as she stood to face him completely she almost fell. Suddenly Kaname was by her side and gently grabbed her elbows to steady her.
"So it was real.. Everything that happened that night." she spoke but it was almost in a whisper but Kaname had heard.
"You didn't think it was real?" he asked. He doesn't know about her and Zero, and she wanted it to stay like that until she could confront Zero about it again.
Yuki looked up into his dark eyes and spoke more clearly now: " I had fallen quite ill that next morning and I had been sick for days. Everything about that day had been a complete blur. I wasn't sure it was real."
Kaname was silent for a moment but Yuki could tell he was trying to connect the dots.
"Kiryu didn't feel the need to correct the confusion? How… unusual." his voice trailed off.
Yuki didn't know what to say. Any explanation wouldn't make sense, and it would just admit what had gone on between them. So Yuki lied. Something she'd never done the pureblood.
"We haven't been on the greatest of terms." honestly that wasn't too far from the truth. It was more that she was keeping it from him rather than lying.
For a second she almost saw a glint of satisfaction behind his eyes.
"Whatever you are mad at him about I'm sure he most definitely deserves." he said but then he released his hold on Yuki's elbow and stepped away.
"But I too, deserve your anger. What I did was unforgivable. I was possessive of you Yuki."
She was silent as he spoke. She knew he would be angry at her if she said she already forgave him, but she had. It wasn't too hard. After everything he'd done for her, and wasn't that what she'd wanted this entire time?
Zero
That name… it won't go away.
"Kaname… I…" she spoke but her quickly put his finger to her lips.
"No. Just let me speak. Yuki… I care for you a great deal. I feel quite possessive of you and I know that is wrong. There is so much you don't know about me, but I want to tell you… or ask you…"
He stopped for a second and then stepped forward towards her again and lifted her chin with his long slender fingers.
"Be mine Yuki. Will you?"
-Zero-
That bastard. Decided to show himself here. After everything.
The minute Headmaster Cross had told him Kaname was back Zero had already felt his Pureblood presence. Something all vampires can sense, even Zero in his half human half vampire state. Weakened state he should add since he hadn't been feeding from Yuki in more than two months.
He knew immediately where he would find the Vampire.
"Yuki."
They had been avoiding each other but Zero knew where she was, at any time of the day, anywhere on campus. Even though she was mad at him, and he was pretending to avoid her, he was still trying to protect her. Maybe even more now that they'd been together intimately. It was wrong of him, but ever since they'd made love that night (even though he completely denied it), he felt possessive of her. She was a part of him now. More so than she already was, if that was even possible.
She was in the library studying for finals, and that was exactly where he knew he'd find Kaname.
Zero ran towards the old building, past students heading for bed, ignoring irritated glances from them as he shoved his way past. He ran up the cold steps to the library and pushed open the heavy doors only to find his fear a reality.
Kaname stood close to Yuki, finger lifting her chin up, his face so close…
"Be mine Yuki. Will you?"
A hot flash of anger went through Zero's body and he fought all he had not to rip the vampire to shreds, even though he knew he probably wouldn't have a chance in his weakened state.
-Yuki-
She yelped a little as Zero crashed into the library and for the first time in weeks she looked at him and it scared her. He was so pale… which is a lot to say about Zero considering his already snow white skin. His eyes were dark and slightly sunken and his hair was dull of any shine. He looked… terrible.
"Get away from her." Zero's voice was hoarse but loud.
And that was when Yuki felt anger bubbling up. Despite his pitiful state, probably from lack of feeding which would be his own fault, she wasn't going to let Zero off so easily from the way he'd been treating and LYING to her the past few months.
"No, Zero." Yuki said firmly and clearly. Zero looked startled for a second and she knew Kaname was trying not to smile.
"We are talking." She spoke again. She wasn't going to let him treat her like that after having ignored her for so long. Especially after EVER denying they'd been together!
"You can't be serious Yuki! After what he's done?" Zero seemed frustrated and ran his fingers through his hair angrily.
-Zero-
She shot him a glance and it dawned on him. He knew she knew. A look of defeat fell over his face. How could he even think she would ever forget what happened between them, and then for him to act like none of it ever happened. He deserved her anger… but he didn't deserve her forgiveness. Not after what he'd done to her.
"Yuki he tried to have sex with you!" Zero yelled in anger once more.
Yuki looked up towards Kaname and saw the sadness in his eyes. He wasn't going to deny it.
I guess that's one thing different about Kaname and Zero. At least Kaname can admit his faults and be honest about it.
Yuki knew what she had to say and she began to tremble with fear and anger all at once.
Forgive me Lord Kaname.
Yuki turned to face Zero completely and stepped away from Kaname.
"Zero, WE made LOVE! And you pretended it wasn't real!"
The room became chill and electric sparks flashed in the empty air around them.
"WHAT?" Kaname screamed and with all his force, shot a light of energy and ice at Zero's chest, flinging him back against the large wooden doors. Something Kaname would have NEVER done so close to Humans.
She could feel his anger, his rage, and he was directing it all at Zero.
What had she done… he is going to kill him…
"Kaname no!" she grabbed his arm just as he was about to rush at Zero. He flung her to the side and roared.
"She wasn't YOURS Zero! You were to protect her! Not TAKE HER! She is mine!"
-Zero-
The pain was radiating his body, especially in his weakened state, but he wasn't going to back down. She'd spoken the truth. After all this time it was out in the open, and he wasn't denying it. It happened. It was real. And he no longer regretted it. Even now when Kaname could kill him he didn't regret it. If his love making with Yuki would kill him, he would die over and over for her.
"She doesn't belong to anyone Kuran." it hurt him to admit this but it was true… she didn't belong to Kaname Kuran, and she didn't belong to him either. No matter how much she wanted him to.
Kaname's eyes were dark and animalistic. Which was the most emotions he'd seen from the Pureblood all these years he'd known him.
"You are wrong Zero… I didn't want to do this like this… but… now that you've taken her innocence, it's time for her to know the truth."
Zero was confused at his words but even then he still struggled to stand up straight and make his way to the Pureblood. With a flick of his wrist Kaname sent him back against the wall again, but this time pinning his arms above his head with ice.
The next series of events would haunt Zero to the core.
Kaname reached and grabbed Yuki by the arm, crouching down and throwing her over his knee so that she was looking up at him. He gripped his hands into her hair and pulled her head back exposing her neck.
"It's time for you to remember Yuki." he said, before burying his fangs deep into her throat. She didn't make a single sound. Her eyes wide with confusion, fright, and surprise.
"NO!" Zero screamed and thrashed against his restraints.
He watched her eyes flutter as the bastard sucked her life force into himself.
All Zero could do is scream and growl at the Pureblood, his wrists turning bloody from the sharp ice cutting into his skin.
"Yuki, I'm sorry it had to happen like this." Kaname whispered after lifting his face from her neck. He lifted one hand as Yuki lay dazed and weak in his lap, and bit into his palm, drawing a line of blood. He pressed it to his lips and then with bloody lips, kissed Yuki, giving her his blood.
"YUKI, NO! I WILL KILL YOU KANAME! NO!" Zero trembled and rage filled his entire soul. He took her. He took her away from him! Turning his Yuki into a fucking vampire!
With all his might Zero pulled at the ice restraints one more time, and broke free. He immediately ran towards them, pulling out his Bloody Rose and aiming it at the Purebloods head.
That's when he smelt the blood… A purebloods', and not just Kaname Kuran's.
"No… impossible." Zero stopped and with wide eyes whispered.
"Yuki…"
