"HeMo!" Kevin called her and shouted some jokes. Naya was interrupted when Heather's phone vibrated in her hand.
Taylor…
Naya was about to give the phone to Heather but it went off. A few seconds later there was a text sent to the phone.
Taylor: Can you keep the talk we had between us for a little while? I don't want to shock my family abt the news. Tnx
What news?Naya wondered. She didn't want to intrude on Heather's privacy but the text came as a surprise. After realizing it, she called Heather's attention and told her someone had texted her. She handed her the phone and Heather excused herself.
"I need to go to the restroom. Excuse me." Heather said and walked out.
"What was that?" Kevin took a seat on Heather's chair.
"No idea." Naya shrugged.
You'll gonna have to tell me what that talk is all about.Naya said to herself.
Heather came back and they started to shoot the second part of their wedding which is the reception. Heather danced as Kevin sang. They performed the choreography with ease and they all had fun. After that they had a short break.
"Hey… here, drink some." Naya gave a glass of water to Heather who was heavily panting.
"Thanks!" She breathed out and plopped down next to Naya.
"Well, that was fun!"
"It was."
Naya noticed how Heather seemed to avoid her. Heather went to talk with the other girls when she was about to say something.
"LQ?" Kevin teased Naya.
"Shut up." She playfully rolled her eyes.
"So, I heard some rumours."
"What rumours?" Naya spun her head to look at Kevin.
"Hm… can't tell. But you'll find out soon." Kevin squeezed her hand. "By the way, did you enjoy the song?"
"Yeah, I had fun watching you guys. You really did well." She patted him on the back.
"Yeah, I had fun too. Especially singing the 'Hey Ya' part. It reminds me of both of you. He… Ya!" Kevin winked at her and sang 'Hey Ya' repeatedly.
Now, the confusion is killing her. No one dared to speak up to her. It seems that the Glee casts know something that she doesn't. They became very busy after the first break. There were consecutive takes and shoots that were covered for the day. She didn't have any opportunity to ask or confront someone.
"Okay. That's a wrap for today. I'll see you guys tomorrow at eight. Don't be late. We have some choreography to do." The director dismissed them. They bid farewell to each other.
Naya looked around to find her favorite blonde which seems to be missing a lot lately.
"Hey, did you see Heather?" She asked Amber but she shook her head.
"Where's Heather?" She asked another crew heading to their trailer.
"I don't know. I think she went home already."
"Great. Thanks anyways." Naya walked to Heather's trailer to check. It's already locked. She tried the parking lot but there are only few cars left which doesn't include Heather's. She sighed to herself hoping that tomorrow will be better than the current day.
She unlocked her phone and tried to give Heather a call. But it went to her voicemail.
She decided to send her a text instead.
HeMo: Hey, I was looking for you. I guess you went home so fast. Anyways, take care and have a good night! Xxx
She gathered all her things and went home to her husband.
…
"Hi." Heather entered the house and found Taylor and Elijah sitting on the living room. They were watching cartoons.
"Hey." Taylor gave her a timid smile. "Eli, say hi to mommy." Elijah enthusiastically ran towards his mom and showered her with kisses.
Taylor talked to her casually. He seemed a little distant and upset as he should be.
"I'm gonna have an early night." Taylor said and went to the kitchen to get a bottle of water.
"Are you okay?" Heather asked a little worried.
"I'm getting there." He sighed.
Heather put Elijah on the couch and followed Taylor on the way to the stairs.
"What's up?" Heather asked.
"Okay… um, I need to go to Arizona tomorrow to tell my family about our decision before it explodes in public."
"What? Can't you just give them a call?"
"I want to tell them personally. Besides, I think I should bring some of my stuffs there. I got nothing here in LA after all."
"Is Eli coming with you?"
"Oh, about that..." he scratched his head.
"Don't tell me you forgot about him." Heather gave him a disappointed look.
"Nope. I was kinda hoping that you were off tomorrow. You've been taping for a full week."
"I still have some work to do." Heather said exasperatingly.
"Then call his baby sitter to watch over him."
"Fine. I'll call her later."
"Cool."
"Wait! We haven't talked about what will happen to our son now that we're…"
"Yeah, I thought about it."
"You did?"
Taylor nodded. "Yeah, do you want to talk about it now?"
"Okay. Sure. I'll just put Eli to bed."
"I'll wait in the living room."
After Heather cleaned up and put Elijah to bed, she went downstairs to talk to Taylor.
"So… what's your plan?" Heather nervously took a seat opposite him.
"Don't worry. I will not take Elijah away from you. I won't do that again." He cleared his throat. "Well, I talked to my lawyer today."
"And what did he say?"
"That Eli should be under your parental authority because you are the mother."
Heather mentally gave a sigh of relief.
"And are you okay with that? But what about Eli?"
"Of course I'm not okay with it. I can't go on a day without seeing his smile." Taylor answered truthfully. "But I can't do anything about it."
"We can make arrangements. I'll talk to my lawyer."
"Yeah, we should make arrangements. I don't want him to feel incomplete and blame us for having a broken family when he grew up. I still wanted to be here as his dad and secure him that no one can replace that position in his life." He emphasized.
"No one's gonna replace you, Taylor. Our kid adores you so much."
"I know that… it's just. It's so hard you know?"
"I know. I'm sorry."
"Would there be an 'us' if I were more like her?" Taylor blurted out after a few seconds of silence.
"I thought we've had enough of that talk." Heather sighed.
He gave a light chuckle. "Sorry. I can't help it."
"It's alright."
"It would be really best for us if I move out sooner."
"Have you decided if you're going back to Arizona?"
"Hm, I'm still thinking about it. But I think yeah… there's nothing left in here for me except Elijah."
"I'm still here Tay. We can still be friends you know?"
He gave her a weary laugh. "Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. Maybe in time… in the right time. When all wounds heal I'll be able to look at you without this pain in my chest that hurts like fuck."
"There are a lot of girls who deserve to be loved by you Taylor. I'm really sorry that I can't be that girl."
"You tried and that's all that matters to me."
"Thanks for everything Taylor. I'm really grateful to have you as Eli's father."
"I'm really grateful that I've been a part of your life. Thank you, Heather. You've thought me a lot in love and life."
They smiled at each other.
"What time is your flight tomorrow?"
"I have to be there at seven in the morning."
"When will you be back?"
"I… I still don't know. It depends." He shrugged. "Maybe a week or two? I'll try to settle down in there. Find a new house or an apartment. But if you want I can bring Eli with me."
"Whoa! That long? Nope… no thanks."
He laughed at Heather's reaction. He knows how Heather is so attached to their son and he adores her for that.
"Do you want me to drive you to the airport?" Heather offered but Taylor politely declined.
"No thanks. It would be a very dramatic event if you'd be there. It would be very real… that we're finally saying our goodbyes after how many years."
"We have to at some point."
"Yeah. Maybe after I come back. Let's just take this some time and distance apart to think."
"I'm sure your family will convince you to go after me."
"You don't have to worry about that. I made up my mind, Heather. We're done and it's both our decision."
"Thanks for thinking that way, Tay."
"Nah, I'm just doing the mature thing."
"Well, thank you. I mean it."
"Enough of that. Come here and give me a hug. I'll probably go before you even get up tomorrow." Heather sat beside Taylor and hugged him. After that they bid good night to each other and checked on their son one last time.
…
Naya was on the bed with her husband. They were watching a movie when Ryan noticed that something is a little off with his wife.
"Tell me… is it her again?" Ryan whispered and rested his back on the headrest.
"Huh? I mean what?" Naya asked.
"Tell me Nay, are you still in to her?" Ryan asked with pain in his eyes.
"Ryan… I married you okay? That means I choose you."
"You didn't even answer my question." Ryan stood up and left Naya in the room.
"Ryan! Ryan!" She tried to call him.
Naya crossed her arms at the back of her head and muttered a 'shit'. She doesn't even know what she's thinking. Saying that she's confused would be a freaking understatement.
After a while, she decided to follow her husband downstairs. She found him sitting on the mini bar with a glass of scotch in his hand. He's listening to some classical music. Naya wrapped her arms around her husband's body.
"I'm sorry." Naya whispered.
Ryan downed the glass and sighed.
"I don't get you, Nay. You told me that you've moved on – "
"And I did."
He gave her a bitter smile. "You can't even look me in the eyes when you tell me that." Ryan turned to look at his wife. "Look, I'm not mad or anything… I'm just a little disappointed because you won't talk to me. I'm open to anything and you know it. I don't like being kept in the shadows, Naya. We've been friends for years. You always tell me everything, you even share your sex life with your exes." They both laughed at that.
"Yeah, I know that. It's just so hard for me to explain. I don't know how to put my feelings in words."
"Let me help you then."
"Ryan… I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"Nay, I love you okay? But if you don't want this relationship I'm ready to let you go. Of course it would be hard but I don't want to lock you up with me if you're not happy."
"Why are you being so cool with this?"
"I'm not cool with it. I just want you to be happy. And I know that our marriage has been so fast and easy but I don't regret this."
"I don't regret this either." Naya smiled at him.
"You have been a good and dedicated wife for me in the past couple of months. No one has ever done that aside from you."
"I'm doing my best."
"I know you are. Just tell me what you want, Naya. I'm not just your husband… I'm your friend, your buddy." He smiled lovingly at her.
"Gosh! Why are you so good? You're not making this easier for me."
Ryan chuckled and embraced her.
"They say that one of the hardest decisions you'll have to face is choosing whether to walk away or try harder. The decision is all up to you, babe. I'll always be here for you no matter what your decision is if you think it's for the best."
…
The next morning is their last shooting day. Naya and Heather have one last shoot in the auditorium with Chris, Darren and Jane.
Naya came in very early. She's still a little out of herself. Her phone buzzed just right after she got to her trailer.
Ryan: 'Let go when you're hurting too much, give up when love isn't enough.' Just found this somewhere… thought you might want to ponder on this one. Have a great day, love.
Naya sighed and decided to lie down on the couch to think. She wondered if Heather's already on set. But they weren't about to shoot until later that afternoon.
Speaking of Heather… she's a little late and had some problem at hand. Like literally! Darren saw her when she was about to enter her trailer.
"Heath!" Darren called her. She spun around and smiled sadly at him.
"Hey." Heather said.
"Want some help with that?"
"Would you mind?"
"Nope!" Darren smiled and opened the door for them. "Hey little man! How are you?" he greeted Elijah that was not on the mood that day. Elijah turned his head on the other side while Heather carry him inside.
"Sorry…" Heather apologized for his son's behaviour. "He's just a little off today."
"Why did you bring him here?" Darren sat on the couch and watched Heather fix her stuffs.
"I forgot to call her baby sitter last night. When I called her this morning she said she has some stuffs to do."
"Aww. That kinda sucks." Darren doesn't want to dig deeper. He learned that Heather and Taylor just split up and figured that maybe Taylor already left.
"Yeah…"
"Heath, if you need any help we're here. Especially with that adorable young man who look just like you." Elijah finally looked up to him and smiled.
"Play!" Elijah bounced on his seat.
"Oh, so you want to play with me now huh?" Darren joked which made Heather laugh.
"Play!" Her son repeated. Darren got up from his seat and played with Elijah. Other cast members wondered about the noise in Heather's trailer. Jenna is the first one to notice and she entered the trailer.
"Eli!" She shrieked with excitement. "Oh my gosh!" Jenna went to kiss his cheeks.
"Guys, can you keep an eye on him? I have to tell Ryan about him."
"I'm sure he'd understand." Jenna said.
"I hope so. Okay, I'll be quick." Heather kissed his boy before leaving.
Lea and Chris enter Heather's trailer and were also surprised to see the boy. Heather just gave them a look and they knew. Heather finally left them to go to Ryan.
Talking to Ryan was easy. He fully understood why Heather did that though he was quite worried about the kid. Heather promised that he has nothing to worry about. She'll handle everything.
"It is fine, Heather. You and Naya only have one last shoot left and you can go home right after that. I'll meet you at the auditorium, yeah?" Ryan nodded at her.
"Okay. Thank you so much Ryan." She hugged him in excitement.
"Alright kiddo."
Heather decided to come back to her trailer.
"Yeah, he's really cute."
She heard the familiar voice talking from her trailer.
"Are you planning on having some of yours, Nay?" Chris asked.
There was short silence that followed.
"Well…" Naya cleared her throat. "Maybe in the right time."
"But have you talked about it with Ryan?" Jenna asked.
"We kinda talk about different stuffs."
"Give Naya some rest! They just got married you guys." Amber defended her.
"Na-nay!" Elijah shrieked and clapped his hands.
"Yes, little man." Jenna praised him. "Here, would you like to hold Eli?" Jenna asked Naya.
"Oh… er… yeah, sure." Jenna handed Elijah to her. Naya put Elijah on her lap and to her surprise Elijah hugged her and rested his head on Naya's chest.
"Aww. Isn't he sweet?" Amber cooed.
"You look perfect." Chris said as Jenna agreed.
Heather was patiently listening outside.
"Wait! I have to get ready." Jenna blurted out.
"Shoot! Me too." Amber followed and stood up.
"I think I'm gonna go ahead too." Chris slowly stood up.
"Wait! Guys, you can't leave me in here. What about Eli?" Naya frantically asked.
"Oh, you can handle it babe." Amber winked at her and the three of them left.
"WAIT!" Naya shouted and all she heard were their chuckles.
"Oh, Heather…" Jenna said when she saw her sitting on the stairs.
"Hey…"
"What are you doing there? Get inside. Oh, and Naya's there with Eli. Don't worry." Chris said and went towards the make-up room. They all smiled sheepishly to each other.
Heather went inside and saw Naya playing with her son. She cleared her throat and placed her hands on her pockets.
"Oh, hi." Naya was a little embarrassed for being left alone in there with Heather's son.
"Mommy!" Elijah looked up to her.
"Hey, baby. Did you miss mommy?" She bent down on the floor to join Naya and Elijah. Elijah sat between them.
"Sure he did." Naya smiled at her. Heather blushed at the comment. "This boy grows up so fast. I can still remember carrying him. He's so little and so cute."
"Yeah, you are so afraid to carry him."
"Well I thought I would crash him or something. I didn't know how to hold a new born."
"But you did an amazing job with him. He likes you… see?"
"How can he not like me? I'm awesome." Heather laughed while nodding.
"That you are. You're also awesome for changing his diapers back then. I'm glad you didn't freak out much when I asked you to do that."
"Hm, no problem. It was easy."
"That is why you are going to do that again."
"Wait what?! Oh, no… no, no!" Naya has her eyes wide open. "No!" She shook her head.
"Oh, yes." Heather nodded.
"No!"
"You want Nay-Nay, right Eli?"
"Yes." Elijah nodded though he didn't understand the question.
"See? Can you say no to him?"
"Ugh! Morris, you'll gonna have to pay me for this!"
They laughed after Naya playfully glared at her.
"I wish he could just stay this little." Heather watched as her son played with Naya's hand.
"Well, we couldn't stop the changes."
"Unfortunately." Heather breathed out.
"So… I uh, I was looking for you yesterday. You left early."
"Oh, yeah. I was so tired and I really wanted to get enough rest."
"Hm, I understand. But I also have this feeling that you're avoiding me."
"What?" Heather was a little taken aback. "Why would I do that?"
"I don't know… do you want to tell me something?"
"Well, not really?" It came out more as a question.
"Okay Heather… I know that something's up." Naya faced her and Elijah looked at both of them confusedly.
"Can we not do it here?" Heather whispered.
"Na-nay?" Elijah interrupted them.
"Yes sweetheart?" Naya's façade changed into a softer one.
"Play?" He said with a yawn.
"I don't think so honey. Nap time!" Heather carried her to the couch.
"No!" Elijah shouted.
"It's too early Heather. Nap time is like in the afternoon."
"Yeah, but this guy over him likes to sleep anytime anywhere." Heather settled him down.
"Na-Nay! Play!" He started his outburst.
"Little man, be still this instant!" Heather slightly scolded her son.
"Plaaaaaaaaay!" Elijah started to cry.
"Hey, HeMo… no need to scare him." Naya kissed Elijah's cheek and rubbed his back.
"He's just a little grumpy since he woke up."
"But still…" Naya raised a brow at her.
"Fine… I'm sorry baby. Okay, you and Nay can play now."
She kissed her son on the top of his head. Elijah smiled at Naya and climbed back on her lap.
"Na-nay." Elijah gave him his toy car and started playing. Heather smiled at the interaction.
"So, when can we talk?" Naya asked when Heather sat closer to them. "Like talk, talk."
"Soon." Heather nodded at her.
What do you think guys? How soon can I end it?
