"Godric! Look, what I did!" Annabel held up a written out version of the vampires name on a piece of paper. The little girl smiled proudly up at her vampire, her blond hair parted down the middle in cute pigtails on either side of her head.

Godric felt pride well up in his chest at the three year old. Never would the vampire have thought he would come to care for the child as much as he had. When his dear friend had instructed the child be placed in his care upon his death, he never imagined loving Annabel as much as his undead heart could. But this was, without a doubt, the power her kind had over vampires and humans alike.

As Godric smiled down at the child, the image of her suddenly became distorted. As the vampire reached out for Annabel, the child started to turn to dust before the vampires eyes. He had failed her. She had been placed into his care, trusted him, and yet he had failed her.

"Godric."

Annabel woke up alone in the dark office of Fangtasia. The small child's cheeks were red and irritated with tear tracks as the little girl tried to work out her dream. She remembered seeing Godric, remembered being home, but then suddenly everything began to disappear, including herself.

It was an unpleasant image and Annabel would be happy to forget it. As the little girl slide off the couch, the Fangtasia blanket wrapped around her shoulders, she headed for the office door. Just as she reached for the handel, a scream could be heard making the child freeze up. She almost wanted to retreat from opening the door in fear, but the little girl gathered her bravery and pushed the door open.

Anna took tentative steps down the hall and slowly opened the doors leading into the closed nightclub. There Anna found her Aunt holding a gun aimed at a screaming woman. The little girl remembered the woman from the night her Aunt was brought here to read her mind for Eric. But why was her Aunt hold the woman at gunpoint?

"Aunt Sookie?" The woman in question turned to see her niece wrapped up in a red blanket with her dolls yellow head peeking out near the child's chin.

"Anna? Oh sweetie, are you alright?" Sookie looked the little girl over from her position in front of Ginger. "You stay right their honey, I'll be right back. Now, take me to Lafayette."

Anna tilted her head in curiosity as Gringer lead her Aunt from the room and through another door. She wondered what Aunt could have meant by mentioning Lafayette, but she would soon find out as Sookie came back into the closed club with furious expression. The young woman was clearly upset about whatever had transpired on the other side of the door.

"That lying, evil, conniving!" Sookie paced the floor as she spit out insults. Annabel, still confused, stood questioning her Aunts ranting.

The doors behind Anna suddenly opened and Bill entered the room, making Sookie stop pacing and look to the dark haired vampire. Bills face showed how relieved he was seeing the young woman awake.

"Thank God." Bill took Sookie into his arms, but when she did not return the gesture he stepped back. "Are you still upset about our fight?"

"No. I'm more upset by the fact that Eric had Lafayette chained down in his basement." Sookie snapped.

Annabel looked to her Aunt with wide eyes, now understanding why her Aunt was so upset. The little girl couldn't help but wonder why Eric would have Lafayette in his basement. But vampires aren't ones to play by human rules, it was something Annabel had been taught at a young age.

"What do you mean?"Bill questioned the human before him.

"I believe she is referring to the human who was caught selling V that I have down in my basement." Eric sauntered into his night club, answering Bills question. Annabel looked to the older vampire, something about V sounded familiar to Anna, but she couldn't quite remember where she had heard about it before. It was hard to keep up with adult conversations, but she knew she had heard of V from somewhere.

"His name is Lafayette." Sookie told the vampire strenly. "And I can't believe you've had him down there for weeks."

Anna watched as her Aunt got dangerously close to the old vampire. The little girl herself took a step away from the scene, having witnessed the anger of a vampire once before. Bundled in her borrowed blanket, Anna fearfully watched her Aunt confront Eric, going as far as to slap the undead man. Annabel looked on in shock as Erics fangs clicked, but the man did not attack her Aunt.

The little girl, scared for her Aunts life, rushed forward and clutched onto the woman's leg. Anna buried her face into the fabric of the long t-shirt Sookie was wearing and hoped Eric wouldn't hurt her. Eric glanced down at the child before looking back to the woman who had dared slapped him.

"Let's make a deal." Eric said, reigning in anger at the human.

Sookie crossed her arms and started at the vampire before agreeing. If she could get Lafayette safely out of this, it would be worth it. Sookie looked to her scared niece and felt immensely guilty. Anna was just a child and was no doubt scared.

"Come here, Annabel." Sookie reached down and lifted the small child into her arms. Anna looked to the vampires in the room with caution before resting her head on her Aunts shoulder and relaxing. The four of them then headed back to Eric's office to work out some sort of deal in exchange for Lafayette's life.

"The sheriff of Dallas has gone missing." Eric started as soon at the four of them entered his office. "And your talent can be of use finding him."

Annabel suddenly strighented up in her Aunts arms. Dallas? She knew that place, she was from there, that was home. The little girl quickly turned to her head to her Aunt an excited look on the child's face.

"I know Dallas. That's where home is." The little girl told her Aunt excitedly. Sookie looked to her niece. Dallas was where her sister had gone to after leaving Bon Temps. The blond wondered if she would still be there. Dallas held a lot of unanswered questions.

"So, if I agree to go to Dallas to help look for this missing vampire, you'll let Lafayette go?" Sookie asked, looking back to Eric.

"Sookie no. You nearly died last night." Bill brought up.

"I want to go. I want to go, please." Anna wiggled in her Aunts arms and the woman set her on the ground. Sookie had never seen her niece this excited about something. Annabel was normally such a quiet child, but something about Dallas definitely had the child riled up. Before Sookie could voice her answer, Eric spoke up.

"The little ones gifts could be useful in finding the sheriff." Eric brought up, watching a questioning look go over both Sookie and Bills faces.

"Gifts? Annabel doesn't have any gifts, Eric." Sookie told the vampire.

Anna cringed and sent a very pitiful glare at the tall vampire who had outed her secret. She had promised not to let anyone know about her gifts. She had been warned that it could be very dangerous for the little girl if the wrong people were to ever know about her gifts.

"Annabel?" Sookie looked down at her now quiet niece who was currently not wanting to meet the woman's eye. Sookie said the girls again in a stern tone and the child flinched before looking up at the woman.

"I promised not to tell anyone, but then Long Shadow was going to hurt you, so I warned Eric." Anna told her Aunt meekly.

"How did you warn Eric, Annabel?" It was Bill who asked this question, equally curious as to how the child had done it.

"I, um, I touched his hand." Anna answered, looking back down at her feet. "I can sometimes hear thoughts and feel what someone is feeling. But only with vampires."

Bill and Sookie gasped at the information Anna was telling them. Even Eric raised a brow at the new information being told by the child. She was clearly turning out be very interesting indeed. Anna herself felt terrible having kept her secret from her Aunt, but she had made a promise.

"I don't understand." Sookie started. "How did you warn Eric that night about Long Shadow?"

Anna looked to the older vampire then back to her Aunt. The child couldn't explain how she did what she did, it was just normal for her. From as early on as she could remember, Annabel has had these gifts. Gifts that she had promised not to use outside of the nest, a promise she had broken.

"The child can put words into one's mind by touching their skin." Eric spoke up, looking to the child for confirmation. Anna nodded at the vampire explanation. "She did the same thing last night, sending me an image of the creature that had attacked you."

Sookie was stunned. Her niece was gifted, but only concerning the undead. It raised more questions than it did answering them. Why? How? What did this mean for Annabel? Was this something her sister could do? So many questions filtered through Sookie's head. The young woman took a deep breath, doing her best to calm her thoughts, coming to a decision.

"If Anna is coming with me, its $15,000, and Bill is coming as well." Sookie then looked down at her niece. "And you young lady, you and I are going to have a talk."

Anna nodded at her Aunts words, but she only felt excited knowing she had a chance at going home. Maybe, just maybe, she would be able to see him again. Her Godric.

"Your humans getting cocky, Bill." Eric smirked. "Fine."

With that, the deal was made and Eric allowed Lafayette to be set free from the basement. Anna sat quietly on her Aunt's lap while Bill drove back to Bon Temps and Lafayette laid in the back seat. The dark skinned man had refused to go to the hospital and only wished to go home. Bill was sure to help him into his house and lay him down on the couch.

With Lafayette taken care of, the three occupants of the car drove in silence the rest of the way to Bills home. Once there, Bill parked the car and Sookie looked to the vampire.

"Do you mind letting me talk to Annabel alone?" Sookie asked the undead man. Bill only nodded in understanding before leaving the two alone in the car.

Anna sat quietly in the back seat and waited for her Aunt to say something. She knew she was no doubt going to be in trouble with the woman. She never wanted to lie to her Aunt, but she didn't want to go back on her promise either.

"I'm so sorry Annabel." Anna was confused to hear her Aunt apologise to her. "I'm so sorry. I've put you in so much danger. Your just a child and yet you've seen so much in the past few weeks. Things no child needs to see." The young woman felt so shameful. She was Annas aunt and yet she had been so irresponsible with the child's care. Taking her to vampire bars, stomping out of a car in the middle of nowhere, putting her life in constant danger. "Gran was so much batter at this than me. I've done nothing but be the irresponsible Aunt."

Anna looked at her Aunt curiously. The child never found any of their situations to be her Aunts fault. But, she was only a child, and didn't understand that it was Sookie duty as her guardian to keep her safe and take care of her. Annabel had only ever had one way of life, and being tossed into another one confused the little girl. Was this not normal?

"Its okay Aunt Sookie." Anna started. "Everything will be okay."

Sookie looked to her little niece and wondered where this child could have ever come from. She seemed so unfazed by the happenings going on around her. It was scary to realize that Anna seemed to be almost comfortable among the undead. Yes she was cautious, but it was almost like the little girl knew what to expect from vampires.

"I love you Anna." Sookie scooped the little girl out of the back seat and sat her on her lap. "I promise I'll do better."

Annabel cuddled into her Aunts arms. It had been a long time since Anna had felt this comfortable since her mother took her from Dallas. She had been used to the lifestyle she was raised in, and Bon Temps had just never felt like home. But Anna lover her Gran, and she loved her Aunt Sookie.

"Don't worry Aunt Sookie, things will be better." Anna told the woman. While Sookie thought the little girl was speaking of their life her in Bon Temps, Anna was thinking of her home back in Dallas. The little girl couldn't have been more excited. She going home, home to the one person she missed more in this world.

A smile graced the child lips as she thought about home. Yes, she was so much closer now. Soon she would be on her way to him, back to her Godric.
