Chapter 6

Sasuke burst through the door eyes blazing with furious, his face twisted into a sneer "What the hell did you do?" he called out knowing his brother was home.

Itachi walked out from the kitchen playing innocent raising an eyebrow at his outburst. "What are you talking about, and keep your voice down, you'll wake mother."

He glared at him. "I know you may not like my relationship with Naruto, but now you've gone too far. Who the hell told you about Naruto and what did you do with him."

"I'm saving you from the pain he would have brought you. You have no idea how dangerous he really is-"

"Pain. Pain! You're the only one that is bringing me pain right now. You've caused me nothing but misery from the moment you got involved. You're too blind to see past your own ideals, so let me spell it out for you. Naruto makes me happy, so stay the fuck away from him and stay out of my life," he yells at him and god did it feel good to finally stick it to him.

"By the way, I'm moving out. I don't want to ever see you or any of your friends again," he ran up the stairs to his room.

Itachi follows after him; he walks into his room to see him packing a bag with clothes and a few other things.

"You can't just move out. How do you think mother will feel?" he argues.

Sasuke stocks over to him getting right in his brother's face. "Don't you dare bring mother into this again, I've had it with you and your controlling ways, my life is my own," he said and walks back over to his bed throwing some more clothes into it and zipping it up. He throws the bag over his shoulder and pushes passed the older Uchiha.

"If you really care you would tell me the truth about what happened to Naruto," he yells at him from the stairs.

Itachi watches him from the door frame, arms folded in front of his chest. "I'm just trying to look out for you. You don't know what he really is, or what he has been involved in. It's not safe to be with him."

"I know firsthand what he is and want he can do, but I know it's not his fault. What I don't understand is how you know so much," he questions.

"You may not feel that way after you find him," he follows him down the stairs.

"Damn it I lo- care about him and if you care about me you will tell me where he is. If not then I will just have to find him myself." he glared up at him, making quick work putting his shoes back on.

"Sasuke, there is something you need to know about our family we're…..we're different from other people."

"You're telling me, there's something seriously wrong with this family," he snorts.

"I'm serious Sasuke we were born with a rare ability. We're the only two left alive that have it and that man wants it, he wants you because it was easier for him to get his hands on you as a child. It was either you or Naruto and I wasn't going to lose you to that snake," he sounded sincere.

"What?" his eyes flash red. "What the hell were you thinking? Stop trying to protect me if it means you're going to get someone else hurt!" he clutched his fist to try and stop them from shaking.

"I did what I had to, to keep you safe," Itachi didn't show his surprise on his face

Sasuke felt nothing but rage towards his brother in that moment and rushed him slamming him up against the wall, his arm resting across his brother's throat.

"Tell me who has Naruto? " Sasuke growled.

Itachi remained silent, watching his brother and letting him express his emotions. This felt very familiar to the times when Orochimaru was studying Sasuke. He was so confused and angry by it all, because he couldn't remember or understand what had happened. This was one of the reasons their father wanted to stop letting Sasuke go to his lab. But Orochimaru wouldn't tell him what was being done or stop studying Sasuke. That was a part of their deal when Fugaku agreed to his terms.

"If Naruto is harmed in any way when I find him, you will be dead to me! You won't see me back here again and you will have to explain to mother why she will not see her son again," his voice dark and deadly serious.

Itachi's eyes flash and he had Sasuke up against the wall before he could react, he grabs tightly onto the collar of his little brother's shirt.

"If it means keeping you safe I would do it again in a heartbeat," he let his emotions show for just a second but Sasuke was quick to see it before it was gone. "You have no idea what Naruto is capable of, or what that man would do if he got his hands on you," he locks eyes with Sasuke.

"I'll do everything in my power to keep you out of his hands no matter what the cost," his voice was low.

Sasuke looks his brother dead in the eye, "Get your hands off me," he spoke in a dark tone, his eyes swirling.

Itachi held his gaze, remaining still. "Sasuke-"

"Don't bother, you have lied to me so much, I don't think you know what it means to be honest anymore. I'm done here."

He pulls Itachi's hand away; the hand falls limply to his side. He pushes past him, slamming the door as he leaves.

Itachi turns and stares at the door cursing under his breath, he sighs heavily. "I will always be there for you little brother, even when you don't think you need me. Because that is what big brothers are for," he smiles.

Sasuke storms out of the house running right into Karin without apology, moving right pass her without breaking his stride.

"What the hell, Sasuke?" Suigetsu called after him.

Jugo helped her up. "Thanks," she said softly.

Suigetsu stepped into his path. "What's the big deal Sasuke? I know she can be kind of a pain sometimes, but that doesn't mean you can be an ass about it."

"Naruto is missing thanks to my brother. If any of you know anything you better tell me right now," his voice low. He did have any patients less after dealing with his brother, so much time had passed since Naruto went missing and there was no knowing what was happening to him. Sasuke hadn't felt this worried since his mother had gotten sick and damn it he hated feeling this powerless.

They all exchanged a look with each other. The silence drew his attention, he turned back to face them.

"What?" his eyes narrowed.

"I don't know that it has anything to do with Naruto disappearing," Karin hesitated.

He glared at all three of them his eyes darkened. "What is it?"

"It didn't seem suspicious at the time, but it was Deidara that suggested we ask you to go to the movies with us. He said your brother was worried about how much time you were spending with Naruto." Suigetsu spoke for Karin.

He turns to leave.

"I'm sorry Sasuke we had no idea he was going to do something to Naruto. We just thought he wanted you to spend some time with your friends." Karin jumps forward, grabbing his sleeve.

"Enough, if you want to be sorry then help me find out who my brother told about him," he stared down at Karin with such pleading eyes.

The weight of his stare caused her grip on his sleeve to slip. She had never seen Sasuke with such an expression or any expression unless he was really pissed off. Did Naruto really mean that much to him? The thought made her chest ache; she had tried so hard to get him to look at her with any kind of emotion and was always left staring at a blank mask. Even if just a little she would do anything she could to help him. Maybe she wouldn't get the happy ending she had always hoped for, but anything was better than this desperate expression.

"Suigetsu, do you remember the place where we all used to hang out at? It's been awhile, but maybe we can find some answers there," Karin asked.

"What are you talking about?" he raised an eyebrow.

Jugo picked up on the plan right away. "I'll help Sasuke keep looking and we can talk about the good old days. Call when you've found the snake's pit. "

They all shared a look and then looked at Sasuke.

"Do what you want," he sighed. He knew they were keeping something from him, but he would have to worry about that later. Naruto was his first priority. He should give Kiba a call and see if he could crash there while they figure out where Naruto was.

Sasuke flips open his phone to dial Kiba's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Kiba, it's me," he leans his head back, staring up at the sky as he prepares for Kiba's melt down.

"Dude! Where the hell have you been?"

"I found out my brother is involved with Naruto's disappearance. Long story short,I need a place to crash while we look for him, by the way how much do you know about Naruto's past?"

"You're welcome to stay here, Naruto does all the time, so we have the room and everyone is gone for the week. But why are you bring up his past?" he sounded worried. Nothing good had ever come from digging into Naruto's past.

"We can share and tell when I get there," he ends the call.

"What are you thinking, Sasuke?" Jugo asks, he falls into step with him.

"That there is a lot more going on here then just my over protective brother, and I intend to find out what it is."

"Like what?"

Sasuke gave him a sideways glance as they made their way onto the main street to Kiba's house. It was a far distance from his house, but he could use the walk to calm his still shaking fists. He still had the overwhelming urge to punch something. If only to release some of the rage he had built up toward his brother. He was grateful that Jugo was coming along with him; he always had a calming effect on the people around him. Even if sometimes Sasuke had to be the calm one for him.

"My brother said some very curious things about Naruto and myself. If I hadn't been so pissed off at him I would have had a better mind to ask him what he was talking about. I only hope that Kiba knows a little more about it than I do."

"What did your brother say?"

"He was saying some bull shit about our family having a special ability with our eyes and Naruto being a monster."

"What do you think gave him that idea?" he asks trying not to alert Sasuke of his true intentions. It would be easy for him to tell Sasuke all about his past but there was a very good reason why he didn't remember. He didn't know how Sasuke would handle knowing what they used to be.

"I don't know, I have a feeling it has something to do with when I was sick as a child. My memory of that time is foggy. But with the way my brother was talking about it makes me suspicions of what was really going on at that time."

"What does that have to do with Naruto though?" Juugo tried about to see if Sasuke remembered anything.

"I don't know, but I'm hoping Kiba can shed some light on the situation."

Sasuke gave the door three hard knocks, stepping back he waits impatiently for someone to answer. He could hear some noise coming from the other side of the door. "Doors open come on it," Kiba yells from the other side of the wooden door.

He pushes the door open walking in, "Kiba-" he stops short in the doorway. A small white dog was standing in the hallway growling at him.

Kiba popped his head out of a doorway to the left. "Akamaru enough," he commands sharply. The dog sits quietly in front of him, but was cautious towards the newcomers in his home.

"Sorry he is a little over protective," he disappears back into the room.

"I wouldn't have guessed," Sasuke replied sarcastically

"Come on in, we'll talk in the living room," he calls from the other room.

Sasuke slips off his shoes and follows Kiba into the other room with Jugo close behind him. Kiba was sitting on a small couch, with his hands in his lap staring at the floor. He had a conflicted look on his face. "What does your brother know?" he asks in a soft voice.

"Not much that he was willing to tell me, but then I was also too pissed at him to ask," he fell unceremoniously into the armchair across from him.

Looking around at the pictures on the wall he noticed a lot of family photos and everyone was always smiling. It made him think of how different his family was. This house was so warm and inviting where his home felt cold and empty. His mother spent so much time in her room resting that he rarely saw her. Ever since the accident that ended his father's life all those years ago it was mostly just him and Itachi now. Their mother had taken it very hard and though she wasn't medically sick, she just couldn't deal with everyday life anymore. So the brothers just tried their best to make sure she was healthy and comfortable.

He notices a picture of Kiba and what must be his sister at her graduation. They look like they are very close and happy much like how he and Itachi used to be. Sasuke thought back to before his father's death, when he used to spend a lot of time hanging out with Itachi. Even when he was busy studying because their father expected great things from him, he always made time for him. He didn't know how to take his father's death at that age, so he closed himself off to everyone and would only listen to his mother. At the same time Itachi became over protective of him and took being the man of the house very seriously. When he wasn't giving Sasuke a lecture about something he was locked up in their father's office doing God knows what.

Little did Sasuke know that he was reading through his father's notes, he knew their father's death was suspicious. He found out about Orochimaru and what he did to Sasuke and Naruto when they were children. It was those events that caused him to be a super over protective brother. Jugo, Karin and Suigetsu became friends with Sasuke shortly before his father's death.

They are all failed experiments of Orochimaru to create a human weapon, but helped with what he made Sasuke and Naruto into. They knew Sasuke from their time in the lab and when they were released by Orochimaru, he knew they would find Sasuke. He planned to use them when he reclaimed Sasuke after Itachi made it difficult to get near his precious little brother.

Sasuke doesn't remember anything from his visits to the lab because Orochimaru put a seal on him, locking away his abilities and his memories. That way it would be easier to get him back when the time came, but he had never planned for them to find each other again before he took them back.

"Naruto's guardian Jiraiya only told me a little bit about his past after he put me in the hospital. I was pretty freaked out after meeting his dark side," he started looking at them both to gauge their reaction, he hesitated before continuing.

He knew Sasuke wouldn't be surprised, but he had never met these friends of his and wasn't sure how much to say. If it wasn't for the fact that Naruto was missing he wouldn't be saying anything in front of him. But if breaking his promise met that they might be able to find his best friend then he was left with no other option.

"All I really know is that his parents were working with a company trying to improve the human's immune system and speed up healing. They had a special creature called Kyuubi with incredible strength and healing properties that they were trying to replicate, so that they could help people who were fighting fatal illnesses or diseases.

Naruto developed an autoimmune disease at a young age, so when they were invited to work on this project they did it with the agreement that their son would be helped. That was what they were told when they agreed to help, but the company was really trying to create super soldiers. They had no idea that while the lead scientist was treating Naruto it was doing more than just curing his disease. By the time his parents found out what the man was really doing the Kyuubi was already sealed within him and his personality was starting to change. In order to keep the project a secret and his parents from taking him away they were killed in a lab 'accident.'

The only reason he was rescued was because before they were killed, Minato told his mentor Jiraiya about what was going on and he has been able to keep Naruto hidden from the lead scientist since then."

Sasuke sat there for several moments taking in everything Kiba had just told him in. It was hard to believe that Naruto had gone through so much as a child and never let it show.

"Then it was this researcher that my brother spoke to," he said with a sign.

"Most likely."

"It's getting late, I'm going to let Karin and Suigetsu know what we found out and we will figure out what to do tomorrow," Jugo spoke up. He saw that Sasuke was ready to argue with him. "You're tired and you'll be no help to Naruto if you pass out before we find him." He stood up from the couch saying goodbye and pulling out his phone as he walked through the door. Kiba slapped his hands against his knees and stood up. "He's right, we should get some rest, and we've been up all night trying to find him. I know it sucks but we can pick this back up tomorrow morning."

"Fine," he agreed signing heavily.

"You can sleep in the room Naruto normally uses when he's over here."

"You're sure it's ok for me to stay with you?"

"Yeah, don't worry about it."

"Thanks Kiba, I really appreciate it."

"Wow, never thought I'd see the day when an Uchiha would say thank you to anyone."

"I'm not as heartless as some might think. I'm nothing like my brother," he said clenching his fist.

Sasuke looked around at the room that Naruto slept in when he was over at Kiba's house. There was even some of his stuff laying around. He picked up a small crystal necklace wondering how often he stayed here. Thinking about the blonde was hard when he didn't know where he was, it made it feel that much more hopeless.

"Naruto used to spend a lot of time here before he met you, he may put on a strong face, but on the inside he really needs someone he can lean on. Someone that knows what is going on without him having to explain things. He's not much for complaining about his problems," he chuckled softly.

"Yeah…"

He rested a hand on Sasuke's shoulder. "Don't worry man we'll find him, I have to go call Jiraiya and let him know what's going on," he started to leave so that he could get some much needed rest.

"I hope so," he looked at him the worry and doubt plain to see in his eyes.

"See you in the morning," with that Kiba left Sasuke alone in the room.. He looked around at the rest of his stuff, pictures on the desk and a small pile of clothes on the bed. He picked up one of his hoodies it still smelt so strongly of Naruto, his eyes stung as he fought back the tears threatening to fall.

'What do I do now? How am I going to find him?,' he rested his head in his hands, dread filled him. The weight of it all lay heavily on his shoulders. Where was he supposed to start looking for him and who was the man that his brother and Kiba were talking about?

Then he heard a weird sound, it took him a moment to understand where it was coming from. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry but it seems that when he wasn't looking Naruto had messed around with his ring tones again. He didn't know what to think his hands were shaking when he looked at the screen to see Naruto's face.

"Where the hell have you been?! Kiba and I have been worried sick about you!," he shouted into the reservoir.

A deep chilling laugh replied, "So sorry to disappoint you, but Naruto can't come to the phone right now. I'll be sure to let him know how worried you are about him though. It's a shame you aren't here to tell him yourself, I'm sure he would find great comfort in seeing you."

"You bastard, who are you? What have you done?," he growled into the phone.

"Let's just say it's been a long time since we last had a good chat, I've been waiting such a long time for this reunion."

"What are you talking about? I don't know who you are, we've never met before."

Dark laughter came from the other end of the call. "Ah... I see, you still don't remember anything. Well, I guess that's better for me."

"It's time for you to wake up from this dream you're in," he spoke in a calming voice.

Sasuke's eyes turned hazy, becoming hypnotized by the voice as something in the deep crevices of his mind slowly awakened. He started to pant clutching his chest as his heart started pounding. Images began racing before his eyes but he couldn't make out any of them.

"Good night Sasuke, I'll let you know where to find me so we can reunite you with Naruto when you wake up."

"Wha-what are you…" his words slurred and his eyes grew heavy. He tried and failed to keep his eyes open, something had a hold on him, he couldn't fight the desire to sleep any longer, and he fell to the floor. The phone slid from his hand landing a few feet away from him. An image of three tomoes appears on the screen and the phone flickered on and off several times before the screen went black.

There was nothing but darkness all around him. He tried to reach out for something in the darkness without success. It was a vast void all around him. He took a few steps forward with no sense of direction. His chest filled with the sinking feeling of hopelessness. It caught him off guard, he didn't understand where these feelings were coming from. Sure, it was dark, but he had no reason to fear it.

The hairs on the back of his neck stood up at the sound of a low growl coming from not far in front of him. It caused him to feel a strange feeling of familiarity and instinctive fear. He stood there frozen wanting to run, but he had this nagging feeling that kept his feet planted.

A chill ran up his spin when he noticed piercing red eyes grinning at him through the darkness. There was a soft pulsing light that illuminated the stranger's face. Shock and disbelief shot through him, unmistakable blond hair couldn't belong to anyone else.

Sasuke woke with a start, gasping as he sat up, wincing when he noticed a strong ache in his shoulder. Memories of his dream came flooding back along with a lot of other images he didn't understand. His head starting pounding, he took a good look around the room and noticed everything seemed sharper, more define. There was a knock at the door that caused him to jump and drop the necklace he was holding. "Yes?"

The door creaked open Kiba entered the room and closed the door behind him, "there are some friends of yours that won't leave without talking to you. Did you want me to just kick 'em out?"

"No, that's fine, I'll talk to them," he sighed heavily, glancing around the room again before looking at Kiba. There was a sharp intake of breath from Kiba as a stunned expression set on his features.

"What?" Sasuke cocked an eyebrow at him.

"Dude, you look like a vampire your eyes are freaky as shit," he regain his composure.

"What the hell are you talking about?," he pushed passed him heading to the bathroom.

Sasuke stared at his reflection in horror, Kiba wasn't kidding he did look like a vampire. The pain in his shoulder grew stronger, from an ache to a throbbing pain. His face twisted in pain, grabbing at his shirt he pulled back the collar to see why his shoulders was hurting. There was a mark; it looked like a tattoo on the back of his shoulder just under the base of his neck. He stared at his reflection again; it wasn't just the colour of his eyes. There were dots that swirled around his pupils every time he looked at them. They pulled him in holding him there like he was having a staring contest with his own reflection. Flashes of images pasted by his vision. It was Naruto a much younger and more violent version of him and he was fighting other kids his age. His eyes were the same as when he had lost control in front of him but rather than fighting to gain control back he seemed to be enjoying it.

Sasuke closed his eyes trying to block out the images only to hear his own voice, it sounded like he was giving Naruto orders. They were fighting other kids and they were winning in the most brutal way. What was this? Why was he seeing these things? His mind was reeling from the chopping slideshow playing across his eyes, whether they were open or closed. Kiba entered the bathroom just as he sank to his knees on the floor, he clapped his hands over his ears trying to block out the screams.

"Shit," Kiba swear dropping down beside him.

"Don't touch me!" he yelled at the visions and slapped Kiba's hands away.

Juggo appeared in the doorway with Karin and Suigetsu in tow.

"What happened?"

"We heard yelling," Karin said quickly trying to excuse them just barging in.

Sasuke glared at them causing them all to flinch back, an old habit they thought didn't exist anymore. They had been friends for years now, Sasuke wasn't that person anymore, a little rough around the edges but nothing like what he had been when they were children. Juggo stepped forward and all of Sasuke's attention shifts to him.

"You guys go get Itachi tell him to get over here right away," he ordered and they disappeared from the doorway.

"Don't get my brother," he spat, glaring up at him.

"What happened to you Sasuke to trigger the Sharingan?"

"The what?"

"Your bloodline trait. Do you still remember nothing?"

"Orochimaru answered Naruto's phone and then…" his eyes went dark as he thought back to the conversation. He quickly moved to sit on the toilet and turned away from them. "Get out."

Kiba still on the floor dumbfounded, "What the fuck just happened?" He turned to Juggo for an explanation.

"It looks like it's time for him to wake up from the dream."

Kiba cocked an eyebrow at him.

"It's a code phrase that Orochimaru put on Sasuke to make him forget about his time at the lab. It was supposed to be short term to keep his family from finding out the truth."

"What truth?"

"That Sasuke and Naruto were being engineered as human weapons."

Kiba's jaw dropped. "He was doing what with them!?"

"Orochimaru was trying to create the perfect human weapon, at first we were a team Sasuke, Karin, Suigetsu and I. That was when we really met Sasuke for the first time. We didn't do anything to terrible at first, just a lot of training and testing. Sasuke was the only one to have his memories blocked because he still had a family, the rest of us were orphans taken in by Orochimaru . At the time I had no idea why Orochimaru paired up Naruto and Sasuke, but now I see. It wasn't until they started to do private sessions that he changed. He didn't laugh again after that first session or even talk to us, he just followed Sasuke around and did whatever he said. At the time we were all really confused by it and even Sasuke started to distance himself from us. There was this haunted look in his eyes after each session, he always had a sad expression when he looked at Naruto.

There was one day that Karin had demanded that he tell them what is going on and Naruto attacked when she grabbed Sasuke by the shoulders. We never saw them again after that and shortly after, we were released from the program. The lab set us up with a place to live and sent us to school, aside from the monthly cheques we haven't heard from them since. But Suigetsu saw what was going on in one of the private sessions before we left when he was looking for Sasuke, demanding he comes with us. He said very little about what he saw and refuses to speak about it even now."

"Get out," he spoke again softly.

They looked at him with concern and Kiba rested a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry about it man we will figure this shit out."

Sasuke hastily slapped his hand away, wheeled around to face them both. "I said get out!," his hands were shaking at his sides.

Kiba wanted to say something more but Juugo interrupted him and they both left with Sasuke slamming the door behind them.

"Just leave him for now, Itachi can handle him when he gets here," he rested a hand on Kiba's shoulder.

"Fucking drama queen," Kiba signed.

A/N: Hello readers, we are coming to the conclusion of this story but as I kept writing and reworking it, I am going to split it up into a couple more chapters. Thanks to everyone who has commented and keeps coming back. I know my updates are spaced out by years and this one taking much longer than other updates. I'm going to work on getting the next chapter out much, much sooner.
