Storybrooke (Present)

A couple of days later, Alice is sitting in Granny's eating a burger and fries. And when Ruby walks over, on a break.

"Hey, so have you stopped by the hospital to see Ashley and the baby.?"

Alice sighs, exasperated, "Ruby, you know I hate babies and all children in general. And she was mean- I was carrying her ass and she was still insulting me. I think I first need to get rid of the emotional scars."

"That is such bullshi-," Ruby starts when the ground starts shaking.

Once it stops, Alice looks around and then goes back to eating.

Ruby, starts looking panicked, and exclaims in fear, "Oh my god Alice! What was that?"

"How should I know?"

Ruby continues, ignoring her, "Do you think it was an earthquake?"

"Does Maine even have earthquakes?"

Everyone starts running outside towards something and Ruby follows. She stops however when she notices Alice isn't following her.

"Alice come on, don't you wanna see what's going on?"

Alice looks at her blandly, "No, I'm eating."

"Alice! Just eat later!"

"Whatever happened will still be there by the time I'm done; my food however will get cold."

Ruby groans and moves towards where the crowd is, "You're ridiculous."

"That's nice."

Later when Alice finally finishes eating she stands up and grabs her soda. Then she walks around the counter and grabs a to-go-cup, pours the soda in there and leaves.

When she walks through the door she mutters to herself, "You know Granny is lucky Ruby's my friend, or I would have just stolen everything out of her register. Honestly what kind of morons just leaves their business unattended?"

As Alice starts walking towards the commotion, she notices everyone surrounding a tunnel entrance.

She looks to her right and watches as Henry, Emma, and Archie walk towards one of the cruisers.

As she starts walking towards them, Henry sees her, grins, and then waves her over.

She makes her way over and stops next to Emma.

"Hey."

Emma looks over and raises her eyebrow, "Where were you?"

"Granny's, I was in the middle of eating."

"The ground was shaking."

"I was hungry."

Emma sighs and rolls her eyes. She's in the middle of turning back to Henry when Alice suddenly asks, "Want some?" while holding her drink out.

Emma sighs again, but then stops, "Yeah actually, I'm kinda thirsty."

Alice smirks at her, knowing she was annoying her before, and hands her drink to her.

While they were talking Henry was staring at them with a furrowed brow.

Noticing his stare they both turn and, at the same time, say, "What?"

"It's just I forgot how similar you two looked. When you stand next to each other, it's really obvious."

Alice sighs, looking bored, and turns to Emma, who just shrugs in response.

Archie finally speaks up from where he was and says, "You know he's right, you two do look a lot alike."

Henry jumps in again, "Yeah and you both have this weird thing were you wear basically the same thing every day."

"But my coat's cooler." "But my jacket's cooler." They both said at the same time.

They then turned and glared at each other before saying simultaneously, "No it's not!"

Archie then interjects, "Girls! Stop. Now Henry, why did you pull us over here?"

Alice and Emma turn and huff at each other before looking at Henry to see what he will say.

"Right. This requires all of Operation Cobra."

Alice sigh and rolls her eyes, "Oh great! The snake thing again."

As she turns around to walk away, Emma grabs her coat and gives her a look.

"Ugh fine. What did the magical fairies tell you today Henry?", she asks, sarcasm driving in her voice.

Archie looks at her, "Now Alice let him talk", before turning back to the young boy, "go ahead Henry."

"My Mom wants to close the tunnels. We can't let her though. What if there's something down there?"

"Don't care."

Emma ignores Alice and instead says, "They're just some old tunnels."

Alice furrows her brow, "Why are there tunnels beneath the town?"

Emma turns towards to her, "Marco said they were for mining."

"People mine in Maine? I thought we were the crab people."

"That's not important guys, what is though is that it just happens to collapse right after you get here," Henry exclaims pointing at Emma." You're changing things. You're weakening the curse."

Alice raises a brow, "Or they just collapsed, 'cause you know, that's what non-crazy people think."

Emma elbows her in the side, but she just ignores it.

"I'm not crazy Alice!"

"Really? 'Cause you sound pretty crazy to me."

"You always say I'm crazy! I hate it when you do that."

"Okay, how about this? If you can present an argument that this is actually a town full of fairytale characters, without sounding like a Disney commercial, and then we'll talk."

"Emma is the savior-"

Alice makes a buzzing noise, "Wow that was fast, you already lost- saying savior makes it sound like a straight to DVD Disney movie."

Henry starts looking looks frustrated, and right as he's about to speak again, Regina walks over.

"Henry, I told you to wait in the car.! Deputy, do your job. And Alice," she falters, confused and then relieved, "actually, for once, you're not doing anything wrong, never mind."

Alice shrugs and follows Emma as she walks off.

As their walking Emma glances at her, "You know, you don't have to be so hard on him. He gets enough from his Mom."

"Whoa, Regina is not nearly as harsh with him. Trust me on that."

Emma gives her a glare and stops walking, "Look Alice, you need to lay off him. He really believes that stuff and you can't just repeatedly put him down about it."

"I didn't realize you joined in his belief. Should I start calling you two the delusional duo?"

"Alice I'm not kidding. Knock it off. Why do you always get so harsh when it comes to that anyway?"

"It's not that I don't believe it, it could actually be possible- I mean, how the hell would I know? I do it because it's just fun to see him so frustrated."

"Are you kidding me?"

"What? I'm like the mean older sister."

"You're like the sadistic older sister."

"Either way. So, why did Regina call you Deputy? Did she accidentally call you one of your secret sexual names for each other?"

Emma's eyes widen comically and she practically screeches, "What?!"

"Oh, did that not happen yet? Never mind then." As she's done talking, Alice starts walking off, while leaving Emma stareing confused and wide-eyed.

Later that day Alice is walking around town when she sees Henry go attempt to inconspicuously sneak into the tunnel.

"What the hell is that kid doing?"

Alice runs over towards the tunnel and looks for Henry.

She runs in and keeps going until she finds him, about fifty feet in already.

"How the hell did he get so far?"

She runs up to him and grabs his bag.

"Henry! What the fuck are you doing? The play grounds that way?" Alice says, while pointing towards the tunnel entrance.

Henry's eyes widen in fear, but then turn into an angry glare, "Alice! What are you doing here?" he whispers harshly.

"When I see idiotic brats walk into dangerous situations I would usually just ignore it, but if I did, both your mothers would kill me."

"I don't need your help Alice. Both you and Archie think I'm just crazy."

"Brat, look where you are," she exclaims as she says this she gestures around, "What sane person decides to go play in an easily collapsible tunnel?!"

Henry looks around and actually looks slightly doubtful for a moment, but then his eyes again fill with determination.

"I need to find what my Mom's hiding!"

"What you 'need' is to get the fuck out of this tunnel."

"Alice, no!"

"This is not a yes or no question. It's an, 'okay Alice, you're right, I'm being incredibly stupid, let's go' kind of question."

Henry begins protesting again when Alice finally decides to just pick him up over her shoulder and carry him out.

Henry starts beating his fists on her back and she starts jogging to the entrance. "No! Alice put me down!"

As they're walking, Henry's bag falls off his shoulder.

"Alice! My bag!"

"I don't care, be quiet."

"But, my stuff is in there!"

"Oh my god, really!? Oh wait, never mind, I still don't care."

Henry's voice trembles, and his eyes swell up with tears , "Why are you being so mean? Why are you always so mean? Why do you hate me?"

"Hey! Drama queen, knock it off! I obviously at least slightly care, I'm carrying you through a fucking tunnel...You know I seem to be carrying people a lot lately," she adds as an afterthought.

"But you're always so mean to me!" Henry whines.

"You mean I don't let you get away with murder, like your mother and Emma?"

"You know how strict my Mom is!"

"Oh yeah, 'cause everyone makes a detour to Boston on the way to school, steals someone's credit card and then comes back to be grounded for like a week."

"That was an exception!"

"That was an example. Now be quiet, I think we're almost there."

"Alice please, you have to listen. There's this glass stuff- I don't know what it is, but my Mom wants to keep it hidden."

"Henry!" "Henry!"

Alice ignores him, straining to listen to the calls echoing in the tunnels, "Sounds like Emma and Archie. I guess they figured out you were coming here."

Just as they were coming up to the entrance the ground starts to shake and Alice's eyes widen.

"Shit!"

They were almost there when Alice noticed the rocks on the ceiling were starting to crumble above.

"You fucking owe me for this Henry!"

"Wait, Alice what, what are you doing?!"

She pays him no mind, grabs him and yells "Catch!"

She throws him as far as she can, which, it turns out, is into Archie, who was on his way in, causing them to fall and pile together right next to Emma.

Just as the tunnel entrance was about to collapse, Alice dives back and hits her head on the ground before going becoming unconscious.

Outside of the mine, Emma helps Henry stand and pulls him into a tight hug.

"Henry! Thank god! We were so worried. I'm so glad you made it back in time before the entrance collapsed."

Archie then stands up and walks over to Henry, appraising him to make sure he was alright.

"Henry I thought I heard another voice. Was someone else there?"

Henry finally lifts his head and they see tears streaming down his face.

"It's all my fault! I should have just listened!"

By now, most of the citizens of the small town have gathered around, the sounds of the collapse drawing the crowd.

Graham's cruiser pulls up, and after a few moments so does Regina's car.

They both make their way over, Regina running uncomfortably in her heels, and Graham in long strides, worry on both their faces.

Regina takes in Henry's tear streaked face and then Emma's confused expression. She speaks before anyone else can get anything out.

"Henry, what are you doing here and why are you crying? What's going on?"

"Mom it's my fault. I didn't mean for it to happen." Henry starts sobbing again curling against his mother.

Regina wraps her arms round tightly around her son, and turns to Emma, but she's also just staring at Henry waiting for him to continue.

"Henry, what happened? Whatever you did, we can't fix it if you don't tell us."

"I went in the tunnel. I just wanted to prove there was something there," Regina's eyes widen and just as she's about to start yelling at him he goes on, "I made it pretty far, wh-when Alice she came running from behind me."

At that, both Emma and Regina look at each other, panicked.

Emma then turns towards him with terror filled eyes, "Is that the voice Archie heard?!"

Henry goes on in a daze, as if not hearing them, and the whole town behind is quiet, straining to hear the terse conversation.

"She tried to make me leave, but I kept arguing with her. When I still wouldn't go, she picked me up and carried me over her shoulder towards the entrance."

Both Emma and Regina look at each other their expressions mirroring, the other terror mixed with bewilderment at Alice's actions.

"I tried to make her go back, but she ignored me," Regina mutters a quiet good with Emma slightly nodding in agreement, "When we were almost there, the tunnel started shaking and she sped up. Just before the entrance, she threw me to Archie. And right after, the entrance collapsed! I'm sorry; it's all my fault, now she could be dead in there because of me."

Everyone in hearing range's eyes widen.

Regina looks at Henry dumbfounded, "Oh my god. I don't know who I'm angrier at- you for going into that tunnel in the first place, or Alice for having to play hero and getting herself hurt! Henry, let's hope Alice is okay, because what you did was so dangerous, it could have gotten either one of you killed."

Henry looks down in shame and Emma just stands there silently agreeing with everything Regina said.

She steps up next to Regina and says quietly, "I don't know whether I'm going to hug her or kill her when I see her."

Regina nods in agreement, before they both turn towards each other and start trying to figure out what to do.

Meanwhile back in the tunnel, Alice was finally starting to slowly wake up.

"Shit. What happened?" Alice sits up slightly and then grabs her head in pain.

"Owww! Dammit!" Pulling her hand back, she sees that it's covered in blood.

Slowly getting up she looks around and remembers how she threw Henry. "Oh god, why did I do that?"

After a moment of thought, she decides it a combination of not wanting Regina and Emma killing her, along with what Emma said to her that morning.

"She better not ever tell me to lighten up on him again. I swear to god, this gives me years of free passes with that damn brat. He probably won't live that long anyway, 'cause I'm gonna kill him."

As Alice stands, she reaches in to her pocket and takes out her phone.

"Great, no bars. How cliché, trapped alone with no cell service. And I'm almost out of battery, I forgot to charge it last night, fuck me."

She puts on the flashlight on her phone.

She starts walking when she feels blood trickling down her head. Remembering her how bad it was bleeding, she grabs the bottom of her shirt and tears a strip off around.

"The one day I decide to wear a tank top. Now I'm wearing a fucking crop top instead of just making my shirt sleeveless."

She grabs the strip, ties it around her head, and puts it over the gash at her hairline.

After checking to make sure it's secure, she starts walking further in to see if there's another way out.

"How far does this go? There can't just be one entrance."

She keeps walking when she comes across Henry's backpack. Picking it up and looking through, she finds a flash light and sighs in relief.

Turning off the one on her phone, she turns Henry's on and puts the bag on her shoulders. She then continues to walk.

Alice was walking for a while when she comes across a hole and shines her light down into it.

"It's shiny, must be what Henry was talking about."

She contemplates investigating further before deciding against it, and keeps walking forward.

"God I'm bored, there's not even someone I can make sarcastic witty comments towards."

She keeps walking when she hears the muted sound of dog barks.

"Why is there a dog in here? Wait that makes no sense. Maybe it's outside somewhere."

Alice takes a step to continue when she stumbles slightly and grabs on to the wall for balance.

"Fuck, this is getting hard to ignore. I better hurry. I don't know how bad this concussion is."

Looking down at herself she sees her jeans slightly torn in random places from where she got snagged on rocks and her once white tank top now dirty and a crop top. The only plus is that her coat is still in perfect condition, though she has no idea how.

"Do I look ridiculous, or hot? I honestly can't tell anymore."

As Alice moves forward, she puts her hand up to her head and brings it back bloody.

"Great, I ruined my shirt for nothing; it's barely stopping the blood flow."

She looks up again and continues walking. After a couple hundred more feet, she finally sees something up ahead.

"Please tell me I'm not hallucinating due to blood loss and there's actually something there."

She makes her way slowly and sees that it's an old elevator and the noise of the barking dog is coming from above it.

"Oh fuck, finally something different, you know how boring it got going from rock to slightly different looking rock? It was very disorienting…Who am I talking to, there's no one here?"

Alice examines the elevator and sees a wheel.

"This probably makes it go up and down," she wonders out loud.

As Alice attempts to turn it, she gets dizzy and grabs on to the side, holding her head.

She groans in pain and frustration, "Let's make this quick, shall we?"

When she tries to turn the wheel, her hand slips. Looking down, she sees both her hands covered in blood. She puts them down and wipes them on her jeans, trying to get it off. When she pulls her hands back up she also wipes them on her shirt, to make sure she got as much as possible.

She goes to try the wheel again and when she starts turning it, she yelps at the sharp stings she feels and pulls her hands back.

Looking down, she realizes her hands also have gashes on them.

"Oh come on! It's probably from when I had to catch myself on some rocks."

She kicks the elevator in frustration. "Fuck!"

Sitting down inside she looks at her hands and then understands why there was so much blood before as they already started bleeding profusely.

She thinks for a moment, and takes Henry's bag off to see if there's anything useful inside.

She opens it and all she sees is candy bars.

"What. The. Fuck. He just brought candy bars and a flashlight! When I get out of here, I swear, I am going to kill him!"

She looks down at her hands and sees they're starting to drip.

Alice tilts her head back, "I think wiping it on my jeans made it worse."

She thinks for a moment before groaning and looking down at herself. With a sigh and a great amount of annoyance she finally takes her jacket off. She then proceeds to take what's left of her tank top off.

"Since when does get stuck in a tunnel turn into, take off your clothes? This is ridiculous."

After a loud groan and a huff of annoyance she grabs her shirt and rips off two strips for her hands.

After wrapping them she looks back at her shirt and sees that it wouldn't be even enough for half of her chest.

She throws it while saying,"Awesome."

After a moment she stands and puts her coat on trying to cover herself.

"Well at least my bra's black so you can't see the bloodstains. Just what every girl wants to say once in their life."

Alice finally goes back towards the wheel to try again. Just as she gets over to it, she hears an explosion that shakes the tunnel causing her to lose her balance and fall.

"I hate this town."

She sits up and leans back again on the rail.

Alice groans and tries to straighten herself.

"This is why I don't do heroic. I'm sitting in a tunnel elevator, bleeding, shirtless, and with a concussion. I should have known better, Henry wants to go play in the tunnel. Fine, fuck him, if he wants to die, it's his own problem."

She blinks her eyes and tries to sit up again, knowing not to fall asleep.

"I try to drive Ashley to Boston; I have to carry a fucking pregnant woman who knows how far, while getting insulted repeatedly."

Alice looks down at her hands to see the blood going through the binding.

"Great. But when I do something bad. Like when Ashley broke in to Gold's- and I just stood there, I got funny pictures and was off scot-free to enjoy my night."

She huffs out a laugh, "If Regina really is the Evil Queen like Henry always says, I can see why. Being the hero sucks, I'd rather be the villain. It seems like more fun anyway. Cause right now the hero seems to be losing, and if I do get out it's gonna be a real shitty win."

Alice sighs and after a moment of silence starts singing, "Secret tunnel, secret tunnel, secret tunnel…"

After singing for a while, a rock falls next to her.

Alice stops singing and when she looks up to see a light, she then starts yelling, "I better be getting rescued or dying, cause either way, I wanna get out of here!"

After moments of silence, she finally sees Emma start getting lowered down.

Emma obviously hearing her, calls back, "Alice, are you okay?!"

She leans her head back against the rail again and yells back, her voice tired, "More or less."

Emma finally makes it down all the way to Alice and her eyes widen in shock when she sees her.

"So on a scale of one to ten, how do I look? I'm thinking a solid nine."

"Alice oh my god, what happened?!"

Alice looks around at her surroundings and then back at Emma with an eyebrow raised, "I was trapped in a tunnel."

"You're bleeding all over the place and… are you shirtless?"

"I was hoping a strip tease would satisfy the tunnel and it would let me out."

"What?"

"I used it to try to stop the blood genius."

"Oh. Alright, anyway, I'm gonna get you out of here, okay."

"Well I was hoping you didn't just stop by for a chat."

Emma sighs and crouches down in front of Alice to help her up. Once she's standing to her full height, Emma then hugs her.

"I'm glad you're okay Alice."

Alice stands there for a moment leaning slightly into her from exhaustion.

"I'm glad I'm not claustrophobic."

"You really know how to ruin a moment Alice."

"Can we have moments above ground?"

Emma grabs her and then makes sure she won't fall, before tugging on the rope a few times to signal to let her up.

After a few moments of silence Emma says, "You're a lot lighter than I thought you'd be."

"Are you saying I look fat?"

"No, you're just pretty tall for a girl."

"Not really, just 5'9."

"Taller than me and I'm pretty sure its above average."

While still waiting to get to the top, Alice speaks up, "This is taking a ridiculously long time."

"Well I could put you back down if you'd like."

"Might as well, by the time we get up there I'll probably have died of blood loss."

Emma sighs and rolls her eyes, but then slightly smiles, happy to hear the smart ass comments again.

When they finally make it up above ground, there some of the firemen help them up.

Alice tries to stand, but wobbles slightly and has to lean on Emma for support, grumbling and cursing the blood loss and the tunnels and Henry.

After everyone gets a good look at her, their eyes widen.

At seeing the looks, she turns her head towards Emma and says, "Let me guess- giving myself a nine was a little generous."

"Yeah, just a little."

After a few moments she notices some of the people looking at her chest, and remembers she doesn't have her shirt on.

"Emma can you close my coat?"

Emma looks up and glances around noticing the looks Alice was getting. She then gives them all a venomous glare and closes Alice's coat for her.

Alice turns and smirks at her, "Thanks."

When they finally start moving, Emma puts a protective arm around Alice's shoulder and brings her over to an ambulance.

Alice was just sitting down so an EMT could look her over when Regina and Henry appear.

Regina rushes towards her first and hugs her, "Thank god! I was so worried."

"What, why? Can't you see I'm just dandy?"

Regina frets over her for a moment before saying, "Why don't you ever say what you're actually thinking Alice?"

"Why don't you?"

Henry then comes up from behind Regina, and when he sees her condition, his eyes widen in fear and guilt.

"Alice I'm so sorry! None of this would have happened if I just listened to you! It's all my fault!"

Alice blankly stares at him for a moment, making him step back in nervousness.

"Yes, it is."

Both Emma and Regina's eyes widen at her bluntness.

Just as they're about to say something Alice goes on.

"If you hadn't been so stubborn and stupid, all of this could have been prevented. Listening to me or not, even going in the tunnel in the first place would have saved a lot of people trouble and me from almost dying."

Henry starts crying again. Emma and Regina, who were starting to look angry and about to blow up at her, are interrupted before the can say a word.

"You're not going to do anything that stupid again are you?" Henry frantically shakes his head in denial, "Now do you realize that your actions have consequences, and you can't just decide to do whatever you want without thought?"

At that, Henry starts furiously nodding, "Yes, I'm sorry Alice, you're right, I promise I'll remember what I do can affect others."

"Good, you're forgiven, now go home."

Henry starts walking away towards Regina's car, while Emma and Regina look at her in wonder.

"You guys can't just tell him 'it was an accident don't worry about it', especially when what he causes is this big. He needs to know that what he does has an effect on more than just him sometimes."

Emma and Regina still just stare at her.

After a moment Regina finally asks, "Why are you shirtless?"

Alice sighs in annoyance before holding up her hands and saying, "My hands and head were bleeding and I needed to stop the flow somehow. Oh that reminds me, can you teach the brat basic survival? His bag literally had one flashlight and like ten candy bars."

At that Regina pinches the bridge of her nose and Emma smiles slightly in amusement.
