"Ulrich? What is it? Cat got your tongue?" Yumi asked again.
I still didn't know what to do. What should I say? If I tell her the truth she might think I'm insane. If I prove it she might be frightened.
"Hey, you can tell me anything." She smiled as she put her arm on my shoulder.
"I, well, think you can go for a walk Yumi?" I sighed still unsure of what I was going to say but knowing that I couldn't do it in front of any other humans.
She quickly stood up and motioned for us to go out the window. Against my better judgment, I stood up and decided it was now or never.
"Do you trust me Yumi?"
"Well, yeah why?" She asked.
"Hop on my back then?" Her face turned bright red. I couldn't completely read her expression but if I had to take a guess I would say she was confused.
"Um, okay." She replied a bit shaky as she hopped on my back. I was nervous because I didn't know how she would react. Hopefully well.
"Ready?" I asked as I opened up the window. "Hold on tight." I sighed as I took one last deep breath and jumped out the window. Not wanting to be seen by any other humans I ran as fast as I could towards the forest by the school. Usually a twenty-minute walk, however, with my speed we got there in a minute.
"You okay Yumi?" I asked as I placed her on the ground. She looked extremely pale.
"I, yeah. I just need to sit down for a bit," was all she managed to say. She looked confused as she stared off into the distance. I simply nodded and helped her sit down.
I decided to sit by her silently as I waited for her to speak. I'm not sure what's going to happen now. All I am sure of is that I am ready to tell Yumi everything I know.
"So you're basically an alien coming to Earth to take over? Why haven't you done anything then?" Yumi shouted as she stood up quickly.
"I, well yeah I guess so. Like I said, my orders were to find out as much as I could about humans. I don't know why we are trying to invade Earth, all I know is what I told you. Please don't be mad. I decided to tell you because well, I'm not quite sure what it is but I've got these, feelings for you. I've never felt anything like it before, in fact, up until I met you I didn't know that I could feel these things for anyone or anything." I felt my face burning up again as soon as I finished. I couldn't even look her in the eyes anymore so all I did was look at her feet. It's times like these I wish I could read her mind.
Suddenly, just as I was going to meet her eyes, she ran towards me and met her lips with mine. It felt great. Her warm lips against my cold lips. She wrapped her arms around me as I picked her up and began to move my lips in sync with hers. I was genuinely enjoying myself when she hopped off almost frightened.
"What is it Yumi?"
"Didn't you hear that?" I had no idea what she was talking about. I was way too focused on what was going on between her and I. As I looked around I realized what was happening. The Commander was coming, he was here to meet with us. I couldn't let him see me with Yumi. There was no way that would end well.
"Yumi we gotta go."
"What's going on Ulrich?"
"Yumi just hop on now! I'll explain later." She simply nodded on hopped on. I ran as fast as I could towards her house and dropped her back off in her room. I couldn't risk The Commander seeing me alone with her. He might want to take her and there is no way I would let that happen. I simply wrapped my arms around her and met my lips with hers one last time before taking off back to my current home.
"So nice of you to join us." The Commander greeted as I walked through the door.
"Hello, sir." I greeted. I took a seat by Odd as quickly as possible. Without the need to ask, I read Odd's mind and figured out that they were here to get answers. To find out what we know and what we've been doing.
"So Ulrich, you find out anything useful?"
"No sir, but, I am a bit curious about the motives surrounding this invasion? What is it that we want from Earth?" I asked and immediately felt a glare from everyone in the room. I sighed as I waited for the answer, however, while I had never tried it on our leaders, I figured I might as well give it a go. I looked at our commander as I waited for an answer in hopes of being able to read his mind. Sure enough, I was in.
"Well, that's confidential but I'll give you a brief summary without going into too many details, all we want is to learn more about them so that we a few of us can inhabit Earth full time in case humans become a threat to us someday. You know, they keep advancing with their technology that one day we think they may be able to take over our planet. We'd like to strike first, for the good of our people." He smiled as he finished and I simply played along and nodded even though I knew all he just said was a bunch of lies.
"Right well, keep me posted, we'll be lurking around Earth for a couple of days, we're hoping to speed this up so you guys can get back to our home as soon as possible." With that, he disappeared. He couldn't have left soon enough. I had to tell Jeremy and Odd what was going on now. There's no way they would be on board if they knew what I just heard.
