VII: Confrontations

Shane was waiting for the three of them. Harry grinned at Shane mockingly. "Found bits and pieces. Not much but enough for a day or two if we push."

"What about guns?" Asked Shane.

"Is that all you care about? Guns, guns, guns and guns?" Demanded Harry, pulling out his Glock and pointed it at Shane, deactivating the safety.

"You really going to kill me, kid?" Mocked Shane.

"Don't tempt me..." Harry growled his eyes turning yellow.

"HARRY! DON'T YOU DARE!" Harry lowered the gun at the sound of Katie's voice. Harry looked at her, his eyes turning back to green.

"I know you really want to put a bullet in his head, I do to. But I won't have you turning into a Tom Riddle." She said, Harry looked at her, cold green eyes stared in into warm brown.

"Think of Sophia..." Those words did it, Harry handed her the Glock and the several other weapons he had on his person and his backpack.

"I found someone, Katie. Neville." The brunetted turned her eyes widened.

"You didn't bring him here?" She exclaimed.

Harry snorted "He declined...Though he did tell me something interesting about this dilemma. Although with the state of things, I'm not telling. Where is Sophia anyway?"

Katie's eyes flickered around the camp, not seeing her, Dale or Carl she began to worry. "Carol, have you seen Carl, Dale or Sophia?" Carol shook her head.

"I saw Carl heading towards the woods, closest to the barn...Rick did you see where Carl went?" Rick shrugged.

"He mentioned something about going on a walk."

Harry made his way over "Katie, Lori, Rick. I've searched the entire camp no sign of them."

"Harry, can I ask you to go looking for them?" Asked Carol, urgently.

Harry nodded, he checked his forearm and his knife was in position and with a flick of his hand, he focused. The locator charm his godfather had keyed to his penlife flickered, revealing Sophia hadn't gone far.

Harry spun on his heel, forcing his magic into the vaccuum at slower rate, he vanished without a sound. He appeared above Sophia, with a slight pop as she said "Harry is definitely going to kill me for this..."

"Kill you? Definitely not, however I am dissapointed in you." A whispered voice rang out, the three humans turned around to see Harry standing right behind them. Harry pulled out his knife and he surged forwards.

Carl dived out the way as the Three assembled Walkers launched themselves at the black haired teen. Harry swayed to one side as the first Walker rushed at him. The second Walker, he spun around and booted it into the first walker.

The two went down in a mess of moaning and groaning limbs. The final one had its hands on Harry, its face coming down onto his arm ready to bite. "Not...Today!" Harry roared squarely booting it right between the legs.

Zombie or Human, it doesn't matter. The effect is still the same, the targeted person drops like a sack of shit. Harry deftly ended the Walkers with three precise knife strikes to the brain. "I didn't get bit...But I did get flashy. Carl, Sophia that is why in this scenario acting first and thinking last is a guaranteed either near fatal or fatal."

The four of them raced out of the woods, but not before Harry levitated the corpses, tossed them onto the mud and burnt the bodies.

The four survivors cleared the forest. "Sophia, you and Carl go ahead. Give the pocket knife to your mother. Tell her you're restricted from it until you know why you didn't tell me what you were doing." Harry ordered.

"Carl, give Shane the handgun. I know, you saw others and I am asking you as the young man you are to not tell anyone about what you saw in Daryl's bag." Carl nodded and the pair ran off leaving grandfather and grandson to talk.

"I suppose its time for us to chat, I mean properly about why I was so neglectful." Dale stated looking every bit of his sixty four years of age.

"I Dale Horvarth, do swear on my honour that everything I say is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth." Harry knew his grandfather enough to know that Dale swore truthfully, they would both get the answers.

"When you were born, your grandmother and I were staying at your Aunts place. When you were left on the doorstep, after your aunt screamed the house down. Irma and I said we'd take you back to the states...However the moment we said that, some old guy barged his way in introduced himself as Albus Dumbledore. Said that it was your sdestiny to grow up with your aunt and if we wanted any way to see you we had to leave you there."

Harry's eyes narrowed, he was going to kill Dumbledore when they arrived on the next great adventure.

"I still have more to say. He cast some spells and called them 'slight attitude alterations' cast some spell on Irma and myself. But for some reason, probably because I have magical heritage as well because your great-great-great-grandfather was a sorceror, he specialised in mind magics...Anyway, the spells wore off but to keep up the ruse we left you at your Aunt and Uncles. However we said, we would look after you if you came to visit...You did visit several times but each time you arrived, you were stunned and sent back their and each time I saw that same man.

When you were allowed to come over briefly, before your fourth year, I told you that I had been in contact with your godfather and through some blackmail, skullduggery I was able to become your magical guardian..."

Harry's memories were now beginning to click "...That's why you were able to come to Hogwarts. You made up some bullshit of having incredibly powerful mind magic but not much else. Now I understand why you taught me to shoot and use a knife. Wanted me to be able to defend myself if Dumbledore tried anything. What were you going to do to Dumbledore?" He asked curiously.

Dale grinned harshly "You know how I served in United Stated Military as a Marine and then as a Ranger...I picked up a few tricks, such as poisoning, sniping and hand to hand combat. I was half tempted to try and assassinate Dumbledore."

Harry smirked at Dale's honesty "If we had this conversation earlier, I would have helped. But I would have got cold feet. But now if that bastard had survived our expedition, I would have gladly kill him myself in the final battle. Besides he ordered me to keep my relationship with Katie hidden."

The pair walked back still discussing the wrong doings of a senile old man, who believed himself to be a messiah. "One thing is for certain Life's a piece of shit, when we look at it. Its supposed to be a laugh with death a joke and the last joke being on you." Dale said light heartedly making Harry grin and laugh, a proper laugh and grin that according to his grandparents got the girls to swoon.

Katie, had just left the RV leaving Sophia sitting at the table with Andrea, who was reassembling and dissembling her pistol. "What's got the pair of you so happy?" She asked, placing her hand on Harry's shoulder.

Harry pulled her into a hug "We hate an old man with twinkling eyes and a holier than thou attitude. Once this is dealt with, we'll head to England and dance a jig on his grave." Katie snorted and kissed Harry on the forehead.

"Harry, can I speak to you quickly?" Harry turned to find Carol making her way over to the three of them.

"Sure, what is it?"

"What have you taught my girl? What are you going to teach her?" Demanded Carol brandishing Harry's knife at his throat.

Harry smirked "To survive, kill walkers, what I know of math, science and herbs. What will I teach her? How to shoot, track, punch, kick and how to trust her nose and ears when her eyes are not available." Harry stepped aroud Carol and gently squeezed her wrist dropping the knife.

"All I did there was manipulate nerves...Give that to Sophia in four days." Harry instructed, Carol nodded. Since Harry turned up and began shifting his weight with Katie hardly anyone and that included the Greene family could find a fault with him.

Shane hated Harry, due to the fact the teen always seemed to be three steps ahead of him. The kid had to go somehow. It was then it clicked, Shane was pretty sure he could kill the boy if they were attacked by a herd. 'Make it look like an accident.' Shane smirked evilly.

Later on that night, Maggie slipped a note to Glenn, Harry winked. Glenn looked down and quickly read 'Where next?', Glenn hastily scribelled 'The barn?'.

Maggie stiffened slightly, not enough for Glenn notice, but Hershel, Rick, Shane, Harry, Dale and Daryl noticed. "Hershel's concealing something.' Was the unison thought.

"Maggie, what are you exactly keeping in the barn?" Asked Rick conversationally.

"Rick, its nothing. A superstition. They say the barn is haunted...Let the children have their superstitions." Hershel said firmly putting his foot down.

Daryl snorted as did Shane. If anyone Shane hated more than Harry, it was the redneck. Daryl however pulled his weight and was valuable with his crossbow unlike Harry. Shane only accepted Harry into his group, yeah he saw the group as his as he had gathered everyone together. Harry was only accepted because of Dale, who Shane was planning on killing off.

Shane shook his head, dispersing the thoughts. Katie smirked, she studied mind reading or legilimency over the summer. She was now at the skill where she could scan a muggle with next to no skill at will.

"Harry, I need to speak to you behind the house." She said, Harry nodded, this was a little code between the two of them. The pair had created it when Harry was trying to find out just how deep the Deatyh Eaters had infiltrated the school.

The dinner had been a simple one of a small salad and tinned ham. It wasn't much but enough to give the survivors a sense of normalcy if only for a while.

Soon enough everyone was making their way either to bed or to the campsite. Sophia came and left with her mother, the same as Carl. "Sophia, you know why I've done what I've done?" Asked Harry as Sophia walked away.

Harry didn't catch a verbal answer but he did see a nod. He quickly slid into the shadows and made his way to the back of the house. Katie jumped, when Harry wrapped his shadow covered arms around her waist befoe kissing her neck. "I couldn't resist love. Now what was it that you wanted to tell me?"

Katie snuggled against her boyfriends chest. Ever since Harry had been able to visit America since he was thirteen, Dale, Sirius and Madam Pompfrey had been slipping nutrient and supplement potions and pills to increase his height. Also being a Potter, meant they tended to be on the short side until they hit fourteen or fifteen. However Harry was shorter than most and with the aid of the supplements and his genetics, he skyrocketed in height.

He would never be 6'2 like the Weasley males save Bill, Charlie and Arthur but standing just shy of 6' was in his opinion brilliant. Plus him being able to stand a good six inches over his girlfriend also helped his esteem.

"Haz, I think Shane is going to try and assassinate you, Dale and Rick soon. His thoughts were pure black for a muggle." She whispered burying her head into him.

"Now lets see what got Glenn's Greene in a tizzy." Harry whispered causing Katie to grin.

The pair vanished, Katie under a disullionment charm and Harry using his paternal grandmothers families skill in wandless shadow manipulation to cloak himself. Most Noble and Ancient, Ancient and Noble and Revered Ancient houses had a connection to the elements. The Potters were closely linked to Wind, Fire and Shadows. Wind by genetics, Fire by the amount of terrifying women they for and Shadows by several generations of Potters marrying into the infamous Revered House of Black.

The two of them crossed the farm and scaled the ladder to the top shortly followed by Glenn. The pair slowly became visible as Glenn scrambled up the ladder. "What are you two doing here?" He whispered laying out the crash mats.

"Not here to spy on you and Maggie but...THE HELL!" Harry hissed flattening himself and Katie to the floor. The three crept along the top of the barn and peered down into the main barn.

"Holy shit." Gasped Glenn.

"Merlin help us." Shivered Katie.

"Rick needs to know." Harry intoned.

The three peered down onto a barn filled with Walkers.
