A/N: So I decided to include the little treat in the middle since I was kind of mean leaving a cliffhanger last chapter. I had that tidbit actually for a while, but didn't know where I'd put it... Hope y'all enjoy.
As always, reviews and CC are appreciated. Even just dropping a PM. 3
Cheers, HMB

"So Asami, eh? She's had a crush on you for ages and you really had no clue?" Su was in a teasing mood; she wasn't about to let her sister just waltz in here and have all the fun. She started to limber up in the atrium, her older counterpart following suit.
"I was with Korra! And I was in love with Korra, if you've forgotten!" Lin's face started to redden, from both embarrassment and frustration.
"I certainly couldn't with all the noise you two used to make..."
The older sister began to say something, but decided against it. She recognized a losing fight. Su doesn't need more ammunition.
"But Lin, really, her heart jumps every time you step into the room! I thought she was scared of you for years! You can't tell me you never noticed!" The former chief was getting uncharacteristically flustered with every progressive jab at her ego.
"Of course I did but… Spirits… Damnit, Su, you're going to regret that!" She grounded her stance and punched the air, which sent a small piece of earth flying towards her younger sister, commencing their planned training.
FLASHBACK
The older woman grinned as she leaned into her lover's ear, "Do you know how long I've been waiting to fuck you?" Korra blushed at her crude use of language. It's not that she didn't curse, or that she had never heard it, but Korra knew she saved it for special occasions.
The slowly unraveling Avatar moaned as the former Chief pushed harder into her, thinking of all the dirty things she probably had on her mind. Korra blushed at one particularly exciting and dangerous thought, "Mmm, Lin, your sister is going to hear us!" Her back arched into an unreasonable angle and the older woman saw it as an opportunity to pull at the Avatars' already unbuttoned pants. Korra felt a chill throughout her body, realizing the metalbender had successfully gotten her down to her undergarments.
Lin parted the Avatar's legs, crawling between them before attempting to unwrap Korra's pesky bindings. "She has six adult children, all living in Zaofu with their significant others. I think she can handle her sister shagging the Avatar." She continued to kiss every inch of newly exposed skin, making her way down to nip at her lover's heaving chest, before leaning capture another kiss with the beautiful young woman beneath her.
Ugh, she makes it hard to think. Lin ground into her harder, her hips pushing in the opposite direction involuntarily against the former chief. She felt her experienced calloused hands inching their way to her panties. Bataar Jr, Huan, Wing, Wei, Opal… who was left?
"Wait, six?"
Lin was a little confused as she sat up and straddled the younger woman, making sure Korra was not lost in the euphoria of the moment, "Kuvira always has, and always will be part of the family, even if things are still tough sometimes."
Korra realized the growing need within her, and that asking now was probably a mistake as she squirmed beneath Lin. She started to plead with the older woman to continue, "Come on, we'll talk about it later; let's just have fun for right now."
"Hey, you brought it up! But… I suppose if you insist..." With that, Korra flipped the Chief so that they switched positions.
The sly Avatar grinned at the older women's surprise, "You're SO going to pay for teasing me this whole trip."
She silenced whatever retort Lin started with a smile and another breathtaking kiss.
/END FLASHBACK
"I haven't had that kind of workout since you last visited." Suyin started dusting herself off, invigorated and exhausted from fighting her sister. She too enjoyed their casual sparring, often looking forward to matching her skills to her older sibling. What she lacked in formal fighting experience, she made up with in agility. Overall, the two had been matched for years in different ways, each displaying different facets of charged and sometimes lethal earth and metal bending techniques.
Against one another, they were equals. Together, they were unstoppable.
"It's been a while, hasn't it?" Lin smiled as she talked, unwrapping the tape off of her wrists. Suyin bent two pieces of earth into chairs and sat down, motioning Lin to follow suit.
"So are you going to tell me about what's been bothering you? And what's been going on with Asami, besides probably regretting being with my cranky sister?"
She never was one to be indirect.
Lin looked away solemnly before speaking. "Let's just say you and Asami have more in common than you realize, unfortunately, in this area." A look of realization spread throughout Suyin's face, knowing right away what her sister was referring to all those years ago.
They never talked much about it, but Lin was well aware many years after the fact that the Triple Threats did more to her sister than she ever knew before she escaped. In retrospect, if she hadn't been so quick to conclude Su was in league with thieves purely because she was an untamed child, things would have panned out different. Maybe she wouldn't have those scars, those terrible memories, or all those years of hating Su's very existence. Now, knowing better, she tried to be there for her as a confidant and friend.
Lin spoke generally about some of the basic details of Asami's past. Su tried to repress her own memories, and strained to limit her anger. She felt a new pull to the young nonbender she hadn't experienced before, perhaps because of the newfound shared past. She needed to go and let the younger woman know she had her unwavering support, hoping it was something solid to grasp onto to ease a little of the pain she knew all too well.
"Do you think Korra knew?"
"Yeah, she wouldn't have gotten through the last few years without her, apparently." Lin shuttered, thinking back to Asami speaking about the depression taking so much of a toll that she had considered suicide many years back.
"Did she know who hurt her?"
"I'm not really sure." She'd have to ask next time she visited Korra's spirit.
"You know how to handle this, Lin. Just take things slow. Get her into therapy, if she isn't in any already. Ask her if she wants your guys involved and you'll be fine… Just, make sure she knows you'll still be there, through it."
"Of course, that was never a question."
"In the meantime, I'll talk to her, offer her my support too… Especially if I can at least try to ease her burden."
The garden had always been a place of solace – sculptures, stones, and grass gave the little place a serene feeling when one stepped foot on the grounds. A flock of young turtle-ducks swam and splashed in a pond near the middle of the garden. Su found Asami near there, attempting to read one of the architecture books she had found in the house.
"Reading anything interesting?" The matriarch sat across from the engineering mogul.
"Architecture isn't exactly my realm of expertise, but it's fascinating, especially how this city was designed."
"You should talk to Bataar about that sometime, he tends to be shy, but architecture is where his excitement and confidence shine through. It was one of the reasons I fell in love with him."
"How did you know when you were in love with him?"
She blushed at the sudden question, before smiling kindly at the young nonbender, "The feelings you get when my sister is around? That's how I knew."
"Oh. I guess she told you some other things then, too." Asami looked away at the pond. How innocent the little turtle-ducks were- she thought of a time when she used to be that naïve to the world.
"She had mentioned a few things… Look Asami, I can't tell you I know what you need, but I do know what you're going through, and you're a tough woman," Su touched her hand. "Just know you don't have to do it alone."
"Korra told me that, but who was I going to talk to? Mako and Bolin wouldn't really understand, and I didn't have an abundance of friends at my disposal to confide in… It's always been just me. Just, Asami." She started to get shake slightly at the memories of being alone. Su could feel that she was on the verge of tears. A new idea popped into her mind.
"Hey, let's get out of here, Huan and Lin are having another creative discussion."
Now that Su mentioned it, she could hear a lot of distant commotion. Asami started to chuckle at the mental image, "You mean arguing?"
"Yeah… You'd never realize it but they're actually quite good buddies, Huan's a lot like Mom in the weirdest ways… But what do you say, we could go out and get your mind off of all this stuff for a little while…?"
"Sure, I'll go get my things. Meet you back here in ten?" The heiress jumped up, ready to go retrieve her bag and coat.
"It's a date!"
Asami had started walking away when she snickered, "Lin's going to be pissed you said that!"
Su waved off the comment, "Too bad."
