AN- This is based on two similar prompts. The first was from seacat03 whose prompt was "I would love to see how Jack reacts to them bringing home Reid." The second is from Kina-san. I won't tell the whole prompt yet because that would give away the plot but part of it was "Jack gets jealous when he sees his dad interacting with Spencer so much." I'll post the whole prompt at the end of the two-shot.

Oh, and this is a continuation of the last chapter.

Previously on Criminal Minds- He was gonna fix that Reid for good!

CM

Jack's chance to rid himself of the perceived trouble maker came that afternoon when Hailey took the boys out in the backyard to play. Jack raced across the yard to the plastic log cabin Santa had given him last year. "Come on Reid! Let's play in the fort!" he hollered before opening the door and hurrying inside. The youngster waited until his enemy came in and shut the door and then rounded on him. He pushed the smaller boy with all his might sending the surprised child sprawling on the ground. "GO AWAY REID! MY MOMMY AND DADDY! NOT YOURS! GO HOME AND GIVE ME BACK MY DADDY!" he bellowed glaring at the object of his rage. The irate youngster kicked Reid in the leg and then turned and stomped out of the play fort muttering, "Daddy play with Jack, not Reid".

Spencer clutched his smarting knee as he stared after his friend. Where had that explosion come from? They had been getting along famously, hadn't they? And what was that about wanting his daddy back? Had he really taken Hotch from his son? The mini agent pulled his knees to his chest and thought back over his time with the Hotchners. Aaron had played with both of them, read to both of them, and held them both in his lap. The only thing he hadn't done with both boys was bath time and that was only because Spencer wasn't comfortable bathing with someone else. In fact he would have preferred to bathe alone but his cast prevented that. So, Hotch helped him while Hailey took care of Jack's bath. But that was al…oh, and then there was the sleeping with Hotch and Hailey. Of course there was also going to work with Aaron as well as the after-hours work in Hotch's home office and, and…Reid's eyes widened. He had taken Hotch away! He had moved in and stolen Jack's father! He had to make this right! Jack deserved to have a loving, attentive father not one that was always focused on someone else! Jack would have that! Nodding to himself, Reid pushed himself up, brushed off his jeans, and hobbled out of the fort.

Hailey was immediately at his side. "Sweetie are you alright?" she inquired gazing sympathetically at the tiny boy's tearstained face.

Spencer gave her what he hoped looked like a sincere smile. "Yes ma'am" he answered. "I jut twipped ovew one of the toys in the fowt."

"Are you sure you're okay?" Hailey prodded kneeling down so she could look him over better. "You're limping."

Reid straightened as much as he could without wincing at the pain in his sure to be bruised knee. "Yes ma'am" he replied as cheerfully as he could manage.

"Alright" Hailey skeptically agreed. She stood back up. "I'm going to go start supper now. Will you keep an eye on Jack for me?"

A genuine smile overtook the tiny profiler's face. "Absolutely" he confidently stated.

Hailey ruffled the boy's mop of hair. "Thank you Spencer" she said, returning Reid's smile. "You two have fun now."

Spencer watched the young mother walk across the yard and back into the house. Once she disappeared through the door, he turned and scanned the backyard with a sigh. Knowing Jack wouldn't want him anywhere near where the junior Hotchner was playing, Reid slowly tromped over to the swing set. He plopped down on one of the plastic seats and waited for Hotch to come home.

CM

"DADDY!" Jack squealed as he raced over and jumped into his father's waiting arms.

Reid watched the father/son interaction for a moment before pushing himself up to stand. 'Here goes nothing.' He thought. Pasting on a smile, he ran over and launched himself at Hotch knowing that was what the older man expected. "Daddy!" he hollered, fighting the urge to flinch at the death glare Jack shot him.

Aaron spun his sons around and then set them on their feet. "Hey guys" he greeted. "Were you two good for mommy while I was gone?"

Jack's "Uh huh" was echoed by Reid's "Yes siw".

"Dinner's ready!" Hailey announced as she strolled into the room.

"Yea!" Jack shouted, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "Mac-n-cheese!" He latched onto his father's hand. "Hurry daddy!"

"I'm coming buddy." Aaron replied with a grin. He allowed his son to drag him to the dining room and over to the table and then scooped Jack up and gently set him in his seat. Hotch turned to do the same for Spencer only to find the boy still standing in the living room where they had left him. "Reid?" he called.

Spencer shuffled from foot to foot uncomfortably for a moment before hesitantly stammering, "Untle Aawon, tould I, tould I talt to you a minute?"

Hotch's frown deepened. "Of course" he responded. He shared a concerned look with Hailey before striding back through living room and over to his charge. After picking up Reid, Aaron settled them both on the couch and then gazed down at the youngster. "What is it Spencer?"

"I'd, I'd lite to go bat to Mowgan's." Reid told him. "Don't get me wong. I appw'ate evewyfing you and Hailey have done fow me and, and I've enjoyed evewy moment wif you but I'm tiwed of being a tid. I wanna be adult me again."

Aaron's face softened in sympathy. "Alright" he agreed. "If you're sure that's what you want, I'll arrange for you to go home with Morgan tomorrow after work."

"I was tinda hoping I tould go bat tonight." Spencer countered.

The frown returned to Hotch's face. "Tonight?" he repeated. He glanced over at his curious wife and son before looking back at the squirming boy in his lap. "I supposed that could be arranged." He graced the youngster with a smile even though the last thing he wanted to do was give up his little one. "I tell you what. I'll call and speak with Morgan about the situation and then after we eat, I'll take you home. Sound good?"

"Yes, fant you" Reid said. He pushed himself up to stand on Hotch's knees and wrapped his arms around the man's neck. "Love you daddy"

Aaron returned the hug wholeheartedly. "I love you, too buddy" he whispered. He soaked in the comfort of the embrace for a few minutes and then reluctantly released Reid and set him on his feet. "Go on now. Go get some mac-n-cheese before Jack eats it all."

Spencer grinned. "Yes siw" he replied. He hurried around the side of the couch and stopped. "Fants again, Hotch"

Aaron forced a smile. "Yeah, yeah, go on. Get outta here." he teasingly said. Spencer's laughter rang out pulling a genuine smile out of Hotch. It didn't last long however. The second the mini agent left the room his surrogate father's expression crumbled. The last thing he wanted to do was send his second son away but since that's what Reid wanted, he would do it. He just hoped that after a few days at Morgan's place, Spencer would realize where he belonged and come back to them.

Rossi knocked on Hotch's door before opening it and waltzing inside.

Hotch glanced up at the knock. "En-" he began stopping as the door swung open revealing the senior profiler of the group. "Dave, is there something I can do for you?" he asked as his friend and colleague walked over and took a seat.

"As a matter of fact there is" Rossi replied. "You can tell me what's going on with Reid. The kid's been acting off since he had the trickster change him into an adult last week."

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Off how?" he inquired.

Rossi looked taken aback. "You mean you haven't noticed?" he asked the surprise clear in his tone. "The kid distancing himself from all of us hasn't caught your attention?"

"I've noticed." Hotch defended. "I believe Reid is merely attempting to give himself some much needed privacy. For someone who has been used to be alone for most of his life all the family time would be a strain after a while. He just needs to have a little alone time that's all."

"Are you positive about that because I get the feeling there's more to it than that." Dave warned him.

"Your daddy instincts kicking in old man?" Aaron teased.

Rossi rolled his eyes. "I'm serious Aaron. Something's going on with that boy."

Hotch nodded. "Alright" he said. "I'll talk to Morgan; tell him to keep a closer eye on Reid and to see if he can get him to talk about whatever is bothering him."

"Thank you" Rossi said. He let out a relieved sigh. "I was planning on having a discussion with him but I think it will be better coming from Morgan."

"What will be better coming from me?" Morgan questioned as he walked in the door.

"Haven't you ever heard of knocking?" Dave grumbled.

Derek grinned. "Yes but it's kinda hard to knock on an open door." he pointed out. "Now, care to clue me in."

"Okay" Rossi replied. "Just do me a favor and shut the door first. I'd rather not have any other eavesdroppers."

"You've got it!" Morgan said. He reached over and shut the door before going over to the other two men. "Alright now what's the scoop?"

"It's like this." Rossi began.

CM

Morgan was waiting for Reid when he came downstairs with his go-bag. "You sure you wanna spend in the weekend in your old apartment Pretty Boy?" he asked. "I could always take you there in the morning and then Savannah and I could pick you up tomorrow night after we get back."

"Yes Morgan, I'm sure." Spencer snapped, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. He and Morgan had been going round and round about his staying at the apartment since lunchtime and while he appreciated his friend's concern, the continued questioning and suggestions had worn thin several hours ago. "I'll be fine. It's not like I've never stayed alone before you know."

"Okay, okay excuse me for caring." Derek huffed.

Reid sighed. "Sorry Morgan" he apologized. "I shouldn't have snapped at you. I just don't see what the big deal is."

Morgan ran a hand down his bald head. "I've kinda gotten used to you being here man." he confessed. "It's going to be awfully quiet without you to stir up the dogs."

Spencer pretended to look affronted. "I do nothing of the sort." He halfheartedly protested.

"Riiiight" Derek countered with a smirk. "So you had nothing to do with that big ruckus that destroyed the living room last night huh?"

Reid ducked his head in embarrassment. "It was just supposed to be a little game of find the treat ball. I didn't know it would get so out of hand."

Morgan chuckled. "That's what all that racing around was about?" he ground out through his laughter. "Remind me to teach you the difference between indoor and outdoor games when you get back."

Spencer pasted on a smile. "You've got a deal." He replied though he had no intention of coming back to Morgan's house to live. It was past time he gave his friends their lives back. Needing to get out of there before he caved and blurted out his plan, Reid pretended to glance down at his watch. "I should be going. Mrs. Cavanaugh will be worried if I'm not there before dark. She insisted on cooking dinner for me as payment for my helping her this weekend."

"Be careful Pretty Boy" Derek said.

"You too" Reid tossed back as he opened and walked through the door. "The festival is always crowded and not just with people there to have a good time. Last year's statistics showed that pick-pockets made off with…"

"Bye Reid" Morgan broke in.

Spencer smiled. "Sorry. Bye Morgan. See you Monday!"

Derek watched his friend climb into his ancient car and pull out of the drive before shutting the door with a sigh. Rossi was right; something was definitely up with the kid. Unfortunately, he had no idea what that something was. Maybe he'd stop by the apartment tomorrow night on his way home. Surprising him might throw the kid off enough to get him to slip and confide in him. Yeah, that's what he'd do. He'd stop by with some excuse or other and get Reid to talk. Plan made the muscular profiler headed for the stairs. He had a ton of things to do before his trip with Savannah tomorrow.

"Hi Mrs. Cavanaugh!" Spencer called as he jogged up to the aging woman. "Here, let me help you with those." He took the heavy bag out of her hand as well as the handle to her cart.

"Thank you Dr. Reid" Mrs. Cavanaugh gratefully said as the two started the slow walk to their apartment building. "The trip to the store and back is getting harder every week."

Spencer nodded. "You do know they have employees who get paid to deliver groceries." He helpfully pointed out. "They would be more than happy to bring them to you so you wouldn't have to struggle to bring them home yourself."

"Oh I know dearie" Helen responded. "I take advantage of their service most weeks. But it was such a beautiful day today that I just couldn't resist the opportunity to take a walk."

"I can understand. After the harsh winter we had, I think we're all enjoying the warmth and the color of the spring." Reid told her. "I know my godson certainly is."

Mrs. Cavanaugh smiled. "How is little Henry?" she inquired.

Spencer's face lit up. "He's great; growing like a weed. I think he's going to…"

"Dr. Reid! Look out!"

CM

Dr. Sawyer strolled into the emergency room cubicle and stopped dead in his tracks. "Well now, this is one side of you I was hoping I wouldn't see for a long time." he teased. He walked around to the front of the bed. "Wanna tell me how this happened?"

Reid sighed. "I was helping my neighbor bring her groceries to…"

"Her? As in a woman?" Josh crowed. "Well, well, well Dr. Reid's gone and got himself a girlfriend!"

"What? No!" Spencer protested, making a face. "Mrs. Cavanaugh is not my girlfriend! She's a sixty-eight year old widower!"

Dr. Sawyer snickered. "Oops, my bad" he teased as he absentmindedly picked up Reid's chart. He glanced at the papers in his hand and then turned his attention back to his patient. "So you were walking a little old lady home and then what? You take a trip through the forest or something?"

Spencer snorted. "No, nothing as storybook as that." He replied. "We were just walking home when these three huge dogs came out of nowhere and attacked us. I managed to protect Mrs. Cavanaugh from harm but I'm afraid I wasn't as lucky."

Josh nodded. "Well, at least they bit you in the spot with the most padding." He joked.

"Ha! Ha!" Reid muttered.

"Okay so we're not up to joking right now." Dr. Sawyer observed. He set several tools on his rolling cart and then pulled aside the sheet covering the profiler. "We'll just concentrate on fixing you up then."

Blushing furiously, Spencer closed his eyes and attempted to tune out the activity going on around him. He focused instead on running through everything he'd ever read about dog bites and their treatments. He was so intent on his recitation that he didn't feel the tug of the stitches being pulled through his skin or the sting of the antibiotic shot. In fact he didn't even notice the doctor had finished until he felt someone shaking his shoulder. Opening his eyes, he looked up into the amused face of his physician.

"Have a good nap?" Dr. Sawyer quipped.

Reid yawned. "Are you releasing me now?" he asked.

"That depends" Josh said. "Which one of the goof troop do you want me to call for ya?"

"None of them" Spencer immediately replied. Seeing the doctor's startled expression, he rushed to explain. "I'll be fine by myself. I'm just going to rest anyway."

"Right and I'm the fairy king. Like my shiny wings?" Josh huffed. "Come on kid. You're going to need someone to help you change the bandages. Who's it going to be?"

"Nobody" Spencer reiterated.

"In that case I'm afraid you are going to be our guest for the next couple of hours." Dr. Sawyer told him. "Maybe a little longer. It'll depend on whether or not I get off on time."

"Why do I have to wait for you to finish your shift?" Reid questioned.

"Do you really need to ask?" Josh tossed back. Seeing the young man's confused expression, he rolled his eyes. "Dude, you are not going to be able to take care of those wounds by yourself and since you refuse to let me call anyone, I just appointed myself as nurse maid. And no you don't have a choice."

"Fine" Spencer huffed.

"I knew you'd see it my way kiddo." Josh gloated. "Now just sit back and…I mean just lay there and relax while I go do my Dr. Frankenstein routine."

Yawning, Reid closed his eyes and wished for time to speed up. He was ready for this day to be over with.

Will took the last of his things out of his locker and closed the door. He hated Saturday shifts especially when JJ was home. They spent precious little family time together as it was. Thankfully, his shift was over. He could go home and salvage what little was left of the day. 'More like evening' his brain supplied. Sighing, Will stood and trudged towards the locker room door stopping as a conversation caught his attention. Interest piqued he strode over to the two officers. "Did you say there was a dog attack over by Johnson's Grocery?"

"Yeah" the burly officer Stephens responded. "The poor guy got chomped on pretty good before we drove up and stopped the dogs."

"Could've been worse though" Officer Torterson added. "If we hadn't come along, the kid and the old lady would have been goners. Those dogs wouldn't have stopped."

"I'm surprised that Reid guy wasn't hurt worse. He was so thin he'd disappear if he turned sideways." Stephens told them.

Will frowned. "Wait, did you say Reid?" he asked. "As in Spencer Reid?"

"Yeah, that sounds right." Grady answered. "Why?"

"I've gotta go." Will hollered before racing out the door. As he rushed through the station, the worried man pulled out his cell phone and punched speed dial one. "JJ, I'm gonna be a little late."

CM

Will ran up the walkway to Reid's apartment building and hurried in the door. After dashing down the empty corridor, he turned to go up the stairs and ran smack into Dr. Sawyer. Grabbing the banister to keep from falling, Will gave the physician a sheepish grin. "Sorry man" he apologized.

"Not a problem" Josh assured the other man as the two started up the stairs. "I'm gonna assume you heard about Little Britches dog encounter."

Will nodded. "Yeah, I overheard a couple of officers talking about it. And since I hadn't gotten a call from JJ or anyone else, I figured the others didn't know about it."

"You figured right. Spencer refused to let me call anyone; said he could take care of himself." Dr. Sawyer recounted. "I tried to talk him out of it but the little brat just wouldn't see reason. So I kept him in the ER until my shift was over and then brought him home. I was planning on staying with him but maybe you can talk some sense into him. I know he'd feel more comfortable with one of his father figures than me."

"I'll try." Will said. He waited for Dr. Sawyer to unlock and open the apartment door and then hurried inside. He rushed down the narrow hall to Reid's bedroom and stopped at the open door. Crossing his arms, he stared down at his friend.

Seeing the man's stern expression, Josh decided to make his exit. "I'm just gonna put a pot of coffee on." He said backing away from the clearly angry man. "Just do me a favor Hoss. If you're gonna smack him for being stupid, swat his head instead of his backside. I'd rather you didn't undo all my hard work."

Will glanced at the retreating doctor before turning his attention back to the man on the bed. Striding into the room, he asked, "Care to tell me why you didn't have Sawyer call one of us?"

"It's just a couple of dog bites. They're nothing I can't handle on my own." Spencer replied.

"Really?" Will scoffed. He took a seat on the edge of the bed. "And just how are you figuring on tending to those wounds?"

"I, I" Reid stammered before blurting out, "I couldn't bother you guys again! I've taken you away from your families and friends for too long as it is!" Spencer threw a hand over his mouth. He hadn't meant to reveal that.

Will shook his head. "Reid man, didn't we already go through this?" he sighed.

"Yes but…"

"But nothing" Will firmly stated. "You are not a burden or a bother. You are a part of our family. And you haven't taken any of us away from our family. I don't even know where you'd get an idea like…wait a minute! Is that why you left Hotch's place?"

Spencer looking away was all the answer Will needed.

"Who told you that you were taking us away from our families? Was it Hailey?" Will guessed. Getting a head shake, he tried again. "What about Jack? Did he say that?" This time a wince was his answer. "Reid man, you weren't taking Hotch away from Jack. No, you weren't. Hotch was taking care of both of you the same as he would if he and Hailey had another child."

"But"

"But nothing" Will refuted. "Kids have a hard time sharing. You know that."

"I know but Jack was right. Hotch spend far more time with me than he did with Jack. He went to work with me, helped me with bathing and dressing, let me sleep with him, and worked in his home office with me." Reid ticked off.

"Okay, first off the work parts are out because you two would do that whether you were little or not." Will pointed out. "As for the rest of course he spent a little more time helping you. You were injured. If Jack had been the one hurt, Hotch would have done those same things for him and you know it."

"Yeah I guess." Reid hedged.

"I know." Will adamantly stated. He patted his friend on the back. "Now, are we clear on the you are not a problem child bit?"

Spencer grinned. "I think so." He replied.

"Good, then what do ya say we get you back where you belong?" Will suggested.

"Do you think I could go to Rossi's instead?" Reid asked.

"Spencer, you know Jack…"

"I know. I'd just feel more comfortable at Rossi's place right now." Reid explained.

"Okay Rossi's it is." Will declared as he stood. "I'll call him and let him know we're on our way."

"Wait" Spencer called. He waited for his friend to stop and turn around before yelling, "Gabe! Please make me little again!" The tiny profiler then raised his arms to be held.

Smiling, Will immediately went over and gingerly picked up the hurting boy. "Come on kiddo. Let's get you home."

Kina-san's full prompt: Jack gets jealous when he sees his dad interacting with Spencer so much. So when he and Spencer are alone he does what every little boy would & tells Spencer "that's my daddy not your stay away!" from that point on Spencer distance himself from Aaron Hotchner especially when Jack is around.

The next time Reid is turn into little Reid by an incident (your choice) he hides from everyone so that they won't find out. because he's an adult and adults don't need their daddies. besides he doesn't have a daddy, he's Jacks.
