North gave Jack a skeptical look, "Blue? Are you sure it is not ocean?"

"Come look for yourself! Last time I checked the ocean doesn't glow." Jack looked at its surrounding location, "And isn't in the middle of Pennsylvania."

"You wait here." North said walking into his office.

Jack looked down at the little light again, Wait a minute is that Burgess?

After a couple of minutes, North returned to the workshop, "I found ou-" He looked up at the now empty room, "Jack?"

The sky had turned a light pink from the sun's peak over the horizon, Jack landed down on the hanging of Jamie's house. Jamie had become Jack's wingman for believers. He alone had racked up an astounding amount of believers in Burgess alone, making Jack rather popular with the children in town. Jack's hypothesis was: if this little blue light was in Burgess, then Jamie might have a hunch to who it was. Jack peeked into Jamie's window to find Jamie wasn't in his bed, Jack scanned his room to find Jamie sleeping at a desk he had in the corner.

Is that a..schoolbook? Shoot!

Jack forgot to freeze the school over, he took a running start and jumped off Jamie's rooftop, he barreled through the streets towards the school, freezing over everything in a ten foot radius. As he arrived at the school, he dropped down at the entrance. He needed to freeze the school well enough to cause a snow day, and fast. Now was as good a time as any to test out just how strong he had become from the believers he had. Jack took his staff in both hands, clenching it with an iron grip, lifting it slowly off the ground. He felt the snow around him begin to circle, Jack shut his eyes, channeling all of his focus on the building in front of him. He held his breath, and slammed the bottom of his staff onto the sidewalk in front of him, releasing the mass power he withdrew.

In a matter of seconds, clouds swirled around the school, blocking out the sky above; winds from every direction blew recklessly, without any control. Jack watched as frost spread from the bottom of his staff shoot towards the school and climb its way up the walls. Windows froze to the point where it was impossible to see inside, the grey gates turned a pale white, locking themselves into place, even the surrounding trees shivered at turbulence of the winter storm, which seemed to grow in velocity with each passing second. The school bell began to ring from the pushing and pulling of the winds, and was soon silenced as the ringer inside became engulfed in ice, sticking it to the bell itself. Jack then felt himself beginning to lose control of the storm, he lifted his staff up, which lifted him up into the winds during the process. They tossed him around like a rag doll, launching him into a pile of snow.

Jack stared at the storm he had created, hot guilt washed over his face at his loss of control, then worry as he began to take its place for his believers in town. Would they be safe from the storm? Would it die down before it reached the city? Thousands of possibilities rushed through Jack's head in the seconds he spent lying in the pile of snow. Suddenly, the the storm ceased, the winds died instantaneously, clouds dispersed, and a light snowfall began.

Was that me?

The winter spirit stood up from his snow bed, and the world seemed to be spinning around him, he stumbled around as he walked closer to see his work. Then stopped, leaning on his staff for support, he saw a woman standing at the spot he was before getting swept off his feet.

"Mother Nature?" he called. Jack had met her briefly before, she had been discussing spring arrangements with Bunny a little while after they had first defeated Pitch.

"Jack Frost." she turned her slightly, her movements graceful, "I have no quarrel with you exercising your power, but do try not to so close to a city." she looked to the freshly frozen school, "You could very well have buried the town."

Jack let out a nervous laugh, "Guess I overdid it just a little."

She turned around to face him, "Be more cautious, would you? Next time, I won't be around to pick up your little mess." Then, clouds came down from the sky, circling around her. Jack shielded his eyes, and when they cleared, Mother Nature was gone.

Jack looked back at what he had done, the school had icicles on the overhang, creating a somewhat ominous atmosphere. He thought he should hold back on doing something that big for a while, besides Jamie should be up by now. Jack wanted to personally see his face when the news of a snow day reached him.

When he returned to Jamie's house, the little family was eating breakfast and watching the news. Jack waved through a window at his friend, who returned a smile, but pointed at his backpack. Jamie then turned his attention towards the T.V and Jack watched as a huge goofy smile spread across his face -he was practically jumping in his chair. It warmed his heart to see Jamie so happy, Jack waited outside and after a few moments Jamie came bursting through the door with excitement.

"Did you make the snow day? They said the school was covered in ice and the principal couldn't even open the gate!"

Jack reached down and ruffled Jamie's hair, "Well I didn't make all this snow just so it could waste away."

Jamie could hardly contain his excitement, "That's so cool! School will be out for like another week! I'll go get the others and we can start snow war number two!"

"Wait wait wait!" Jack reached out with his staff hooked Jamie by his hood before the boy could go run off, "Are there any new believers around? But not just ordinary ones, like someone… strange?" Jack didn't necessarily know how to describe the blue light, "Or maybe someone who believes way more than they need to."

A confused look crossed the boy's face, "The only new believer was the neighbor's daughter, I think her name was Emma. Remember?"

"Oh that's right!" Jack suddenly remembered the little girl, "She lives in that house over there right?" Jack pointed over to the house closest to the woods.

"Yeah, why are you asking anyway?" Poor Jamie was completely lost on what his winter friend was doing.

"I'll explain later. How about you go and get your friends and I'll catch up with you guys?"

Jamie reluctantly agreed, and was off to join his friends, who would be waiting on him by now. Jack, however, flew over to the little girl's window, seeing she wasn't inside, he continued searching around the house until he landed at the back porch. There he saw the little girl jumping around on a couch, the T.V in front of the couch displayed cartoons, which she held little interest to. Jack tapped on the glass door to get the girl's attention, and when she looked over, her face filled up with excitement. She ran over to the door, but the lock kept Jack on the outside, she held up her index finger, signalling for him to wait. Jack tried to watch as she ran off into another room and came back with a wooden spoon, it was then she used the spoon as an extension and unlocked the back door.

Jack was surprised at her resourcefulness as he opened the door and flew inside. Though he had got this far, he hadn't thought of a way to prove that the little girl was the blue light. Maybe he would gain power faster from being closer to her? He decided to just mess around for a while and see if anything odd occurred.

"Hey there! Emma was it? Do you wanna play a little game?"

"Make snow!" she begged, jumping around him.

Jack created a light frost across the hardwood floor, just enough for her to slide around on. Next, he made a variety of snow animals, that jumped, leaped, and bounded with the girl, all turning into snow after a couple of minutes. He flew around the room, holding the child's hands, sliding her around on the icy floor. Soon the entire room was covered in a light frost, she didn't seem to mind, she was in fact, dressed as though she was ready to go out into the snow and play. But the girl was so little, she couldn't be going out alone. Jack wondered where the parents were as they played little mindless games. She insisted on playing hide-and-seek, Jack was hiding behind the curtain to the back door, when their game was interrupted.

"Oh my god. Emma I left the room for ten minutes. You couldn't wait ten minutes?"

Jack swore he had heard the voice before.

Emma stopped searching and squealed for her sister to join their game, "Jack makes it fun! C'mon Mina!"

"Who?" Mina ran her fingers through her hair, surveying the frosted room, "How long has the back door been open? Mom's going to kill me if this ruins the floor."

"Jack! Jamie's friend! He brought the snow inside!"

"Wait, you let a stranger in the house?" Mina tried to keep a calm tone, "Where is he right now?"

"I dunno! We're playing hide-and-seek! Help me find him!"

Jack heard footsteps come closer to his location, then a sharp yelp followed by a thud. He tried to contain his laughter as Emma's filled the room.

"Why is the floor slippery? Is this ice? Emma are you serious right now?! How did you manage to get ice ALL over the flo-"

There was a moment of utter silence, which somewhat worried Jack. Then, he was startled as the curtain he was hiding behind was ripped away.

Jack was now face-to-face with the girl's sister, both of them shared the look of utter shock at the sight of each other, "Oh my god, you aren't even a kid." Mina's voice was at a low whisper.

"You can see me?" Jack questioned.

His words were ignored as Mina's face quickly turned to disgust, "You aren't even a KID. Is this what you do with your life? Sneak into people's houses? She is a KID."

"Hold on, calm down for a second!" Jack tried to intervene, the girl could barely stand, her feet were sliding around the frosted floor as she desperately tried to maintain balance, meanwhile Jack was just trying not to laugh at her efforts.

He tried to grab her arm to keep her from falling, but she only slapped his hands away, "Calm down? Why on earth would I calm down!?" her voice only grew in volume as she grew more and more frustrated with the stranger in her house, "Get out of my house before I call the cops you creep!"

Jack decided maybe he should try and work things out when she calmed down, he held his hands up, sidestepping to the back door, then walking out to the back porch. As he stood outside, he slid the door shut, smiling and waving. Emma jumped around waving goodbye to her friend, Mina, who had fallen onto the floor again, glared at the boy now standing outside. She stood up and pulled the curtains shut, not wanting anything to do with him. Jack flew up onto their roof and recapped what had just happened in his head. Out of everything that had just occurred in the past couple of minutes, he was at pretty sure he found out who that blue light was. It was pretty surprising to him, he didn't know any teenagers who believed in the guardians, she seemed too old to believe. North would certainly want to know about this, he pulled the mini snow globe out of his pocket, and made his way to the Pole.

When he arrived, the other guardians minus Bunny were present; North seemed to be pointing up to the light, stopping when he caught glimpse of Jack.

"North! Hey I think I found out who the blue light is!" Jack flew over to his fellow guardians interrupting their conversation, "There's this girl in Burgess and she could see me! I know that doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary, but here's where it gets interesting…"

Jack paused for a moment of suspense.

"What? what is it?" Tooth asked as Sandman created a question mark above his head, all eyes were on him.

"...She's a teenager." Jack smiled as the guardians shared confused looks with each other.

"How is that possible?" Tooth continued, she looked over to North assuming he'd have answers.

North shrugged his shoulders, holding his hands up, "I don't know, this has never happened before. I am sure that there are other teenagers who believe." North stroked his beard, looking up at the little light, "But that does not explain why hers is blue."

"Did you ever figure out what the blue meant?" Jack questioned.

"As matter of fact, I did." North looked back down towards Jack, "You left before I could tell you."

Jack chuckled, "Sorry about that."

North returned the smile, "Blue light means that someone somewhere intervened with a child's ability to believe. Interesting that this child is teenager…"

"Why is that?" Jack asked, "You said that it wasn't surprising."

"Because," Tooth chimed in, "The older a child gets, the more powerful their belief in the guardians is. Many kids stop believing naturally once they get to a certain age, and that keeps spirits from getting too powerful."

"So kids are like batteries? They keep us going?" Jack had never given a second thought to how belief works until now.

"You could say it that way." Tooth responded, "But this means that someone intervened with this teenagers ability to believe."

Jack looked over to North, "Her house is closest to the forest. Could it have been… Pitch?"

The room went silent as the guardians exchanged worried glances. It would explain how he was able to gain enough power to open his entrance again.

"She isn't safe there, not if Pitch is lurking about." Tooth exclaimed, "What are we going to do North?"

North pondered for a moment, then looked over at Jack, a smile spreading across his face as an idea popped into his head, "Jack you said you met her?"

Jack was somewhat unnerved by North's sudden calm nature, his smile told Jack that North had a plan that he wasn't going to be fond of in the slightest, "Kind of, bu-"

"Then you get yetis and bring her here! We can find out from the source! Simple as that."

"North I don't think thi-" Jack began.

"Do not waste time! We need to get her here before night! Phil!" North called, the giant yeti hurried to North, who handed him a giant red sack, "You go with Jack and-"

"North!" Jack yelled, nonetheless his efforts were in vain as North just continued giving Phil his task, Jack was certain repeating what they did to him with Mina would lead to a mental breakdown. She could hardly fathom a little frost on the floors! Jack zipped through the air, snatching the sack from Phil's hand, he landed on the globe, swinging the sack around his staff.

"Jack what are you doing? We have plan you two need to go!" North called.

Jack realized that he wasn't getting through to North, once North was set on something, there was no talking him out of it, so Jack decided to do the next best thing, "Why don't you just let me handle it? I don't need Phil to do this, no offense."

The yeti rolled his eyes and walked off, North looked up at Jack, who set the bag down on the globe, more importantly, out of North's reach. He quickly realized Jack wasn't going to let him carry this out, "Very well, you go get her, bring her here as soon as possible."

This time, Jack picked the long way to Burgess, he soared above the clouds. His hand skimming what would be the surface, he looked up at the sky. It was strange how the clouds seemed to separate the sky and stars above from those living below, they were almost like a curtain, providing each star with privacy from millions of miles away. When the stars would die, the clouds could also act as a blindfold for those living below, shielding the innocence as the light flickered away into total darkness.

How am I going to do this?

Maybe Phil would have been the easier option, but Jack felt that a yeti-kidnapping would ultimately prove to be a failure. She didn't seem to have any knowledge of the guardians, or maybe she did and Jack just didn't ask. Regardless, this girl didn't even know who he was, but could see him; Jack still tried to wrap his head around the backwardness of the concept. Where exactly was she the 300 years he spent in isolation? Well, like North said, it was most likely her belief was tampered with, somehow. Another concept Jack wasn't completely clear on either, he thought he knew everything he needed to about how belief works, but it was much more complex than he had ever thought.

He pushed those thoughts aside as he arrived in Burgess, still without a plan. It was nearly sunset, he landed behind a nearby fence when he spotted Mina and Emma. Jack peeked around the corner, they were building a snowman in their front yard, Emma was attempting to put stickers on while Mina was patting the body down.

"Emma why don't you go inside and get decorations while I make the head?" Mina said, sensing her sister's frustration with the stickers that refused to stick to snow.

She hopped off inside, this was Jack's moment, he hopped over the fence walking towards Mina. When he was spotted, she instantly frowned, causing Jack to cringe a bit, was she still mad about earlier?

"What do you want?" her voice was flat, "Haven't you caused enough havoc for one day?"

"Listen, I'm sorry about earlier but I think we got off on the wrong foot." He began, leaning up against his staff, he held out a hand, "I'm Jack… Frost."

She tilted her head at the mention of his last name, "What? Your name is Jack Frost?"

Jack tensed up, somewhat fearful of her reaction, "Yeah, don't wear it out."

"Wow, I'm so sorry," Mina knelt down and began rolling a ball of snow on the ground, "Your parents must have been way too obsessed with fairy tales."

This was not the reaction Jack expected, he dropped his hand down to his side, "What? I'll have you know, I am the fairy tale."

She stopped rolling up the snow and gave him a skeptical look then a nervously forced smile, "Oh.. okay? Good to know?" she slowly looked down and continued working on the snowman's head, mumbling under her breath, "Creepy AND crazy, great."

Jack ran his fingers through his hair, he was extremely uncomfortable at the entire situation, and it seemed she was too. This was not how he hoped this would play out, after a few moments of awkward silence, Emma came bumbling out of the front door, carrying armfuls of stickers and buttons.

At the sight of Jack her face lit up, "Jack! Do you wanna help me with the snowman?"

He grabbed the back of his neck, "Uh, not today sorry," he put on a smile for the child, "I've got... things... to do." slowly he sidestepped off their lawn and flew away. Perfect timing to leave, though that was an utter disaster, their parents just pulled into the driveway, arriving home for the evening. Jack would try again later, when he thought of a better plan to convince her of who he was.

The sun was beginning to touch the everlasting horizon, shining brightly in its remaining moments of the day. Pitch was waiting in his usual spot by the cliffs, when he heard rustling in the frosted grass behind him.

"I win."

Mina looked over to Pitch, mouth filled with food, "I have a valid excuse for being late."

He looked over to see her holding a bag of grapes, "How ladylike." he teased. Then he felt what seemed like a small rock hit the side of his head, upon inspection, he saw it was a grape. Picking it up, he realized it was frozen solid, "Weren't you complaining about the cold just yesterday?"

"Yep."

Pitch held the grape up over the sun, "You do see how this is counterproductive to staying warm don't you?"

"It's worth it, have you ever had them? Don't knock it till you try it."

He had no interest in human food, he never had a use for it, flicking it off the cliff, he responded, "I'll just take your word for it."

Then, he was startled, Mina had made a horrendous vomiting noise, then spit the grape she was chewing off the cliff, she looked over to his scared and a bit disgusted expression, "Seeds."

"What?" Pitch was still taken back, he thought she was dying or something along those lines.

"There's seeds in these, seeds equals deal breaker." she began pulling the grapes out of the bag, and one at a time, threw them off the cliff.

"What's with you today?" Pitch asked, she seemed to be in odd mood, much more childish than the previous days.

"Today was a snow day, so no school, and I had to spend the whole day babysitting my little sister, and she's a lot to handle."

"Oh? How so?"

Mina began to rant, "She's three, meaning she's full of energy all the time, and she lets absolutely anyone in the house. Like today she let the neighbor's friend in through the back door and not only did they leave the door open, but they got snow in the house," Mina paused, "Everywhere in the house, the floors were slippery from it, it made a mess, and that was only the start of the day. Then-"

"I see your point." Pitch interrupted, somewhat glad he would never have to deal with children that young.

"You know what? Do me a favor," Mina tossed him a grape, "Take this, and throw it as far as you can."

Pitch caught it, he didn't understand why she would ask that of him, but considering her mood today, perhaps it was best not to ask. He stood up off, he never realized how short she was compared to him. Mina took a step back, putting her hand out as if she was introducing him on a stage. He shook his head, she was far too enthusiastic about this, he pulled his arm back and threw it with all his force. It flew through the air with astounding speed, such speed that when it hit a passing bird, it began to plummet down to the ground.

Whoops

Pitch looked down a Mina, who remained staring at the falling animal wide-eyed, "D-did you just..?"

He looked back to the sky, the bird struggled, but flew off again, "No, see? It's still alive."

A moment of awe took over Mina, then she did something Pitch had never her do before, she began to laugh. Slowly it grew louder and even harder, so hard she had to wipe tears from her eyes. This time, it was Pitch who was in shock, never had he been the source of genuine laughter. He didn't quite know what to do as he watched Mina break out in tears of joy, slowly, he sat back down on his rock, staring at Mina curiously.

As she began to calm down, she wiped the tears for her eyes, then looked over at Pitch, "You hit a bird… with a grape, and almost killed it."

Pitch held a finger up, "Granted, it was a frozen grape, and I didn't."

Mina looked at the sky, it was nearly dark, "Sorry to cut things so short." Mina still had small bursts of giggling, "But it's getting late. I've gotta go, that was fun, maybe next time you can knock the flag off the moon."

Pitch rolled his eyes as a small smirk crossed his face, "Oh go home already."

As Mina walked off, Pitch was almost sad to see her go, this meant that he had to return to his lair once again. He had gained much control over his nightmares in the past couple of days, they hardly acted up anymore. Though, it wasn't as satisfying as he felt it should be; he found himself feeling empty, more than usual when he was in his lair. Regardless, he returned, but something felt strange, something in the air was different from the previous nights. He thought he felt a presence, probably that annoying winter sprite again.

"There's no point in hiding, Jack, you can't hide from the king of shadows."

The voice that responded was not familiar to him, echoed throughout his cave, "So it is true, you do reside here…"

Pitch knew this trick, using shadows to carry one's voice, it was easy for him to pinpoint the source, "Show yourself, or I'll drag you out myself."

Out from the shadows, an impish size creature, its eye were a bright yellow. It seemed to have arms, a body, and feet, but each would twist and twitch in unnatural directions. Pitch knew for a fact he did not create it, he had been gaining much more power back, but he knew he could control it.

The creature bowed before him, "My liege, it has been centuries. We have searched many years for you, and I, a measly scout, have come to aid you in returning you to your formal power. Once I report back, the rest will arrive, and with your lead, we can continue the conquest from days of old."

He recognized the creature as one of his old scouts, "There are others?" Pitch didn't realize there were remnants of his old army, but he wasn't going to pass the opportunity granted. It was a wish-come-true, he thought his army had died off when he first arrived here all those years ago. They were such loyal creatures, if he could return to his former glory, with his old army; the guardians couldn't stand a chance. Plots and plans began to unfold into his head, this time, he would have all the pieces counted for.

"Well then," a malicious smile grew onto his face, "Let's get started."

Jack landed by Mina's window, he knew he had to get her to come with him to the Pole. He leaned in and looked through, she was simply laying on her bed in the dark, looking through her camera, this was his chance. Moving to the side of the window, he tapped on it with his staff, not freezing it, but making noise loud enough to spark her curiosity. Soon enough, the window was pulled open, he knelt down and revealed himself, Mina's eyes grew wide, she drew in breath, and Jack quickly put a hand over her mouth, "No no no no, shhh, please just listen."

He pulled his hand off, where she began to harshly whisper, "How did you even get up here? What exactly is your problem? You have been stalking me literally all day!"

Ignoring her criticism, he began, "What I said earlier is true, and I know you don't believe me but let me prove it to you."

She was processing what exactly he was referring to, Jack took her silence as an opportunity, he tapped his staff on the upper part of her window, creating a fresh layer of frost on it.

"Okay, give me an animal." he beckoned.

She was staring at the freshly frozen window, "What?"

"An animal, just say one."

"A bird?" Mina was unsure where this was going.

He quickly drew a bird onto the frosted part of the window, if this worked with Jamie, then it should work with her too, he brought it to life. It flew off the window and into her room, flying around in little circles and loops before exploding into tiny snowflakes.

Mina's jaw dropped, she didn't understand what was going on, "Wh… what are you?" she asked in amazement.

He shrugged, "I told you, I'm Jack Frost."

"But that's just a story…" she began.

"Look around you," he pointed to the snow that was falling in her room, "Does that look like 'a story' to you?"

Mina wasn't sure to be excited or terrified, it was overwhelming, she didn't quite accept what just happened, "But.. how did-"

"Look I can't force you," Jack cut in, "But I do need you to come with me, I promise this isn't some crazy kidnapping and you'll be back before morning, but if you want answers, "Jack pulled out his mini snow globe with a smile, throwing it to open up the portal to the North Pole, "Then just follow." Mina watched, leaning out the window to see the boy jump through the swirl of blues, then vanish. She looked back towards her door, everyone in the house was sleeping; then at the last of the snowflakes that fell to her floor.

I'll be back before morning…

She climbed out her window and slowly made her way to the portal, her hair blew towards it; the force from the globe didn't help with the cold night air. She examined it for a minute, shivering, and debating whether this whole encounter was actually happening.

"I'll be back before morning." she repeated to herself, right before closing her eyes and jumping in.

Why the long chapter you may ask? Well I'm actually going on vacation! Meaning, no new updates until maybe next week (exciting I know)! Also thanks for reading and the reviews so far, I'll always appreciate the feedback:3
