Chapter Seven – Helping you
Paris, 3.55 PM, the 15th of March 1832
Jehan nodded with a smile and filled the pot with water.
''How do you know everything so well?'' Jehan asked Abrielle.
''I learned everything when I was younger. Us girls start to learn how to cook and bake at the age of 8.
We start with the basics like soup and cookies and we can cook whole meals by the time we're 12.
It comes very handy if your parents die or leave you so you have to survive on your own.'' Abrielle replied with a smile.
Jehan just nodded and hung the pot with water above the fire.
''What else can I do for you?'' Jehan asked.
Abrielle smiled and replied ''You can cut the meat into pieces so we won't have whole pieces of meat in our soup.''.
Jehan nodded and started to get the things he needed.
''Jehan? Can you wait just one minute more?'' Abrielle asked.
Jehan raised an eyebrow and nodded.
''You need to water your flowers. I noticed they were starting to die when I was sitting in the living room.'' Abrielle said with a smug grin.
Jehan started laughing and nodded.
''Oui. I guess I'll just start with that instead of cutting the meat.'' Jehan said as he filled the watering can with water.
Abrielle smiled and continued with what she was doing.
She liked how Jehan did what she asked.
A normal boy wouldn't do that, right?
She sighed as she thought about what happened in the past few hours.
She got a strange feeling whenever she thought of Jehan.
Was it love?
She shrugged that thought off and glanced at him.
She had to admit that he's quite handsome, but did she love him?
She knew only one way to find out and that was kissing him.
Seeing if the spark is there or not.
She turned her attention back to the vegetables in front of her and sighed as she continued cutting them.
Jehan quietly left after he filled the watering can, but did glance behind to take one look at her.
God, she was beautiful, but did she love him?
He was sure that he loved her.
He got that strange feeling which he always describes in his poems as love.
He turned his attention back to his task and went to water the flowers.
He started humming a soft song whilst watering the flowers and heard how Abrielle started to hum along in the kitchen.
He smiled as he heard it and plucked a flower so he could give it to Abrielle.
He walked back into the kitchen and set the watering can aside.
He held the flower between his thumb and his index finger and looked at her.
Would he do it or not?
''Don't be a coward.'' Is what he whispered to himself before walking over to her.
She turned and smiled as she heard him approaching.
''And how are the flowers doing?'' Abrielle asked with a smile.
Jehan chuckled.
''They are doing just fine.'' Jehan replied with an unsure voice.
Abrielle raised an eyebrow as she heard his voice.
''Is there something wrong, Jehan?'' she asked.
Jehan quickly shook his head.
''No..no…I…..I just wanted to give you something.'' He said as he held the flower out to Abrielle.
She smiled brightly as she took it and kissed his cheek.
''Merci!'' she said.
Jehan blushed furiously as she kissed his cheek and looked down at his feet.
Abrielle looked at the flower in her hand and thought for a minute.
''Can you put it in my hair behind my ear?'' She asked Jehan.
Jehan looked up at her and nodded, holding his hand out for the flower.
She layed it in his hand and looked up at him.
He slowly brought his hand up and put it in her hair like she told him.
He let his hand linger at her ear for a moment before moving it down to cup her cheek.
Abrielle blushed as he did so and looked up into his eyes.
He slowly moved closer to her as she stood on her toes.
They slowly brought their heads closer to each other and their lips met in a soft kiss.
They kissed for several seconds and leaned their foreheads against each other as they pulled away.
Abrielle sighed happily as Jehan smiled to himself.
Yep…Abrielle definitely loved Jehan just like he loved her.
