Disclaimer: Victorious and its carácter belong to Nickelodeon and Dan Schneider, I just had a lot of free time :3
It was a Tuesday night, the beginning of fall was making the breeze a little cooler than normal in California. Cat and Robbie were enjoying the last part of their date at Venice Beach laying in the sand and looking at the stars. "Just a couple of weeks and we'll be done with school, then off to make our dreams come true." Cat said as she snuggled closed to her boyfriend.
They had been dating for less than almost a year after Cat moved to Nona's, and started living with Sam. Robbie visited every two days and stayed during weekends, he slept on the couch while Cat and Sam each in their rooms, he didn't have a chance to complain as he found Sam staring at him when Cat tried to set up the sleeping arrangements. Sam like Jade had a very unique way of convincing people, that and a butter sock resting in the fridge.
"Sounds so close yet so far, I mean graduation" The curly haired teen said then sighted. "I got admitted into UCSD and UCLA both letters came in today." Cat stiffened at the comment "Dad got them before I did, he was really proud and told me how Michael was a junior at UCLA and Connor was on his sophomore year at UCSD" he explained.
Robbie's cousins were both students at some of the most prestigious schools, the Saphiro family was formed by the brightest minds of their generations all of them were known for being the best in their fields, from doctors to lawyers and engineers. Robbie being the only one interested in the arts at all. He had been criticized ever since he enrolled at Hollywood Arts and pretty much disowned when he talked to his father about enrolling UCLA because of their Theater, Film and Television majors.
"Dad went on and on about how I should major on bioengineering or just take the medicine path all together" He explained, Cat closed her eyes. She knew Robbie's family never approved of his dreams, his friends, his relationship with her anything Robbie did was wrong to them. "Really?" Robbie knew he had to talk to Cat, he had already decided which school he was going to attend and needed to tell her.
"Cat, I am going to UCLA with you this fall. I don't care what my family has to say." He stood up and took his girlfriend's hand in his. Cat stood next to him silent tears already running down her cheeks, "I love you more than words can express, and if you'd let me I would like to be with you until forever ends" he took out a small yellow box from his jeans pocket, the small red haired girl gasped as he bent down on one knee and opened the box to reveal a silver band with a single diamond, underneath it there was a small note that read:
"Would you be my player two?"
The alarm clock beeped, indicating the start of a day. The red haired woman groaned and shut the alarm off, this would mark the third night having the same dream. Cat sat up and sighed. For the past couple of days she had been dreaming about her ex-husband, she'd dreamt about when they met, when he started bringing Rex everywhere, when he fixed Mr. Purple's neck after her brother ripped his head off, when he kissed her for the first time, about their first date, and now when he proposed.
There was a small knock before the door opened and revealed a small black haired girl rubbing her eyes sleepily "Nightmare?" Cat asked silently, she knew her daughter too well to ask out loud. Emma nodded and crawled on her mother's bed as she had done it many times when she was a kid.
"I had a dream, and you were in it" Cat stated making her daughter look at her curiously.
"What was it about mom?" Emma asked, her brown eyes full of innocence and curiosity.
"Well, you were on stage, your first concert to be more precise," the red haired woman smiled. "There were thousands of people screaming your name, holding cameras so they could capture the moment were you'd shine for the first time ever." Cat smiled, as she remembered the first time she performed.
Emma looked at her mother in awe she had always dreamed of being a worldwide recognized singer, Catherina Valentine had the chance to become one of the most recognized artist of her generation but instead she became a wife and mother, she put her career on hold because of her family and reclaimed it when the twins were four.
"You're really talented baby, and I'm sure you will succeed in your audition and be a great artist in the future." Emma cleaned a couple of rebel tears from her cheeks.
"Mom is right sis, you have an amazing voice and I'm pretty sure you'll blow em away." Chris stood at the door of her mother's room he had a glass filled with orange juice and was dressed in his PJ's, his curly hair was unruly and messy his glasses were half way on his nose.
The curly haired teen made his way to bed and slipped behind his twin sister, together he and Cat made an Emma hug sandwich. "And even if you don't make it, I will still love you" He continued, "We will love you no matter what" Emma gave her mother a watery smile and snuggled closer to her family's embrace. A couple of minutes passed until the second alarm on Cat's cellphone told them it was time to start their day.
"All right how about you ladies jump into the shower and I start making breakfast? Good, now let's go" Chris stood from bed and ushered her sister to her room, Cat looked at her kids amusedly. She chuckled who would've thought her fourteen year old was so good at cooking, better than she was; Although the red haired wasn't really surprised he was after all Robert Saphiro's son as well.
Cat grimaced at the thought of her now ex-husband, they had been divorced since the twins turned six, after almost seven years of marriage and nine of being together a total of nine visits to court, a signature here and there and bam there was no more Cabbie. The red haired girl took a deep breath "Come on Cat, today is Emma's audition; I have to be calm and collected to help her" with that Catherina stood from her bed and got ready to face a new day.
The Black box theater was filled with young people aspiring for a spot on one of the most prestigious arts school in L.A. everyone was nervous as there was announced a change in the judges but nothing too specific. "So what do you think of the competition?" Emma asked as she and Sophia were getting ready behind the stage.
"Well there was this blonde green-eyed boy singing a ballad, he was pretty good and this other short girl the one with the blue top and black skirt, she was practicing and she was good" The brunette said worriedly.
Emma nodded and ran a hand through her black curls, "Okay, okay we can do this Sophie" She said with confidence "We got this, okay we are going to perform like no one else has performed" Sophia smiled and took her best friend's hand "Hollywood Arts will be seeing talent for the first time ever, once we're done performing they would forget about all of those performances mom, Auntie Jade, Uncle Dre and that Tori chick did" Emma squeezed her cousin's hand "Let's go Sophie." It was their time to shine.
Cat and Chris made their way inside of the Black Box Theater, on Lane's decision the red haired actress/singer became the third judge for the entrance auditions she along with Beck, Andre, Lane and Sikowitz would be watching the new aspiring young artists and deciding which ones have the right material to become the new young Hollywood generation.
"Hey Lil' Red and Lil' Bruno how are ya?" Andre greeted as he saw Chris and Cat at the entrance, "Hey Uncle Dre where is Jay and Sophie?" the curly haired boy asked as he shook hands with the older musician, "They must be somewhere around here, Beck says Sophia's turn is after Emma and both of them are like number 13 and 14" Cat nodded and kissed her son's cheek "We better go take out places this is about to start" Chris nodded and walked away to find a spot.
About one hour and a half and most of his battery down because of the long wait Christ received a text message from his buddy Michael stating that it was Emma's turn next. Michael, Jim and Chris helped Emma and Sophia with their audition. Jim Van Cleef and Michael Solomon got their tech talents together to help Chris develop the tracks, lights and effects that would be used by the girls.
"Okay next we have… Uh… Emma Saphiro" Sikowitz announced with a smirk.
The short girl took a deep breath and walked to the stage, she was wearing a black dress she had silver heels, her hair brown curls falling over her shoulders. Emma took the mic in her hands and gave a little nod, the music started softly and the young singer smiled as she knew it was her moment.
"I looked in my rear view mirror and it seemed to make a lot more sense than what I see ahead of us, ahead of us, yeah. I'm ready to make that turn before we both crash and burn cause that could be the death of us, the death of us, baby…"
Cat gasped as she realized what song her baby girl was singing. "Honeymoon Avenue" was a song the red haired woman wrote before the divorce, she had just returned to the recording studio and wrote nearly twenty songs all of them were inspired by her relationship with Robbie.
"I feel like my heart is stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, I'm under pressure cause I can't have you the way that I want. Let's just go back to the way it was when we were on Honeymoon Avenue... Honeymoon Avenue baby, coastin' like crazy can we get back to the way it was?"
Being the professional she was Catherina pushed aside her memories and concentrated on Emma's performance. Next to Cat, Andre listened attentively to the young singer he knew Emma had a great talent but she needed to work a little harder to reach some notes. He wrote down some pointers on the brunette's performance looked at Lane and Sikowitz who were mesmerized, he chuckled.
"They say only fools fall in love well, they must've been talking about us and sometimes I feel like I've been here before. I could be wrong, but I know I'm right we gonna be lost if we continue to fight honey I know, yeah, we can find our way home…"
While Emma sang with all her heart on the other side of The Black Box Theater Chris, Michael and Jim were really focused on getting Emma's audition recorded. Chris got the mix together while Michael and Jim worked on the lights and effects, "Wow, your sister has a great voice dude" Michael Van Cleef stated as he looked over his camera.
Chris smiled proudly "Yes, she does" he looked at his friend, "Now stop drooling over my sister and focus, we gotta have this video ready" Michael blushed and looked away, Jim rolled his eyes and looked at Chris "Why do you want to record your sister so bad? It is kinda weird" the curly haired boy sighted.
"Emma wanted my father to be here, she wanted to show dad how music and arts aren't a waste of time, however Mr. Saphiro had an important meeting to go to and bailed on Emma" He looked back at stage and saw his mother trying not to break and start crying because of the amazing performance his twin sister was giving, "So I'll make sure Mr. Saphiro sees Emma's performance"
"I feel like my heart is stuck in... Traffic, I'm under..., pressure, pressure let's just go back to the way it was when we were on... (Honeymoon Avenue, Honeymoon Avenue, Honeymoon Avenue, Honeymoon Avenue) Let's just go back, back, back…."
The music faded away slowly, Emma opened her eyes and smiled. Cat was beyond proud but being the professional she was, the red haired woman nodded and looked down at her notes "Very good Miss Saphiro, we'll let you know our decision" The short brunette smiled and walked away. "That was simply beautiful" Lane commented, as he reached for Cat's hand.
"She is really talented, I had no idea…" Beck got up and looked at Andre, "Did you know she could sing like that?" The musician shook his head, "I didn't. But man, she was great" He turned to Cat and smiled, "Okay guys, is time for the next child. Sophia Harris" Lane called the judges' attention.
Just as her name was called Sophia walked on stage and smiled, "Hi, my name is Sophia Harris and I will sing 'The Only exception'
x.
Hey kiddies how is it going? I know is been a while since the last update but believe me is nt because I have lost interest in the story, nope, not at all. The real reson is (and I know many of you are with me on this one) work, like I told you guys before I work for a customer care call center and a couple of months ago I was promoted to floor support so, I have to take care of a group (is more or less like a supervisor without the title and the paycheck) so anyways since we're getting close to the season where lots of people start buying stuff I've been loaded with work, and now I have to take care of about five or six groups of twelve persons each so... yeah a lot of work.
Another of the reasons is that I got hit by writer's block and well this is all I could come with. Besides I have a crush on someone from work and well, he is taking over most part of my thoughts lol (starts daydreaming)
Okay... So, back to what we are here for how did you guys liked the Cabbie flashback? To be honest the Cabbie ship is one of my favorites, the guy I have a crush on is a lovable nerd just like Robbie. He is nothing like the kind of guys normal girls would like and just like Cat I like him for not being what everyone expects.
Ooohhh How about the song Emma did? Honeymoon is one of my favorite songs along with Better Left Unsaid and The Way... Okay who am I kidding I love all of her songs lol :)
Sophia is next and now (finally) we will get to hear her side of the story :) what many of you have been waiting for! wooohhooo!
Well guy until next chapter, enjoy the holidays and the food!
Love and cookies
