Elos Vecles-14-District 5

I wake up in my bed, a pool of sweat around me. I wasn't being killed by a career in the Bloodbath, I was having a nightmare.

I almost instantly put myself back into my usual happy mood though. The sun is well up in the sky, it's maybe an hour and a half until the Reaping starts. I may as well make the most of not having a chance to be reaped.

I get dressed into a grey shirt and jeans, then I put green socks and a green hoodie on. It's quite cold, even inside. I skip downstairs, I can tell the rest of my family is awake, there is at least three instruments playing.

My Dad is playing an upbeat tune on his guitar, my mum is doing a calm tune on her violin and my sister, Velva, is play a tune I don't know of on her piano. I prefer singing.

"Hey Elos, you wanna sing Together." Velva says.

"Together, that's the song people in District 5 sung during the Dark Days. Ok let's do it." I reply.

"When you are all alone, know that your never on your own,
We're together.

When you are in the dark, I will be your shining spark,
We're together.

When you give a needing yelp, I will come and give you help,
We're together.

When you stuck and don't know what to do, I will come and rescue you,
We're together, together forever."
I sing as Velva plays along.

I love it, it's just such a sweet song.

I look over to my parents, they're hugging each other and smiling at Velva and me. I can't help but blush. Our family is famous in District 5 for our music. We always get attention, it's fine by me but I just like the fact that I have lots of friends. My two closest friends are called Neo and Tina, I've known them since I was about four or five years old, I know, it has been a long time.

I do voice warmups for about five minutes, then I make breakfast.

It's cornflakes with milk on, I also pour myself a glass of orange juice. My family barely classifies as rich, but we have enough money to buy twice as much stuff as you need to survive. Oh, and the hundred instruments scattered around the house, seriously, I found a flute in the fridge and a trombone in the sink yesterday.

I decide to leave the house thirty minutes before the Reaping so I can meet up with Neo and Tina. I'm old enough to go places on my own now that I'm fourteen. Our house is quite close to District 5's town square, so I find Neo pretty quickly.

"Hey Neo!" I shout as I approach him.

"Hey Elos, have you seen Tina anywhere?" Neo replies.

"No, she might be at the Reaping already." I suggest.

"Yeah." Neo agrees.

"When do you think District 5 will get a Victor?" I ask.

"I hope we'll get one this year." he says.

"That's what you've said since like the third Games onwards." I say back to him.

We start laugh our heads off for some reason, laughter just spreads. I love positivity. I wish

District 5's escort, Maveri, is setting everything up on stage so we start heading towards it. As we turn the corner to get to the square, Tina jumps out at us.

"Ha! Gotcha!" she exclaims happily.

"Tina, you scared the living daylights out of me!" Neo says.

"I feel exactly the same." I say, shocked.

We get our blood sampled and got to out age group sections. Neo and I stand next to each other. My fifteenth birthday is pretty soon.

Once everybody is there, Maveri starts doing the speech I'm so familiar with after almost a decade of hearing it. I tune most of it out, only because it has a negative effect on me.

"Right, let's start with the boys." exclaims Maveri.

She plunges her hand into the Reaping Bowl.

"Elos Vecles!" she exclaims.

No, this can't be happening. Neo is frozen in shock. This is happening. Tears are building up in the corner of my eyes. I have to win, for my friends, for my family, for my dreams.

Sparklina Yeresrital-15-District 5

I feel so mad right now, innocent children getting Reaped. I know, when the female is announced I'll set fire to the stage. My fire powers are real, people say I'm delusional, well I'm not, they're just jealous I have special abilities and they don't. I'm not the only person with powers in District 5. My best friend Wyatt Eison has air powers, his mom has earth powers and his dad has water powers. I live with them, my parents abandoned me when I was young. I don't remember them. I only remember playing a game called superheroes with other children and my parents telling me off.

"Now for the girls." I catch Maveri saying.

She puts her hand into the female's Reaping Bowl.

"Sparklina Yeresrital." She says.

What? This is rigged, I can't have been Reaped. This is the worst day ever.

I angrily stomp onto the stage and set fire to it with my hands. Maveri and Elos are burning, but they don't seem to notice.

"Our tributes from District 5!" exclaims Maveri, looking slightly confused.

We walk into the Justice Building. Maveri and Elos aren't burned anymore. They must have put a forcefield or something around themselves.

Maveri leads me into a room and I am made wait there for the Eisons to come and talk to me. I should easily win the Games, I'll just set fire to everyone in the Bloodbath.

This is going to go OK.

Dorathea Shimmer-16-District 6

I wake up as my alarm clock goes off, my ash blonde hair strewn across my face.

I wipe it away from my vision. All I can hear right now is the beeping of car's horns and the sound of aircraft taking off. District 6 has a forcefield around it so nobody can escape, obviously.

District 6 is also the third poorest district, only beating District 8 and District 12 in terms of poorness. It's the sixth most rebellious district as well, being slightly less rebellious than District 3, District 8, District 9, District 11 and District 12.

My dad isn't rebellious at all though, he is loyal to the Capitol, which is mildly surprising for District 6. He even handed his own wife, my mother (she was very rebellious), in to the Capitol so he wouldn't get punished, Mum's an avox somewhere now.

Speaking of my Dad, he's basically forcing me to go into the Games this year, he said it's because of treason or something.

I may as well train before it go to certain doom in a few hours. Well, I wouldn't call it training, I would call it punching punchbags in a garage that's been painted white with like, a dozen other people. It's the best we've got.

I quickly take a shower, get dressed into the tight clothes I always wear for training, brush my hair, brush my teeth and eat a couple of energy bars. Well, I say quickly, but it's really half an hour.

I grab my chrome black bag with a few more energy bars and some training gear, for example, towels, in and rush off to the garage.

I dump my bag in the corner of the room and start climbing on a twelve-foot-high apparatus, it's meant to help you with climbing in the arena, but so many parts of it are broken it's virtually impossible to climb to the top of it single handed.

When I'm about nine-and-a-half feet in the air I realise I'll need my rope and that's in my bag at the corner of the room. Then a boy, Skidder I think his name is, walks past.

"Hey Skidder, can you get the rope out of my bag and pass it to me?" I ask, pointing in the direction of the bag.

"No! Get it yourself." He replies hesitantly.

"Pleeeeaaaaase?" I add on.

He sighs, before jogging to my bag, pulling out the rope and jogging back to me. It three attempts for him to through the rope up to me and me to catch it in mid-air.

The reason I got him to do it for me is because I'm super manipulative, I learnt from the best during the rebellion.

"Thanks!" I shout to him, lying, and give him a wink.

It's not my fault I lied to him, it's just survival of the fittest.

I continue training for an hour and before I know it, everyone is leaving to go to the Reaping. You get whipped in District 6 if you don't turn up to the Reaping on time.

On the way, I meet up with my friend, Viola Illyria. We have only acknowledged each other as friends for like, two months but we get along surprisingly well. We still don't talk to each other much though.

"Hey, Dorathea!" Viola says.

"Hi, Viola!" I reply.

"Who do you think will get sent into the games this year." She asks.

Oh yeah, I haven't told her I have to go into the Games this year.

"Well… my dad is forcing me to go into the Games this year. Not like I mind or anything." I say sadly.

Viola doesn't take the news very well. She clasps her hands over her mouth and tears trickle down her cheeks.

"Oh Dorathea!" she wails. "I promise to donate all of my savings to you."

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." I reply.

I'll probably stick with the Careers or something.

We walk over to the square and get our blood sampled, then we walk to the female sixteens section, District 6's escort, Delilan, is half way through the speech. The same old boring speech. It seems to go on for twenty whole minutes, but she eventually stops.

"Right, let's start off with the girls!" she exclaims.

She dips her hand into the Reaping Bowl.

"Toyota Halfjay!" Delilan announces.

"I volunteer as tribute!" I shout.

I don't know who Toyota Halfjay is, but I just saved her life.

Carter Freightman-16-District 6

That girl has a good chance of winning, I think she's one of the few that trains in that old garage. I haven't bothered looking in there, I've been to busy running away from peacekeepers and trying drugs.

It's not my fault I do drugs. My two closest friends died in the arena. Tank Smith got stabbed to death and Lorry Blake got mauled by a mutt. Now I have a new best friend, he's called Jack Stevens, he's nineteen and the best drug dealer I know. My parents try to stop me from doing drugs, but I've become addicted to them.

"Now for the boys!" shouts Delilan Gaspen, before putting her hand into the males' Reaping Bowl.

"Carter Freightman!" she shouts.

Oh, well I'm gonna die! I nod my head and accept my death invitation and walk to the stage silently.

"Our tributes from District 6!" shouts Delilan.

We are led into the Justice Building, the inside of it is painted a dark reddish colour. Like the colour of blood. Delilan leads Dorathea into one room and me into the room adjacent to hers.

I'm trying to think who will come and say goodbye to me, mum and dad will definitely come. I don't think Jack will come; he's probably doing other stuff now he isn't Reaping Eligible.

A/N Finally another chapter! This took a long time to write, being 2k words and all. How did you like these four tributes?

Also, could you tell me your top 4 or 5 tributes so I get a heads up on who to do more POVs on? Goodbyes are next up; I'll probably get it done within a week. See you next chapter!

Trivia: I have a dachshund called Frank and he's so adorable.
