Freddie eyed the car clock that read 2:08am. He sighed staring out in the blackness outside of the car.
Brad was driving while Gibby and Spencer where in the back sleeping.
"Brad, you're a good guy." Freddie spoke up.
Brad looked over for a second with questionable eyes, "Thank you?"
"No, I mean it. Thanks for doing all of this for me."
Brad smiled and looked back on the road and shrugged, "Eh, just another adventure with the iCarly crew."
"Yeah," Freddie smiled, "I guess so."
"This is pretty exciting. I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity of being included on this story now would I?"
Freddie chuckled and drummed his fingers on his blue jeans.
"Why have you been single for three years?" Benson asked.
"What?"
"All throughout high school you never dated anyone, not even looked at a girl. Heck, even at prom you went solo only bringing a container of fudge."
"That was the best batch of fudge I ever made!" Brad said in a defensive tone.
"It was good fudge…"
"Why are you asking me this all of a sudden?" The sandy brunette boy asked.
"Well I mean come on," Freddie smirked, "we're sort of on our way to stop my blonde demon from getting married. I'm curious why you never showed interest in other girls."
Brad rubbed the back of his neck with one arm, "I… guess I haven't found someone special."
Freddie scoffed at the response. Brad's eyes shot toward him, "What?"
"Nothing," Freddie looked away grinning.
"No tell me, what do you have to say Benson."
"Doesn't matter."
"Tell me!"
"Na."
"Fine," Brad shrugged. "You're not allowed to try my new double chocolate chip fudge then."
Freddie gasped, "You wouldn't!"
"Try me."
Freddie threw his hands up in the air in defeat, "Fine! It's just I know how you look at her…"
Brad stopped at a red light and looked over at Freddie, "Who?"
Without saying anything he just gave Brad a stern look.
Brad got the idea, "Oh you don't think… wait… no! No, no!"
Freddie laughed, "Brad don't try to deny it. You're completely head over in heels in love with that girl."
Brad nervously tapped his finger on the car wheel. "Shut up," he mumbled.
"Dude it's okay, I was there too in your shoes one time."
Brad sighed. "It's just… she makes me so happy. More happy than while I making fudge."
"No!" Freddie gasped.
"Yeah!"
Freddie did a whistle, "Chiz. You're in deep."
"Tell me about it."
"Why have you never done anything? Why didn't you ask her to prom or just ask her out in general?"
Brad pressed on the gas pedal when the light finally turned green, but gave Freddie a dumbfounded look.
"Freddie, get real. Every time I even tried to cough up the courage to ask her she's either dating someone, going after someone, or crying because she got dumped."
Freddie was going to argue but closed his mouth a nodded his head.
"Well," Freddie said after a couple of minutes of silence, "instead of this trip being a one mission, let's make it another reason to travel across the country."
Brad laughed and looked at Freddie, "You think?"
"I know."
Brad sighed, "Do you think Carly will want me too?"
"A guy who can make amazing fudge and a ball of tuna would only be shot down by a crazy person."
Brad grinned, "As crazy as that Nora chick?"
"Even crazier."
…
"Sam?" Carly knocked on Sam's bedroom door cautiously. Ever since yesterday with the whole mother in law incident the poor blonde has been on edge.
"Yeah, Shay?"
Carly walked through the big dark wooden door seeing Sam lying down the opposite way on her giant size king bed.
"I'm surprised you're up, it's nine in the morning. You should be sleeping for another four or five hours."
Sam scoffed, "tell me about it… I don't know, I guess I'm just having a hard time sleeping."
"With a bed like this?" Carly was amused as she laid down the same way as her best friend.
"Isn't it too much?" Sam laughed.
"At least it doesn't vib-"
Carly got cut off by a sudden movement on the bed. Relaxing her back muscles and making her feel like she was only five pounds.
"Whoa."
Sam flipped the off switch, "honestly, call me coo-coo but I much rather prefer your couch than this."
"The Joans really out do everything, don't they?" Carly softly chuckled.
Sam nodded but didn't say anything. For being Sam's best friend for as long as she had, Carly knew something was off about her.
"Are you okay, Puckett?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be? I'm lying in a bed that vibrates, has soap that massages your hands, eating the best food I could ever dream of, and getting married in five days. Of course I'm okay. I'm more than okay, I'm peachy."
Carly didn't buy it for one second, but she didn't want to push anything. She already did that on the plane and a couple days ago when they had breakfast with each other. She knew Sam would give in though after a couple of minutes. So she waited.
Sam finally sighed after three minutes of silence, "I'm not okay."
Carly laid on her side to face Sam who was on her back staring up on the ceiling, "I'm all ears."
"Carls, as much as I really, really, really hate to admit this, I do wish the nub was here."
Carly let out a deep breath, "Finally you say it."
"Yeah, well." Sam mumbled. "I'm also bummed Brad and Spencer couldn't come either. I mean, just right there is half of my part of the family. Sure Melanie and her family our coming with my mom in two days, but that's basically it. The rest are Jonah's. Either half of my blood family is in jail or aren't allowed to leave their state."
Carly's heart dropped, she rested her hand on the blondes shoulder and rubbed it trying to comfort her. Though Carly knew all of that, it was tough hearing it out of her tougher than nails best friend.
"Sam-"
"It's whatever, Carly. I just wish they were here, that's all."
"Why didn't you invite Gibby?"
Sam gave her a questionable look, "I did… he never said anything about it. Jonah made sure he got the invitation."
Carly tapped her finger on her hip, "maybe you should call Freddie? Ask him if he can make it up here or at least talk things out with each other. You guys left on bad terms five days ago. He's probably more calmed down by now."
Sam sadly shook her head, "I was going to call him yesterday after we got our nails done, but Jonah said he called telling me to have a great life and not to bother him."
"I doubt Freddie said that," Carly said shocked.
"Why would Jonah lie about that?" Sam looked over from the wall to look at her best friend.
Carly bit her lip, "I... I don't know. Maybe he's jealous of Freddie. You two did date for a while and he does know how much you and Freddie mean to each other."
Sam shrugged, "Yeah but if that was the case, Jonah would let me call him back. He suggested that i just focus on the wedding."
"Maybe you should call one of the other guys," Carly suggested.
Sam shook her head, "Just forget about it. If they really truly cared, they'd be on their way over here by now."
…
"Never, and when I say never, I mean NEVER tell anyone about what just happened," Spencer looked straight ahead while driving.
"But I thought it was a bonding experience," Gibby shrugged.
Brad and Freddie both threw a dark look at the clueless boy, "Gibson…"
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone that we just took a shower wi-"
"GIBBY!"
