A few years down the line...

'Daddyyy, pleease may I have some more ice cream?'

Deeks stared down at his daughter. She was the absolute spitting image of Kensi and if the elder Deeks girl had him wrapped around her little finger, well... He always had been a sucker for those beautiful brown eyes. It seemed that just like Kensi, his little girl knew it too, as evidenced by the puppy dog eyes, complete with batting lashes; that he was receiving from her right now.

'Mia, you know that Mommy will hurt Daddy if he gives you any more ice cream. You've already had three bowls and that's just this afternoon.'

'But my neck hurts, Daddy.'

'It's your throat, sweetie, and yes; Mommy will hurt Daddy if he gives you any more sugar today.'

'Wow your mother has good hearing.' Deeks muttered lowly, watching as Kensi swept through their open plan kitchen/living area, laundry basket resting on her hip as she talked with Sam about the latest assault rifle Hetty had acquired for her. Hearing his comment Kensi shot him a look that, even without their almost telepathic connection, he would have been able to see meant; Yeah, and don't you forget it. A lot had changed since their little girl had come along; Kensi had fully embraced her role as a mother but she was still Kensi, and he had the bruises to prove it.

Subconsciously rubbing his upper arm he turned back to the little girl tugging on his pant leg.

'Daddy you're not listening!'

'I'm sorry Princess Mia,' Deeks grinned, hoisting her up onto the counter top and tickling her sides. 'I am but your loyal servant, your wish is my command, your cuteness.' He declared, finishing with low bow that included a dramatic sweep of his arm.

'No Daddy!' she giggled, batting her father's hands away 'You're the King silly!'

'Oh really?' He laughed, rising to place his hands either side of her on the counter. 'And what's Mommy? The scary dragon that guards all the ice cream in the land, eating it all herself without letting anyone else have any of-'

Deeks suddenly tailed off as he caught sight of Kensi watching him, eyebrows raised, lips pursed from the laundry room, a look that clearly signalled; Watch it Mr. '...it. Because, uh' he coughed 'because you know, she works super hard and looks gorgeous doing it and is therefore totally justified in keeping the ice cream to herself. In fact, if anything I think she should be allowed more of it.' He finished, glancing back at Kensi out of the corner of his eye.

'No. Mommy's the Queen, isn't she sweetie?' Kensi asked, rising from her position sorting laundry on the floor of the other room, to join her family. Resting her hip against the counter top beside her daughter she faux glared at her husband and raised her hand, wrapping it around his bicep, before resting her head against his shoulder. She noticed idly that while he still tensed, expecting the customary arm punch, an easy grin remained in place on his lips. Hmm, I must be getting too soft on him.

Narrowing her eyes playfully at her husband Kensi allowed him to wind his arm around her waist, leaning into his side and sighing dramatically. 'The Queen who has to do all the work taking care of the kingdom.'

'Now that's not quite true now is it, who does all the cooking here, Princess?'

'Noooo, Daddy, Mommy's the-'

'-The King, oh yes, I know, sorry Princess Mia.'

'NOOOO, Daddy! Mommy's the Queen!'

'Oh that's right!' Deeks exclaimed, pressing his hand to his face dramatically, 'How silly of me! But then, who's the King?'

'You are Daddy!' the little girl giggled, shaking her head at her father 'You're silly Daddy.'

Kensi laughed quietly, shaking her head fondly at her husband's antics before bending down to whisper conspiratorially in her daughter's ear. 'He is very silly isn't he? I think we should teach Daddy not to be so silly. What do you think?'

The little girl bobbed her head up and down enthusiastically before cupping her hands and pressing her lips to her mother's ear to whisper her plan.

'Oh no. I sense trouble. Kai, the girls are ganging up on me again.'

The little boy just blinked up at his father.

'Thanks Bud, knew you'd have my back.'

Turning back to the counter where his eldest child had previously been seated, Deeks realised that there was something wrong. Something very wrong indeed- his girls has disappeared.

'Oh no.'

Unfortunately for Deeks, Amelia 'Mia' Marie Deeks didn't just take after her mother in the looks department, she had also inherited her mother's ninja skills and when the two girls disappeared together it usually spelled trouble for him.

'Now!' he heard Mia scream and then he was being wrestled to the floor and restrained by Kensi and incessantly tickled by Mia.

'Kai, help me!'

The baby boy just giggled, kicking his feet in amusement.

'Alright!' Deeks exclaimed, finally breaking free of Kensi, grabbing Mia and spinning her round in circles. Watching from the floor where she now held her giggling son in her lap, Kensi's smile started to slip as she watched her daughter.

'Um, Deeks.'

'Deeks.'

'Deeks, I don't think-'

Kensi was interrupted by her Mia vomiting directly onto her father's shirt and promptly bursting into tears.

'And there it is.' Kensi winced, gathering up Kai as she watched her husband and daughter.

Coming to a complete stop Deeks didn't even pause to take a look at his ruined shirt before he was pressing his daughter in to his shoulder; the clean side, and stroking his hand lovingly through her hair.

'Ssssh, Mia, shh, it's ok, it's over, Daddy's sorry.'

Turning back from buckling their son into his carrier Kensi met Deeks' eyes and was struck by the guilt present in them. Moving closer to the pair she rested one hand on Deeks' arm and one on Mia's back and rubbed both up and down reassuringly.

'It wasn't your fault Deeks, she's sick.'

'Yes but I knew that I should have been more careful.'

'Deeks you were distracting her from her illness! That was the most I've seen her smile in days!'

'But I made her sicker, Kensi!'

'No, Deeks, you didn't, she would have been sick again eventually, you just...sped up the process a bit.'

Kensi couldn't help laughing at that, beneath her concern for her child it had been pretty funny that Deeks had been puked on and now that she knew her daughter was fine, the laughter was bubbling to the surface.

'It's not funny, Kens' he said, even as he fought to stop the laughter himself. The initial horror was starting to subside now and he was glad to see his daughter dozing peacefully against him.

'Come on, King Deeks; let's get the princess into some clean pj's and you into a clean shirt.'

'Lead the way,' he half laughed-half sighed, cheekily slapping her butt as she walked past him. 'Your Majesty.'

A fresh pair of pyjamas, a clean shirt and a Disney film later, the little family lay cuddled up on the couch together; Kai fast asleep and Mia not far behind. As the titles rolled on 'Tangled' Mia sleepily reached for her parents hands.

'I love you, King Daddy and Queen Mommy.'

Sharing an intimate smile, the partners bent down to press a kiss to their firstborn's forehead.

'And we love you too, Princess Mia.'

The family stayed like that, squished comfortably together on the couch, illuminated only by the small amount of light emitting from the TV screen, for several long moments before Deeks turned to his wife. Sharing a lingering kiss, they gazed down to the little boy in Kensi's arms.

'Here, let me put him in his crib, you girls have your cuddle time. I'll be back down for Mia in a little bit.'

Kensi simply smiled at her husband, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek and watching as he gently took their son and left the room. In the dim light of the living room Kensi watched her daughter snuggle closer into her side. The house was silent save for Mia's quiet, even breaths and the occasional creak of a floorboard as Deeks moved about upstairs.

The silence was broken only a short while later however by Kai's cries.

'Really?' Deeks sighed, 'Puked on twice in less than three hours?'

Smiling wryly in spite of herself, Kensi gathered her daughter and rose from the couch. Two ill children. It was going to be a long night.
