Gennai was going through his usual daily routine. Wake up, eat breakfast, straighten up the house, and doing any other chores that he had not done recently. After finishing up inside his house he worked his way outside, taking care of watering his plants and taking in the fresh air. He noticed a group of people walking towards his house, the group looked worn down and ragged. Most specifically he noticed a person was missing and his heart instantly sank.
"Come on in, and put her on bed in the back. I'll go grab what I can." said Gennai to the digidestined as they walked in somber. TK sat Gatomon slowly onto the bed and got her as comfortable as possible. Gennai came back with some bandages and water, he stepped in towards the feline and did all he could to help her with the healing process.
"There, that should help for now. Now on to other pressing matters, what happened." asked Gennai as he motioned for the kids to exit the room so Gatomon could get some rest.
After describing the heated fight between the group and the combined team of Cerberumon and Doumon. The group got to the most hurtful part of the entire day, but no one wanted to relive the painful thoughts
"So, anyone want to tell me what happened to Kari." asked Gennai with a worried concern in his voice. "Yolei? Davis? TK?" he said watching their reactions as each could be seen remembering the story.
"She's….gone." said TK starring down at the floor, tears coming out of his eyes.
"What do you mean gone?" Gennai asked, sounding even more worried. Like a parent learning about the loss of a child.
"Doumon….attacked both Gatomon and Kari while they were flying into the battlefield. When we got over to where they landed we just found Gatomon." replied Yolei, remembering clearly what took place only hours ago.
"I'm…sorry." said Gennai trying to be empathetic with the group.
Meanwhile Doumon and Cerberumon reported to Astamon in the Dark Area. The lair that Astamon and his minions called home had a feeling of despair hanging over it. Doumon never felt comfortable being here, and now they had been summoned to see Astamon. The two walked through the darkened hallway leading to Astamon's lair. Bakumon were standing guard through the hallway as the two ultimate digimon walked through.
"Ahh Cerberumon and Doumon, glad you could make it." said Astamon as the pair walked in. "I'm sure you are wondering why I asked for you." finished Astamon contently.
"Yes Astamon, sir.?" said Cerberumon
"I heard you ran into the digidestined, what I want to know is why you ran away?" asked Astamon with a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice near the end.
"Well sir…"started Doumon.
"There is no excuse for that!" interrupted Astamon
"Sir, the blonde haired boy….he."
"Enough!" yelled Astamon. "No more excuses, next time don't fail me. I entrusted you to stand beside me in this world, don't make me regret that decision. Now go." finished Astamon
Over the next few days the group stayed in their safe haven, tending to Gatomon who was gaining her strength little by little each day. Yolei was leaving the room Gatomon was resting in when Davis walked by her.
"Hey have you seen TK?" asked Yolei as she stopped Davis from continuing along the hallway.
"Last time I saw him he was in his usual spot, just starring out towards the horizon. Why?" responded Davis
"I'm worried about him. You know I haven't seen him sleep or eat anything since we got back. I know he is hurting and we all are, but I can't stand by and watch him do this to himself." Yolei said somberly as she looked down at the floor
Davis put a hand on her shoulder, which caused her to look up from the floor. Yolei smiled back at Davis, without saying a word she knew what Davis was trying to gesture. She walked through Gennai's house and out to where TK was sitting near the edge of the pond in the side yard of the house. TK was sitting cross-legged just starring out into the open.
"Hey TK…..mind if I sit next to you?" asked Yolei as she waited for a response from her friend. TK didn't seem to acknowledge her presence.
"Beautiful day isn't it?" said Yolei, still with no response.
Yolei just sat there with him, she listened to the wind blow through the air. It really was a peaceful and serene setting, but the silence was to much for her. She could just see TK's face was burdened with pain.
"Are you hungry? You want me to get you something?" she asked breaking the silence.
"No" TK said quietly
"You want me to bring you something to drink?"
"No" TK responded again
"Do you want to come inside and join us for a card game or something?" Yolei asked trying to get more than a one word response from TK
"No…I just want to be left alone right now." said TK
Yolei stood up, and started to walk away when she heard TK take a deep breathe and began to speak.
"Yolei…"TK started as he turned his head towards her "Next time we run into them, I won't let them leave alive."
The words haunted Yolei. She continued to walk back to the house after determining TK was done speaking. Davis and Ken were standing near the front door when she walked up.
"So how did it go?" asked Davis
"We need to talk" said Yolei as she moved between the two boys and back inside. Both Davis and Ken looked at each other, then towards where TK was and finally followed Yolei back into the house. Once Cody joined the group they had a small meeting.
"OK….so we really need to keep an eye on TK." started Yolei. "I'm afraid he may do something irrational."
"What did he say?" asked Davis
"TK wants revenge, and it sounds like he won't stop until both Doumon and Cerberumon are gone."
"Doesn't sound to outrageous." said Davis
"It may not sound outrageous, but who knows how far TK will go to achieve his goal." responded Ken.
TK was still sitting outside, his mind racing around in his head. The image of Kari and Gatomon falling from the sky would replay over and over again. Then every now and then he would have thoughts on how his next fight with Doumon and Cerberumon would go. The wind was still blowing gently across his face, and the beating of his heart were the only things he really heard.
"TK" said a voice quietly
TK snapped out of his trance, wondering if he really heard his name.
"TK" said the voice again a little louder
TK began to turn his head around, trying to find out where the voice was coming from. He noticed someone or something that seemed to be peeking from the the corner of the house. He slowly got up from his sitting position, stumbling at the beginning of his slow pace walk. Exhaustion was starting to show each step he took. He made his way to the corner and saw the figure move towards the front of the house, so he followed suite. Realizing that the figure had stepped inside he went in, he heard footsteps making their way up the staircase.
When he got near the top of the stairs he heard giggling, and a door shut just around the corner. He found the door and opened it up inside the room was Gatomon sleeping on the bed. Near the bedside was a brunette girl with a hand on Gatomon's head, petting the sleeping digimon. The girl looked over at TK and back at Gatomon.
"Ka…ka…Kari" said TK as he was holding back his sadness. He closed his eyes to wipe away his tears, when he opened them back up he was looking up at a ceiling.
"Hey, morning sleepy head." said Yolei as her head soon appeared in TK's sight.
"Glad your finally awake, you had us worried." Yolei continued wiping away a tear from her eye
"What happened? Why am I in a bed? Where's Kari?" asked TK confused
"Patamon had gone outside to check on you while we were inside talking. He flew back inside as quick as he could when he found you passed out barely breathing. Ken and Davis brought you to a room, guess you passed out from exhaustion."
"Ok….so I didn't see Kari walking around here?"
"No…I'm afraid not." said Yolei
TK started to prop himself up in the bed, but he didn't get far before Yolei pushed him back down onto the bed. "No…you stay put, get some more sleep. I also have a partner to make sure you do that."
As Yolei finished a familiar orange and white flying hamster landed on top of TK's chest.
"Now Patamon you make sure our patient stays put. I will back in a little while to check on you"
"Right" Patamon said with a nod.
Yolei walked out of the room and shut the door behind her leaving TK with Patamon. TK closed his eyes and fell back asleep for a little while longer. When he woke back up Patamon had falling asleep on top of TK's chest, he watched as Patamon would rise up and down on TK's chest with each breath TK took. It brought a smile back to TK's face. TK slowly moved Patamon off of him and laid the deep sleeping digimon back on the bed, he walked out of his room and made his way to Gatomon's room.
He noticed the feline resting peacefully in the bed, looking better than when they first brought her. He walked up to her and put a hand on top of Gatomon's head. The digimon slowly opened her eyes and saw TK standing over her.
"Hey….you doing ok?" asked TK
"Aside from going crazy by being bed ridden all day? I feel fine." joked Gatomon.
"That's good. Listen I'm going to be gone for a little while, I will be back though." said TK
Gatomon understood and just nodded her head back at TK. TK turned around and started to walk out of the room before he was stopped by Gatomon.
"TK…..give'em one for me." said Gatomon
TK let out a quiet laugh and went to go pick up Patamon back in his room.
An hour later Yolei had walked up to TK's room and knocked on the door.
"TK….TK I'm going to open the door, hope your decent." joked Yolei. She opened the door and noticed not a single soul was there. She quickly walked over to Gatomon's room and saw just the feline digimon still resting on her bed.
"Gatomon…..hey Gatomon; have you seen TK?" asked Yolei as she quietly woke up the digimon
"Nope, haven't seen him since yesterday." yawned Gatomon
Yolei went back downstairs to where Davis, Ken, and Cody were playing Go Fish. The boys looked up at Yolei and her panicked expression on her face.
"Yolei what's up?" asked Ken
"TK is gone." said Yolei
So as I post this chapter I'm leaving for a road trip over the weekend. I wanted to post something either a new chapter to continue the story or some interlude between chapters to give some backstory to what each character was going through before being brought back to the digital world. This chapter came out a lot quicker than the interlude.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, I know I will as long as I don't get snowed in over the weekend. Ciao
Also review, favorite, and tell your friends, family, and neighbors.
