RENASCENCE
Anxiety

"Shizuru, stop. I have to do this."

It wasn't even a day after the announcement from the Schwartz Corporation. Natsuki needed these things sorted - she had to become the Gakuenchou. Not a forever-recovering sufferer who'd get nowhere.

"If you are sure, Natsuki." Shizuru lifted her hands from off her, and stepped back. There was a look of worry upon her features, something which Natsuki regretted.

The two of them were within the conference hall, surrounded by fellow meister. It had honestly been a long while since Natsuki had seen so many otome. The hall was absolutely jam packed. There was barely enough space to move, let alone hear herself think.

"We have to do something." Natsuki blurted out, threading a hand through her hair slowly. Taking a few steps towards the table, she stumbled and grasped the edge, glaring down at her cane.

This damned thing was definitely going to get in the way, now.

"I need to announce I'm… not a… vegetable anymore." Natsuki turned to the other meister, describing her case with a hint of disdain. She wet her lips from thought, quickly glancing between Shizuru, and Mai.

Everyone stared at her, awaiting her keenly.

"I want to make a broadcast of my own…" She leaned into the table, mind racing from the possibilities this could bring.

Her mother would know she was alive and well.

Garderobe's enemies would know also. But they wouldn't know how strong she had become. Emerald slated dark, filling with a strange emotion. The notion sent a few meister away from her, stepping back.

"Gakuen-" Miss Maria was interrupted, Natsuki merely lifting her hand, silencing her. The elder shot her a pointed look, but clasped her hands before her nonetheless.

"I might not remember - perhaps I never will. But I must announce my condition and warn our enemies Garderobe can't be taken down easily."

Shizuru stared, watching her. This was a side of Natsuki she had not seen in quite some time. The hatred sparking in her eyes, that thirst for revenge. She only hoped Natsuki could control her temper better this time.

"Haruka, Aries… Someone tried to kill me. Let's show them that killing me isn't such an easy task, and neither is killing any of us." Natsuki growled softly, clenching a fist tight.

The meister who had been gathered agreed, some louder than others. Some meister from the countries responsible were quiet, however - meek.

"If I may?" Sara spoke up, the otome focusing their attention upon the Aries-native.

Natsuki glanced her way, brow furrowing in a way that almost made Shizuru step forward. "...What is it, Sara?"

"I suggest two separate broadcasts." The Aries otome nodded in approvement, signalling the blonde to continue. "Aries is a proud and arrogant country. They won't listen if there is only an international message."

"...That is a good idea." Natsuki softly spoke, nodding to the blonde. "Thank you. Then, one broadcast strictly for Aries."

Shizuru exhaled silently, glad that the Gakuenchou's temper seemed in check now. She appeared… calmer, but still tense. Shizuru sustained her concern, gnawing on her lip in thought.

"We have lain in wait for long enough. It has been decades since we were last in a war, but we have no choice. Whatever Aries… Schwartz, and any others are doing, we must stop them."

Pausing, Natsuki peered down to the projector, thinking. "I know I haven't been the best in the past, perhaps at times I am no better than Una Shamrock." She turned to the otome, some glancing between one another. "But I don't want to see innocent lives taken because we were too afraid."

"If a war comes into play… We will be involved. We will win." Natsuki dropped her cane, standing tall throughout the dull ache of her leg as she fixed her jacket.

"Aries broadcast goes first."

Pain would come afterwards, it wasn't even secondary. "When can we start?" She asked, eagerly directing her attention to Yohko.

The scientist had been brought to the conference hall also. In reality she looked out of place amongst the fellow women. The concept of even seeing her out of that lab was stranger still.

"Any time. I would suggest an area of...less sensitivity." Yohko confirmed. "No students, no tech… but lots of otome." The doctor nodded.

"Less sensitivity…" Natsuki rose a hand, now feeling a little foolish for letting go of her cane so early. She pointedly stared at it until someone picked it up for her, passing it to her. The Gakuenchou cleared her throat awkwardly, smoothing her knuckles along her chin.

"Perhaps, then… The arena?"

There were over a hundred of them in this one room. That was some terrifying power - power which right now, they desperately needed. "We need an impact, a scare." Natsuki spoke, regarding as many of the meister as she could.

Focusing her attention upon the columns, she ushered them over. "Columns must be at the front. Aries otome must be in their uniforms, and the rest…?"

The Gakuenchou mused, quieting.

Shizuru stepped forward, placing a hand at her shoulder. "It will be perfect, Natsuki."

"It has to be," Natsuki shook her head. She placed her hand atop Shizuru's anyhow, speaking to her quietly. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm okay." She smiled, thinking on the memory of when she first became Gakuenchou.

No matter what came next after the broadcasts, they would be ready for it.

Mulling something over, Natsuki switched her gaze towards Yohko. Those earlier excavation plans… They would be put into order once she was without her cane.

Whatever was buried, it might help. It might even be a weapon.

But for something which had purposely been erased from history? Was she way over her head this time? Natsuki pushed the thought away, stepping away from Shizuru. "Everyone. Meet in the arena in an hour, any events planned must be cancelled immediately."

Shizuru wondered about the glance shared between the doctor and the Gakuenchou, quirking a brow. She met at the younger's side, unsure if she should ask.

Natsuki led the way out, using her cane to a bare minimum before she picked it up from the floor altogether. Tucking it under an arm, she limped a little less with each step.

Anxiously, Shizuru almost spoke up but found something oddly… different about Natsuki's attitude. Perhaps this had just become a pride race…?

Surely not?

"Straight after," the Archmeister paused. Natsuki glancing over towards her then back in front of their path. "We should prepare the armour and uniforms."

"...I've an idea." Natsuki murmured back to her, rubbing her jaw. "Is there a way to force my appearance as if I were in my robe? I would love to portray that…"

"Not necessarily so." The Archmeister halted mid-thought. "Yohko?" She asked around, the scientist hurrying up to their side.

"What is it?" Yohko quirked a brow, dodging otome all around as they exited the hall. "I need to get back to the lab to organise this."

"Are gynoids programmed to take on the appearance of living otome?"

The question from the Archmeister made her blink, and Yohko stared. "...No." She confirmed. "But."

"But?" Natsuki frowned.

"All we need is the Gakuenchou to wear the holographic material."

"Wear it? Is it safe?" Natsuki questioned softly, the doctor dodging another woman.

"It's safe, yes. It will look as though you are one-hundred percent recovered."

"Good." Sweeping her hair back, Natsuki grazed the scarred seam at her skull and thought a moment more.

"Shizuru, I need that hairpin."

With all this running around and dodging so many people… she felt as if she was the Aries president. The thought in itself was hilarious, if not bitter. "It can be repaired quickly, can't it? Or can the hologram sort that?"

"The hologram should." Yohko nodded. "I must be off." Without another word she swiftly bypassed them, jogging out in front towards the lab.

"Shizuru, we do have… defenses, yes? Not just otome, but… Garderobe's defenses? I want the students protected for these broadcasts until we are sure no retaliation is issued."

"We do, and if bad comes to worse, the Shinso shall corporate."

Without another moment to spare, they, and the other otome found themselves within the arena. With worry, Natsuki quickly snuck glances at Miss Maria, the woman appearing as stoic as ever.

The Lutecian had been hit the hardest, and the cracks were forming. Even Natsuki could see the epitome was beginning to struggle. Natsuki gave a sympathetic nod before she took a slow look around. Yes… this would work.

A broadcast in an area meant for a fight, a war if needed…

"Do we have the recording equipment?"

"It is being brought up from the lab." To their surprise, Anh carried herself to them. "Sorry I couldn't make it at a better time." The elder woman chuckled, standing by the Archmeister's side. "My father has full support for Garderobe's endeavours." She added.

"Well… It's good to see you." Natsuki smiled brightly to her, edging towards Shizuru's other side. She leaned in, whispering softly. "...Who is that?"

Shizuru slowly adjusted her gaze upon Natsuki, blinking once, her mouth opening. Closing her mouth quickly, she regarded Anh, smiling also. "It is good to see you, Anh. How is King Bao? Has he managed to persuade you to become a responsible daughter?"

"Of course not."

Natsuki, confused, regarded the two with a faint glare before she crossed her arms. She did not like being ignored…

"Oi, frowny face." She was poked in the cheek, and whirled around to face whoever dared-

"Laura?"

"You won't have much luck." Laura snickered, smoothing down her uniform momentarily. "If you thought Shizuru had been a notorious oneesama, you should've seen Anh."

Hang on a second. So this woman who had grabbed Shizuru's attention… was Shizuru's oneesama? Natsuki frowned harder, unmeaningly glaring daggers into the Annamese woman.

"Oh, look at her now, Rose. Isn't she cute?" She heard the Lutecian snigger, and glared back towards Laura.

Rosalie hid her mouth behind her hand, reminding her of Shizuru, and her frown expanded.

"I could freeze you…" She hissed softly, jabbing her thumb at Laura.

"Don't get jealous now, Kruger." Laura prodded her way. "You have two announcements to prepare for right? I'm sure Shizuru will finish speaking with Anh soon. So keep your head together."

"Honestly?" Natsuki sighed, rubbing at the bridge of her nose. "I'm unsure how difficult that will be, soon."

She already felt like it was about to be split open. No pain, persay, but… A pressure that was building up inside her skull.

Anticipation? Anxiousness as well, no doubt. She could not let either show…

Lowering her hand from her nose, Natsuki took a deep breath, exhaling it slowly through her mouth. Laura nodded to her, tugging Rosalie away as she let the the Gakuenchou have her peace.

She was sure she would need to prepare a script ready. However she felt she would need guidance… perhaps Sara would be suitable? The fellow column knew Aries much better than her, even if she was a noble.

A noble…

The word tugged at her brain, and Natsuki paused. Would she want the Kruger County muddled up in this war? It was only a small region and had a low population, but even so. Natsuki was the only otome of the Kruger County, nor was there anymore Krugers except for her and her mother.

Her mother… She was a countess. How had she forgotten?

How funny, that was. Natsuki allowed herself to spare a smile, shaking her head as she mentally prepared. Aries would have to listen… and listen carefully.

Catching sight of Anh leaving, Natsuki quickly swerved past the multitude of women. She fell back into place by Shizuru's side, and stared at her pointedly. "Shizuru," she uttered. "I think I may know a way to contact my mother."

"Oh?" Shizuru clasped her hands together, tilting her head. "Now, how is that?"

Leaning closer to the Archmeister, Natsuki spoke quietly and fluidly. "Do you remember my mother's bodyguard, Miyu Greer?" With the elder's eyes lighting in acknowledgement, she continued. "What if through Miyu, we can contact my mother?"

They could perhaps even give Miyu the capsule. She had always been reliable when it came to technology, just like her mother, honestly.

Shizuru appraised her with a nod, raising one hand to cup her chin. "That would be very possible… Good idea, Natsuki." Natsuki stood straight, grinning softly at the small praise given. She sobered her expression, clearing her throat.

"I wonder if this will work…"

"We have no disagreements for this, Natsuki. Remember that." Shizuru spoke, studying the many otome whom roamed the arena. "Many of our experienced otome would have said otherwise."

The Gakuenchou nodded, but this didn't soothe the nerves which were stalking forward. Only Garderobe knew her state of condition. But… it was time to reveal her recovery to the world.

"Shizuru, I need help with planning a script…" Natsuki sheepishly spoke, closing her mouth upon Shizuru's look. "It isn't funny." She pouted. "I would think Sara would be my best bet to dealing with Aries."

She just hoped there wouldn't be any cheesy lines...

"I will help…" Shizuru smiled, lifting a hand to get the other Aries native's attention. "Sara will as well, if she accepts."

"Thank you," Natsuki murmured.

At the back of her mind, Natsuki wondered whether the stress would get the better of her.

One by one, the otome were grouped together into their positions. The columns were via the front of the camera with the Aries meister either side.

Upon the arranging, Natsuki felt something gnaw within her mind, a strange feeling sinking into her stomach. She had never experienced anything like this. Preparing for a full scale war… and with so much at stake. But, she knew there was no other way. Aries was far too stubborn to back down. They must be just as confused as she was about the entire incident.

Yohko arrived shortly, holding a device smaller than her hand. "This should do the trick. Let's test it, get you moving naturally with it."

Eyes catching hold of the holographic device, Natsuki bit her lip. "I need to be in the… holo stuff, right? Shouldn't I put that on first?"

"We need to make sure you're moving naturally first." The scientist spoke, twisting around only momentarily. In this short time, she flicked her hand towards an otome, the woman carting over the supplies she required. Everything was in this trolley of sorts; from holographic material, cameras and even lights.

Natsuki winced at the amount of things to be readied, and gave a groan. "I haven't even decided how I'll be moving…"

"Well, just move, kiddo." The doctor teased, clipping it onto the lapel of the Gakuenchou's jacket.

"Don't laugh." Natsuki whispered, backing off a bit and looking to the camera. She practiced just walking side to side, shaking her head and doing it three more times.

"Perhaps it'd be better if she could speak with someone?" Mai suggested, brushing past Sara who was by Shizuru's side. She nodded to the two woman hurriedly. "The students are fine, they are wondering what is happening. Yukariko has managed to distract them till now."

"Good." Shizuru nodded, though looked to Mai and silently gestured she be the one to talk with Natsuki.

"I think she would appreciate and benefit from it more if it were Mai." The Archmeister smiled, bowing her head.

"Eh," Mai cleared her throat. What would she even talk about? Directing her eyes upon Natsuki, "Any ideas?" She shot at her, coming to stand a few feet away from the Gakuenchou.

"Oh… No." Natsuki sheepishly admitted, still very much aware of the device hanging from her jacket.

Mai smiled, easing closer and winding an arm around the Gakuenchou's waist. "Relax! Pretend it's like one of those balls we had to attend. Way too stuffy, but we had to act natural, right?"

"...Right…" She actually remembered that; When they were still students. They had been taught to dance, and Mai had always been her partner…

Natsuki flushed, clearing her throat as she turned towards the redhead. "Could you… Er…"

"You want to dance a bit?"

"Please?"

Natsuki knew it had been a long while since last she danced. Vaguely from the top of her mind she pondered just how long it might have been.

She felt the searing stares of fellow meister against her, but she pushed it aside. "Just like the balls? Who is leading here?" She frowned at Mai, the royal snickering.

"Honestly, you always led. But, I'll take the lead… see if you remember how to move without that cane." Mai winked, the older woman flustered.

Looking to the Archmeister for permission, the redhead turned to fully face Natsuki and grasped her hands. "One hand on my shoulder, and hold the other."

"Um…" The Gakuenchou looked to Shizuru for the same reason; The elder seemingly fairly amused. "Okay…"

"There we go… Now, if we had music, we would follow the beat. Since we don't, I'll have to improvise…" Mai grinned almost deviously, and Natsuki began to regret this decision.

Beginning to hum, the redhead put pressure against Natsuki's hip and forced her back a step.

"Oi, I want to move forward…"

"I'm leading, Natsuki."

"I want to lead…"

"You are really stubborn, you know?" Mai snorted, shaking her head. It was charming, really.

The redhead began to hum again, the two switching positions; Natsuki's free hand on Mai's waist and the redhead's smoothing out the Gakuenchou's lapel.

Listening to the song, the older woman tried to block everything else out as she took a shaky step forwards, Mai taking one back.

That's how it was… Licking her lips, Natsuki took another step forward, turning Mai towards the side as they began to sway. It was oddly relaxing, and before Natsuki knew it, it had ended. To be honest she even felt a little disappointment, and awkwardly turned. "Ah, um…"

"Don't worry about it." The royal assured. "Now be the Gakuenchou we all know and love." As easy as that sounded.

Natsuki huffed, unconsciously gnawing at her cheek for a brief second. She exhaled, breathing slowly. "Alright…" She murmured. "Yohko. I am ready."

"Good." Taking the device from the Gakuenchou's lapel, the doctor held onto it and addressed her with the garb to wear.

"You can wear it over your uniform, it shouldn't matter."

"..." Looking to Shizuru, she eyed the garb and slowly stepped into it. It was an odd piece, feeling like silk with a faint grating to it…

Needless to say, she didn't like it.

But this was her cheat card. Nor was it like she was going to be wearing this all the time. Natsuki was literally going to wear it for… what? An hour tops?

Shrugging the odd material over herself, Natsuki winced when Yohko attached the device onto it. Instantly the hologram activated, and she froze, staring down at the imagery which flickered for only a moment.

Displayed upon the fabric was a perfect rendition of her robe; Every detail down to the elongated hairpin which she felt in her hair. She could feel it as if it was real…

As if the nano-machines were charging just from the display of the robe…

Standing strongly, Natsuki felt a boost of confidence, a smug smirk settling on her face.

The only difference was no ridiculous discs or heels!

"Aries otome!" She rose her voice, gathering the women closer to her. She personally arranged them, none of the meister materialised, but in their original Aries uniforms.

This would certainly bite them the wrong way...

"Perfect…" She nodded to them, rubbing her chin before waving a hand for Miss Maria. "I want you in sight as well… Materialised."

Expressionless, Miss Maria's expression finally tensed. She frowned, brushing her fingertips against her GEM with silent consideration. She smiled up to the Gakuenchou almost pitifully, exhaling. "Nobody has seen this form for a long time. Perhaps you're fortunate, Gakuenchou."

"Materialise!"

Grayed hair turned a most spectacular golden; Natsuki watching with an awed expression as the epitome transformed into a younger version of herself right before her eyes.

The meister surrounding Miss Maria, stared at her, the Lutecian merely lifting her chin. "Do you all think I have always been an old woman?" She bit at them, staring only harder at the women. With the silence continuing, Maria sighed.

"...Seems like it's time they did, hm?" The Gakuenchou finally spoke, Maria giving a softer smile.

"Perhaps it is."

"...Yohko, I have a question. Will it… replicate my weapon?" She turned her attention to the doctor, excited.

"I'm afraid not, Gakuenchou. Your weapon might have even changed due to a number of things. Trauma, for one. Personality shifts; For example, you getting cheekier and more confident…" Yohko began, shrugging.

"I'm sure that once you can materialise, it might be different altogether."

That could be a problem in the long run, but…

Natsuki glanced at Miss Maria again, the woman looking no older than forty.

Was this the age Maria had been during the time of Sifr being discovered? If so… would this mean Rena Sayers could recognize her?

She was very smart; Shizuru mused, nodding as she too saw the connection between Maria having materialised. Natsuki was very smart, and was remembering more, even if she did not realise it herself.

Monica would recognize Maria too. Perhaps Garderobe could use that to sway the Schwarz Valkyrja…

"Gakuenchou, are you ready?" Yohko stood behind the camera settled on its tripod, the lights setting up around them dramatically.

Her heart leapt into her stomach, and for a split second, Natsuki panicked. She managed to control that aspect, but ignored her weak leg shaking with nerves.

She had done this all before…

'Breathe, Natsuki.'

Taking a look around, the Gakuenchou nodded towards her. "We're ready."

The columns positioned themselves behind her, and they were ready to go. Over a hundred otome in one shot, to be broadcasted directly to Aries and the rest of the globe…

"Remember this isn't live," Yohko reminded.

Wetting her lips, Natsuki nodded hurriedly, notioning Miss Maria to fall in place beside Mayha.

"Aries Republic." Natsuki spoke levelly, staring directly into the lens of the camera.

"No doubt you are surprised to see me… Awake, alive?" She felt a little foolish, as it wasn't live, but she couldn't let that stop her.

"Far more than just alive… I am thriving in Garderobe, at my full health and at a better physical pique than I have dare say ever been." She stood tall, displaying her full height and taking a broader stance to magnify it.

"We will not be threatened by the likes of you. I don't go down easily, nor does the rest of us." Flinging her arm outwards, she paused, breathing sharply. "Right in this arena, there are over one hundred of us. Might I ask you how many you have, other than a brigadier general and a few stragglers?"

Shizuru watched her, silently proud of how well she was controlling the situation.

"Not only do we outnumber Aries as a whole, our power could outnumber far more alone." Natsuki continued on, looking to the side for Sara.

If the blonde was uncomfortable, she did not show it.

"Whatever caused that incident, and yes it did happen… Unless you surrender peacefully, we will enter this, and destroy you."

"Please try and not forget the cost of what the Twelve Nation War and Dragon King War had been. Yet another war because of such pettiness will do nothing for our society."

Natsuki rose her hands to waist height, hands clenched into fists before she took one step forward and splayed her hands, the motion intimidating in nature. "Do not let that become Aries. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a global announcement to contend with."

With that, Yohko shut the filming off, and the otome breathed a sigh of relief.

The Gakuenchou slumped a bit, lifting her weak leg up briefly before she stood straight again.

"A very good speech." Shizuru smiled, coming forward with a cloth to wipe at the younger woman's face.

"Thank you… I hope it works." Natsuki leaned into the cool cloth, skin flushed just a little due to the lights.

"They might be too shocked to see you up and about." Mayha grinned, propping her knuckles against her hip. As the otome manoeuvred, she dragged Mai over to their small group, the royal yelping. "I suggest we have a bit of fun for this arrangement."

"...Fun?" Natsuki frowned, the others peaking interest.

"Let's have our meister paired together with their country's enemies. We have never cared for a country being stuck up for another - let's show this full throttle."

"Very true…" Natsuki smirked, crossing her arms. "Everyone, pair up."

Instantly, and much to Miss Maria's annoyance, she found herself slot between Carla and Laura. She sighed quietly, clasping her hands before herself, ignoring the stares which the two fellow Lutecians fired at her.

"Remus, Romulus and Lutecia…" She murmured to them. "Who would have thought to see these otome together?"

"No, Miss Maria." The pair spoke jointly.

Cutting between the otome, almost all the Aries meister were paired with ones from Windbloom. Any stragglers were then paired with Altai and Zipang.

"Alright…" Natsuki rubbed briefly at her chin, nodding to herself as she eyed everyone's position.

If she herself had to pick an enemy…

Seeing as Kruger Country was part of Aries, she would say it would be… Altai. The only otome from Altai being students; Nao and Nina.

So, she herself stood alone like the first broadcast. Taking a breath, she faced the camera again and gave a short nod.

"One might question; how am I alive?

Aries Republic, the Hexagon

"President, Garderobe has sent two announcements."

With the statement spoken, Yukino glanced up from her desk, pen in hand. She stared at the man, pushing her glasses back up her nose securely.

"What has happened?" She winced upon the question, wondering just what Garderobe had to say. "They have been quiet since… that event."

"With good reason."

Immediately, regret danced on the face of the woman who had spoke, forest eyes glaring over towards the employee.

"Put it on. But please, make sure Haruka doesn't know. Not yet."

Yukino wasn't ready for the general's reaction. She had her suspicions of what it might be, and dread floated within her stomach. It was a creeping sensation, and her heart beat faster once the employee activated the projector.

"Aries Republic. No doubt you are surprised to see me… Awake, alive?"

It was exactly what she had been fearing. Although, she had feared the Gakuenchou's death even more. "Is this really her?" Yukino asked, eyes glued to the screen as the announcement continued.

"Right in this arena, there are over one hundred of us. Might I ask you how many you have, other than a brigadier general and a few stragglers?"

"We have every reason to believe so." The employee replied, eyes trailing across the holographic-Gakuenchou's body. "Our experts have studied it and she matches all records."

"...Well, it's half good news, at least. Half… very, very bad." Yukino clasped her hands together under her nose, studying the announcement down to the last detail.

"...She looks very mad."

"Anyone would be after being bludgeoned across the head." Yukino sighed. Either way, the outcome of this would have been bad. "I am unsure what to do," she continued. Leaning her elbows against the desk, Yukino strained, rubbing along her temples. "I do not want a war."

"Whatever caused that incident, and yes it did happen… Unless you surrender peacefully, we will enter this, and destroy you."

Yukino swallowed hard, brows furrowing as she inspected the final pose of the Gakuenchou closely.

"She has… changed."

"A confidence boost, perhaps?" The male suggested. "Something must have happened for her to change this much."

The announcement ended, and it automatically skipped to the global one. The worry and concentration pasted along Yukino's features tightened, clasped hands tensing.

"One might question; how am I alive?

Tense hands now wrung themselves out, Yukino shifting in her spot as she stared and tried to memorize. The Aries otome… Brazenly displayed.

Eyes widening, she pointed a finger towards the side. "They are… addressing Schwartz. Maria Graceburt is materialised…" How had she only just noticed?

Anyone with a fair amount of knowledge would know Maria's appearance whilst materialised. She was one of the most famous otome of their time, a pedestal for Garderobe's antiquity.

All of the otome were paired together… "They are with their country's enemy." She murmured in realisation. Almost all of Aries' otome were with either Windbloom, or Altai meister! This visual message was… Terrifying.

"They are far more organized than we thought." Yukino murmured, seeing the changes that had been put forth. "This is not going to end well… Perhaps we should- No. No, we've got to… Stay."

A firm hand was needed for this. They hadn't agreed for surrender, as much as Yukino hated the concept. She exhaled, the notion shaky, and she quietly asked for the man to leave. "Please, fetch me Haruka. And the film crew."

This wasn't going to end well.

"Everyone is under lockdown? Airspace secured?" Natsuki strode powerfully about the laboratory, the confidence from the broadcasts still permeating around her.

"Everything is secured, all students and faculty in their rightful places during this time. If retaliation is taken immediately and sloppily, we will be ready." Yohko assured, at her computer and typing away.

"Good." Natsuki seemed restless, but happy; Striding and pacing before she circled back towards Shizuru.

Her cane was on one of the many tables which littered the lab, having refused to use it. For the time being it was only her, Shizuru, Yohko and Mayha. Many of the other otome had stayed up on the surface, in case of attack.

"In case of a battle, will the Shinso lift the master to meister laws?" Natsuki questioned, regarding Yohko who continued to type haphazardly.

"If necessary, yes."

"And… Under other circumstances, the Shinso herself would activate and defend the academy?"

"Again, if necessary. If she is damaged, however, and the power source needs to be changed, one of you will need to take her place."

"...What?" Natsuki's eyes were wide, the Gakuenchou freezing in place.

"It has never happened, remember that." Mayha notified gently, clasping her hand atop Natsuki's shoulder. She grinned, shaking the younger woman from her thoughts. "Besides, one of us columns replacing the Shinso's image? Can you imagine me with my elements? Ridiculous!" Mayha snickered, laughing.

Natsuki chuckled lowly, rubbing the nape of her neck. "Right, right… She'll be fine." She smiled, leaning into Mayha briefly.

"Any sign of an attack?" She returned her attention upon Yohko, the doctor humming before denying.

"You really seem itching for a fight, Gakuenchou. Did you forget it was a holographic suit, and not your real robe?" The doctor teased, snorting.

Closing her mouth to restrain herself from huffing, Natsuki grumbled.

"I still don't understand." The muttering echoed across the lab, and the women glanced towards the stairs. An aged Miss Maria was walking steadily down the stairs, Shiho in tow. "I've always had my abilities."

"Precisely, Huit." Turning once reaching the floor, Miss Maria turned, hands clasped. She stared at the diamond student, narrowing her eyes. "This information is strictly off limits. Only the columns and myself know."

Natsuki turned towards them, grinning excitedly.

"The Gakuenchou's favorite student has landed." Mayha snickered, nudging Natsuki as she crossed to Yohko to see if she could assist.

"The others I've seen are mostly cocky." Natsuki shot back, not even refuting the claim.

Glancing between the epitome and Natsuki, Shiho frowned in confusion. She looked to Shizuru as if seeking an answer, but the Archmeister merely shook her head. Whether in amusement, the student didn't know, but guided her attention back up to Natsuki. "Why am I here? Everyone is in lockdown?"

"Before everything got so muddled up, the Shinso had a request after we met with her." Natsuki smiled down to the younger woman, unconsciously leaning onto her stronger leg. "She wants to meet with you."

"Me?" Shiho arched a brow.

"Take the underground passage." Yohko lifted a hand, never turning away from the computer. She swiftly typed a few commands, a darked passageway being lightened up. It was a dead end from what could be observed from up on the platform. But as Yohko typed away, a wall lifted, revealing an old tunnel.

"I never knew about this…" Natsuki frowned, mouth agape slightly. She tore her eyes from the old passage, the wall slowing to a grinding hault. Looking for any clues from the others, she was rewarded without any.

Mayha shrugged, Shizuru shook her head slowly.

However, Miss Maria…

"It was built by the Archmeister of my time." The elder confirmed. "After the events of the Dragon King War, she had suggested it be done so. The entrance on the surface was to be bulldozed."

This information, although old, but new, was absorbed slowly by the younger women. Yohko even twisted around, but only briefly.

"...Why wasn't the surface entrance bulldozed? Did she change her mind, or was there not enough time?" Natsuki asked, eyes on the tunnel and trying to memorize how exactly it had opened.

The Old Lutecian smiled sadly. "She died in battle just a few months after rushing my graduation. Her memorial was the first to be placed within that tunnel. Naturally, it is called the Archmeister's Passage."

"Oh." Natsuki stood there, quiet for a moment more. "I am sorry… Do you think the above entrance should be bulldozed now, in her memory?"

"Perhaps. Such a landmark would give away the Shinso's position within moments." Becoming stoic once more, Miss Maria began her stride down the steps which led to the lower floor. "Come along, Huit."

Shiho looked up to the Gakuenchou, giving a look of skepticism before she followed the epitome, mumbling along the way.

Natsuki grinned, watching them before Shizuru startled her with a low tone. "Natsuki really does favor Huit."

"She's… Well. I guess it's the powers? We're… alike?"

Perhaps it was also the fact Shiho was treated similarly to how she had also? Natsuki herself had naturally had her rivals, but… She didn't know how to explain it, so she wouldn't.

"Natsuki is wearing her nostalgia goggles." Shizuru partially covered her lips, eyes lighting with amusement. Natsuki simply mumbled at her, glancing down as Shiho and Miss Maria ventured out of sight.

"I still want to know what this… HiME business is." Natsuki murmured quietly, Shizuru only in earshot.

"As do I…" Shizuru admitted, tawny brows furrowing just faintly.

Natsuki addressed her, eyes sweeping along the elder's expression. "You're not jealous, are you?" It wasn't even a tease, more a cautious question.

"Mm? Not at all. I made Natsuki scream and scramble just by materialising my robe."

"S-Shizuru, we agreed not to bring that up…"

Overhearing that last bit of conversation, Mayha leaned in curiously. Natsuki jumped, the woman grinning over her shoulder. "Make her scream, Shiz? I thought you do on a daily basis."

"Mayha!"

"B-but we should consider the armour." Natsuki coughed into her fist awkwardly, glaring daggers at Mayha. "Shizuru, do you think it will be ready before anything happens?"

"I should hope so… But, I believe it will be."

"...Perhaps we should go see?" Natsuki suggested.

"I'll go and fetch Sara." Mayha issued, waving Yohko off to jog towards the stairs. Before either of the women knew it, the elder column had deftly climbed the steep stairs. Dodging two steps at a time.

"She sure is excited." Natsuki pointed out, though she would be lying if she didn't admit the same. Though, what exactly could she do…?

Shizuru appraised the Gakuenchou, studying her momentarily before her lips spread into a slow smirk. "Natsuki cannot do much, yet… But I am sure the armour would look dashing on her."

"Shizuru, please…" Natsuki turned her focus upon the Archmeister. Absorbing in the appearance of that smirk, she cocked a brow. "Are you thinking of something dirty again, Shizuru?"

"Perhaps." Shizuru winked, idling by the younger's side as they waited. "Personally, I cannot wait to see her in action."

"I am going to be sloppy, I'm afraid." The Gakuenchou muttered, scratching her neck. Upon this notion, she sighed, allowing her hand to drop back to her side. "I hope my element hasn't changed too much." Frowning at this, but twitching, a static met her skin as her hand bumped against Shizuru's.

"Natsuki may shock me." The Archmeister teased, lifting her hand to hold within her own.

"Hah…" Natsuki shook her head, finding the elder silly for a moment. That little electric touch… Had Shizuru noticed, or was it simply in her own mind?

It only happened with the elder, perhaps it was that little spark between them?

"You're being cheesy, Shizuru. I thought that was my job?" Natsuki muttered, biting down a curl attempting to meet her lips. Purposely she looked away from the elder woman, muttering under her breath.

"It is only natural to be a little cheesy, Natsuki." Shizuru smiled, transfixing her gaze slowly on Natsuki who stared at the computer. "... A surge of energy may help a relationship, but it is what you do with it."

Upon this dialogue, the Gakuenchou looked back to her. "Didn't you say that… when I was a coral?" She arched a brow at Shizuru whom nodded.

Natsuki peered down to the floor, thinking, and slipped her hand slightly from Shizuru's. It was merely recaptured again, Shizuru gently holding her ring and pinky fingers.

The elder playing with her hand, Natsuki watched for a moment before smiling. "I am glad we do what we do with it, then." She lifted her eyes to Shizuru's, the older woman agreeing softly.

"I'm not even sure why I was so… skittish back then?" The Gakuenchou asked, the pair watching Yohko flick amongst menus. "It wasn't like you wanted to eat m-actually, that's questionable."

Shizuru covered her mouth with her free hand, stifling a giggle beneath her palm. "Natsuki has become so naughty…"

"Oi, hope you're not making out down there." Mayha, Sara in tow, rejoined them.

"Please." Yohko muttered dryly, their attention being snatched to her instead. "If they had been, I would've kicked them out." The doctor never faced them, simply typing away quickly.

Natsuki sent them both a look, though obviously the doctor couldn't care less, and turned to the other members of the columns. They needed their fifth member, soon…

Whoever that'd be.

"I think I should ask the Shinso about our missing column…" Natsuki murmured, pressing her fingers to her lips in thought. "It has been… sixteen years?" Natsuki mused, looking between the fellow columns.

Shizuru nodded in affirmation, taking a thoughtful stance. "The Shinso did not seem all too concerned about it… During your coma, either."

What exactly was going on in that AI's mind? Was the Shinso beginning to lose her touch, Natsuki pondered? "I think we columns," Natsuki paused. "Must all visit her."

"I agree. After the armour." Shizuru reminded her, the Gakuenchou nodding. Now that they were all together…

Turning to Yohko, Natsuki spent a moment taking a mental inventory of which machines were on once more. There always seemed to be too many…

The doctor was certainly up to something… for the negative or positive though? Natsuki wasn't sure which. Perhaps she could have somebody keep an eye on Yohko?

But who would be able to keep under Yohko Helene's detection?

"We have prototypes for the armour, right?" Natsuki questioned, turning her focus back on the columns.

"But of course. Two types of them, actually." Yohko joined in, drawing from her computer after a few more keystrokes. A beam of light filled the center of the platform, spurring Natsuki to step back hurriedly.

The Gakuenchou flushed, realizing it was merely a hologram, and gave the doctor a look.

"Skittish." Yohko teased, manipulating the beam into a shape.

Sliding off from her chair, Yohko paused mid-step, inputting a few more keys. Lights surrounding the platform shut off, leaving only downstairs floor and hologram on. "We have a light version for nanomachine manipulation, and a heavy form which is a total summoning."

"Light, and heavy?" Natsuki repeated, standing close to Shizuru.

"Correct. With light armour, it is summoned through will and nanomachine manipulation; It works without a robe. As such, it is more suited for… Stealth." Yohko paused, the hologram being switched to a heavier decorated armour.

"Heavy armour; Summoned by robe only. Complete and powerful, more suited with direct combat."

"This armour will sure look strange on me." Mayha chuckled. She neared the hologram, leaning forward, and studied it. "How strong do you think it will be out of prototype and in development?"

Passing a questionable glance towards Yohko, the column turned her attention to Sara. "We already can never detect Sara. How will it improve our stealth otome?"

"With Sara, it is possible to detect her, if you look hard enough. Her outline shimmers… With the light armour, even that shall be masked. Truly undetectable, even by heat and sonar." Yohko crossed her arms, obviously proud of her work.

"Strength, that will truly depend. Heavy will be much stronger than the robe itself, as it has to be to protect it. Light will be less strong, but durable."

"A cheat card, of sorts?" Shizuru suggested. "I assume when significant damage is taken, the armour begins to crumble? Alike to an overwhelmed robe, for instance?"

"Exactly that." Yohko smiled in response, striding forward.

"...Is it possible to summon them again once damage is taken and they crumble?" Natsuki tilted her head, extremely curious.

Yohko paused, nodding. "It will be, though the time will be tricky. I can get the time frame between it being summoned again down as short as… ten seconds."

"Imagine Aries' faces when they see this." Mayha snorted. Curiously, the Mauryan-native glanced at Sara, seeking her reaction.

The blonde appeared settled, but caught her eye. "What?" The youngest column implied. Cocking a brow at Mayha, Sara frowned, glancing down to the floor. "Will the amethyst and diamond years be having similar armour for training?"

"A much lighter version of each, I think. They will be tested to see which is better for them." Yohko brushed off her coat, brows furrowing as she set her attention onto the hologram once more.

"Which is better for each of us?" Natsuki spoke once more, side-lining a glance for Sara and Mayha.

Shoving her hands into her pockets, the medical scientist shrugged. "That's where testing comes in. You might be surprised which one could suit you best."

Truthfully, Natsuki didn't see herself suiting the light version. Nor could she imagine Shizuru in it. But Mayha and Sara? Surely those two would have the light forms?

"When will they be available for testing?" Natsuki crossed her arms, curious about getting to try them both out.

"A few more days. You four will of course be the first ones to try them out."

"We test to make sure they don't blow up on us?" Mayha piped up, Sara silently shaking her head.

No matter how many years past, Sara couldn't help but understand why Mayha brushed Miss Maria the wrong way.

"They won't blow up. Yet, even if they did, you would survive." Yohko waved that comment away, though pressed a few keys.

It took Natsuki a moment to realize she was setting up a simulation in the hologram; Mayha the chosen one to be portrayed.

"See, if it should… explode-" The hologram's armour burst into comical flames, complete with smoke. "It would disintegrate itself before the fire would spread."

"What about fire otome like Mai?" Sara murmured, pondering.

"She could control the flame; Manipulate it into a weapon itself. Of course, the armour will not explode." Yohko chuckled softly, the image of Mayha as the hologram switching to the Gakuenchou's figure.

Natsuki cocked a brow, noticing the small figure of herself coating her armour in crystal.

"The Gakuenchou would no doubt preserve her armour's span of life using the crystal…"

They heard Mayha snicker, and Natsuki merely sighed, rubbing her temples. "Wouldn't this impact my robe? Shouldn't we reserve energy when using this armour?"

"If you are up against something that would kill you once the armour dissipates, would you reserve energy or not?" Yohko blankly stared.

"...I would save the armour, then."

"Yes, you would."

Perhaps she could make it… hibernate? Put it into a form of standby? That would surely reserve energy to help it. Only time would tell when they were physically testing these prototypes.

"Say." Sara spoke, snatching their attention. "Do you have any made yet, or are their designs only ready?"

"Unfortunately, just the designs. However, it should not take long to make two of each for the four of you…" Yohko's eyes raked over them, no doubt knowing their measurements for safety issues.

"I will need to measure the Gakuenchou again, however, due to muscle and weight loss."

"A-" Closing her mouth, Natsuki momentarily glanced at Shizuru. "Alright." She uttered quietly, dragging her eyes from the taller woman.

The Archmeister never removed her eyes from Natsuki. She regarded her silently, watching for any signs of discomfort.

There didn't appear to be any.

"Sara, Mayha, I will call you when they are ready. Give the Gakuenchou privacy." Yohko shooed the other two women out, the Mauryan-native snickering.

"There is one issue, other than measurements." The doctor spoke once more, turning back to the two heads of the academy.

"The fourth column."

"Hm… we know." Natsuki spoke, trailing. "The Shinso is… acting…" She narrowed her eyes, thinking. "Iffy?" She regarded Yohko, the scientistic cocking an eyebrow.

"The Shinso does not appear to want to appoint a new column." Shizuru spoke up. "We columns are to meet with her later and discuss it."

"Good. Once you do, if there is one appointed, bring her to me for measurements." Yohko smiled, taking a long strip of marked tape from her desk.

Beckoned forwards, Natsuki stood and splayed her arms out.

Yohko spoke, measuring carefully over her uniform. "Since the armour comes in over your robe, and clothing, I will take these measurements for the light armour. Once you can summon your robe, I will see about trying you with the heavy set."

"Wouldn't trying to use my nano-machines at all be dangerous?"

"It shouldn't be as long as it isn't your robe." Yohko shook her head, confirming.

Taking all the required measurements and inputting them into her computer, Yohko paused. "This should be all for now." With one hand shoved within her pocket, and standing by the computer, she nodded. She continued to type with her free hand, flicking between menus.

"Alright… We will let you know what the Shinso decides." Natsuki nodded, turning to Shizuru in case the elder had anything to say.

Appreciating the gesture, Shizuru shook her head faintly and turned. "Until then, Yohko."

"This place is still creepy." Mayha whistled, slinging her arms behind her head. She tailgated after the other columns lazily, looking between the pillars. "Even if this passage is only fifty years old."

"There are so many memorials already…" Sara quietly acknowledged. It was honestly strange to venture down these corridors without Miss Maria. It was almost off putting.

"There are." Natsuki murmured back, leading the way. There was… something about the lights, or rather, lack of lighting down here that gave her a persisting headache…

Or, maybe it wasn't a headache? Perhaps her scar just… hurt down here.

Shizuru carefully grasped her sleeve, turning them the right way down a corridor once Natsuki made it clear she hadn't been paying attention to their path. "Oh, sorry."

"Don't get yourself lost." Natsuki heard, shooting a glare behind her shoulder to Mayha.

"... I still don't forgive you for that time." Natsuki huffed, twisting her focus back in front of her.

"Not my fault you were so gullible…" Mayha snickered, though balked when the Archmeister secured her with a glare.

"Er…"

Shaking her head, Natsuki slowed when she realized they were nearing the chamber. The Shinso made her so nervous; Hands curling into fists before she forced herself to relax.

Who wouldn't? The Shinso was terrifying. The mere concept of the word wasn't enough as it was.

"Shall I speak with her?" Shizuru murmured closely to her ear. The Archmeister neared her form close to Natsuki's body, the other two staring curiously.

"...Please." She still did not grasp the full symbolism nor idea that the Shinso stood for; It… Intimidated her.

"Oh… I forgot the Shinso saw Shiho a while back." The Gakuenchou barely realised.

"Correct." Shizuru smiled. Turning to Sara and Mayha, she lifted her voice. "The Shinso might be disagreeable tonight."

She hoped Shiho hadn't angered her. Natsuki bit her bottom lip, rubbing her hands together nervously.

Then again, students were with Miss Maria at all times when with the Shinso. Not to mention, the retired otome would've told them overwise.

Natsuki was just probably overreacting.

...Right?

"Can we wait a moment?" Natsuki blurted out, following closer to Shizuru. She needed to relax…

"...Of course." Shizuru smiled softly, motioning the others not to speak.

Why was she so… miffed about the Shinso? Natsuki didn't understand why. Surely defeating her once before would help her… fear?

Just barely, she could see the Shinso's statue from down the chamber. She could only see her outline and shadow, but even so…

Something just felt so… wrong about her.

Not to mention, she had to fight her again… Natsuki swallowed thickly, almost having forgotten that tidbit. She wondered when, and if the Shinso even knew.

Then again, it wasn't her exactly, but still…

Why was she so terrified of an artificial intelligence? Was it because… it wasn't human? Perhaps it was because the Shinso had Hime no Fumi's personality downloaded?

Maybe there were… more personalities…? Natsuki cringed.

"Are you alright?" Shizuru worriedly asked her, frowning. She neared Natsuki delicately, clasping her palm to the Gakuenchou's shoulder. "Natsuki?"

"Huh? Oh… Sorry. I guess I got lost in thought." She smiled softly to Shizuru, nodding to the anxious look. "I'm fine… Let's just get this over with."

"If you are sure?" With a nod, Shizuru paused.

"So we going, right?" Mahya asked her, the Archmeister smiling. Striding forth, Mayha nudged the Aries-native, gesturing for Sara to follow.

Natsuki cleared her mind, shaking her head minutely as she followed in step with the older woman once more. She was behind the other columns, but she didn't care. Perhaps the Shinso wouldn't directly focus on her?

This was probably doubtful.

"H-hang on…" Stuttering, and pausing mid-step, Natsuki held her breath. Clenching her teeth together tensely, she leant against the wall. "Hang on… a minute."

"Gakuenchou?" Mayha expressed concern, a hand hovering in an attempt to rest on Natsuki's shoulder before she caught the Archmeister's eye; Shizuru shaking her head.

Natsuki did not need physical contact right now… Not from either of them, that is.

"I'll be…" Lifting a hand to the three women, Natsuki sighed. The intake of breath was shaky, and she shook her head. Slothfully, she knelt down against the wall, crouching.

Shizuru stepped close, but gave room to breathe. They just need to wait, she would come out of this herself soon enough.

It was a panic attack, or perhaps even a meltdown the Gakuenchou was experiencing. Honestly Shizuru wasn't entirely sure. Motionless beside Natsuki, she remained silent, but nodded towards the others.

"I know you're very uncomfortable right now." Shizuru murmured softly, the switch of her speaking prompting Sara and Mayha to look away. "We won't leave you alone down here. I promise."

Glancing up for only for a moment, Natsuki quickly nodded. She smiled weakly, attempting to slow her breathing.

Natsuki could… remember this. Had she had anxiety?

Shizuru seemed to read her face, and smiled faintly. The elder nodded once to confirm her thoughts, brushing off her skirt as she did so.

"Natsuki used to, and does, have anxiety. Mostly due to the Shinso, and the one time that she… attacked Natsuki."

"...Why now…?" Natsuki gestured to her state. Wobbling another breath, she slouched. "W-wait… that was a stupid question…"

A weight hefted her down, even though Natsuki knew for definite this wasn't true. She strained, attempting to regain her breath properly, but this seemed impossible. Especially with the cold sweat on her back and the tingling of muscles.

"Not a stupid question." Shizuru smiled to her, hands clasped at her front. "Miss Maria saved her last time, and Miss Maria is not here now."

"Ah…" Wetting her lips and staring at nothing in particular for a moment, Natsuki frowned. "You're being too formal still, Shizuru." Natsuki glanced up to her, but sat herself down fully. "Um…"

"Don't worry about it." Mayha waved them off, prodding the younger blonde. "Let's go, there's someone I want to meet down here anyway."

"Ah, alright." Sara nodded to the Archmeister, following after the Mauryan-native.

"I'm sorry, Natsuki." Shizuru murmured, tucking in her skirt as she slowly came to her knees beside the Gakuenchou. "Do you need anything?"

"I just need… a moment." The words chosen appeared to be carefully picked. Shaking her head, but more in disagreement with herself, Natsuki sighed. "Come here."

Easing closer, Shizuru tilted her head. "Anything."

Unable to think of anything to say, the Gakuenchou grasped for her. Clutching Shizuru's forearms, she gently lured her over.

"I'm here…" Shizuru sat close, looping an arm around the younger in an attempt for comfort.

"Thank you…" Natsuki murmured quietly. She continued to keep her hands upon the Archmeister's forearms. Honesty she was unsure what to do with them. So for the time being, she merely kept them there.

"I'll always be here for you, Natsuki." Shizuru smiled, leaning in to press her nose against the younger's temple. She kissed softly once at her cheek, just resting against her.

"Even in a dank place like this?" Natsuki couldn't help but chuckle. "I don't think this place suits me well. There are far too many dead otome here." It almost felt like they were listening in on them.

"I would follow you anywhere." Shizuru nuzzled a bit, pulling back to regard their surroundings briefly. "Try not to think of the dead as… such. They are here in memoriam, and should never be feared by their leader."

"It isn't that I'm afraid. It is more… I'm sad for them." Natsuki leaned back into the elder, ignoring the cold of the floor. "So many of them died so young. Some weren't even adults."

"I know." Shizuru whispered, lifting a hand to settle into coal locks and petted. "War takes anyone of any descendant no matter the circumstance, Natsuki. But no more, not with us."

"What do you mean by that…?" Natsuki paused, closing her eyes as Shizuru inhaled her scent. "Oh... Do you mean this war?"

"Mm. We will stop it before it gets too far; Before people senselessly die. I promise." Shizuru held her tighter, pulling back to look her over. "Now. Shall we try again?"

"But will we?" The question remained in the air, and if anything quickly became stale. "Forget I said that." Natsuki nodded anyway, and slowly heaved herself up.

"We will." Shizuru stood with her, brushing off her skirt and the tail-end of Natsuki's coat.

"Come… Are you ready, now?"

"I think so?" Natsuki drifted her hand towards Shizuru and caught hold of it. She wrapped her fingers between the elder's, relaxing them against Shizuru's joints.

"Good." Holding Natsuki's hand happily, Shizuru tucked close into her side. "Just this way…"

Along the way of their slow walk, Sara and Mayha caught up with them. The two kept their distance, but murmured between one another.

"Just tell her…" Mayha uttered quietly.

Natsuki looked to Shizuru, resisting the urge to look back at the two of them. What were they talking about…?

"You like her, right? She doesn't care about that class crap."

"That doesn't matter!" Sara shook her head, frowning over to Mayha. "I am a commoner, what's worse, I am from Ar-"

"You're both otome. Like that matters."

Brows furrowing, Natsuki finally looked back at them. "What are you two whispering about now?" She grumbled, catching Shizuru's attention.

"This can wait, can it not, Mayha?" The Archmeister refused to whisper, sending back a stern glance.

Cocking a brow as the Archmeister turned her back, Mayha glanced towards Sara. The blonde was still uncomfortable. But even so, Sara had been behaving strangely way before today.

"Whatever you say, Archmeister."

Tutting quietly, Shizuru led them forwards before stopping just shy of the Shinso's chamber. Turning to Natsuki, she fixed the younger's disheveled collar. "Ready?"

"I am now." Natsuki smiled, lifting her chin out of the way of the elder's fingers. "Let's find out who the fourth column is, finally?"

Flocking into the large chamber, like before, the lights followed after them. The columns halted their position before the Shinso, lowering.

She came to life once more, movements melting from mechanical to fluid as the Shinso surveyed them.

Natsuki bowed with the other three, scooting in to Shizuru's side after a moment. She wondered if the Shinso remembered the attack, and why she had done so?

"Current columns. Alpha, Sara Gallagher. Second, the Gakuenchou, Natsuki Kruger. Third, the Archmeister, Shizuru Viola. Finally, the fifth, Mayha Blythe." The statue stilled for a moment, shifting her robotic gaze between them. "I have recorded your progress. Your GEMs are reporting a strain, a glitch of emotion. The loss of the fourth column, I may have a… replacement."

Natsuki stared at the ground before darting emerald up briefly to her, confused. She could… anticipate what they were seeing her about?

"I have been calculating the reports and personalities of the students I have nominated." The Shinso continued. "There are three."

"Which is the most compatible?" Natsuki spoke up, eyebrows quirking up. Three… That would be hard to narrow down.

"All three."

"All of them?" Sara mouthed, the gesture unheard.

"I have nominated them automatically." The Shinso stated. "All display the necessary agility, dedication, prowess and stealth abilities. Their difficulty will be their hatred. However… Maria Graceburt's Hexade may contribute to this."

Confused, Natsuki returned her eyes to the floor. What exactly did that mean…? Would she have to choose?

"Who are the three?" She finally asked, wetting her lips in a brief spike of nervousness.

"By eldest to youngest." The Shinso regarded them all. "Juliet Nao Zhang of the Altai Republic."

"No." Natsuki immediately shot down the mere suggestion, looking rather disgusted with the nomination.

The AI merely stared at her, but continued nonetheless. "The second to be nominated is Nina Wang, also of the Altai Republic."

"Nina?" Were these… even real suggestions? Natsuki's brows furrowed, not seeing the maturity level of these two girls as anywhere near matching their own.

"If you believe your own suggestions to be better than my own. Then please tell me." The Shinso twisted her head towards the Gakuenchou, and Natsuki froze. Instantly she felt Shizuru lean in closer, the Archmeister locking their gaze.

"What of the diamond year?" Shizuru questioned her. "Surely you understand our situat-"

"I know fully well of the current events." The AI sharply interrupted. Her posture changed, and gears rattled, the Shinso standing to her full height. It was an eerily twelve feet she reached, and she bent down. "I am choosing students who will survive but make an impact. Do not forget that I, the vessel of Guadeloupe led the otome through the Twelve Nation War."

Natsuki started to shake; Anxiety returning in full at the action and words of the Shinso. Shizuru broke the gaze from the statue, appraising the Gakuenchou worriedly.

"The Gakuenchou is in no fit state. Alpha column, Sara Gallagher. Please remove her." The Shinso reported, her green eyes glowing within the darkness. She turned to the Aries-native, the slender woman quickly nodding.

Natsuki remained silent, Sara quickly helping her to her feet and down the corridor. "If she asked for death, would you grant it so quickly?" The Gakuenchou dryly asked, breaking the blonde's hold of her and stalking out herself.

A guilt but an anger took over the blonde. Frozen in place, she stared after Natsuki as the elder retreated. Once the Gakuenchou turned the corner, Sara's shoulders slouched.

What had that been about? Of course she understood the strain she was under… but even so. Sara frowned, but sighed. She only remained there for another moment, and then entered the Shinso's chamber once more.

"Finally, the third nomination. This is Tomoe Marguerite of the Kingdom of Windbloom." The Shinso spoke out, the dialogue bouncing off the walls.

Natsuki didn't want to wander the corridors, but… she couldn't remember the way out. She found where she had crouched, and did the same; Burying her head into her arms.

Just why… Why exactly was anxiety creeping up into her brain? Over the Shinso, over public speaking… Was she like this before the incident?

There was so many things on her mind that she had no clue which way she was going. There was a war, she was recovering from a coma, she had… what even was it? Was this… Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Social Anxiety? ...Depression?

Was she depressed?

But… why? Because she could barely remember who she used to be before the incident? Because everything had seemingly changed and she couldn't catch up?

Natsuki bit her lower lip softly, and buried her face into her arms. The fault belonged to no one… Except, of course, Haruka. That is, if she had attacked her of her own volition…

She felt… sick, but not sick. Not understanding what it was, it worried her. Natsuki had never thought to learn about mental illness, nevermind the concept of… her having it.

The minutes passed by slowly, and she lifted her head once she heard footsteps.

Shizuru immediately met her, kneeling and reaching for her. Grasping onto the elder's arms, Natsuki leaned up on her knees against her. "Take me out of here."

Concerned, Shizuru looked back to the other two and nodded briskly, escorting the Gakuenchou out from the catacombs.

Sara and Mayha purposefully lagging behind, Natsuki checked and leaned into Shizuru. "I think something is wrong with me…"

"We'll take care of you." Shizuru murmured quietly and quickly. Within those few minutes of memorizing, they were out. Out by the Archmeister's Passage in the underground lab, Shizuru stopped them.

"We're out." Shizuru uttered, and Natsuki sank into her. "Natsuki?" Planting her palm to the younger woman's cheek, she glanced at Sara and Mayha. "Please, get Yohko." She gave them a rushed look, tearing her attention back to Natsuki as the meister pulled them down.

Sara panicked, though was quickly corralled by Mayha as the Mauryan-native tugged her along to find the doctor.

Shizuru did not try to pull Natsuki back up, rather, she knelt down to fully join her and not be pulled.

"I-I don't know what…" Natsuki stuttered, her throat contorting. But it wasn't the strain of wanting to cry. "I feel… heavy." She muttered, her voice low and tense.

"Tell me…" Shizuru cooed softly, trying not to hover over the younger. Hands petting along her arms and shoulders, thin brows pulled together in worry.

"I don't… know?" The Gakuenchou was confused enough. What was this? Her ears spiked upon footsteps rushing up the stairs. Within the distraction, she watched as Sara and Mayha climbed the stairs. "It's… it feels like someone's… on me." She couldn't move up, and she looked up at Shizuru, puzzled. "What's… this? What is happening to me, Shizuru?"

"I'm not quite sure." Shizuru murmured to her, trying not to crowd the younger. Natsuki was obviously having some sort of attack…

More footsteps rushed, but this time down the steps. Neither paid attention, Shizuru merely closing her palms upon both of Natsuki's cheeks. "Natsuki…?" She uttered, ignoring the weight of her knees upon the cold metal. "Natsuki?"

Yohko was quick, circling the other two as she stepped close to the Gakuenchou but didn't near her. "Natsuki, can you hear me?" The doctor asked, gesturing Shizuru give her a bit of breathing room.

Shuffling past the Archmeister, Yohko gently grasped her shoulders. "Natsuki, I believe you're having a breakdown." She locked her eyes with Natsuki's, and guided her to the wall of the passageway. Yohko leaned Natsuki onto the wall, the Gakuenchou sitting herself down mutely.

"Don't worry about answering, or talking right now. Just breathe in, and out." The doctor advised, looking her over once more. "As long as you can hear me, you're doing fine."

Lifting her gaze to Shizuru, she regarded her for a few silent moments. "How long has she been showing symptoms of depression and anxiety?"

"...I would say since waking up. But most notably, since her first meeting with the Shinso." Shizuru answered, holding onto her arm before wringing her hands.

"Nothing before then? Nothing during her student years or before the coma?"

The Archmeister shook her head softly, and Yohko hummed. "Mayha." She registered her, the younger woman focusing upon her. "Fetch me some water. Sara, please call the lift."

Sara rounded and hit the button, impatiently waiting for it to respond. Mayha obeyed as well, fetching a glass of cold water though unsure if it would be thrown or drunk.

"She did… Have a bit of anxiety after the Shinso attacked her. Before the incident." Shizuru remembered, casting a glance behind her shoulder.

The passage was dark, and she could barely see the illumination of pillars. She frowned at this, and lowered her attention to Natsuki.

Upon every moment which past, Natsuki curled her arms around her legs. She had tucked her face into her arms, and as Shizuru regarded this, a weight loomed.

Natsuki sharply exhaled, her hair drooping across her form, That hefty weight from before was still present within her form. It weighed her down, and sank into her head, neck, shoulders and upper-back.

Why was she having such a… physical reaction…?

"Keep breathing, Natsuki. You're doing a good job." Yohko spoke to her, taking the glass once Mayha had returned.

Sara stood waiting before the lift, unsure if it was needed or if this was just a distraction for herself. Then again, they were going to have to move Natsuki from the passage sooner or later. That was where Natsuki was being triggered the most.

At last, the lift arrived and pinged open. Unsure with what to do, she peered over to the group.

"Natsuki, can you stand up?" Yohko approached closer, holding the glass of water tight.

"No… not yet. No." The Gakuenchou's tone was rushed and coarse. "My back feels… weird." She suspiciously watched Yohko, the woman crouching down to her level. "...What?"

"Once you can walk, we'll move you. Alright?" Yohko questioned her, offering the glass of water.

"...Okay." Natsuki eyed the water, not suspicious of it but not exactly… trustful. She took the glass after a moment, not drinking but keeping the rim of the glass against her lips.

It was strange. She didn't exactly feel depressed anymore, but there was that… weight. With it, she wasn't sure if she'd be able to stand, and if anything, prefered to stay seated.

"I think." Yohko began, stuffing her hands into her pockets, regarding her. "Your body is protecting you. In many cases of severe mental depression, the body translates mental pain to physical instead."

"Do you want Shizuru to carry you?"

Natsuki shook her head carefully to not jostle the glass at her lips, brows furrowing to the suggestion. "Just… hold on."

"Sara." The doctor called the blonde. With their gaze locked, Yohko wafted her hand, bringing the column back. "Would you and Mayha…" She glanced to the woman, pulling them aside. "Keep an eye on the security upstairs for me? It is unlikely, but you never know."

"Of course." Sara nodded, looking back down towards Natsuki. The Gakuenchou finally took a sip of water, coughing to try and clear the heaviness off of her chest.

It didn't relent but… lessened.

"Try sitting up." Yohko suggested, peering over to a silent Shizuru. Ever so faintly, she frowned at the Archmeister.

Shizuru appeared puzzled and concerned. Her fingers were brushed to her lips as she stared at Natsuki. The notion was rewarded with a tilt to the head, Natsuki catching their gaze.

Doing as instructed, the Gakuenchou sat up and gave another cough to clear the heaviness once more. It helped a bit, as did the second sip of water.

"Can you stand, yet?" Yohko asked, hands in the pockets of her coat.

"I think so?" She made a move to stand, and was eased up by Shizuru. She gave the older woman a look of appreciation. Leaning into the taller meister, Natsuki paused, wetting her lips. "I think I'm alright… fragile."

"I've got you." Shizuru softly murmured, escorting Natsuki into the lift. The Gakuenchou seemed a bit calmer, Yohko following them to the doors and not any farther.

"I'll meet you upstairs." Yohko called to them. She shut the doors, but halted. As the elevator hummed, and manoeuvred upwards, she sighed. Glancing towards the open passageway, she frowned.

Recording the Shinso would probably be a bad idea. But even so, they wouldn't gather any intelligence. Perhaps asking the Shinso herself? What reaction would this bring, however?

Dropping the subject from her mind, she shook her head. Shoving her sleeve up her arm, she glanced at her watch, and then jogged towards then up the steps.

This might be a bit more difficult to explain than she thought earlier…

Mayha seemed to be having a moment on her own; The woman's eyes closed.

Shizuru sat at Natsuki's side, surveying the higher class students before them and mentally counting. Once she was assured they were all within the room, her gaze switched towards Natsuki.

"We issued two announcements four hours ago." Natsuki spoke clearly, looking between the students. She and the columns were sat on chairs at the front of the classroom. As for the students, the amethyst and diamond years had been shoved together again. There was no complaining, just silence, the students focused entirely upon her.

"As you know, the academy is under lockdown." Threading her fingers together, Natsuki set her hands into her lap. "It is possible we are to go to war."

Whispers started up between the students, the accumulation of noise sounding like a low buzzing to herself. It was a little… annoying.

"Quiet, everyone, please…" Natsuki cleared her throat, tugging at the bottom of her jacket to smooth it out as she waited.

"Since retaliation is a possibility, we have made sure all defenses are secured and active."

Scratching along her throat gently, Natsuki briefly trailed her tongue along her bottom lip. She thought through her choice of wording, sighing, propping her hands to her knees. "Your final uniforms shall be ready by the end of this week. And we're going to reinstate your ranks. You are to be lead by one of us. Eventually, the fourth column also, whoever that might be."

Unconsciously, Natsuki looked between Nao, Nina, and Tomoe, then cringed. She still couldn't get it into her head why the Shinso had even chosen them.

Leaning forward, Natsuki caught her fellow columns attention before continuing, Mayha having opened her eyes finally. "Your skill in battle and education alone won't make you the best anymore. Once you're retested, you shall go under one of our wings. Essentially we will train you under our column build."

Another round of buzzing murmurs, and Natsuki closed her eyes to rub at them briefly. "My recovery will be swift and by the time we are ready, I plan to be using my GEM once more."

For however her robe had changed, and whether good or bad, she would make do.

"Miss Maria has proposed butou." It was Shizuru's turn to speak, and the students exchanged glances. "This will quicken the pace of your ranks and will undoubtedly help prepare you."

"At all costs," Shizuru murmured. "We as a whole, the columns, meisters and yourselves. We shall protect the coral and pearl years. They are not ready for the hardship and sacrifice which comes with war."

Having been staring into space, Nina sat straight at the proposition of a butou. Immediately, her gaze sharpened and she whipped ochre to Tomoe.

Natsuki noticed, though it was Mayha who leaned forward in anticipation.

"That one is going to be good…"

"Good?" Natsuki whispered back. "They'll tear each other apart!"

"These butou tournaments." Shizuru stated, snatching back Natsuki and Mayha's attention. "Shall run from tomorrow to next week. Who goes against whom, it will purposely be a surprise. Be you, the 12th or 2nd."

Nina kept her glare on Tomoe. No matter if the pairings for battle were random… She would beat whoever was in her way.

Mayha rubbed her hands together, an idea springing forth. "Perhaps when you regain your full recovery… You will challenge the Shinso gynoid once more?"

"What?" Natsuki blurted out, a bit louder than expected.

Eagerly, with their interest rising, the students automatically targeted her.

Natsuki groaned, and glared at Mayha who snickered in response. "I am not doing it!" She hissed over to the Mauryan-native. "She is terrifying!"

"Chicken, Kruger?" Mayha's lips twisted into a wider smirk, nudging Shizuru. "Shiz, you think it's a good idea, right?"

"S-Shizuru!" Natsuki gave her a pitiful expression, forcing the Archmeister to cover her mouth to force away laughter.

"Natsuki, it does seem like a good idea… You beat her so handily last time."

"I don't know what to do this time!" The Gakuenchou barked back, remembering where they were and clearing her throat.

"I-I mean, I know what to do, but… things have changed."

"Chill it, Kruger." Mayha hushed to her. "We know, we're only messing with you. Only when you think you're ready."

Sighing a breath of relief, Natsuki brought her focus back on the curious students. "There will be no lessons until we know it is safe. However we expect you to study either way."

"Yes, Gakuenchou." The students spoke in unison, a few murmuring amongst themselves once more.

"I am impressed." Shizuru softly nudged Natsuki, the younger quirking a brow.

"Natsuki has not used her power in over a day. No crystal puddles to trip anyone?"

"Oi, I didn't do that… Laura just doesn't know how to walk sometimes."

"Of course." Mayha drawled. Their conversation was quiet, up until Natsuki rose, the columns following.

"The boards within the corridor will indicate who your partner will be and what time it takes place." Sara confirmed, piping up at last. For the most part, she had remained silent, more than likely thinking of Aries. "Students are to follow their homeroom teachers who are waiting outside. They will take you to your dorms."

Nina sprang up first, almost knocking another girl back as she raced to the door. She stood there, waiting for it to open impatiently as she wavered from side to side like a puppy.

Shizuru chuckled at that, looking towards Natsuki with a meaningful glance.

"I don't act like that, shush Shizuru…"

"Yet she knows what I am thinking. So surely Natsuki must?" Shizuru teased.

There was no winning against this woman, was there? Natsuki exhaled sharply, rolling her eyes at Shizuru. Being rewarded with a laugh, she groaned, "You're too mean to me, Shizuru."

"Only to put her on her toes."

"Shizuru…" Natsuki murmured, following after the Archmeister, the columns exiting after the students. "I know it is the afternoon but…"

"Hm?" As the last of the students twinkled out with Sara and Mayha, Shizuru paused. She regarded Natsuki silently. Hesitantly, she neared Natsuki, blinking and glancing down as Natsuki captured her hands. "What is it?"

"Today has really drained me." Natsuki softly laughed, sighing. "Too much has happened."

Smiling gently, Shizuru leaned in against her and pressed their brows together. "A nap sounds very good." She nuzzled in briefly before pulling back.

Following after the others, they were merely greeted with Nina scanning the board. Her finger skimmed down it, searching for her name blazoned beside Tomoe's.

Tomoe was waiting quietly near the back. She appeared to be in absolutely no rush, only shaking her head. "How embarrassing." She muttered under her breath, staring into the younger amethyst's back.

And she had called her pathetic! Tomoe would've scoffed!

It was Shizuru who brushed past the students, and she caught Natsuki's eyes. Winking, the action only lasting a split second, Natsuki blushed. Why, she had no clue.

"Please, make room." The Archmeister chuckled lowly, dodging here and there. "I will guide you to your dorms."

Natsuki snickered, shaking her head. The Gakuenchou strode to follow, taking one of Shizuru's hands to hold.

Surprised at that, the older woman accredited the public affection to Natsuki's exhaustion. She lifted her free hand, petting the younger's briefly.

"We'll get Natsuki to bed soon…"

"Stop it." Natsuki mumbled. At this point she couldn't even feel the stares of the students. She was conscious of them, of course, but wasn't bothered enough. It was strange…

Perhaps by having that meltdown, or whatever it had been, had numbed her?

"Do you have more paperwork to do…?" Natsuki trailed, scratching her cheek once the Archmeister nodded.

"Okay."

Natsuki was acting like a tired child… It was so cute! Shizuru smiled, leading the way through the dorms once every student had discovered who they were facing.

Nina triumphantly faced Tomoe, staring a hole through her forehead with a wickedly devious gleam in her eyes.

"What's with the venom, Wang?" The two columns heard Tomoe groan. "Did getting locked in there with me really make you snap?"

"No, but I want to destroy you and take my rightful position."

"What? Under me?"

Natsuki snickered softly, the Archmeister nudging her carefully. "Erm… Girls, keep the fighting in the arena…"

"So lame, Kruger." Mayha popped up again, and Natsuki almost flew out of her skin.

"Mayha!"

"Calm down, Natsuki." Mayha laughed, having been making sure the students were in their dorms. "Shiz, you should give her a massage, it might loosen her up."

Gawking after her, Natsuki flushed and furrowed her brows. "Hmph… Though that does sound good." She murmured, shaking her head. "Come on, I'm beat…"

After what felt like hours, they finally reached their own dorm.

Looking around the dorm, nothing looked out of place. Maneuvering within the room further, Natsuki sighed another breath of relief. Leaning into Shizuru, she murmured quietly. "Can you skip the paperwork for tonight…?"

They looked out the window briefly, the sun setting slowly. Shizuru frowned, Natsuki realizing her question would not be answered favorably.

"I'm afraid not, Natsuki. With the announcements, we will have to get quite a few things finished." Shizuru kissed the top of her head, rubbing a hand over her back.

"Get some rest, I will join her when I am finished."

"...Fine." Natsuki pouted, heading towards their bedroom as Shizuru took her place behind the desk. Nibbling her lower lip, the Gakuenchou reached the bed and stripped off the blanket, carrying it into the main room.

"Ah, Natsuki-?"

Lying the blanket down, Natsuki took a pillow from the lounger and laid down with it near the desk. "Not a word, Shizuru." She muffled into the cushion, lying down onto the floor.

Clutching her bottom lip between her teeth, Shizuru silently snickered. "Such a child."

"I heard that."

Shizuru leaned down to pet her head before sitting straight and starting to get to work. It was a healthy stack, and she would likely finish it after an hour or so.

Natsuki snuggled the cushion under her head and close to her chest at once, grasping the blanket to fold it over herself. With a yawn, and a tease from Shizuru over how she sounded like a young pup, the Gakuenchou slowly fell to sleep.

Having not bothered to switch any lights on, the shadows slothfully enveloped the dorm. Shizuru took no mind however, hovering her hand to a simply light beside her. Upon the motion, the light softly illuminated her desk.

As she worked upon the stack, every so often she would glance down to Natsuki. Occasionally the meister would mutter, and then unconsciously shift. As this continued, Shizuru wondered whether Natsuki would awaken.

This wasn't the case, and gradually Shizuru drew further into her chair. Exhaling softly, she stared down at the paperwork.

What was she going to do about Natsuki's anxiety?

There were relaxing things they could do together… From gardening to other hands-on activities. Brushing a thumb against her lips after signing another document, Shizuru hummed quietly to herself.

Breathing exercises would help tremendously, especially with the weighted shift from mental to physical pain…

In time, Natsuki would have to face the Shinso again. But, until she felt she could, they needed to control the anxiety that too often threatened to burst forward and take over.

Perhaps they could…? No, no. Shizuru's expression twisted in self-disagreement. Surely that was too early? But…

The comment from Mayha sparked to mind, and Shizuru transferred her gaze to the lamp. Natsuki had always suited to physical situations better than mental. She knew this, Shizuru had always known this.

Massaging helped mental and physical stress. But, even so…

Sliding her palm to her forehead, Shizuru murmured. She stared up to the ceiling, brushing tawny hair away from her eyes. "What am I to do?" Crimson irises flickered down to Natsuki, watching shadows loom across her settled body.

She was worried, but after a moment, a smile graced her lips. Natsuki was strong, and together, they would be able to overcome anything.

Shizuru focused again on her paperwork, smiling a little brighter as the night dragged on.

Just over an hour had past or so for Natsuki, and she woke. She was awoken from the gentle movements of Shizuru lifting her.

"Oi, don't carry me…" Natsuki whined softly, though made no attempt to refuse.

Shizuru chuckled softly, carrying the Gakuenchou and the blanket back to the bed. "Seems I woke her too early, she's so grumpy…"

"Wouldn't you be?" Natsuki hooked her arms around Shizuru's neck. "You aren't going again, are you?" She murmured, dragging the elder down with her as Shizuru lowered her onto the bed.

"No." Shizuru smiled. "The paperwork is finished."

"Mmph, good…" Natsuki murmured, stopping her forceful drag and letting Shizuru up again. She heard the elder step away, and felt something tug at her loafer. "Oh, right…"

"Natsuki cannot sleep with her shoes on. She also forgot her cane, but we will retrieve it later." Shizuru set away the loafers at the foot of the bed on the slim rug there. Leaving her heels beside them also, she carefully crawled in next to Natsuki.

"Yet we're wearing our clothes?" Natsuki asked, unconsciously curling her arms around Shizuru's waist. "Wait…" She frowned. "That came out wrong."

"Clothes are normally slept in, Natsuki." Shizuru teased her, chuckling lowly.

"Not day clo-whatever." The younger grumbled, and clasped a hand over Shizuru's mouth, the elder nuzzling in.

"Just…" Natsuki yawned. "Sleep already." Tugging the older woman closer to herself, Natsuki found herself tucked between Shizuru's throat and chest. Settling into their hold, Natsuki breathed in her scent. "Goodnight, Shizuru."

"And goodnight to you, my Natsuki." Shizuru nestled into dark hair, the two drifting off to sleep easily.

Yet in the back of Natsuki's mind, she pondered. How would her difficulties transpire? Would her anxiety return? Or would she improve?

It was the early hours of the morning when Natsuki woke next. Feeling movement by her side, she breathed, exhaling afterwards. She hummed quietly, leaning in closer to the warmth of the older woman.

Confused upon more shifting, Natsuki opened her eyes. "Shizuru…?" She grumbled, blinking when the elder sat up, peering down to her.

Brushing a strand of Natsuki's hair from her face, the elder smiled sweetly. "Sorry to wake you…"

"No, it's fine… I don't feel tired anymore, anyway." The younger murmured, rolling onto her stomach. She continued to study Shizuru, the woman leaning against the headboard. "I dreamt about you."

"Did you?" Raising a hand to rub a bit of sleep from her eye, Shizuru smiled down to her, still looking a little drowsy.

"It was… strange," Natsuki stared at the headboard. "You were speaking to the… Shinso, but she was moving like a human. I don't know why, but she then took on… Sara's appearance." As she had said, it was… weird.

"That… is a little dark, Natsuki." Shizuru murmured, "How are you feeling?"

"...Better." The younger lifted a hand, rubbing at the bridge of her nose. "Much better." Even a little playful?

Feeling the younger bat at her face softly, Shizuru chuckled and stretched out of the yawn she had been in the middle of. "So cute…"

"Stop calling me cute, Viola." Natsuki prodded at her. Changing her mind upon a sudden decision, Natsuki muttered, planting the side of her face into her pillow.

She felt the bed shift, opening an eye to see what the elder was doing.

Shizuru smirked faintly, slowly crawling atop of Natsuki's back and laying against her. "Nat-su-ki…"

'O-oh...' Swallowing tensely, Natsuki's heart jumped into her stomach. Shizuru's weight and warmth was hefty against her, pushing her into the mattress. "Sh-Shizuru…?" She felt the elder press a kiss into the nape of her neck. Immediately, she flushed, and tried to bury her face into the pillow. "H-hey…"

"Natsuki has recovered so well… Is this still too soon?"

This? The younger inhaling hard, a soft murmur releasing. "No… No, it's not. B-but…" Natsuki sighed. "Why so suddenly?" She uttered, her heart skipping a beat when Shizuru sat up against her. "What are you…" Feeling rough palms smooth down from her neck to her lower back, her form sank. "...Doing?"

"Hopefully, Natsuki did not forget this part…"

"N-no, of course I didn't!"

"She remembers sex but almost forgot about Mai?"

"Please don't mention anyone else when you're trying to do this…"

Shizuru chuckled, but apologised. "I am sorry. But you want to talk?" Leaning her weight into her arms, Shizuru pitted them against Natsuki's shoulders. Slouching down, Shizuru's lips curled close to the Gakuenchou's throat. "How are you feeling?"

"Good…" Natsuki closed her eyes, relaxing a bit. Shizuru was… massaging her?

"Feels really good…"

Shizuru smiled, pads of her thumbs digging into the younger's shoulder blades and kneading with increasing pressure.

"Even though your hands are so rough they're…" What was the word Natsuki was trying to find? Moving her legs around through nervous habit, she twitched. "Why are they better than what I remember them as, Shizuru?"

Shizuru snickered softly against her neck, and the younger shivered softly. "I often studied massage therapy after Natsuki woke. This is the first time I've been able to use it."

"What were you planning?" Natsuki asked suspiciously. Which was ironic, given the situation.

"I wonder." Amusement shone through Shizuru's posture. Pushing the heels of her palms against Natsuki's back, she leant up. Earning a low groan from the younger woman, and Shizuru softly laughed.

"That was good…" Natsuki softly groaned again, her back cracking with the motion. "Mmph…"

"Natsuki has a lot of stress… Hopefully I can relieve her of a bit of it." Shizuru smiled, palms spreading along her back and rubbing.

"You've done quite a lot already…" Shifting a little, Natsuki nudged Shizuru from her back and leaned up on her side.

Stretching, the younger woman hummed and scanned the elder's face before she leaned up and kissed her.

The kiss was slow and delicate, but not chaste. Propping her elbow against the mattress, Natsuki unintelligibly murmured against Shizuru's lips. Her head was beginning to spin, nor did it help for how soft Shizuru's lips were…

"Hmm… Shizuru?" She droned, snaking her arm around Shizuru's shoulders. Tugging the woman closer, her own lips brushed against Shizuru's as she spoke silently. "I know sex has never been my thing, but with you I…"

Shizuru smiled against her mouth, rubbing a hand along the younger's back. "Natsuki is very sweet…" Ruby glowed with amusement, but also happiness. "Lie back…?"

Fidgeting, Natsuki did so, peering up to Shizuru who loomed down on her. Wetting her lips, Natsuki glanced away, only to look back once Shizuru caught her hands. Having her hands planted on either side of her head. Natsuki found herself unable to move, Shizuru straddling her hips.

"I love you, Natsuki." The elder cupped her face, leaning in to nuzzle their noses together.

"Silly… I love you too." Natsuki nuzzled back, flushing before she initiated another kiss. Her hands gripped gently along the crooks of the elder's arms, keeping herself grounded.

"How long has it been since we…?" Natsuki trailed, breathing against the other's lips. Her eyes were half-lidded, and she stared up into crimson irises. "...Did this?" She felt entranced, breathing quickened but still relaxed. Closing her eyes for only a moment, Natsuki sighed.

"Over a year…" Shizuru pressed her lips to the younger's brow, returning to kiss her again. "Since your incident, it would have been… a month before that?"

"Hn… I think I remember we started having less and less in the past three years." Natsuki believed this was correct, which was quickly confirmed with a nod from the elder.

"Maybe I was too stubborn." Natsuki quietly chuckled, her voice lowering into a husk as she curled her arms around Shizuru's neck. "Can we go slow?" She murmured up to the Archmeister, slipping the elder between her legs once moving them further apart.

"Of course we can, Natsuki…" Shizuru leaned down, her smile evident against Natsuki's lips before the kiss gradually deepened. Parting the younger's shirt collar beneath the jacket, trailing her hand down a pale throat.

Remembering old details, Natsuki captured Shizuru's bottom lip between her teeth delicately. She grinned up into crimsons, but her grip released, Shizuru's fingertips skittering downwards. "You cheat." She whispered.

Ah, what she wanted… "Shizuru." She broke the elder's focus upon her throat, and Shizuru glanced up to her. "Come here." She clasped her palms to Shizuru's cheeks, guiding her down to her.

Unlike earlier when the sun had been setting, there was barely no light. Neither minded though, the two using touch and hearing.

Once Shizuru was close enough, Natsuki leaned up against her. Powerfully capturing those plump lips, the younger whimpered a little as she held her close.

These feelings were overwhelming. Perhaps it was due to her recent anxiety, Natsuki wondered? She felt Shizuru stifled a whimper of her own, and she remembered back to their first kiss. This was just like it…

But they had privacy. Something which they would hold onto dearly.

"Natsu-" Shizuru's lips hovered, but only for a moment before being caught again. She sighed into Natsuki's lips, clutching one of the Gakuenchou's wrists. Tilting her head and humming, Shizuru pressed closer. A rush of electric flooded against her, and she groaned, slipping her tongue into a stunned Natsuki's mouth.

It was strange. Even though they hadn't done this in so long, it felt just as natural.

Natsuki took a moment before she recovered. Once doing so, she turned the tables on Shizuru, wiggling her arm from the elder's grasp. She instead gripped Shizuru's wrist, nudging her onto her side as she sat up.

Natsuki kept the deepened kiss going, crawling atop the Archmeister and pinning her wrists down.

Breaking the kiss, Shizuru heaved, blinking the haziness from her eyes. Staring up to the usually submissive Natsuki, she opened her mouth. "A-ara…" Her cheeks were flushed, studying Natsuki's own flushed expression.

"Hah… Hi there…" The Gakuenchou grinned softly, leaning down to get comfortable.

"Natsuki became into bondage while she was asleep?"

"Maybe. Want a gag?" Natsuki stifled back a laugh at the incredulous look on Shizuru's face. Shutting the elder up with another smoldering kiss.

"You a-" Interrupted, Shizuru moaned, and shifted, pushing her form up into Natsuki's slightly smaller build. "-re mean…"

"Stop talking." Natsuki chuckled against her, tongue brushing against her bottom lip before she sat back and shrugged off her jacket.

"Mm, never." A crimson eye winked up to her, hands snaking up the crisp shirt now that her wrists were free. Shizuru continued to stare up at Natsuki, and reached upwards. Natsuki watched her, the blue jacket pooling against her waist and Shizuru's legs.

Deviously, Shizuru smiled, hooking her fingers under Natsuki's cross-tie, luring her back down.

"Ooh…" Natsuki was silenced with another kiss, her own hands wandering about Shizuru's shirt. Each button was undone slowly until there were no more, spreading and tucking under Shizuru's shoulders.

To Natsuki's surprise, the Archmeister was wearing sportswear.

"Natsuki might think she is leading, but she must be corrected." Shizuru hummed, lips brushing against Natsuki's again. Her mouth tingled, and she sighed, lifting her hands to skim across Natsuki's clothed front.

"Corrected, hm?" The younger let Shizuru's hands burrow into her shirt, the buttons not even being bothered with as she tried to tug the shirt over Natsuki's head.

"Someone is very impatient…"

"Kruger must hush. Bad students must be punished."

Opening her mouth to protest, Natsuki wasn't able to. The shirt was taken off of her fairly easily, surprisingly. Shizuru didn't wait for Natsuki however, bloody-red irises holding her in place.

'Oh… no'. Natsuki's throat went dry, but before she could react, she was flat on her back once more.

"Now… what to do?" Shizuru smiled widely, looking down to her bra. "I see she still takes to lace instead of sportswear." Slothfully, Shizuru skimmed a lone fingertip down between the bra, making the Gakuenchou shudder.

"H-hey, you like my lace…" Natsuki flushed darkly, though wet her lips. "Sportswear is for bottoms…"

Shizuru chuckled, cocking a brow high. "Is it…?"

"You have a lot to learn, Na-tsu-ki." Without another word, the devious otome cupped Natsuki's breasts through her bra. She smiled, earning a sharp intake of breath from Natsuki. "I will have to drill it into her."

"Uh oh…" Natsuki stared up at her, swallowing a lump in her throat. She noticed Shizuru waver, and quickly smiled to encourage her.

"Don't stop… please?"

Obeying to the Gakuenchou's word, Shizuru wet her lips. "You have done it in for yourself." She chuckled gruffly. Rounding her fingers over the clothed skin, Shizuru murmured down to her quietly. "Like this?" She whispered, knowing her fingertips and thumbs tingled against the younger meister's form.

"A-ah… yes…" Natsuki squirmed a little, leaning up to kiss Shizuru as the elder softly squeezed, causing her to squeak against her mouth.

"O-oi…"

"Natsuki requested it, did she not?"

Huffing, and flushed, Natsuki simply stared up at her desperately. "Please?"

Through the distress which was quickly gathering within Natsuki's eyes, Shizuru paused. She knew what the younger meister wanted, and slowly slipped a hand behind Natsuki.

"Who is the impatient one now?" She leaned down, whispering into her ear quietly.

Upon the mere touch of her lips to the lobe of Natsuki's ear, Shizuru lowly chuckled. "Your body is filling out well, Natsuki." Perhaps she could help with this?

Unclipping the latch of Natsuki's bra, Shizuru snickered as smooth cheeks deepened with red. She stared down at Natsuki's flushed expression, slipping her hands under the bra.

Inhaling sharp but slowly, Natsuki stared up at her older lover. Lace was brushed aside, Shizuru's smirking lips descending upon her chest.

Those electric currents which she had never gotten used to intensified. Natsuki became dazed, opening her mouth, but nothing ever emitted. Pressing her head back into the pillow, she nervously glanced down to Shizuru.

The Archmeister's lips hotly skimmed across her skin, attempting to find any forgotten area to map. She only paused once, littering gentle kisses along smooth flesh.

Closing her eyes and relaxing her head back instead of straining herself to try and watch, Natsuki softly sighed. She felt hot, but so good…

"S-Shizuru…"

Chuckling softly at the harsh whisper, the elder moved her trail of kisses downward.

"I love Natsuki. So, so much." Shizuru rasped, muffled against Natsuki's torso. Her hands warm, trailing across Natsuki's breasts. She paused her palms, smiling into skin when she felt the younger woman's nipples harden. "Hmm… Somebody is getting excited?" Chuckling against Natsuki's upper stomach, she slothfully slid her tongue upwards.

"Shizuru… Of course." Natsuki murmured softly, hands burying themselves into the elder's hair. So soft… and strong, proven as she wound a hand through it and tugged to admonish her teasing.

With the pull upon her hair, Shizuru peered up to her. Dazed eyes filled with love, but also lust, she lowered her eyes down to Natsuki's lips. Pulling up, and over Natsuki, she pressed her lips against the Gakuenchou's.

"Mm…" Natsuki moaned softly into the kiss, clutching hold of her hair tighter. She pulled back, urging the elder back down.

Snickering to the urgency, Shizuru nipped at the younger's lower lip before obeying. Trailing her lips down over Natsuki's chest and stomach, the elder was pleased with an arch.

Natsuki had grown more muscle, and tone…

It wasn't to the state of what it had been originally, but the muscle was forming. Humming lowly, Shizuru tracked her eyes across the faint hint of abdominal muscle. Sitting herself upwards, and onto her knees, she stared down to the younger woman.

"Breathe, Natsuki." Shizuru smiled almost lewdly. She slothfully and purposely tracked her index finger down from the valley of Natsuki's breasts. Pushing the padding of her finger down, she trailed it to Natsuki's slacks.

"I-I am." Natsuki screwed her brows together, opening her eyes to gaze up to the elder with a faint bit of confusion. What was she up to, now?

Shizuru took her own bottom lip between her teeth. The expression looked far too innocent to grace the elder's features…

It made Natsuki smile.

Tilting her head, Shizuru quirked a brow with interest. "What is it?" She murmured, clasping her hands to Natsuki's hips. Sliding her hands down to Natsuki's thighs, Shizuru brought her own legs underneath Natsuki's.

"Natsuki?" Her eyes shone with amusement. She watched as Natsuki's head pressed further into the pillow due to her new position. Mutely, she kept their eyes locked, tenderly massaging Natsuki's hips.

"You looked cute when you bit your lip… like you were a school-girl again." Natsuki teased, hands bunching sheets beneath her. They skittered up from the bed, tips of her fingers touching the hem of Shizuru's skirt.

"If this goes, so do Natsuki's slacks…"

"Deal."

"I am surprised…" Shizuru smiled. "By now you would have caved, demanding I would stop teasing." Wetting her lips slowly, Shizuru rose her hands. Smoothing them up, she slipped her thumbs into Natsuki's slacks.

Continuing to gently massage Natsuki's pelvis, Shizuru manoeuvred her palms, sliding them up her abdomen to trail back downwards.

Squirming a little, Natsuki's lips formed a small smirk. "Maybe I've gotten better at enduring?" She teased, though shifted her legs and tugged what she could of Shizuru's skirt.

"Shall I turn it up a notch?" Shizuru smiled deviantly, and Natsuki flushed. "Oh…?"

Removing her hands, which rewarded her with a skittered moan. Shizuru reached for the clasp of her skirt, moving one of Natsuki's slender legs out the way.

Natsuki moved the other one as well, Shizuru kneeling between her legs as she teased her with barely unclasping fabric.

Just a sliver of flesh exposed, the elder pretended to clasp it back. "H-hey…"

Why was Shizuru doing this now?

"Perhaps Natsuki could help me, then?" Natsuki thought she might die as Shizuru prowled on top of her, and grabbed her hands. Shizuru guided her palms, and latched them to her own waist.

"A-ah…" Licking her lips, the younger woman swallowed hard. Expression setting tight, Natsuki smirked up towards Shizuru.

"If Shizuru cannot undress herself, perhaps she should wear less complicated outfits…"

"Is that Natsuki saying she is unable to undress her lover?" A sly smile crossed Shizuru's lips.

"N-no!"

"Then do so, Na-tsu-ki."

"Not fair…" Natsuki mumbled but eagerly obeyed, unclasping the skirt and greedily slipping it down.

Shizuru chuckled softly, playing with one of the younger's ears until the tip was red.

Curling her arm behind her back, Shizuru unclipped her own bra. Still atop Natsuki, the Gakuenchou blushed brightly.

"...W-Wow." Of course, she had seen the elder nude since the incident, but not like this.

Shizuru still had one layer left, but the look on Natsuki's face was as if she were bare. "Natsuki is so cute…"

Unconsciously, Natsuki drifted her eyes across Shizuru's form. She was slender, but toned. And unable to help herself, Natsuki clutched her hands to Shizuru's waist again. Her hands shook, sliding her palms across the smooth abdominal muscle.

Shizuru had always had a… stronger build than her. The Archmeister had always had muscle, and quite a lot of it…

It honestly surprised her whenever she managed to overpower the elder.

"She's being so sweet…" She heard Shizuru murmur, the elder's hands following her own and petting the backs of them.

Thumbs slipping under lace, Natsuki stared up to ruby as she rid Shizuru of her last cover.

"...Hm." The look which Shizuru gave her gnawed at Natsuki. There was an overwhelming look of lust which sparked within her eyes. And before Natsuki knew it, Shizuru had seized her lips once more.

A low pitched moan released from Natsuki's throat, Shizuru stalking her hand down until it slipped under her slacks.

"Shi-Shizu-ru!"

The elder grinned against her mouth, another slow kiss turning fervent and demanding. Natsuki was laid back further, hands gripping onto anything she could get a hold on.

Everything was abruptly quick, and if Natsuki's head was spinning enough already, it certainly was now. Shizuru's hands were ever so delicate. Even as the rough fingertips greeted the apex of her legs, Shizuru was so gentle.

Arching faintly against her, Natsuki's eyes opened once the kiss ended, and she whimpered for it to return.

Shizuru chuckled gently, lips trailing to her ear. "Nat-su-ki…"

A digit barely slid across her, and Natsuki released a gruff groan. It was unexpectedly loud, and she clamped a hand against her mouth. The gesture brought a hearty laugh from Shizuru, a brief shock meeting her eyes.

"Natsuki…" Shizuru repeated again, much quieter. With her free hand, she tugged Natsuki's hand from her mouth, gently holding it. "Please look at me?"

Upon these words, she slowly slid her middle finger into her, reaching the first knuckle.

Emeralds shakily held her gaze, Natsuki tightening her grip on Shizuru's hand. Her lips were pressed tight together, but the elder's pinky poked and coaxed out a whimper.

"There is my Natsuki…"

With the faintest movement, the whole of the Gakuenchou's body shivered. When Shizuru sank her finger in deeper, Natsuki was unable to restrain herself. A throaty hiss escaped her, and Shizuru simply hummed, repeating the action.

Her breathing started to deepen; Natsuki's hand gripping the elder's own and holding it tight to her chest.

"Oh…" Natsuki groaned a bit louder again, sweat beginning to dot her face as she tried to keep quiet.

"My, I did not know Natsuki could sing."

"Damn it, Shizuru…"

Shizuru laughed huskily, quickening her pace. "May she sing for me?"

"S-stop… teasing me!" Natsuki bit her lower lip, eyes closing to force back tears.

Concerned, Shizuru slowed and kissed over a closed eye. "Is Natsuki alright?"

"Y-yes… just very overwhelming. Don't stop…"

The dampness which greeted her finger was also stunning for Shizuru. But as Natsuki warranted, she didn't relent. Adding her ring finger, she quickened her pace just slightly, pressing her lips to Natsuki's brow. "She is doing well. Very well."

Natsuki let go of Shizuru's hand, both of hers clinging to the elder's back. Muffling a cry into her throat, the younger bit her.

"Ah!"

"S-sorry…?"

"Natsuki bit me…" Shizuru snickered softly, leaning against her lips. "Do it again."

Shuddering, Natsuki jaw trembled. She stared at Shizuru flabbergasted, just before another wave of pleasure interrupted her thought. "I-I-I'm-" Tightly she clung, and Shizuru's wish was granted.

Perhaps as the stars flooded her eyes, Natsuki hadn't meant to, latching her teeth against Shizuru's neck.

The elder bit her bottom lip to the much harder bite granted to her throat; A raspy moan escaping from her lips as she held Natsuki close.

Trembling, Natsuki's jaw ached from the pressure she had used. Letting go, she murmured a soft apology and pressed a kiss over the marks.

Exhausted from the outlet, Natsuki sank back against the bed. She panted, wetting her lips. Hazy emerald irises contorted upon the sight of her lover still straddling her. Shizuru planted her hand against the marks, rubbing against the damage soothingly.

"Ah… Natsuki."

The younger flushed, chuckling softly as she fluffed the pillow beneath her. "Someone has to wear a scarf tomorrow… Unless your nano-machines take care of that."

Shizuru smirked, lowering her hand and letting Natsuki see the mark she left.

Admiring the faint bruising already, Natsuki bashfully grinned. "I like that."

"Is the Gakuenchou placing her mark on me?" Shizuru snickered, hazy eyes slowly clearing. An amusement tracked along them for a brief moment, watching Natsuki blush.

Clearing her throat, Shizuru trailed her fingertips along the bite marks again. "I must say, I was surprised when you flipped us." Lowering herself down, she covered Natsuki with her own body, propping her chin to her shoulder.

"Well, I wanted to… y-you know, but I got nervous." Natsuki felt the elder chuckle against her, and grumbled back. "Just you wait…"

"Oh, waiting? Natsuki knows I wait impatiently when it comes to her…"

"Don't I just." The Gakuenchou sighed.

"Are you trying to tease me?" Shizuru pried, grinning. She was moved up by the weight of Natsuki's huff, and she laughed softly.

"Stop laughing at me."

"No." The Archmeister ribbed gently, smiling widely. Tenderly, she kissed the younger meister's throat.

"Don't bite me…"

"But Natsuki bit me!" A pout formed at Natsuki's throat from the elder.

"And I said not to." Natsuki sung, snickering as she held her tight.

"You are unfair."

Even though Natsuki felt exhausted, she wondered if Shizuru wanted anything…? But she looked so comfortable… Glancing down at Shizuru, Natsuki hummed.

"...You never did strip me, Shizuru."

"Alright… It looks as if your leg has gotten stronger." Scribbling a bit on her pad, Yohko inspected along the rolled cuffs of Natsuki's slacks. Not quite as muscular as before, she had no doubt the Gakuenchou would fix that now.

"No more cane?" Natsuki looked up from her leg hopefully, brows quirked with anticipation.

"No more cane."

Leaning back into the medical chair, Natsuki sighed a breath of relief.

Finally… she could get rid of that blasted thing. For the most part these couple of days, it had tripped her over.

"I believe you're ready for another boost." The scientist confirmed, heading towards the computer.

"Really?" Lit up in excitement, the Gakuenchou practically bounced atop the chair.

"Really." Yohko dryly responded, snickering softly at the childish behavior. Tapping along the keyboard with one hand, the other summoning a holographic one and typed on that too.

"How do you do that?" Natsuki watched, curious.

"Ambidexterity, you should see me when I've had a drink or three."

From some way off, Shizuru snickered. Confused, Natsuki peered over to her, tilting her head. The Archmeister was inspecting the new nano-machine casings by a cluttered table. It was alike to an icebox, except engineered to keep the capsuled nano-machines frozen and safe.

Her back faced Natsuki, and the Gakuenchou gradually lifted her eyes to Shizuru's neck. The bruising along the skin was still evident, and it amazed Natsuki she hadn't covered it. Then again, Shizuru wasn't coming over...

She supposed it was 'see not, want not'; Except 'see not, explain not'… Now she was going in circles in her own head. Shaking her hair out, Natsuki jumped when her GEM buzzed, no doubt starting to receive its updates.

"That'll happen." Yohko teased her, tapping along the table. Searching for something, the doctor lowly exhaled and rubbed at the nape of her neck. "Now, where did I put that…?"

"What?" Natsuki questioned, frowning at Shizuru to then transfer her attention to Yohko. Mindlessly, she brushed her fingertips against her GEM, rolling it around. It jolted a second time, and she twitched.

"I suggest not touching it when it's doing that. And, I am looking for a syringe I had for you. Boosters of nano-machines. Could have sworn- Oh, it's under the holographic keyboard. How funny!"

Natsuki furrowed her brows before lifting one high, straining to try to see Shizuru.

Flicking a few more commands into the holographic keyboard, Yohko soon deactivated it. Without turning, she asked Natsuki a question, drifting her gaze towards Shizuru. "Somebody have an argument with the Archmeister?"

"Wha-" Exchanging her focus upon the two women, Natsuki opened her mouth. She glanced at Shizuru, the older woman looking at her over her shoulder. "No?"

"Ah, so you've finally pounced her like a one-hundred and eighteen pound panther?"

"I…" Natsuki was quickly rendered speechless, too stunned to even flush. She stared, mouth agape. Quietly, she registered Shizuru force down a chuckle; No doubt the woman was covering her mouth again...

"So I am right?" The medical-engineer spun on her heel, syringe in hand. Nearing her, Yohko flashed a smile, deftly removing the air bubbles from the syringe.

Closing her mouth, Natsuki huffed, simply pulling her sleeve down and extending her arm for Yohko.

"I must say, it was highly enjoyable." The two women heard Shizuru say, and Natsuki flushed heavily.

"...Very." Natsuki softly added, clearing her throat and shifting in her seat.

Yohko's brows lifted up, the doctor chuckling softly. "Alright, now relax your hand."

Bicep being squeezed with an idle machine, Natsuki did as told and closed her eyes.

With a faint pinch and sting of pain, it was over with.

Alike to last time, but far less disturbing, Natsuki felt the nano-machines swim around. Shizuru neared them, and came to a stop behind Natsuki's chair. With this action finished, the Archmeister propped her hands to the younger meister's shoulders.

"How does it feel?" Yohko questioned, paying no attention to the bruising along the Archmeister's throat.

"Swimming. It feels like they're swimming." Natsuki scowled, alternating between that expression and a full-cheeked pout.

"Natsuki looks so silly…" Ruby glanced at the syringe, noting nothing different in the instrument. "Last time, Natsuki almost broke the needle off. Not this time, I hope?"

"No, no." Yohko chuckled, heading over to the sink and putting the syringe inside. "As always, if you begin feeling unwell, come back." She nodded to the two women, returning to Natsuki's side.

Leaning down, the scientist wiped at the needle prick with a wet cloth. Afterwards, she wrapped a bandage around her arm, fixing medical tape to it. "Now off you go." She uttered, tapping the younger woman's other arm lightly.

Looking up to Shizuru, Natsuki was rewarded with a peck to the tip of her nose. "Oi."

"Natsuki speaks like a little pirate." Shizuru teased, winding to her side and offering her arm.

The Gakuenchou stared before smirking, bounding out of the chair by herself. "No cane!"

"Somebody is extremely excited." Shizuru murmured, the Gakuenchou hooking her arm into hers. "Perhaps last night did her some good."

"Shizuru…"

Yohko was probably out of earshot, typing away frantically once more.

"Do we really have to sit through twenty five butou matches today and next week?" Natsuki moped.

"Yes, Natsuki… We have to determine our best ranks." Shizuru eyed her, tapping her chin. "If she is lucky, perhaps she will have a match with Mai before the Shinso gynoid…"

"Match with Mai? Why, so she can beat me and then I beat the Shinso gynoid and everyone just wonders?"

"If Natsuki is so worried, she could always train." Shizuru's grin widened only slightly, but Natsuki narrowed her eyes at her.

"Oi, Viola. Stop it." Beginning to drag Shizuru from their position, Natsuki sighed. "On another note… will this tournament be televised?"

"No, it will not." Shizuru caught up with her, the younger's happy attitude contagious.

"However… Natsuki's match will be, just as it was when she became Gakuenchou."

"...You mean… Everyone saw that?"

"They did." The Archmeister snickered behind her free hand, smirking.

"I want to kick my past's ass so hard." Groaning, Natsuki's shoulders slumped, and they paused at the stairs.

Why had she been so embarrassing?

"Please do not." Shizuru murmured in amusement. "I do not want another injured Natsuki."

"You wouldn't have to take care of her." Natsuki shook her head, chuckling softly. "Where are we going, by the way?"

"I thought she may want to go to the gardens?" Shizuru suggested. "It has changed, but Natsuki might find some of it familiar."

"Oh. That's right…" How had they not found time to go earlier? Natsuki smiled, excited to go. "Lead the way."

"Surely you remember the way?" Shizuru arched a brow. "The entrance has not changed."

But either way, they made their way to the gardens, Shizuru soundlessly guiding the Gakuenchou.

Aries Republic, Kruger Industries

Machinery ran in a dull hum, and one screen fuzzed with white noise. Within the center of the room sat the CEO of Kruger Industries.

Saeko sighed, an elbow propped to her desk. Staring at the screen with disinterest, she glanced at an almost empty wine glass. She levelled it between her fingers, and brought it to her emerald eye-level.

Overall, did she care about anything? She had even forgotten what the Hexagon wanted her to create. What had it been…?

Shaking her head, she gulped the rest of the wine down. Pressing the glass down, she grumbled, haphazardly clutching at the remote.

"Typical Aries rubbish…" Upon the words which spewed from her mouth drunkenly, she stared at the mute screen. Perhaps she was hallucinating upon the imagery she saw? Maybe even as she shouted towards the door for Miyu?

Flicking the sound on, her ears twitched upon the voice she had missed for so long.

"...Natsuki?"

COLLAB NOTES

We thought this chapter was never going to end...! We have quite a bit left over, but we decided to replace that with Saeko. Of course that scene will be added into the next chapter. But finally! We got to see Yukino, and Saeko! Sadly no Haruka yet, I wonder what she's on with?

REVIEWS

Kutt: Hahaha, well, it looks like you've got your last chapter dream come true now, right? The status update is something I've always done. Honestly it frustrates me whenever you see a writer release an amazing story. Yet in the end they'll abandon it and give you absolutely no information. I've seen it happen time and time again.

Guest 1: Schwartz Corporation has their valkyrja. Garderobe and whoever else have HiME.

Guest 2: Who knows who the most powerful is. Perhaps Shiho is a HiME, or perhaps not? Time will tell!

Lee-kun: Rena, Ayane, and Monica were dead, yes. They could be zombies, in a way, but who knows what Schwartz is up to? As for Garderobe shutting down... who knows! I'd doubt the otome would disappear just before Garderobe was to close, however. They are far too powerful for that.

Just a Guest: Correct, Smith definitely did something to bring then back.

L.A: Maybe you have missed a few clues, I have no idea. But those HiME love hiding, am I right? But since the Shinso is being so... Shinso-ish who knows when we'll finally know?

Other Reviews: Thanks for the reviews everyone! Like always they are still helping to motivate us as these chapters become more monstrous! We haven't lost any love for this story yet, so let's keep going!

How ridiculously big can you make a chapter? Now that's something I wonder about.
