The Girl with the Broken Smile
Chapter 7
The past two months at school haven't been so bad.
Demetri and Emmett kicked Jacob's ass for messing with me an Edward, but they did it on the down low, they said. Obviously not wanting dad to know so it Demetri had to, but he stayed clear of me.
James still made snide comments, but kept them to a minimum as to not draw too much attention and get his ass kicked as well.
Edward and I were as close as ever and going strong, sometimes our parents had to put their feet down and tell us we need time to ourselves and with our friends, the bad thing was when we would spend too much time separated, we'd feel lost. Like a piece of each other was missing.
Carlisle and my dad took the boys camping one weekend since it was a three day weekend. To get a head start, they left on Thursday after school to have more time.
Irina, Esme, Alice and I were going to an exclusive spa in California for the weekend and to make matters worse, we were allowed NO contact with the other parties. The parents had a cell phone for emergencies, but ours were confiscated. To say I was upset was an understatement. I didn't talk to any of them the entire flight, but I did read the letter that Edward wrote me and snuck to Alice before he left, over and over.
My Dearest Bella,
I can't believe they're doing this to us.
No contact for almost four entire days. I don't know what I'll do without hearing your voice every day.
Just know that I'll be as miserable as you are.
At least you'll be inside some cozy hotel being pampered and not out in a tent without running water and roughing it with the guys.
I'll be forced to fish and do without all electronics for the weekend, at least you'll get a television, although you do get shopping with Alice in the mix, I'm not sure that's very fair and I know you're not one for pampering, but please enjoy it, if anyone deserves it, it's you my love.
I can't wait to see you at school on Monday, or possibly a big family dinner on Sunday if Demetri and I can talk the dad's into spoiling the moms a little bit longer.
You know because of ALL they do.
Well, I've got to end this so I can get it to Alice.
I'm giving her my football shirt for you to sleep in too, I just wore it so it smells like me, but not sweaty.
With ALL MY LOVE,
Xo Edward Xo
I must have read the letter 30 times and had a perma-smile on my face by the time we reached the hotel.
"I'm glad to see you're finally smiling." Irina smirked at me.
"I guess I can't be miserable the entire time can I?" I asked.
"No, that would defeat the entire purpose of this trip." Esme laughed.
"I just feel whole when I'm with Edward." I hugged myself.
"We do understand, we've been in your shoes. We just want you to enjoy everything." Irina sighed and hugged me.
"But we can do that and still be with our friends, you don't have to separate us. We could've went camping with our friends or something." I tried to make a point.
"Don't you like spending time with us?" Alice asked with a pout.
"Of course I do. But to have ALL communication with Edward cut off, that's torture." I shook my head.
"Fine, next time you'll be able to keep in contact." Esme smiled.
"Next time?" I screeched.
"We plan on doing this when we have free weekends." She smiled.
"Ugh!" I groaned and stomped towards my bedroom.
I heard them out there cackling and sat on my bed until they came to get me for the first round of torture.
Thankfully with all the shopping and activities the weekend flew by, hopefully Edward's did too and they got their way, we were meeting for dinner at a restaurant in Port Angeles and I'd be allowed to ride home with Edward and have some alone time. I hope he likes the new dress I picked out just with him in mind.
Edward had been telling me all along I needed to get over and accept the scars on my legs, they didn't bother him and they really weren't that noticeable, so I took a chance with this short, green, strapless dress. Irina, Esme and Alice all went crazy when I tried it on and said my dad would probably have a heart attack when he saw me, but Edward would probably propose. To which I just laughed. We were nowhere near that level.
Arriving at the restaurant I was super nervous and made everyone else walk in ahead of me.
"Bella, you look great. Edward is going to flip his shit!" Alice giggled.
"Mary Alice!" Esme scolded.
"Sorry mom." She smiled.
The hostess showed us to our seats and they were right, Edward swallowed tightly.
"Bella." He smiled.
"Irina! What is she wearing?" my dad asked.
"A dress, she looks beautiful doesn't she?" she smiled.
"Well yes, but it's a little revealing." He motioned. "You need my jacket honey?" he asked.
"No dad, I'm fine." I blushed.
"Bella, you look stunning." Edward wrapped me in a hug and kissed me.
Throats cleared.
"Oh, sorry." Edward pulled out my chair for me and I know we were both blushing.
"How was your weekend?" I asked him, holding his hand.
"Boring. It rained. We caught no fish and Demetri had gas all weekend from the beans." He complained.
"It was better than you complaining about 'Bella this and Bella that' all weekend." Demetri rolled his eyes.
"No, Bella had him beat. She must have read your letter a million times Edward. We caught her walking the mall with it, while getting her mani/pedi, while getting her hair done. It was madness. And not to mention the two guys who tried to write their numbers on it for her. You want to see someone go into bitch mode." Alice laughed.
"What?" Edward snapped.
"Oh, I told them to back off! I was very seriously taken and didn't need their stupid ass phone numbers." I leaned over and kissed his cheek.
"Very seriously taken?" Edward asked.
"Yep." I smirked.
"I like that idea." Edward teased.
"I don't. Let's order." My dad chimed in and just like that, all talk about our 'serious relationship' was out the window and back on real life.
