Feels Like Home

(Sequel to 'Three Words')

As they're lying in the afterglow, Fitz marvels at how well they fit together. Like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, their contours and limbs the slots and tabs.

He traces reverent patterns on Jemma's bare skin, soft like silk, and watches the gooseflesh rise in his fingers' wake. Feels the stirrings of pride and something else as she gravitates towards him with feline grace and a contented sigh.

To think he nearly lost her for a second time…

The thought prompts a possessive embrace, and he decides he'll never let go of her. This woman who feels like home.

Threat

(Sequel to 'The Date')

"I'll be right back." That said, Jemma disappeared into her bedroom, leaving Fitz and Petrenko alone together. Fitz watched the Russian through narrowed eyes.

"Where are you taking her?" he asked, not even bothering to sound polite.

Petrenko blinked, digging his hands into the pockets of his trousers. "'Savour'," he answered simply.

"Posh place."

The Russian smiled minutely. "Yes."

Fitz took a menacing step towards him. "Listen. Treat her well. Treat her with respect. If you don't, I'll hunt you down and use you as a guinea pig for my weapons prototypes. Understood?"

"Clearly," said Petrenko with that infuriating smile.

The Tux

"Simmons?… A little help, please?"

Jemma's breath catches briefly in her throat as she takes in Fitz and the tux he's wearing. He helplessly indicates the bowtie hanging round his neck, crinkled from so many failed attempts at tying it.

"You're looking dapper," she says with a smile.

He grimaces, fingering the collar. "A suit of armour can't be more uncomfortable."

Jemma doesn't comment but deftly ties the bow. "There."

He sighs regretfully. "Wish you were coming."

"You'll have Skye hanging off your arm."

"I'd rather have you."

Jemma's heart leaps at his words. "Maybe next time we go undercover."
